The Black Lotus Omega Always Wraps His Tail Around Me - Chapter 44
Under the influence of the love curse, the tension between the two slowly began to ease.
Fu Suihe returned to her usual fragile and pitiful expression, raising her eyes to look at Ji Yanwan, waiting for her to give in.
Standing behind them, Hu Luobei frowned as she observed the subtle shift between the two. If Ji Yanwan softened because of the love curse and chose to side with Fu Suihe, then what would happen to Zhao Mumu, whom she had just defended?
Hu Luobei still didn’t dare to look directly at Fu Suihe. The shock from last time had left her fearful of close contact with anyone. But Zhao Mumu was different.
In her heart, Hu Luobei believed Zhao Mumu was not a bad person.
Just as Ji Yanwan’s expression was softening, Hu Luobei boldly stepped forward and bumped her head into Ji Yanwan’s side.
The bump was harder than expected, and Ji Yanwan stumbled forward a few steps before she regained her balance.
Everyone present was stunned for a moment. Before Fu Suihe could react, Hu Luobei immediately apologized.
“I’m sorry, I wasn’t watching where I was going while playing with my phone.” She kept her head down, trembling from head to toe.
She was terrified of Fu Suihe, especially of that fluffy fox tail wrapping around her again and suffocating her.
Just the thought of it made her shiver more violently.
Her apology sounded sincere, and the phone in her hand had really flown out during the bump. She hadn’t stopped shaking since.
The interruption broke Ji Yanwan’s intense eye contact with Fu Suihe and brought her back to herself. She bent down, picked up Hu Luobei’s phone, and said softly, “It’s all right.”
When Ji Yanwan looked up again at Fu Suihe, she was startled by how close she had been to giving in. Had it not been for Hu Luobei’s interruption, she might have apologized.
The realization unsettled her. She decided to stand her ground.
Hu Luobei quickly glanced up and saw that the charm from the curse had settled. The emotional pull had calmed down after her interruption.
Fu Suihe, however, did not look pleased. Her eyes locked tightly onto Hu Luobei, the intensity of her stare making Hu Luobei tremble again.
The frightened rabbit lowered her head even more, hands clenched nervously.
The atmosphere froze once again. Fu Suihe stood silently, her eyes red with frustration as she stared at Ji Yanwan.
Zhao Mumu, standing behind Ji Yanwan, dared not lift her head. Beside her, Hu Luobei was still trembling with fear.
The four of them stood in silence, and time seemed to stretch unbearably.
In the end, it was Ji Yanwan who broke the silence.
“Thank you for helping me get out of the scene,” she said with a long sigh. Then she looked down at Zhao Mumu and added, “I’m sorry. I’ll apologize on behalf of Suihe. Please don’t take today’s events to heart.”
No one expected Ji Yanwan to be the first to apologize. The reactions from the other three were all different.
Fu Suihe looked completely shocked that Ji Yanwan would take the initiative.
Zhao Mumu was equally stunned. She fumbled for words, her guilt surfacing as she regretted getting involved and making things worse for Ji Yanwan.
“Suihe,” Ji Yanwan called softly.
Their eyes met. Ji Yanwan’s tone was calm and gentle, but Fu Suihe could see the exhaustion behind it.
She didn’t know why, but at that moment, Fu Suihe felt that if she didn’t apologize, Ji Yanwan would be truly disappointed in her.
That loss of control felt terrible.
She lowered her head and mumbled, “I’m sorry.”
Even more unexpected than Ji Yanwan’s apology was Fu Suihe following suit.
Zhao Mumu felt completely overwhelmed. She blamed herself for creating tension between them and for unintentionally hurting their relationship.
Ji Yanwan didn’t seem to notice Zhao Mumu’s guilt. The sky had turned completely dark, and the lanterns all around began to glow.
Light fell gently on Fu Suihe’s shoulders. She stood facing Ji Yanwan, and behind her stretched endless darkness.
Though she had apologized, Fu Suihe still kept her head down, her posture stubborn and unyielding.
Looking at her, Ji Yanwan felt her heart soften again.
With a sigh, she reached out and pulled the girl into her arms.
Fu Suihe hadn’t expected Ji Yanwan to hug her. Wrapped in her warm embrace, she gave a small, instinctive struggle.
But Ji Yanwan only hugged her tighter.
Zhao Mumu watched the two of them embrace and let out a quiet sigh.
There was no longer any reason for her to stay. Just as she was about to turn and leave, a small warm hand gently touched hers.
She lowered her eyes and saw a fair, delicate hand resting over her own.
Looking up, she met a pair of clear, bright eyes.
Hu Luobei’s hand tightened slightly. Under the warm lantern light, her smile was as bright and gentle as the glow itself.
After returning to the room, Fu Suihe was still quiet. She sat silently on the sofa, clearly sulking.
Ji Yanwan understood she was being pouty and also knew she had spoken harshly earlier. With a sigh, she sat down beside her to offer comfort.
But just as she sat, Fu Suihe suddenly lunged forward and wrapped her arms around Ji Yanwan’s neck.
Ji Yanwan didn’t have time to react. She was pulled into a tight hug, her face buried in Fu Suihe’s hair.
She had washed her hair the day before, and they used the same shampoo and conditioner, but Ji Yanwan still felt like Fu Suihe smelled better.
Then the girl in her arms shifted slightly, and soft sobs followed.
Ji Yanwan froze, unsure of what to do.
She had expected Fu Suihe to be stubborn, to throw a tantrum or start a fight, to ask why she didn’t take her side.
But she had never expected her to cry.
The sudden tears left Ji Yanwan flustered. Heart aching, she reached out and gently held the girl in her arms.
Fu Suihe continued to cry softly. Ji Yanwan didn’t know how long they sat like that, but when the tears finally stopped, she looked down and realized Fu Suihe had cried herself to sleep.
Looking at the tear-streaked face resting against her, Ji Yanwan let out a soft sigh.
When they first met, she thought Fu Suihe was clever and calculating. Later, she discovered that beneath the gentle surface was a girl with sharp edges. Somewhere along the way, after falling for her, Ji Yanwan had seen another side.
A side that no longer pretended to be gentle. A girl who threw tantrums and gave orders. But also, a girl who lowered her head when she was wrong.
She would also quietly cry into her own shoulder after being wronged.
Ji Yanwan felt a mix of emotions stirring in her heart. She had never understood love before. In her eyes, the love described in novels always came too suddenly, unrealistically. That was until she met Fu Suihe.
He was a man full of mystery, someone she still could not fully understand. Yet, he had the ability to easily stir her emotions.
That night felt especially long. The person beside her had already fallen into a deep sleep. The steady sound of his breathing in the darkness brought a sense of comfort.
But Ji Yanwan did not sleep at all. She stared into the dark, trying to figure out what it was about Fu Suihe that had made her fall for him.
This feeling had come far too suddenly. So suddenly that she could not find any clues or trace of it in her memory.
Even when the sky began to lighten and she finally drifted off, she still had no answer.
Ji Yanwan slept for less than two hours.
Then came a knock at the door.
Bai Li stood outside, knocking persistently. On the third round of knocks, the door was suddenly pulled open.
Fu Suihe held the door with one hand, rubbing his eyes with the other.
When they saw each other clearly, both were a little surprised.
That morning, Bai Li had heard about what had happened on set the night before. However, she had been busy these last few days investigating the anonymous flower deliveries, so she had paid little attention to the crew’s recent events.
Even so, the news had shocked her. In her impression, Ji Yanwan was madly in love with Fu Suihe.
And yet, Ji had actually asked Fu Suihe to apologize to Zhao Mumu. What surprised Bai Li even more was that Fu Suihe had actually agreed.
That was a huge shock, especially since Ji Yanwan’s daily behavior on set clearly showed she was completely absorbed in love.
But now, the person leaning sleepily against the doorframe looked pale, and his eyes seemed slightly swollen.
It seemed like the two of them had another fight last night.
Bai Li was not a nosy person. She quickly pushed aside her curiosity and asked, “Where is Miss Ji, the third young lady?”
Fu Suihe yawned and replied, “She’s still asleep. Is something the matter, Miss Bai?”
“Yes,” Bai Li said. “Please wake her up for me. The second young lady will be coming to pick her up personally.”
Ji Mingtao?
The drowsy Fu Suihe instantly became alert.
He tensed up without realizing it and tried to act relaxed. “Second sister? Why is she coming?”
“There’s a banquet at the Zhao family’s house tonight,” Bai Li replied, glancing at Fu Suihe. “Miss Fu, you should also pick out a gown. I just saw an invitation at your door.”
She reached up and removed a dark red envelope from the doorframe. Fu Suihe’s name was written neatly on it.
The handwriting clearly belonged to Zhao Mumu. It matched the style on the personal invitation she had given Ji Yanwan.
Looking at the invitation, Fu Suihe finally relaxed a little.
When he looked up again, his expression had softened.
Having delivered the message, Bai Li glanced at the still-sleeping Ji Yanwan, then turned and left without saying more.
Fu Suihe looked at the invitation in his hand, then at the person still asleep in bed. Whatever drowsiness he had left was gone. Moving quietly, he took out his phone and stepped out of the room.
Before leaving, he gently closed the door behind him.
At this hour, Wuzhen was still asleep. A soft mist lingered over the distant hills.
Fu Suihe quietly dialed a number. It was quickly answered.
Abu had just gotten up and her voice was still a bit hoarse. She let out a soft hum of acknowledgment.
Fu Suihe spoke softly, “Abu, send another bouquet to Cheng Qi. Invite her to the banquet tonight and ask if she can pick me up this evening.”
Abu immediately became alert. She sat up straight, holding her phone tightly. “Should I use the same signature as before?”
“Yes,” Fu Suihe said. “Eno Ji.”
