Chu Jingtian spoke with gravity as he looked at Su Huaihuai. Seeing her now did not stir any great turmoil in his heart; looking at her aggrieved expression, he was not even sure how to express his own emotions. He could not tell if what he felt was the satisfaction of revenge or something else entirely.

His emotions remained relatively flat. Seeing Su Huaihuai in this state, he could not help but let out a sigh. “I told you long ago that if you stayed with him, there would be no good end for you. I never expected you to choose him so firmly anyway.”

Chu Jingtian voiced these concerns while looking at the person before him with a sense of helplessness. He had kindly warned her about these issues at the very beginning, but Su Huaihuai had been deaf to his words. Back then, she even thought he was trying to drive a wedge between them. Now that she was truly facing the consequences, she had begun to blame him instead.

Looking at her now, his gaze was icy. He did not want to face any of this, but he had no choice. His expression remained stern as he stood before her.

Su Huaihuai looked up at Chu Jingtian’s high-and-mighty stance with disbelief. To her, his current superiority was almost laughable, and she did not know how to handle the rush of emotions. It was a massive blow to her pride.

“Why is it that even though you were abandoned by him, you can live such a good life? Why am I the only one living so miserably after being tossed aside?” Su Huaihuai still did not understand. She could not grasp why she was facing this ruin while Chu Jingtian seemed untouched by the circumstances she now endured.

Hearing this, Chu Jingtian gave a helpless smile, at a loss for how to explain the reality of the situation to her. Seeing her so stubborn and unrepentant, he felt a flicker of pity but did not know how to speak.

“What do you want me to say to you? I tried to dissuade you from the start. Don’t you realize that everything happening now is the path you chose for yourself?” He continued, “Now that all this has happened, how is it suddenly my cross to bear?”

He found it all quite ridiculous. He truly did not know what people like her were thinking or why they came up with such messy logic. Facing this made him feel a deep sense of irritation that he could not even begin to vent. Even though his mood was foul, he just felt incredibly tired of it all.

“Anyway, I’ve said my piece. Don’t try to argue with me,” Su Huaihuai stammered. “You must have a supportive family; that’s why you didn’t end up like me. If I had a family like yours, how could I have become this pathetic?”

Chu Jingtian grew angry listening to her stubborn delusions. He had initially thought Su Huaihuai was someone who, like him, had been deceived in love. He never imagined that she would become so deeply entrenched in her ways. When they first met, he had clearly warned her that the man had someone else elsewhere.

But Su Huaihuai had not listened then, and seeing her remain so obsessed even now, he found it hard to feel any true sympathy.

“First of all, I told you from the beginning. Isn’t this outcome the result of your own choices? You should bear the consequences of your own decisions,” he said. “The reason I haven’t ended up like this is that I have my own career. Why should I spend forever grieving over these things?”

Chu Jingtian asked this with genuine confusion. He was living his own life; why should he let someone else’s actions dictate his emotional state? He had adopted this mindset the moment he separated from that man.

Standing nearby, Su Jingyang watched Chu Jingtian in silence. He was somewhat surprised to hear his brother speak such profound truths, but as he listened, his eyes filled with tenderness. Hearing his brother speak this way made him feel a sense of relief. He had always wondered if his brother had truly moved on from that past relationship; hearing these words, he finally understood his brother’s true state of mind.

In contrast, looking at Su Huaihuai collapsed on the ground, the scene felt almost farcical. She had chosen this path herself, yet she ended up blaming them.

Seeing that Chu Jingtian wanted to keep talking, Su Jingyang stepped forward and pulled him back. He then looked down at Su Huaihuai. “The life you are facing is the one you chose. Now that you’ve turned out like this, do you intend to ruin everyone else’s life too?”

Su Huaihuai looked up, shocked by Su Jingyang’s bluntness.

Su Jingyang’s gaze was cold. “We have shown you more than enough kindness. No matter what happens to you now, do not blame us. As for the road ahead, that’s entirely up to you.”

After saying their piece, the two turned and left.

Su Huaihuai remained huddled on the ground, staring at their retreating backs in disbelief. She clenched her fists tightly. Their departure felt like a cruel joke, and she did not know how to cope. Everything had been fine at the start; how did it turn into this? Tears began to roll down her face as the weight of her reality set in. It was too painful; everything had changed so abruptly.

After walking a short distance away, Su Jingyang and Chu Jingtian stopped. Su Jingyang looked at his brother with concern.

“You know,” Chu Jingtian began, “at first, I was lost in those feelings too. I didn’t know how to untangle myself or how to escape. Back in my youth, I thought that relationship was my destiny.” He felt a bit foolish admitting it now. Looking back at the consequences, he felt his past actions were his own undoing.

Su Jingyang quickly moved to Chu Jingtian’s side and pulled him into a firm embrace. “Don’t think like that. This isn’t your fault. It was that person’s mistake.” He spoke with a mix of seriousness and intensity.

Chu Jingtian was moved. He felt truly grateful for Su Jingyang’s words. He had never expected his younger brother to be capable of such gentleness. Hearing such comforting words was a joy he did not quite know how to handle. He could only keep these emotions tightly controlled within his heart.

“I’m truly thankful that I’ve been able to accept all this now.” At first, it had been difficult, but Su Jingyang had slowly walked into his heart and led him out of the darkness.

Su Jingyang smiled. Seeing Chu Jingtian’s bright smile was the only thing that mattered to him. “Brother, as long as you are happy, that’s the life I want.”

Indeed, if Chu Jingtian was happy, Su Jingyang was satisfied. He wanted a life where his brother was free from these suffocating worries.

Chu Jingtian reached out and hugged Su Jingyang back, touched by his brother’s deep concern. He could not help it; tears finally escaped his eyes and rolled down his cheeks. The world of adults was far too complex. Facing so much was an exhausting ordeal. Even though he had tried his best to persevere, the suppressed emotions still weighed heavily on him. He had done everything he could, yet in the face of it all, he still felt a sense of ridiculousness at how difficult it was to resolve.
