“I can be your most loyal dog.”
Chi Jingyan quickly dodged to the side, calling out in warning, “Jiang Mengyu!”
She knew Jiang Mengyu was up to no good!
Chi Jingyan was about to scold her, but Jiang Mengyu merely reached over to take the used syringe from her and tossed it into the trash.
Chi Jingyan’s face instantly flushed red, half in anger and half in embarrassment.
Jiang Mengyu lowered her gaze, staring at Chi Jingyan’s burning cheeks and the faint shimmer of moisture in her eyes, her tone growing more certain. “So you really were thinking about it.”
“I was not!” Chi Jingyan glared at her furiously.
Jiang Mengyu was definitely doing this on purpose!
They had only met twice in the past few days, and both times, Chi Jingyan had been provoked to the point of stomping her feet in anger nothing like the aloof and domineering demeanor described in the original story.
“You’re the one who was thinking about it!” Chi Jingyan gritted her teeth.
She had expected Jiang Mengyu to argue back, but instead, the other woman nodded in agreement.
“I do think about it quite a bit.”
Her gaze locked onto Chi Jingyan. “A-Yan, do you know how hard it’s been for me?”
Chi Jingyan paused, her eyes flashing with mockery. “Hard for you?”
Her dismissiveness was unmistakable. “Forgive me for not noticing.”
Jiang Mengyu’s gaze slid from Chi Jingyan’s eyes to her lips, which, likely due to her rising body temperature, had become even more flushed and plump than usual.
“Didn’t I tell you to stay away from Chu Miao?” Jiang Mengyu murmured.
This was exactly the kind of attitude Chi Jingyan hated the most. What made Jiang Mengyu think she had any right to dictate her actions?
Chi Jingyan didn’t respond, but the disdain in her eyes betrayed her true thoughts.
“Or,” Jiang Mengyu looked down at Chi Jingyan, “are you doing this on purpose?”
“Do you want to mark Chu Miao while you have the chance?”
Chi Jingyan had barely managed to calm herself down, but now Jiang Mengyu’s words nearly made her swear out loud. “I would never stoop to something so vile and despicable!”
She deliberately emphasized the words “vile and despicable,” her gaze lingering pointedly on Jiang Mengyu, clearly implying something.
Jiang Mengyu understood. She lowered her voice. “So this is how you see me.”
Chi Jingyan thought she heard a faint sigh, and her guard instantly went up. But after taking the suppressant, her body was too weak to resist. She could only watch helplessly as Jiang Mengyu moved closer.
A shadow fell over her.
Backlit, Jiang Mengyu’s silhouette was sharply outlined, but the emotions in her eyes were dark and unreadable, leaving Chi Jingyan unable to decipher them.
Chi Jingyan’s brows furrowed tightly, her voice low with suppressed anger. “Jiang Mengyu, what do you think you’re doing?!”
Jiang Mengyu knelt on the couch with one leg, bracing a hand beside Chi Jingyan’s head as she leaned down to meet her gaze.
Forced to tilt her head back, Chi Jingyan’s slender neck was fully exposed fragile and delicate yet she remained oblivious, glaring at Jiang Mengyu with displeasure.
“Get off,” Chi Jingyan ordered.
Jiang Mengyu didn’t speak. Without a moment’s hesitation, she decisively released her pheromones, enveloping Chi Jingyan in their scent.
The delicate fragrance of jasmine instantly filled the private room, its tendrils like soft yet firm tentacles tightly enveloping Chi Jingyan.
Chi Jingyan immediately felt her cheeks burning once more. Being suppressed by the pheromones of another Alpha should have made her feel nauseous and headache-ridden.
Yet for some reason, all she felt now was a parched throat.
That rich jasmine scent teased her sensitive nerves, like tiny hooks tugging at her heart, making it pound violently. Her breathing quickened, her limbs went weak in an instant, and she could only stare blankly at Jiang Mengyu with wide eyes.
Why was this happening?
Her mind grew hazy again.
With great effort, she raised her arm to cover her nose, but it did nothing to slow her rapid breathing or escape the inescapable, all-pervasive jasmine fragrance.
It filled her nostrils, seeped into her bloodstream with every breath, and stirred a restless heat throughout her body. A hidden desire seemed to rise from the depths of her heart, pulsing with each heartbeat as it invaded her mind, making her already dizzy head even more incapable of thought.
Shock and panic surged within Chi Jingyan.
Why?
Why did Jiang Mengyu’s pheromones not repel her, why did she even crave more?
What the hell had Chi Jia given her to drink?!
Too busy resisting this loss of control, Chi Jingyan had no time to consider how suggestive her expression might be. Her cheeks were flushed, and her usually icy eyes had somehow welled with hot tears, clinging to the corners of her lashes like dewdrops.
Gradually, another scent joined Jiang Mengyu’s pheromones in the room a sweet, pear-infused lychee wine. Its originally sharp aroma inexplicably grew cloying, intertwining eagerly with Jiang Mengyu’s jasmine until the two became indistinguishable.
Chi Jingyan’s vision blurred. She couldn’t make out Jiang Mengyu’s expression, only vaguely sensing that the other woman was watching her.
Damn Jiang Mengyu!
Exhaling a hot breath, Chi Jingyan mustered all her strength to push against Jiang Mengyu’s shoulder. “Get away.”
The feeble effort was like scratching an itch, Jiang Mengyu didn’t budge. She took in every detail of Chi Jingyan’s state, waiting until the latter seemed on the verge of collapse before leisurely withdrawing her pheromones.
The lingering jasmine in the room grew fainter, leaving only the persistent sweetness of pear and lychee wine.
Jiang Mengyu patiently waited for Chi Jingyan’s breathing to steady.
She reached out to wipe the tears from Chi Jingyan’s eyes, her voice low. “A-Yan, are you okay?”
And whose fault was it that she ended up like this?!
Regaining a sliver of clarity, Chi Jingyan tilted her head away from Jiang Mengyu’s touch, then raised her arm and slapped her without hesitation.
“Get lost!”
The strike lacked force, Jiang Mengyu barely felt it but it carried a warning all its own.
Instead of anger, Jiang Mengyu let out a soft chuckle. “Feel better now?”
“If not, why not hit me a couple more times?”
She tilted her head, offering the other cheek.
In her daze, Chi Jingyan could have sworn she saw something like anticipation and excitement flicker in Jiang Mengyu’s eyes.
This pervert!
Chi Jingyan clenched her fists, gritting her teeth as she muttered under her breath, “I won’t let you off the hook.”
This was already the second time!
Did Jiang Mengyu really think she wouldn’t dare to do anything to her?
Still seething with anger, Chi Jingyan spat out another insult, “Mad dog!”
Hearing herself called a mad dog, Jiang Mengyu couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow. “Then how do you plan to retaliate against me?”
The corners of her lips curled up, her tone laced with mockery. “Will you lock me up, chain me, make me call you master, turn me into a dog that only obeys you, one that belongs solely to you?”
She seemed utterly unaware of how outrageous her words were, speaking as if joking, yet there was a glint of eagerness in her eyes.
Chi Jingyan was stunned into silence by her perverse remarks.
“You!”
Jiang Mengyu was truly a complete and utter lunatic!
Only now did Chi Jingyan realize she could never judge Jiang Mengyu by the standards of a normal person.
Who in their right mind would be so eager to become someone else’s dog?
Forcing herself to look away, Chi Jingyan scoffed, “Is this your attitude for wanting to be a dog?”
She had never seen a dog that dared to defy its master.
Jiang Mengyu knew exactly what she meant and explained, “I was just a little jealous.”
For once, she was unexpectedly honest.
“Ah Yan, stop looking at Chu Muyao. I’ll get jealous, I’ll resent it.”
“Can’t you spare just a little of the affection you have for her and give it to me?” Jiang Mengyu’s voice carried a pleading tone.
“What right do you have to compare yourself to Muyao?” Chi Jingyan’s words were cruel and merciless. “At the very least, Muyao has never once disobeyed me.”
Her tone dripped with the arrogance and superiority of an Alpha.
“And you?”
“You claim to like me, yet you always do things that anger me, even going so far as to suppress me with your pheromones time and again.”
“Is this what you call ‘liking’ me?”
Jiang Mengyu fell silent for a long moment before speaking. “I just wanted you to know.”
“I would never hurt you, Ah Yan.”
If she truly wanted to harm Chi Jingyan, she could have easily taken advantage earlier and marked her without restraint, Chi Jingyan wouldn’t have been able to resist.
Jiang Mengyu only wanted Chi Jingyan to understand that she had the capability, but she would never act on it.
She wasn’t as despicable as Chi Jingyan believed.
Chi Jingyan said nothing.
The two locked eyes in silence until, after what felt like an eternity, Jiang Mengyu finally heard Chi Jingyan speak coldly:
“Why should I believe you?”
Jiang Mengyu answered swiftly, “Give me a place by your side, and I’ll prove my sincerity to you.”
“I’ll obey you.”
She paused, her voice dropping even lower. “Only you.”
Jiang Mengyu’s eyes were dark and fathomless, her voice soft and slow, yet carrying an inexplicable allure, as if luring Chi Jingyan into her trap.
Chi Jingyan studied her uncertainly for a long time before finally sneering, “I don’t lack people around me, only a loyal dog.”
Didn’t Jiang Mengyu want to be a dog?
She’d grant her wish.
Jiang Mengyu was silent for a few seconds before lowering her head and murmuring, “I understand.”
Chi Jingyan neither confirmed nor denied it. “You’d better.”
After a pause, she quickly added, “From now on, you’re not allowed to call me ‘Ah Yan’!”
Was that a name Jiang Mengyu was even worthy of uttering?
Jiang Mengyu lifted her gaze. “Then what should I call you?”
She looked at Chi Jingyan, her eyes betraying deeper, hidden emotions.
“Master?”
