The Black Lotus Omega Always Wraps His Tail Around Me - Chapter 23
Ji Yanwan looked at the person leaning toward her, and her mind instantly went blank.
The little bell swayed gently, but the person wearing it remained perfectly still.
Ji Yanwan couldn’t handle the way she was being looked at, so she closed her eyes and helped her unfasten the collar.
“I don’t like this. I just wanted to tease you a little.”
Fu Suihe tilted her head and looked at her, her eyes full of confusion.
“No, that’s not what I meant.”
The explanation only made things worse. Ji Yanwan’s hands trembled slightly as she removed the collar from Fu Suihe’s neck and then quickly buttoned her shirt back up.
She then grabbed the clothes Fu Suihe had been holding and tossed them far away as if they were a bomb.
When she pulled back the curtain, the sales assistant’s eyes immediately shifted toward them, her gaze lingering with a knowing smile.
Ji Yanwan was speechless.
The assistant stepped forward and glanced at the discarded collar and the clothes that had been flung across the room.
“Would you two like to look at anything else? We have many more styles in the store.”
Before Fu Suihe could say a word, Ji Yanwan quickly replied,
“No, thank you. We’re done.”
The assistant asked,
“Shall I pack the set you opened earlier?”
“Pack it… yes, please.” Ji Yanwan didn’t want to look at it at all as she followed the assistant to the counter to pay.
Fu Suihe stayed behind and watched her flustered figure walk away. She couldn’t help but let out a small laugh.
She wasn’t sure if it was just her imagination, but Ji Yanwan had seemed almost innocent for a moment there.
After paying, Ji Yanwan had no intention of carrying the bag herself. However, the very committed sales assistant chased after her with it and personally placed it in her hands.
Ji Yanwan stood silently, holding what now felt like a time bomb.
Regretting every decision that led to this, she quickened her pace and walked far ahead.
At the same time, in the Ji family’s office, someone’s phone buzzed during a meeting.
Ji Mingtao glanced at the notification. It was a spending alert from the linked card, showing a recent purchase at a lingerie store.
Her mouth twitched, and she quickly turned off the screen, continuing her presentation.
This, she thought, was the sister she remembered. The responsible image she had just started rebuilding in her mind completely crumbled again.
After escaping the lingerie store, the two spent the rest of the day walking around, shopping, and eating.
As the sky darkened, they finally started heading back. Along the way, Fu Suihe tasted many things she had never even heard of before. Each time her gaze lingered on something for more than three seconds, Ji Yanwan bought it for her without hesitation.
Overly sweet cotton candy, ice cream so cold it made her molars ache, and cheap but varied trinkets in little boutique shops — everything was new to Fu Suihe.
Later, when Fu Suihe recalled these moments, she realized they had shared genuinely happy times. But the happiest moments were often the ones that couldn’t be captured or recorded.
By the time the car stopped in front of the house, Fu Suihe had already fallen asleep on Ji Yanwan’s shoulder. Her sleeping posture was restless, with her brows lightly furrowed.
Ji Yanwan’s arm was sore, and she resisted the urge to move several times. Honestly, she was a sucker for beauty, and having someone this pretty sleep on her shoulder was a wonderful experience.
However…
Dear Host, your behavior has deviated from the cold and dominant Alpha role. Please correct yourself immediately.
Reminder: Never develop emotional attachment toward an NPC.
A sudden jolt shot through Ji Yanwan’s lower back, causing her to flinch. The person sleeping on her shoulder stirred, rubbing her eyes and yawning.
“What’s wrong?” Fu Suihe wasn’t fully awake. She rubbed her eyes and sat up groggily.
On her wrist was a little fox-shaped snap bracelet. The tail of the fox was long and flat like a ruler, and when snapped onto the wrist, it curled into a loop, looking like a red tail wrapped around her arm.
It was her favorite little toy from the day.
Ji Yanwan gave a stiff shake of her head. Under the glow of the evening light, Fu Suihe’s face looked breathtakingly beautiful. Her bright eyes sparkled like a sky full of stars.
“What’s your address? I’ll ask the driver to take you home first,” Ji Yanwan said, looking away from her gaze, avoiding those shining eyes. “It’s too late for you to go back alone. It’s not safe.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Fu Suihe’s expression turned gloomy. She blinked slowly and looked troubled.
Ji Yanwan noticed the shift in her mood.
“What’s wrong?”
“I… might not have a home to go back to,” Fu Suihe replied softly, pressing her lips together. “My uncle was very angry with me today. He probably won’t let me in.”
Ji Yanwan’s expression darkened. She sat up straight.
“Drive to the Fu residence.”
The driver immediately turned the car around. The wheels rolled over the quiet night roads. Unlike earlier, neither of them slept on the way back.
Fu Suihe sat nervously, fingers clasped tightly. She looked like a child who had done something wrong, stealing glances at Ji Yanwan, then quickly lowering her eyes.
Each time she looked, Ji Yanwan wanted to respond. But the system’s warning echoed in her mind.
She was not supposed to develop feelings for an NPC.
The driver continued on calmly, completely unfazed by the tense atmosphere in the back seat. Before long, they arrived at the Fu residence.
The Fu family was indeed one of the Four Great Houses. Their ancestral home was nothing short of grand. The courtyard had traditional white walls and black tiles, with two stone lions guarding the gate. A circle of lucky bamboo had been planted out front.
The driver stepped out and opened the door for Ji Yanwan. It was nearly midnight, and the Fu family’s main gate was already shut.
From inside the courtyard, a security guard emerged from the gatehouse, gripping a metal baton.
“Who are you people? What are you doing here so late?”
The driver gave him a brief glance and said,
“Third Miss Ji is bringing Miss Fu home. Please open the gate.”
The guard waved his hand impatiently.
“What Miss Fu? Our Second Miss already returned hours ago.”
Ji Yanwan frowned.
“How many young misses does your Fu family have? Don’t you even know that?”
The guard hesitated. Her tone and expression were both stern. Of course he knew who Third Miss Ji was, but his boss had come home in a terrible mood earlier and explicitly ordered that Fu Suihe was not allowed back in. Now the guard could only stand there awkwardly.
Behind Ji Yanwan, Fu Suihe stepped out of the car. Her face had gone pale, and she tugged gently at Ji Yanwan’s sleeve.
“Wan, maybe we should just forget it. I can get a hotel room somewhere.”
Ji Yanwan gently patted the back of her hand and said to the guard,
“I understand you’re in a tough position. Just go and let your boss know.”
The guard stammered,
“Miss Ji, you know I’m just a gatekeeper. When the boss came home, he was furious. He said… well…”
“What did he say?” Ji Yanwan asked, her expression darkening.
The guard lowered his voice,
“He said Miss Fu is already yours. She’s not allowed through the Fu family gates anymore. If I go ask again, I might lose my job.”
He looked genuinely troubled, his hand gripping the baton trembling slightly.
Ji Yanwan clenched her jaw. She didn’t want to make things more difficult for the guard. For a moment, she considered whether breaking down the gate would be worth it. Would it wake the entire household?
But after a second, she dismissed the idea. Even if it didn’t wake the Fu family, the guard would definitely lose his job.
She sighed and said,
“Alright, you can go. Thanks for trying.”
The guard let out a breath of relief and released the tension in his grip. He bowed deeply.
“Thank you, Third Miss Ji.”
Back in the car, Ji Yanwan leaned against the seat, staring blankly ahead.
The driver asked,
“Where should we go now, Miss Ji?”
Ji Yanwan glanced to the side. Fu Suihe was sitting upright, her left hand gripping her right, gently squeezing the small fox bracelet on her wrist.
Fu Suihe said softly,
“Thank you for today. You can just drop me off along the street. Don’t worry about me.”
“Along the street?” Ji Yanwan frowned.
“Wouldn’t it make more sense to get a hotel room?”
Fu Suihe lowered her eyes and whispered,
“Actually, I don’t have any money.”
The answer surprised Ji Yanwan. After all, she was a film queen. How could she not have enough for a room?
Fu Suihe saw the confusion on her face and explained,
“My salary is deposited directly into the company’s account. My uncle never gives me any personal allowance. But it’s fine. If I walk along the riverside, I can watch the sunrise. Once it’s morning, I’ll go back and apologize. He’ll calm down after a few days.”
Ji Yanwan frowned again.
“Do you do this often?”
Fu Suihe bit her lip and nodded.
“My parents are gone, so…”
So there was no one to stand up for her.
Ji Yanwan remembered the time Fu Suihe had been shoved into a river. When Ji Yanwan had pushed through the crowd to reach her, Fu Suihe had only then begun to cry, dazed and silent before that.
A warm sensation spread across Ji Yanwan’s chest, as if that part of her shirt where Fu Suihe once wept had gotten soaked again, and the rain had returned.
It seemed like every time she met Fu Suihe, the girl was always unlucky. Why couldn’t this story be one of healing and redemption?
Ji Yanwan looked at her seriously.
“Come home with me. You don’t have to wander alone until sunrise ever again.”
Her voice was calm, but each word landed with weight.
Fu Suihe looked up and locked eyes with her. The passing lights from outside the car painted her features, and Ji Yanwan’s gray eyes sparkled. Under the warm orange light of the car’s interior, her gaze reflected a soft ring of light.
That ring looked like a home.
Ji Yanwan had said she wanted to take her home.
In that ring of light, Fu Suihe felt herself slip for a moment, as if she were being pulled in.
But the red thread bracelet on her wrist pressed gently against her skin, pricking her back to reality.
She had no home. She did not need anyone to give her one.
All she needed was revenge.
Fu Suihe clenched her teeth, holding tightly to her original purpose. She reminded herself that the person she was now existed only for vengeance.
