The Blind Alpha Coveted by the Frail Beauty Omega - Chapter 32
Setting Things Right
Wei Jiangxue felt as though her brain was about to overheat and crash. Every word from Mi Ruian, every movement, left her with nowhere to hide.
The instigator, however, seemed quite satisfied with her reaction. She buried her face back into Wei Jiangxue’s waist, nuzzling her, and said in a low voice—one that was almost coquettish yet carried an indisputable strength: “Stay and lie with me a while longer. Although it was only a temporary mark, an Omega is usually very tired after being marked.”
Dizzily, Wei Jiangxue was persuaded by Mi Ruian to lie back down, but then she suddenly snapped her eyes open. “Wait! How much… how much time has passed?”
“A week. An Alpha’s rut usually lasts five to six days, though someone like you seems to be an exception,” Mi Ruian replied with a lazy yawn.
“It’s over! I didn’t ask for leave from my livestream!” Wei Jiangxue scrambled out of bed in a panic. Unfamiliar with the new room, she had no idea which way to go.
And… the most critical problem remained unresolved. According to Mi Ruian, Wei Jiangxue had made the first move, and the absurd events followed from there. Wei Jiangxue should, and must, take responsibility for this.
“About the two of us…” Wei Jiangxue hesitated, searching for a way to offer compensation.
Amidst her chaotic thoughts, the most direct solution surfaced—money. It was the best thing Wei Jiangxue could offer.
Would Mi Ruian accept it? She was the eldest daughter of the Mi Group. In a family like that, even a “starving camel is bigger than a horse.” Even if Mi Feng had seized part of her inheritance, there would be trust funds to back her up. Not to mention, Mi Ruian had already started her own business and shown early talent; how could she be short on money? Even the residence she had kindly provided for Wei Jiangxue was located in a prime district that countless people dreamed of owning.
Still, Wei Jiangxue blurted out her method of atonement, desperate to make up for her offense against Mi Ruian: “I’ve saved up some money from livestreaming! It’s not much, but I can keep saving to give to you! Also, if you have any other compensation in mind, or… any other requests, as long as it’s within my power, I will help you!”
At that moment, there was a rustling sound beside her.
Mi Ruian slowly sat up, the thin quilt sliding down to reveal her elegant neckline, still marked with lingering traces of intimacy.
She didn’t reply immediately, instead silently watching as Wei Jiangxue looked ready to hand over her entire life savings.
“Money? Do you think I need such a thing? As for compensation…” Mi Ruian’s voice trailed upward, her emotions unreadable. “I actually have a good idea.”
“Tell me. If it’s within my capability, I’ll work hard to do it!” Wei Jiangxue leaned slightly toward her, showing her sincerity.
Seeing that the person in front of her had taken the bait, the corners of Mi Ruian’s mouth curved upward. “I think we might be quite compatible. You know, Omegas have heat cycles, and I don’t want to always rely on suppressants to get through them. You are quite good, so I’ll give you a chance to compensate me: stay with me during my special periods, and give me temporary marks and Alpha pheromones according to my orders.”
Wei Jiangxue froze, “looking” at her blankly. “This…”
For a moment, Wei Jiangxue was speechless. It seemed this request was indeed within her capability, but… it wasn’t logical, was it? In the original plotline, the Alpha cannonball she played was never supposed to develop such a relationship with the protagonist!
Wei Jiangxue was blind, but at this moment, she felt like her world had gone completely dark. Her mind went instantly blank.
Had she accidentally broken the original plotline? Wei Jiangxue felt like she was about to have a breakdown herself.
“You… let me think about it. I’m afraid I can’t give you an answer immediately… I’ll tell you once I’ve figured it out.” When faced with an unsolvable problem, Wei Jiangxue believed in the tactic of “delaying.” She had to wait until she could reconnect with 233 so the human and system could discuss a strategy.
Mi Ruian agreed readily, her eyes holding a hint of pity as she looked at Wei Jiangxue—as if she were watching prey about to fall into her hands.
“Since I’m giving you time to consider, you have to pay a price, don’t you? I don’t ask for much.” Mi Ruian spoke with a smile. “You only need to answer one question—”
“What question?” Wei Jiangxue’s eyelid jumped, a bad premonition surging in her heart.
Mi Ruian’s voice was so calm it was chilling: “When we were in bed, I asked you, and you said you didn’t approach me of your own free will. So, who sent you to get close to me?”
What? Wei Jiangxue was completely dumbfounded. How did Mi Ruian know so much?
Had she been such a big mouth during her rut? Just how much had she revealed?
She surely couldn’t have spilled everything, otherwise, Mi Ruian wouldn’t still be questioning her. But then again, maybe Mi Ruian was bluffing…
Considering her cooperation agreement with System 233 and the Transmigration Bureau, Wei Jiangxue could only grit her teeth and refuse to admit anything.
Wei Jiangxue’s face still bore a lingering flush, and her voice was very soft, as if she were genuinely confused: “Hmm? What are you talking about? Did I say something while my head was clouded during the rut? Words spoken at a time like that aren’t very credible, and I don’t even know what happened myself. Do you really believe what I said then?”
She tried to push everything onto the sensory confusion and loss of control typical of an Alpha’s rut.
No matter what Mi Ruian asked, Wei Jiangxue would insist that she couldn’t remember and was just talking nonsense.
“Were you suspecting that someone sent me to get close to you?” Wei Jiangxue frowned and shook her head. “How is that possible? Even when Mi Feng tried to bribe me, I didn’t agree. Do you think you have any enemies more powerful than him? Besides, I lived in that rental house for a long time. How could I have known in advance that you would move in there?”
The room was deathly silent.
But Wei Jiangxue knew that Mi Ruian’s gaze was scanning her back and forth, as if evaluating the truth and credibility of her words.
Among the usually gentle freesia pheromones, a hint of wariness and panic quietly emerged. Meanwhile, the rose pheromones, which should have been more intense, displayed a rare gesture of tolerance.
Mi Ruian watched Wei Jiangxue’s performance—watched her effort to appear innocent and ignorant, and her breathing, which quickened due to nervousness.
Mi Ruian let out a soft sigh. “I’m sorry… in the past, far too many people have approached me with ulterior motives. But no one has ever been as close to me as you, so for a moment, I wasn’t sure. I was afraid you were also being calculating… I believe you.”
In that sigh, there was no anger, only helplessness and indulgence.
She reached out gently, smoothing the hair from Wei Jiangxue’s forehead and tucking it behind her ear to reveal her whole face. The movement was so tender that Wei Jiangxue’s entire body went stiff.
“Ruts are indeed like that. I can tell you rarely relieve yourself, so when the desire hits, the reaction is even stronger.” Mi Ruian withdrew her hand, her tone turning steady again. “It is very normal for consciousness to be muddled during a rut.”
Before Wei Jiangxue could think about whether she had successfully bluffed her way through, Mi Ruian had already lifted the quilt to get out of bed.
“I’m going to take a shower. You can rest a bit longer.”
Wei Jiangxue clutched the quilt and called out, “Can you help me call Xiao Dong in? I’m not familiar with the room’s layout yet!”
“Okay,” Mi Ruian replied briefly, and then Wei Jiangxue heard the door open.
Left alone on the messy bed, Wei Jiangxue’s mind was blank until Xiao Dong came running in happily: “Master, Xiao Dong is here! Please give your orders if you need anything!”
“Help me…” Wei Jiangxue was about to ask Xiao Dong to bring her clothes, but fragments of memory began to resurface in her mind—
Burning palms pressed together, breaths entwined. When her consciousness was about to drift away, she seemed to have cried.
Tears fell one by one onto Mi Ruian’s collarbone, and Wei Jiangxue buried her face in the other woman’s shoulder, murmuring incessantly: “…I hate this world so much… Damn this rut! Damn these Alphas! Damn this ABO world! When can I go home…”
There seemed to be more, but Wei Jiangxue couldn’t recall it.
If it were just that, it might have been fine, but Mi Ruian had heard everything. After a sudden pause, she had begun to question Wei Jiangxue: “Then, what were you originally?”
And she herself, after a total release of emotion, had sobbed out the secret: “What else could I be? A human without a gland! After coming here, the gland just grew on its own… and then this nonsensical rut started coming too…”
The memory stopped there. Wei Jiangxue frantically covered her mouth, her blood running cold.
No wonder Mi Ruian had asked her that just now. She really had said things she shouldn’t have…
So, Mi Ruian hadn’t believed her excuse; she had simply chosen to let her go.
Despite knowing she was lying, despite knowing she carried a shocking secret, the protagonist of this world still hadn’t forced her to tell the truth…
Why?
Wei Jiangxue didn’t know.
She only knew that the relief of narrowly passing the test had vanished, replaced by a much more unspeakable sense of dread.
【System 233: Host! Host! I was worried to death! I finally reconnected to the communication channel!】
233’s voice sounded like divine music. Wei Jiangxue sat up quickly, wanting to communicate. Mindful of Xiao Dong’s presence, she spoke to the system in her mind: 【You’re finally here! I think I’ve made things much worse!】
【System 233: Don’t panic, take it slow.】
Wei Jiangxue sniffled and sent Xiao Dong to get clothes while she exchanged information with 233: 【During these days of my rut, I was completely unconscious… when I woke up, I had already marked Mi Ruian, though it was only a temporary mark… and then I might have ruined the plotline. I also accidentally told Mi Ruian that I wasn’t from this world while I was out of it…】
【System 233: Just that? Anything else?】
Wei Jiangxue nodded.
She heard 233 let out a long sigh of relief. Then it began to speak, with no intention of blaming her: 【It’s like this: when I couldn’t contact you, I did notice the OOC (Out of Character) level was skyrocketing. However, the world’s consciousness took the initiative to find me and helped lift the restrictions of that value for us. It didn’t explain why, but I suspect it’s a butterfly effect caused by the plot changes. Next, we might have to stay here for a while longer to set things right.】
Since it was a mess she had created, Wei Jiangxue had no complaints. She immediately agreed: 【Okay, I’ll listen to you. Do we still need to do the original tasks?】
【System 233: Unsure. Everything from now on will be in the form of random tasks. We’ll have to rely on our ability to adapt.】
