Chapter 21: Eliminating Evil for the People
First, they passed through a dim hallway, a passage so narrow that only two people could walk abreast. Mold spots crawled across the walls like spiderwebs, adding a layer of eerie horror to the atmosphere.
Xie Mo hung limp over A-San’s shoulder like a marionette, his weak strength making any struggle seem futile. A sickening sensation came from his lower back—a rough palm was wandering along the line of his waist. Every touch made Xie Mo’s stomach churn, his body trembling uncontrollably.
He tried to make a sound, wanting to ask why they were doing this to him. But all that came from his throat were broken, faint whimpers.
“These eyes are so watery from crying… aside from being unable to speak, he’s practically a masterpiece. He’d definitely be even more alluring in bunny ears.”
“Like it’ll be your turn?” A-San suddenly tightened his arm. Xie Mo let out a silent “ugh” as the air was squeezed out of him, feeling a wave of desperate grievance. He had done nothing wrong, yet he had been inexplicably kidnapped by this pack of sinister Alphas.
“If anyone’s playing, I’m playing first,” A-San chuckled wickedly, weighing the burden on his shoulder.
Amidst the rising laughter of the others, Xie Mo bit his lower lip hard. His lips had turned white, and the copper taste of blood spread in his mouth.
Suddenly, a fragment of memory flashed through Xie Mo’s mind. While these men were ransacking his home, they had mentioned Tang Yingrui’s name several times. But he had been so terrified then that he had buried the name along with his fear.
Tang Yingrui had once said he would give Xie Mo to other Alphas. Was it because he hadn’t been home for a few days that they had lost patience and come looking for him directly?
To say he wasn’t hurt would be a lie. Over two years of a distorted, dependent relationship, Xie Mo had long since grown accustomed to their life together. He should have prepared himself for this day the moment Tang Yingrui first brought it up. But now that it was truly happening, his heart throbbed with a piercing ache. He could only blame himself for hoping Tang Yingrui had been joking.
He lowered his head, letting salty tears drip onto A-San’s leather jacket.
…
As they crossed the corridor, the scene before him made his pupils shrink. This was a mad, twisted world. He had never seen a scene so absurd and terrifying.
Though Tang Yingrui frequented such places, he never told Xie Mo his destination. This allowed the sheltered little Omega to believe he was merely going out to drink and relax—at most, to a lively bar.
Gamblers who had won money were like frenzied beasts, their eyes bloodshot as they pulled the girls beside them into crude kisses. At the soft, coy urgings of the bunny girls, they couldn’t wait to throw themselves into the next round.
Looking across the vast space, countless gambling tables were arranged in neat rows—at least a hundred of them. Countless slot machines lined the gaps. Xie Mo didn’t know that this was one of the largest underground casinos in City A.
Every table was swarmed with people; not a single seat was empty. People’s gazes were fixed on the gambling tools, their expressions ranging from exhilaration to intense anxiety to madness. The table at the very back was surrounded so tightly that not even water could trickle through. From the crowd, shouts of excitement and sighs erupted periodically, the heat of the atmosphere loud enough to pierce his eardrums.
Xie Mo was carried roughly through the noisy waves of sound until they stopped before a small door. A-San looked at an Alpha behind him and tilted his chin toward a distant gambling table. His voice dripped with cold malice:
“If we still can’t contact Tang Yingrui within two hours, take this Omega and—just like that one over there—turn him into a stake and sell him for a good price.”
Xie Mo forced his tear-blurred eyes open and looked in the direction A-San indicated. Above the gambling table surrounded by the crowd sat a petite Omega. The Omega was dressed in a bunny suit, the snowy-white fur making him look even more fragile and helpless. Facing the gamblers who were madly bidding for him, the Omega’s eyes were vacant and terrified. His hands tightly clutched the hem of the skirt—which was barely long enough to cover his thighs—pulling it down in a desperate attempt to keep himself covered.
Before he could catch more than a few glimpses, Xie Mo was shoved into the room by A-San.
The room’s decor was simple yet bizarre. A dozen garment racks were filled with various clothes, all of which were skimpy and revealing. In the corner, a large bed occupied a significant amount of space, big enough to hold three or four people.
A-San threw Xie Mo violently onto the bed and pressed down with a grin. “Let me enjoy myself first…”
Xie Mo was already dizzy from the suffocating mix of Alpha pheromones. The only thing to be thankful for was that Ji Hanyue had marked him beforehand, preventing him from going into heat in public. An Omega’s naturally disadvantaged physique stood no chance against an Alpha. No matter how he struggled, it was negligible.
Xie Mo tried his best to push the Alpha away, his tears flowing uncontrollably in a silent cry. No… please no…
But his futile struggle was treated merely as seasoning for the act. His jacket was ripped off. A-San was filled with an uncontrollable excitement at what was to come.
Unexpectedly, the phone tossed on the edge of the bed began to vibrate. It was a dedicated communication device for the casino; even though he was annoyed, A-San had to stop. He rubbed his face in frustration and reached for the phone, propping himself up on one knee.
Xie Mo took the opportunity to curl up and retreat, his bear-print T-shirt rumpled into a ball, tear tracks winding down his pale face.
A-San looked at the screen and saw it was He-ge calling. Xie He was the boss in charge of this sector of the casino. A-San pulled his clothes together and gave Xie Mo a warning look. He stepped away from the bed and answered. He didn’t bother going outside because he knew Xie Mo couldn’t speak; even if he heard something, he couldn’t tell anyone.
“Hello, He-ge. What’s up?”
When A-San picked up, Xie Mo heard a deep, mellow voice from the receiver. It was hard to imagine the owner of such a voice was a casino chieftain.
“Tang Yingrui sent the money. The interest has been doubled. No need to chase the debt anymore,” Xie He’s voice carried a chilling calmness.
A-San knew that Tang Yingrui paying back the debt was inevitable. Even if he hadn’t paid these past few days, he would have eventually. But every time they collected from him, it was like pulling teeth from a tiger’s mouth; the kid changed his mind faster than flipping a page.
Many times when Tang Yingrui lost money and the Kou family brought cash to redeem him, Tang Yingrui would directly order the Kou family’s subordinates to suppress the debt collectors. A-San and his crew of thugs had taken many solid punches from Tang Yingrui.
On the surface, Tang Yingrui claimed he was “eliminating evil for the people,” but everyone knew he was just retaliating for the days when he had no backing and was beaten for being unable to pay. These grudges had festered. They couldn’t do anything to the young master of the Kou family who allowed it, so they pinned all the blame on Tang Yingrui.
Now that they finally had an opportunity, they weren’t going to let it go so easily.
