- Chapter 65.1 - No More Biting; Milk Only Comes After the Birth
The Grey Wolf Demon followed behind the woman in white as they exited the inn. When the woman headed east, the wolf demon concealed her form and casually donned a bamboo hat.
As she walked, she was suddenly surrounded by street vendors in the Demon Market, all greeting her: “Greetings, Lord Grey Wolf! Are you gracing our small shop with your presence today?”
Helpless, the Grey Wolf Demon removed the hat and changed her appearance to a strange, new face before continuing to tail the woman.
Earlier, Huang Liu had mentioned that the woman’s profile resembled Yu Xuanji. The Grey Wolf Demon couldn’t help but feel suspicious; the woman’s silhouette truly looked like the Madam’s. However, she wondered how the Madam could possibly come to the Demon Market alone without the Great King.
Furthermore, the Grey Wolf Demon sensed no trace of Cang Lan’s aura in the market. If this were truly the Madam, she should be permeated with the Great King’s scent from the inside out. Therefore, she concluded, this woman could not be the Madam.
Inside the bedroom, clothes were scattered haphazardly across the floor—two sets of undergarments, one black and one white, lay tangled together.
Yu Xuanji lay on her side, her fair, smooth back—supple as warm mutton-fat jade—pressed against Cang Lan’s chest. Her crimson lips, looking as though they were stained with rouge, were slightly parted. A sliver of crystalline saliva escaped the corner of her mouth, dampening the snow-white sheets and pillow.
Cang Lan embraced her from behind, her lips and nose pressed against the crook of Yu Xuanji’s slender, snow-white neck. She then opened her mouth and gently nipped the neck, revealing sharp fangs capable of crushing a beast’s skull with a single bite.
Yu Xuanji slowly opened her eyes, her eyelids feeling sticky. She arched her neck, proactively offering it to Cang Lan to let her slowly grind her teeth. She knew Cang Lan was being incredibly careful and would never truly hurt her.
Ever since Cang Lan learned of Yu Xuanji’s pregnancy, she hadn’t dared to be rough; even her embraces were light, fearing she might accidentally press against the belly.
Just now, Cang Lan didn’t dare to lie on top of her, so she had her lie on her side—a position they rarely used before.
Yu Xuanji used to love facing her directly, stroking the sweat from Cang Lan’s forehead and slowly kissing her chin and lips, occasionally whispering suggestive words to stimulate her.
Now, Cang Lan finally understood what Yu Xuanji meant earlier. She had said that a pregnant woman’s desires are stronger than usual, and today, Cang Lan had finally witnessed it.
Perhaps due to the dragon egg in her womb, Yu Xuanji’s stamina was better than before. Previously, she couldn’t even lift a finger after one or two rounds; today, she had initiated several more times than usual and was far more proactive.
Cang Lan panted heavily, holding Yu Xuanji tight, greedily inhaling the sweet, warm fragrance of her body. A faint scent of milk lingered around her nose, refusing to dissipate.
Yu Xuanji pressed a hand lightly to her chest and said in a raspy voice, “It hurts. No more biting.”
Cang Lan swallowed hard and asked in confusion, “Didn’t you say I could have milk after the baby came? Why didn’t I get any just now?”
Yu Xuanji smiled, explaining weakly, “The milk only comes after the child is born.”
“Oh.” Cang Lan tightened her hold on Yu Xuanji’s waist, smiling. “I’m not in a hurry. Not at all.”
Yu Xuanji used the last of her strength to pinch the back of Cang Lan’s hand resting on her waist. “You say you’re not in a hurry, but you nearly ate me just now. Don’t you know your teeth are sharp? Even a slight scrape hurts.”
Cang Lan countered playfully, “You’re the one being duplicitous, my lady. You clearly said it was itchy just now and told me to use more force. You even said it felt ‘painful yet pleasurable’ and wished for even more pain.”
Yu Xuanji closed her eyes, her head lolling as if drained of strength. “Forget it, I won’t argue with you. It feels a bit swollen; you put too much inside.”
Cang Lan giggled against Yu Xuanji’s ear, a mischievous glint in her eyes. Despite her cunning smile, her voice sounded apologetic: “It’s all my fault for making you uncomfortable. If you don’t like it, I won’t put it in next time—”
Yu Xuanji gripped her wrist and sighed helplessly. “No. Keep doing it next time.”
Cang Lan’s eyes sparkled. “As you command!”
Outside the cave, Huang Liu impatiently dove into the Dragon Pool. He saw Cang Lan and Yu Xuanji sitting on the dragon throne in the main hall, looking intimate and affectionate—a scene of ambiguous harmony.
Huang Liu froze the moment he saw Yu Xuanji. The profile of the woman in white from earlier was so strikingly similar to Yu Xuanji’s that he began to tremble with shock, wondering if they were the same person.
At that moment, Cang Lan was feeding Yu Xuanji a piece of cold sponge cake. Seeing the flustered, ghost-stricken Huang Liu, she scolded with a frown, “Such impetuousness! What if you frighten the Madam?”
Huang Liu composed himself. Looking at Yu Xuanji eating the sweets, he said in amazement, “Great King, I went to the Demon Market to buy wine just now, but I saw a woman who looked exactly like the Madam. She wore plain white clothes and a bamboo hat. I cast a spell to blow a gust of sand and wind to lift her veil, and I discovered her profile was identical to the Madam’s. That’s why I rushed back to report.”
Cang Lan and Yu Xuanji exchanged a look. Cang Lan said, “My lady hasn’t left the house. Could you have seen incorrectly?”
Huang Liu shook his head firmly. “How could I be mistaken? I saw it clearly; that profile was exactly like the Madam’s.”
Yu Xuanji turned to Cang Lan, then smiled and picked up a piece of sponge cake to hand to Huang Liu. Seeing him take it with both hands and sniff it, she smiled and said, “It’s probably just a resemblance. The world is vast; it’s not impossible for someone to look like me, or even like A-Lan.”
Cang Lan followed Yu Xuanji’s lead. “Indeed, the Madam is right. There’s no need to report such trifles. Why do you smell so much like wine? Have you been drinking behind my back?”
Yu Xuanji smiled and asked casually, “Where did you buy such good wine? It smells quite sweet and fragrant.”
Huang Liu grinned. “Madam, it’s from the largest inn in the Ghost Market. There’s plenty of good wine there.”
Cang Lan stroked Yu Xuanji’s fingers and said softly, “My lady, Yun Zhi said you cannot drink while pregnant. You are not allowed.”
Yu Xuanji smiled. “I was just asking. I haven’t had any in a long time and I’m quite craving it.”
Cang Lan shook her head. “You are not allowed to drink right now.”
Yu Xuanji curled her lips. “Fine, fine. I’ll listen to you.”
The Demon Market was bustling with crowds. The Grey Wolf Demon had lost her target in the throng, so she returned to the Dragon Pool with her tail drooping. She happened to run into Huang Liu, who was holding the pale-yellow sponge cake.
The wolf demon immediately became annoyed and snatched the cake from Huang Liu. “I was out tracking someone while you came back to eat and drink well. This is unfair!”
Huang Liu said, “The Madam saved some for you too. This is called ‘little cake.’ The Great King made it herself; it tastes wonderful.”
The wolf demon, who had just stuffed the cake into her mouth, froze. She asked blankly, “Who did you say made this?”
Seeing her look as if she had eaten poison, Huang Liu replied, “The Great King made it with her own hands—”
Before he could finish, the wolf demon pounded her chest and stuffed the remaining cake back into Huang Liu’s mouth. “I’m not eating it! You have it!”
Huang Liu chewed the cake, looking at her with disdain. “Is it really that scary? The Madam gave this to me. I heard she learned the recipe from An Zhi. It’s sweet and delicious. If you don’t want it, I’ll eat your share too.”
The wolf demon waved her off. “No, no. Take it all.”
Huang Liu claimed the rest of the cakes for himself.
The afternoon was bright and beautiful, with the vast birch forest rustling in the wind. The Barren Lands were originally incapable of growing trees, but since Cang Lan arrived, the spiritual energy had been restored. Wherever she walked, the land was touched by a dragon’s aura and nourished by rain, causing flora to flourish. Now, the Barren Lands could be called an oasis.
Yu Xuanji sat under a tree drinking fruit tea. It was prepared by An Zhi with apples and red dates, cooled to lukewarm, and topped with honey. It was sweet, sour, and intensely fragrant.
Yu Xuanji loved it. She kept a pot for herself, while Ting Lan placed ice cubes in a basin to chill the jade teapot.
Cang Lan was in the field hoeing and planting vegetables. Under the sun, fine beads of sweat formed on her forehead. Her skin was so white it seemed to glow, like polished mutton-fat jade.
Yu Xuanji watched Cang Lan’s vigorous movements. Beneath a thin white inner garment, the muscle lines of her arms were tight and beautiful as she swung the hoe. Even the way she casually wiped her sweat made Yu Xuanji’s throat tighten.
Soon, Yu Xuanji stood up with the kettle, poured a glass of chilled fruit tea, and walked toward the vegetable garden.
Cang Lan worked quickly and efficiently, soon finishing a corner of the plot. Huang Liu was squatting nearby sowing chili seeds, sneezing as he worked. He accidentally rubbed his eyes with his hands and began yelping in pain from the spice.
“Hahaha—”
Cang Lan laughed until she was breathless watching Huang Liu scramble to find water to wash his eyes.
Yu Xuanji stood behind her and said softly, “A-Lan, you must be thirsty. I’ve made some chilled fruit tea for you to beat the heat.”
Cang Lan turned around, instinctively wanting to pull Yu Xuanji into her arms, but she was covered in dirt and holding a hoe. Her hands were black with mud. She said regretfully, “My lady, I’m too dirty to hold you.”
Yu Xuanji pulled out a cloth to wipe the sweat from Cang Lan’s face. “No rush. You can hold me tonight. I’ll feed you.”
Cang Lan half-squatted. Yu Xuanji held the crystal cup with both hands, slowly tilting it so the golden fruit tea flowed into Cang Lan’s mouth and down her throat.
Yu Xuanji stared at Cang Lan’s abdomen. As Cang Lan arched her back for the drink, her firm, flexible midsection was visible through the thin fabric. Yu Xuanji could almost see the definition of her abdominal muscles.
Yu Xuanji became dazed. After finishing the tea, Cang Lan licked her lips. Seeing where Yu Xuanji’s gaze was fixed, she knew exactly what she was thinking.
Cang Lan leaned in close, smelling the faint fragrance of the woman, and whispered, “Didn’t you say we shouldn’t indulge during the day? Your eyes are practically stripping me. Do you like it that much?”
After a moment, Cang Lan took Yu Xuanji’s wrist and pressed her palm against her abdomen. Through the thin clothes, Yu Xuanji felt the solid muscles she had imagined. She smiled and said, “It feels good, but I feel like something is not quite right. I’ll have to give you a thorough physical examination tonight.”
The two became intimate in the garden, their gazes so full of desire they practically left trails in the air.
The Grey Wolf Demon, carrying two buckets of water to the cabbage patch next door, turned and saw them flirting. She covered her eyes, transformed into her wolf form, and hid in the field, pretending she was never there.
After Yu Xuanji left, An Zhi beckoned to Ting Lan. Recalling the scene, she couldn’t help but say, “I feel like there’s no difference between the Master being pregnant and not.”
Ting Lan nodded. “I noticed too. Is it because the embryo is too small? So there’s no physical change yet?”
An Zhi shook her head. “I don’t know. I’ve never had a child. And you know I hate studying medicine. Back in the eighties when we followed the Master to study abroad, I didn’t learn a thing. You’re the top student; what do you think is going on?”
Ting Lan was also confused. “I know how humans conceive and give birth, but that assumes the other partner is human. Cang Lan isn’t human. We can’t apply human logic to her.”
An Zhi thought for a moment and then had an epiphany. “I get it! It’s like those web novels I read—Monster, Mpreg, Lactation—”
Before she could finish, Yu Xuanji returned with an empty cup. She looked at the mischievously smiling An Zhi and asked expressionlessly, “Lactation what?”
An Zhi shook her head violently. “N-nothing.”
Yu Xuanji sat on a stool that had been padded with a soft cushion hand-sewn by Cang Lan, featuring a charmingly crooked little dragon embroidery.
An Zhi tried to slink away quietly, but Yu Xuanji called out, “What were you just saying?”
“Nothing, nothing.” An Zhi crouched on the ground, not moving. “It was nothing, Master. You misheard. I was just talking nonsense.”
Yu Xuanji smirked. “Is that so? I thought I heard something else.” She took a sip of the fruit tea. “Stay crouching. You can stand up when you tell the truth.”
An Zhi suddenly dropped to her knees. Yu Xuanji waved her hand, lifting her up. “I didn’t say kneel. Crouch and speak. You can sit after you finish.”
Seeing An Zhi blush and remain silent, Yu Xuanji smiled. “Am I that scary? You two have been with me for so many years; have I ever lost my temper with you?”
An Zhi plopped onto the ground and whispered, “You haven’t lost your temper, but you’re always cold-faced. You don’t speak or smile; I thought you were like a doll.”
Yu Xuanji glanced at her. “Don’t change the subject. Continue.”
An Zhi looked up cautiously. Seeing that Yu Xuanji was looking at Cang Lan in the distance rather than at her, she stammered, “Master, it’s like this… I used to be addicted to web novels, and I read many… smutty books… and…”
An Zhi looked imploringly at Ting Lan, blinking desperately for help, but Yu Xuanji caught her. She quickly explained, “Master, I just have a bit of an eyelid spasm. I wasn’t looking at Ting Lan!”
