The Black Lotus Omega Always Wraps His Tail Around Me - Chapter 21
Fu Suihe sat down beside her as told, a hint of joy in her eyes.
But the happiness didn’t last long, because she quickly realized that Ji Yanwan’s gaze never once landed on her.
Once everyone had arrived, the dishes started to come out. Ji Mingtao had personally ordered the entire menu based on her and Ji Hesong’s preferences. Each dish looked more appetizing than the last.
Ji Yanwan behaved like she had come here only to eat. She focused entirely on removing the small bones from her fish.
There were not many bones in the belly of the fish, so she cleaned it quickly, then picked up the piece of meat with her chopsticks.
Fu Suihe followed her movements with her eyes, watching closely as the fish landed—not in her bowl, but in Ji Hesong’s.
Her mood dropped instantly. A moment ago, she had foolishly thought that piece of fish was meant for her.
After giving away the fish, Ji Yanwan picked a few more dishes before setting down the serving chopsticks and quietly focusing on her meal.
Fu Suihe clenched her teeth as she watched her eat with such elegance, her heart growing colder.
It didn’t matter. There was still time. No matter how proud Ji Yanwan acted now, eventually, she would fall right into her hands.
With that thought, Fu Suihe managed to calm down and began eating as well.
The Ji family followed strict rules. No talking during meals, no chatter during rest.
So every time Fu Leiwu tried to start a conversation, Ji Hesong calmly ignored him.
The room fell into silence. The large, open space made the quiet feel even more tense and awkward.
The Fu family barely ate a few bites. Each mouthful felt difficult, and they soon set their chopsticks down.
Originally, the phone call from Ji Mingtao’s secretary had been about discussing an engagement. But since arriving, the Fu family had been met with cold attitudes, and none of the Ji elders were present.
Fu Leiwu was visibly holding in his anger, shooting sharp glances at Fu Suihe from time to time.
His gaze was so aggressive that it became impossible to ignore.
Annoyed, Ji Yanwan slammed her chopsticks down and said coldly, “Is the food not to your taste, Mr. Fu?”
No one expected her to slam her chopsticks, and everyone turned to look.
With her face expressionless, Ji Yanwan picked up her napkin and wiped her mouth, her eyes fixed on Fu Leiwu with a chilling stare.
Her gaze was direct, filled with open disdain.
Fu Leiwu grew uneasy under her glare and looked away. “I’m not sure what you mean by that, Yanwan.”
“Just eat your own food and mind your own business,” Ji Yanwan replied. “People shouldn’t eat from their own bowl while staring at the pot. You know that saying, don’t you, Mr. Fu?”
Her words carried heavy meaning. No matter how he responded, Fu Leiwu would look bad.
Ji Hesong also set down her chopsticks and pressed the service button. “Bring a new set of dishes for Third Miss.”
The waitstaff acted quickly. In moments, the table was clean, as if nothing had happened.
Ji Yanwan leaned back in her chair with arms crossed and said coldly, “It looks like Mr. Fu won’t be able to enjoy this meal unless we clear the air.”
“Then let me be clear. I’m marrying Fu Suihe, not forming an alliance with the Fu family. I hope you understand the difference.”
Her words were sharp and unapologetic. Fu Yunkai, who had been holding his temper for a while, finally snapped. “You only have any status because of your two older sisters. What gives you the right to act so arrogant?”
Ji Hesong gave a cold laugh. “And what gives you the right to speak to my sister like that?”
As the atmosphere grew more heated, Fu Leiwu forced a smile and said, “Blame me. I didn’t raise my son properly. Hesong, please don’t take it to heart.”
“I was just being cautious. Suihe has had a difficult life. You know about her parents. Now that she’s finally found someone, I just want to make sure she’s in good hands,” he said, then turned to ask, “Isn’t that right, Suihe?”
Fu Suihe, who had been silently observing the scene, was finally brought into it. Her lips pressed together slightly as she lowered her gaze and stayed quiet.
Seeing her avoid eye contact, Fu Leiwu swallowed his frustration and muttered, “Well, this is a matter between the younger generation. We should let them decide.”
“Good,” Ji Yanwan replied. “Since it’s up to me, then let’s keep it simple. The Fu family doesn’t need to worry about the wedding plans. Just wait for the notice.”
“As for the food, if you don’t like it, then please see yourself out. The door is on your right.”
Without looking at Fu Leiwu’s reaction, she picked up the public chopsticks and placed a piece of cold beef salad into Fu Suihe’s bowl. Then she added more food to her own and continued eating.
Fu Suihe looked down at the cilantro-covered beef and frowned. She poked at it with her chopsticks, clearly displeased.
Fu Yunkai was the first to lose patience. He stood and stormed out.
The others quickly followed, leaving only the three Ji sisters and Fu Suihe in the private dining room.
After the meal, Ji Mingtao pushed Ji Hesong’s wheelchair and headed out. As she passed Ji Yanwan, she proudly patted her on the head and said, “You really are my sister. That was impressive. I’m reinstating your monthly spending card. Take her shopping and get what you want.”
By “her,” she meant Fu Suihe.
Fu Suihe smiled sweetly. “Thank you, Second Sister.”
Ji Yanwan’s eyes lit up. Since arriving here, she hadn’t had a cent to her name. Everything—clothes, food, even transportation had been covered by the family.
Now that her allowance was back, she couldn’t be happier. She practically skipped to open the door and send her two sisters off.
In the blink of an eye, only the two of them were left in the room.
Letting go and doing whatever she wanted felt unexpectedly good for Ji Yanwan. The shift from resistance to open-minded curiosity had significantly boosted her motivation.
Since she couldn’t win against the system, she might as well join in. Ji Yanwan had never really understood romance, but she was fully stocked with theoretical knowledge.
After all, she had read through thousands of novels. Surely at least one or two of those ideas would come in handy.
Besides, the system’s tasks had to be completed no matter how much she tried to escape them. She couldn’t go home anytime soon. So why not enjoy herself in this fictional world?
In this world, Ji Yanwan had nothing but money and a powerful background. Everything else was empty.
Now that she had regained financial freedom and was open to trying new things, her mood had improved. She turned to look at the girl sitting quietly beside her.
Fu Suihe had tied her long hair into a neat ponytail. Her delicate features had only a touch of light makeup. With the help of soft colors and the youthful hairstyle, she looked like a teenager—like a pampered little princess raised in luxury.
Sweet and elegant.
Too bad the sweetness was just an act.
Ji Yanwan curled her lips and asked, “Are you full?”
Fu Suihe nodded obediently.
“Then let’s go.” Ji Yanwan stood at the door, one hand in her pocket, leaning casually against the frame.
Fu Suihe walked toward her and asked softly, “Where are we going?”
“To get you changed.” Ji Yanwan raised an eyebrow. The way Fu Suihe acted so well-behaved stirred a little mischief in her. She smirked. “Something more grown up. I don’t want people thinking I’m dating a minor.”
Fu Suihe looked down at her dress and asked in a soft voice, “Doesn’t this look nice?”
“It looks nice,” Ji Yanwan replied. “But I don’t like it.” She clicked her tongue and squinted at her again. “Since we’re getting married, you should dress to my taste.”
Fu Suihe stayed obedient, her expression unchanging despite Ji Yanwan’s teasing tone. She asked quietly, “Then what kind of look do you like?”
Her face was just too sweet. Those sparkling fox-like eyes reflected Ji Yanwan’s image, making her look like a well-behaved child waiting for a gold star from the teacher.
Ji Yanwan took two steps forward and untied her ponytail. The jet-black hair fell over Fu Suihe’s shoulders like a waterfall. Ji Yanwan stared for a moment, still not satisfied. She reached up and twirled a strand of her hair around her finger.
Looking at Fu Suihe’s innocent expression, Ji Yanwan leaned in and said with a lazy grin, “I like something a little more mature.”
“More like a wife.”
