The Black Lotus Omega Always Wraps His Tail Around Me - Chapter 20
Ji Hesong clearly did not want to say more about what happened ten years ago.
Ji Yanwan didn’t press her. Instead, she said softly, “You’ll get better. I’ll find you the best doctor.”
Hearing her firm tone, Ji Hesong’s eyes softened. A faint smile appeared, and there was a hint of relief in her gaze. She gently responded with an “alright.”
As she looked at her sister’s maturing features, Ji Hesong felt a quiet sense of emotion. This troublesome little sister of hers had truly grown up. She was no longer the reckless girl she used to be.
The car stopped at the hotel entrance. The doorman, who had been waiting, pulled a wheelchair from the trunk. Ji Yanwan bent down and lifted her sister from the car.
Ji Hesong was light, easy to carry with barely any effort.
When Ji Yanwan settled her into the chair, a strange feeling stirred in her chest.
The legs she had just touched didn’t feel limp or lifeless. In fact, the muscles had tensed slightly when she lifted her.
So why hadn’t she stood up in ten years?
There was no time to think further. A car arrived behind them, followed by the sharp sound of familiar heels clicking on the ground.
Ji Mingtao took the wheelchair from Ji Yanwan’s hands, and the three sisters walked forward side by side.
The banquet hall was large—so large that the seven guests seated inside looked sparse and distant from one another.
As soon as someone appeared at the entrance, a man who had been sitting on the sofa jumped up and greeted them enthusiastically. “Hesong, it’s been so long!”
Ji Yanwan glanced at the man who reached out his hand. He was well-maintained, but the years had left their mark. The neatly trimmed hair at his temples was streaked with gray.
Ji Hesong did not take his hand. Instead, she offered a calm smile and said, “Mr. Fu, you must be very busy. We just saw each other at the bidding meeting two days ago.”
Her tone was gentle, and there was no sharpness in her words, but Fu Leiwu’s expression turned stiff immediately.
That bidding meeting had been the project he had prepared for over several months, putting in time, effort, and money to win over partners and impress investors.
It should have been a guaranteed success, but a small company he had never heard of came out of nowhere and locked him in a price war. He had been forced to raise his bid again and again. When he finally could not go any higher, the deal was taken by Ji Hesong.
After months of effort, someone else walked away with the win. Just thinking about it made Fu Leiwu want to cough up blood.
Still, he forced a dry smile and tried to save face. “It’s fine. Our families are about to be in-laws. If the Ji family gets the project, it’s as good as the Fu family getting it.”
“That’s a convenient way to think,” Ji Yanwan said coldly, glancing at him. “Nothing has even been agreed upon yet, and you’re already trying to count the Ji family’s gains as your own.”
Fu Leiwu’s face darkened even further.
Anyone else saying that would not have bothered him, but this came from one of the central figures of today’s meeting—Ji Yanwan herself.
He looked at her more carefully. This young woman was tall and composed, her face beautiful but unreadable. He could not get a read on her emotions.
How was she so different from the notorious and idle third daughter of the Ji family?
Even Ji Mingtao, who had remained quiet until now, looked at her again, a hint of pride in her eyes.
As tension lingered at the door, a young Alpha stepped forward from behind Fu Leiwu. He adjusted his suit with practiced grace and introduced himself.
“You must be Suihe’s fiancée. I’m her older brother. My name is Fu Yunkai.”
Ji Yanwan looked at the man in front of her. He was like a scaled-down version of Fu Leiwu. The ambition in his eyes was impossible to hide.
She studied him coldly, then asked with clear skepticism, “That’s odd. Suihe told me her entire family had passed away. Which brother are you supposed to be?”
Fu Yunkai’s face immediately darkened, unable to hide his reaction.
Seeing the father and son freeze, Ji Mingtao chuckled and said lightly, “Ah Wan is still young and has been pampered all her life. I hope Mr. Fu won’t take it personally.”
Fu Leiwu forced out a stiff laugh, patting his son on the back. “Of course not. Yanwan is straightforward and adorable. I couldn’t possibly be upset with her.”
Fu Yunkai’s face eased slightly but still looked uneasy.
Ji Yanwan nodded with a faint hum. “Then let’s go in. It’s tiring standing around like this.”
The father and son quickly stepped aside to clear the way. Fu Yunkai pursed his lips, clearly annoyed, but under his father’s persistent glances, he held back his temper.
Inside the room, three women were already seated. When they saw the Ji sisters enter, they quickly stood up.
Ji Yanwan scanned the room but saw no familiar faces and felt no interest in making conversation.
Apparently, Ji Mingtao felt the same way. She said nothing and simply wheeled Ji Hesong toward the head of the table.
As Ji Hesong took her seat, Fu Leiwu moved to sit beside her, clearly hoping to strike up a conversation again.
But Ji Yanwan interrupted before he could speak. She glanced toward the closed door and frowned slightly. “Where is Fu Suihe?”
Fu Leiwu was caught off guard by the question, then quickly smiled and said, “Suihe went to get some wine for me. She should be back soon. Yueming, go check.”
The girl named Yueming snorted, her expression full of disdain. “Why should I be the one to go?”
Fu Leiwu was already suppressing his anger. He had been holding back in front of the Ji sisters, but facing his own daughter, he didn’t have that restraint. He was just about to scold her when the door opened.
The person who arrived late leaned lightly against the doorframe and spoke softly, “I’m sorry I’m late.”
Fu Suihe was wearing a pale pink dress that day. The cut and design were modern and elegant, with no distracting patterns. She wore no jewelry. Her long hair was left down, flowing softly over her chest. Every small movement and smile made her look calm and graceful.
Ji Yanwan raised her eyebrows. She had to admit, Fu Suihe was born to be the center of attention. She looked beautiful in everything she wore.
They were sitting far apart, but the moment their eyes met, neither of them could look away.
Fu Suihe politely greeted the Ji family. Her gaze swept across the room before finally returning to Ji Yanwan.
She gently tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear and smiled sweetly. “Ah Wan.”
As she moved her hair, Ji Yanwan noticed that Fu Suihe was wearing an accessory after all.
Pinned to the left side of her chest was a small, delicate brooch shaped like a tiny galaxy. Under the banquet hall lights, it sparkled faintly.
Ji Mingtao’s expression darkened. That brooch had been a gift she gave Ji Yanwan for her eighteenth birthday.
She recognized it immediately. The brooch had been custom-made, modeled after a little planet charm she had once given Ji Yanwan. There was only one like it in the world.
And now, that one-of-a-kind star sat right over Fu Suihe’s heart.
Ji Yanwan recognized it too. It was the same brooch that Fu Suihe had removed from her collar the last time they were on set.
Seeing that familiar item triggered a memory. Ji Yanwan remembered Fu Suihe’s soft fingers gently reaching into her collar, brushing over her collarbone and down her chest.
She looked away first and quietly answered, “Mm.”
Fu Suihe walked toward her slowly and stopped beside her. She looked down at the empty chair next to Ji Yanwan and asked, “Is this seat for me?”
She didn’t sit down right away. She waited for permission.
Ji Yanwan glanced at her but said nothing.
Fu Suihe didn’t rush. She stood there patiently.
Seeing the two of them frozen in place, Fu Leiwu frowned and snapped, “Did you forget the rules of the Fu family? Go sit next to your mother.”
By “mother,” he was referring to Fu Suihe’s aunt, a gentle and fearful omega who was sitting quietly beside Fu Leiwu. She kept her head down and followed his orders without speaking.
His voice was loud and harsh. It made not only his wife flinch but also Fu Suihe.
She instinctively crossed her arms in front of her chest and stepped back a little. Her face turned pale as she quickly responded, “I’m sorry, Uncle.”
Fu Leiwu had been ready to scold her further, but her sudden submission made him pause. He wasn’t sure if she was truly afraid or just trying to avoid conflict.
Fu Suihe had just taken one step to leave when her wrist was suddenly caught.
The grip was not strong, but it landed right where her wrist had been bruised the night before. The pain made her hand twitch slightly.
Ji Yanwan said calmly, “Sit here. You’re not going to be part of the Fu family for much longer anyway.”
