“Jiang Mengyu, what right do you have to control me?”
Jiang Mengyu was not surprised.
Her eyes were cold and indifferent, not a trace of a smile on her face.
But Chi Jingyan had already lost patience.
She didn’t want Jiang Mengyu to mark her, she only wanted Jiang Mengyu’s pheromones.
Why wouldn’t Jiang Mengyu give them to her?
Chi Jingyan pressed her lips together and stopped speaking. She released Jiang Mengyu’s clothes, then suddenly shoved her with force.
Jiang Mengyu took two steps back from the push, only to be abruptly pinned against the wall by Chi Jingyan. Her back pressed against the cold surface, her shoulders restrained, trapped between Chi Jingyan and the wall.
Chi Jingyan seemed worried she might escape.
But Jiang Mengyu had no intention of running.
She simply watched Chi Jingyan quietly.
Chi Jingyan was breathing heavily, as if even this small exertion had drained all her strength. She bit her lip, staring unblinkingly at Jiang Mengyu, before finally forcing out the words, “Why… won’t you listen to me?”
She just wanted pheromones was that too much to ask?
A faint sense of grievance suddenly welled up in Chi Jingyan’s heart.
“Then what do you want me to do?” Jiang Mengyu’s voice was soft.
Chi Jingyan didn’t know. She only stubbornly repeated, “Pheromones.”
Jiang Mengyu closed her eyes. As Chi Jingyan wished, she released her pheromones.
The scent of jasmine instantly filled the air, overpowering and enveloping the sweet fragrance of pear lychee wine, suppressing it completely.
Chi Jingyan let out a muffled groan from her throat. Her cheeks flushed crimson, the tips of her eyes tinged with an unnatural red, her gaze hazy with unshed tears that dampened her long lashes.
Her strength left her entirely, her body going limp as she began to slide down, only for Jiang Mengyu to swiftly catch her by the waist.
At this point, Chi Jingyan no longer cared about her pride. She leaned against Jiang Mengyu, lips parted as she gasped for breath, her body soft and feverish.
The room was lit only by a dim bedside lamp, its warm glow casting a hazy halo over the two of them. In the quiet space, only Chi Jingyan’s ragged breathing could be heard, one ragged gasp after another.
Pressed so closely together, they looked like a pair of lovers entwined in an embrace.
Chi Jingyan’s restlessness was finally soothed by the jasmine scent.
But Jiang Mengyu was far from relaxed. Her eyes half-lidded, her lips slightly pale.
Jiang Mengyu had only had her pheromones extracted a few hours ago, and her glands hadn’t yet recovered. Now, forcibly releasing more pheromones, the ache at the back of her neck grew sharper, more unbearable.
She could feel the pain intensifying, spreading until even her head throbbed in waves.
Her lips pressed tightly together, every muscle in her body tensed from the pain. Yet her expression betrayed nothing aside from her pallor, there was no sign of discomfort.
Chi Jingyan didn’t notice Jiang Mengyu’s distress.
Finally getting the pheromones she craved, her mind was now consumed by the delicate jasmine fragrance. The glands on her neck burned and swelled, as if in response, releasing an even richer wave of pear lychee wine scent.
Chi Jingyan’s hand still clutched Jiang Mengyu’s clothes as she leaned against Jiang Mengyu’s shoulder, breathing deeply. After what felt like an eternity, Chi Jingyan suddenly heard Jiang Mengyu whisper softly in her ear, “Had enough?”
Enough?
The scent of jasmine was nearly overwhelming her. Chi Jingyan felt as though she were soaking in warm water, her entire body languid and devoid of any strength.
It took her a long moment to react before she slowly nodded. “Mmm.”
Jiang Mengyu closed her eyes briefly. “You should go back now.”
Chi Jingyan tilted her head to look at the person before her. Jiang Mengyu’s features were deep and alluring, her expression cold and distant when she wasn’t smiling. There was a small mole at the corner of her eye, like a drop of ink on pristine white paper, lending her entire face a vivid and radiant charm.
Chi Jingyan stared at it for a long while before asking softly, “Go where?”
“Your own room,” Jiang Mengyu replied in a low voice.
A sudden wave of displeasure washed over Chi Jingyan. The lingering traces of Jiang Mengyu’s pheromones still clung to her, and the mingled scents of jasmine, snow pear, and lychee hadn’t even dissipated from the room yet and now this person was trying to send her away?
Chi Jingyan pressed her lips together and remained silent.
Jiang Mengyu lowered her gaze to meet Chi Jingyan’s eyes. The two of them stared at each other wordlessly for a moment before Jiang Mengyu changed the question. “Can you recognize who I am now?”
Chi Jingyan’s reactions were much slower than usual, but she still detected a hint of mockery and indifference in Jiang Mengyu’s words.
Her irritation grew more pronounced.
Who did Jiang Mengyu think she had mistaken her for?
Chu Muyao?
Chi Jingyan felt a surge of anger. She curled her lips into a cold smile. “Does it matter who you are?”
She didn’t understand why Jiang Mengyu kept fixating on this question.
For one thing, she wasn’t so oblivious as to confuse an Alpha with an Omega. And as for Chu Muyao, it wasn’t as if Jiang Mengyu was unaware of their relationship. Did she really think that allowing her to stay here meant accepting her confession?
Given Jiang Mengyu’s current status, what right did she have to act jealous?
From the very beginning, it had been made clear: Jiang Mengyu was nothing more than a dog she kept. Where did Jiang Mengyu get the idea that she had any right to control her?
At these words, Jiang Mengyu turned her head away, lips pressed tightly together, silent.
The gland at the back of her neck still throbbed with pain, spasming intermittently. Jiang Mengyu had no energy left to argue with Chi Jingyan.
Perhaps to Chi Jingyan, anyone other than Chu Muyao was interchangeable.
Only Chu Muyao was special.
Chi Jingyan didn’t speak either. Just moments ago, the two of them had been pressed close in intimacy. Even now, Chi Jingyan’s hand still rested on Jiang Mengyu’s shoulder. Yet the atmosphere had abruptly turned stiff, devoid of the earlier ambiguity.
Chi Jingyan was exhausted. Under the soothing influence of Jiang Mengyu’s pheromones, the restless agitation within her gradually subsided, replaced by boundless weariness and drowsiness.
She didn’t have the energy to ponder Jiang Mengyu’s thoughts, nor did she care about Jiang Mengyu’s feelings. All she wanted was to sleep.
The room still carried Jiang Mengyu’s scent. Chi Jingyan didn’t want to bother moving. As she watched Jiang Mengyu’s stubborn silence, her own defiance flared up in response.
Chi Jingyan had always been an unreasonable person. The more Jiang Mengyu tried to drive her away, the less she wanted to comply with Jiang Mengyu’s wishes.
So instead of leaving, Chi Jingyan straightened up, took a step back, and grabbed Jiang Mengyu’s collar, tugging her toward the bed. “Come here. Sleep with me.”
There was no special meaning behind her words. To her, Jiang Mengyu was like a body pillow or an obedient pet, she just needed to stay by Chi Jingyan’s side.
Jiang Mengyu stared at her without blinking. “This is my room.”
Chi Jingyan shot her a sidelong glance. “The entire house is mine.”
Where did Jiang Mengyu even get the idea that she had a room of her own?
This bedroom only barely belonged to Jiang Mengyu because Chi Jingyan had allowed it. If Chi Jingyan hadn’t given it to her, what claim did she have over it?
Jiang Mengyu fell silent.
An inexplicable irritation rose in Chi Jingyan’s chest. “Do you feel wronged?”
“Don’t forget, you asked for all of this yourself.”
“I never forced you.”
So she shouldn’t put on this pitiful act in front of her, Chi Jingyan didn’t like it.
After a long silence, Jiang Mengyu finally replied in a low voice, “I understand.”
Even System 031 felt a pang of sympathy watching this.
Though the protagonist wasn’t wrong, this was indeed something the host had sought out, Jiang Mengyu had just endured pain to suppress Chi Jingyan’s chaotic pheromones. Not only did Chi Jingyan not thank her, she didn’t even offer a single kind word.
031 silently ached for its host.
But it didn’t see the cold indifference in Jiang Mengyu’s half-lowered eyes, there wasn’t a trace of grievance in them.
Chi Jingyan grudgingly allotted a sliver of the bed’s edge to Jiang Mengyu.
Perhaps due to the lingering pheromones in her body, Chi Jingyan seemed slightly more tolerant of Jiang Mengyu than usual. The old her would never have allowed Jiang Mengyu to share her bed.
“Stay put. If you dare cross the line, I won’t let you off easy,” Chi Jingyan warned one last time before sleep.
“Mm,” Jiang Mengyu responded softly.
Despite her complaints, Chi Jingyan’s body was honest. Surrounded by the scent of jasmine, she closed her eyes and fell asleep quickly.
Jiang Mengyu, however, felt no drowsiness at all. She lay awake, listening as the breathing beside her grew slow and steady. Chi Jingyan slept soundly, but Jiang Mengyu couldn’t ignore her presence.
It had been a long time since she’d shared a bed with anyone.
The last time had been with Jiang Wanjing.
At the thought of her sister, Jiang Mengyu’s expression grew even more detached. She slowly closed her eyes, her sister’s voice echoing faintly in her ears.
“Jiaojiao…”
“Jiang Mengyu…”
Jiang Mengyu’s eyes snapped open. The voice from her memories seemed to overlap with reality. She turned her head slightly and saw that Chi Jingyan had somehow rolled over from the other side of the bed, pressing close to her.
Curled on her side with her eyes shut, Chi Jingyan wrapped an arm around Jiang Mengyu’s waist in her sleep.
“Don’t move…” she murmured.
Even in her dreams, she was domineering.
Jiang Mengyu confirmed that Chi Jingyan was still asleep, though she had no idea what she was dreaming about her brows were furrowed tightly.
Jiang Mengyu didn’t push her away. She remained still, letting Chi Jingyan cling to her, but a thought crossed her mind:
Chi Jingyan had warned her not to cross the line.
Yet the one who’d crossed it first was Chi Jingyan herself.
When she wakes up tomorrow, Chi Jingyan surely won’t blame her for being disobedient anymore, right?
