few pieces and stuffed them into her mouth, only to turn around and meet Yu Xuanji’s scrutinizing gaze.
With her mouth full of cookies, Cang Lan spoke, and crumbs sprayed all over Yu Xuanji’s face.
Yu Xuanji frowned. Cang Lan swallowed all the cookies in three or four gulps and leaned in toward Yu Xuanji’s face. “What’s wrong, wife? Let me lick the crumbs off for you.”
Yu Xuanji knew Cang Lan was doing it on purpose, aside from the initial guilt of being caught stealing snacks. She took out a handkerchief to wipe her face and then wiped the crumbs from the corner of Cang Lan’s lips, whispering, “It’s broad daylight. Wait until we get home for that. What’s the rush?”
That scene was caught by Ming Huang and Lu Xuan standing behind them. Ming Huang smiled and prepared to turn away, but Lu Xuan gripped her wrist tightly. “Master, I want that too.”
The smile on Ming Huang’s lips froze. “Want what?”
Lu Xuan pointed to her eyes, nose, and lips. “Master, kiss me here.”
Ming Huang frowned. “Wait until night. It’s daytime.”
Lu Xuan waved her large hand. In an instant, dark clouds blotted out the sun, covering the sky of the Wilderness. The entire region fell into immediate darkness.
Cang Lan took the opportunity of the darkness to pinch the back of Yu Xuanji’s neck with one hand, pressing her against her chest. She leaned in, raining kisses all over Yu Xuanji’s face before finally finding her lips.
Lu Xuan’s eyes glowed with a faint red light in the dark. She laughed. “Master, it is dark now. We can kiss.”
Ming Huang thought to herself that she was wicked, but at least she was polite enough to hide the sky before kissing. She pursed her lips and slowly leaned toward Lu Xuan.
An icy kiss, light as a dragonfly skimming water, touched and parted. Before Ming Huang could pull away, Lu Xuan grabbed the back of her neck with one hand, pressing the back of her head toward herself, and fiercely blocked Ming Huang’s lips.
Ming Huang obediently opened her lips, allowing Lu Xuan’s tongue to stir and move within her mouth. She was kissed and sucked until her scalp felt numb and her legs went weak, nearly causing her to collapse to the ground.
In the darkness, Cang Lan held Yu Xuanji. She wanted to pry open Yu Xuanji’s lips, but the other woman kept her mouth tightly shut, giving her no chance.
Yu Xuanji was well aware of the consequences of consuming dragon saliva. She reached one hand behind Cang Lan, slowly sliding her fingers into her hair, then gripped tightly and pulled Cang Lan away from her. She said softly, “You are not allowed to kiss anymore. This is someone else’s home.”
Cang Lan smacked her lips unsatisfied, licking them as she reminisced. “The sky is dark, wife. Let’s kiss a bit longer. No one will see.”
As soon as she finished speaking, the pitch-black sky turned bright again in the blink of an eye.
Cang Lan looked at Yu Xuanji’s swollen lips and leaned in to lick them, but Yu Xuanji covered her mouth and pushed her away, saying muffledly, “No more kissing!”
Lu Xuan stood behind them with her hands on her hips. Her lips were red and slightly swollen, with faint tooth marks visible. She said coldly, “Master says you are to stay for dinner as thanks for the cookies.”
Cang Lan loved a free meal, so she agreed immediately. She leaned close to Yu Xuanji, rubbing her chest against her shoulder. “Wife, we don’t have to cook tonight. Let’s eat at the Old Phoenix’s house.”
Ming Huang was not a good cook, but Lu Xuan’s culinary skills were excellent; she could transform any ingredient into a masterpiece.
Since they were hosting and keeping guests for dinner, Lu Xuan, as the host, naturally had to cook herself. However, this proved difficult for the Demon Lord, who hadn’t touched a kitchen in thousands of years.
Ming Huang smiled and patted Lu Xuan’s shoulder. “A-Xuan, do you know how?”
Everyone’s gaze fell upon her. Lu Xuan stiffened her neck and said confidently, “It is merely cooking. This seat can do it easily.”
Ming Huang nodded in relief and patted Lu Xuan’s shoulder with a smile. “Good.”
Yu Xuanji stood up, intending to go to the kitchen to help Lu Xuan, but Cang Lan pulled her hand and pulled her into her arms. “Don’t go, wife. We are guests and brought gifts. There is no reason to let guests cook in the kitchen.”
Ming Huang smiled. “Yes, let A-Xuan do it. Her cooking is very delicious.”
Lu Xuan frowned. The moment Ming Huang looked over, her hesitant expression vanished, replaced by a curled lip. “Good. Rest assured, Master.”
Watching Lu Xuan’s departing back, Yu Xuanji couldn’t help but worry. “Senior, can this Lu Xuan really cook?”
Ming Huang hesitated. “I do not know. Presumably, she should be able to.”
Yu Xuanji turned to Cang Lan. “A-Lan, go to the kitchen to help. If there’s something she doesn’t know, you teach her.”
Ming Huang was shocked. “What did you say? Let this little dragon go?”
Yu Xuanji smiled. “Yes. A-Lan’s cooking actually tastes quite good. Let her go help. Perhaps she can even give some pointers.”
Cang Lan followed Yu Xuanji’s lead. “Old Phoenix, don’t underestimate dragons. This King can cook anything. As for whether it’s good… ask my wife.”
Yu Xuanji gave a gentle smile. “Yes, the taste is quite good.”
If Ming Huang hadn’t actually tasted Cang Lan’s food before, she might have believed it.
Cang Lan turned and entered the kitchen. Yu Xuanji and Ming Huang went to the outdoor pavilion to drink tea and chat.
Yu Xuanji asked, “Senior, A-Xuan’s body carries two souls. How do you plan to handle it?”
Ming Huang took a sip of plum tea. “Originally, I wanted them to merge into one. But the two souls have been separated for a thousand years and have developed their own wills. If forced to merge, I fear it would incite another bloodbath.”
Yu Xuanji pondered. “It can’t stay like this forever. Perhaps finding another vessel to separate the two would be a good solution.”
Ming Huang frowned, thought for a moment, and said, “Still no. Both of them will surely want this body. Where would I find another one?”
After much thought, Ming Huang still couldn’t find a perfect solution. For now, she could only delay, keeping both souls in the same body.
Inside the kitchen, Cang Lan stood to the side, watching the fumbling, Lu Xuan. She couldn’t help but criticize, “How can you be so clumsy? These are cabbage leaves you can eat. Why are you peeling them all off? If the Old Phoenix sees this, she’ll say you’re wasting food again.”
Lu Xuan gritted her teeth, veins popping on her forehead. “Shut your mouth!”
Cang Lan held a carrot, rinsed it in water, and took a bite. “Just now you were so confident in front of everyone, saying you could do anything. Does your face feel sore from being slapped by reality?”
Lu Xuan held a head of cabbage that had been stripped of its outer leaves, wishing she could stuff it into Cang Lan’s mouth.
At that moment, the other Lu Xuan inside her body suddenly spoke: “Cut the cabbage root first, then take the leaves off one by one to wash.”
Lu Xuan said expressionlessly, “Does this seat need an idiot like you to teach me?”
Hearing this, Cang Lan was so angry she threw the carrot at Lu Xuan, shouting, “You dare call me an idiot?”
Lu Xuan glanced sideways at the furious black dragon and said mercilessly, “You are also an idiot.”
A series of clattering and banging sounds erupted from the kitchen. Yu Xuanji stood up, wondering, “Could they have started fighting?”
Ming Huang also stood up. Before they even reached the kitchen, a sharp kitchen knife flew out, passing right between Yu Xuanji and Ming Huang, cutting off a few strands of Yu Xuanji’s hair.
Yu Xuanji walked in and saw Cang Lan holding a spatula and a pot lid in each hand, while Lu Xuan held a kitchen knife, seemingly preparing to give everyone a “flying knife performance.”
The moment Cang Lan saw Yu Xuanji, she tossed the spatula and lid aside, feigned a weak, swaying posture, and leaned against Yu Xuanji. She said affectedly, “Ah~ Wife, my hand hurts so much, she bullied me~~~”
Ming Huang felt goosebumps and her legs uncontrollably shifted to the side, only for Lu Xuan to throw herself into her arms, nearly knocking her into the firewood pile.
Lu Xuan said, refusing to be outdone, “Master, that evil dragon bullied your disciple just now.”
Ming Huang stroked Lu Xuan’s hair and asked, “Who threw that knife? It almost hit someone.”
Cang Lan quickly complained, “She threw it! That knife was just used to cut peppers! She’s not even human!”
Lu Xuan poked half her head out from Ming Huang’s arms. “I wasn’t human to begin with!”
Cang Lan angrily picked up a water ladle and threw it at Lu Xuan’s head. “You certainly have self-awareness, you smelly cat!”
Lu Xuan looked around, picked up the fallen ladle, and threw it back at Cang Lan. After throwing it, she hid back in Ming Huang’s arms. “Shut up, you stupid loach!”
Seeing a fierce battle about to break out, Ming Huang pursed her lips and ushered Lu Xuan out, comforting her, “Alright, alright. Peace is precious; harmony brings wealth.”
Cang Lan stuck out her tongue and spat at Lu Xuan. Yu Xuanji finally couldn’t take it and manually “muted” her by covering Cang Lan’s mouth. She said with a smile, “Alright, alright. They’ve already walked away. Didn’t you hear Senior say peace is precious?”
Seeing Yu Xuanji picking up the fallen kitchen utensils, Cang Lan followed her and picked up the water ladle. “Wife, don’t worry about this. Let me do it.”
In front of Yu Xuanji, Cang Lan was very diligent, wishing she didn’t even have to step on the ground or walk, let alone pick things up.
Seeing Yu Xuanji looking over Ming Huang’s kitchen, Cang Lan couldn’t help but lean in and complain, “Wife, I noticed a problem while I was supervising.”
Yu Xuanji asked, “What problem? Could it be she wants to poison the food?”
Cang Lan shook her head. “She wouldn’t dare! I’m talking about something else. She was cooking, but she kept talking to herself, calling herself an idiot, even slapping her own face. In the end, her two hands started fighting each other. Do you think there’s something wrong with her head?”
Yu Xuanji thought of the two split souls and couldn’t help but curl her lips, thinking that Senior Ming Huang was in for a rough time.
Under Cang Lan’s prompting, Yu Xuanji could only agree. “Yes, yes. There is indeed a bit of a problem with A-Xuan.”
Cang Lan proudly rubbed her dragon horns against Yu Xuanji’s chin, giggling. “Compared to this King, she really is a fool. She doesn’t even know how to pick vegetables; she just knows how to lose her temper. She even tried to hack me with a knife. If wife hadn’t come to stop it, maybe I really would have been skinned and turned into a belt.”
As she spoke, Cang Lan leaned against Yu Xuanji’s shoulder, acting like a delicate, swaying willow.
Yu Xuanji knew she was faking, but she still said, “With me here, she won’t dare bully you.”
Cang Lan added, “I am still the most well-behaved and sensible. I can cook and I know how to cherish my wife. You could search heaven and earth with a lantern and never find a second dragon as good as me. Isn’t that right, wife?”
Yu Xuanji couldn’t help but smile, agreeing, “Yes. You are the most well-behaved, cute, and obedient dragon in this world. There is no doubt about it.”
