The Aloof Film Queen Gets Entangled by a Sweet Little Omega - Chapter 24
The 18+ Prohibition
Shi Rui returned to the dorm, shouting as soon as she stepped through the door, “What kind of books are ‘Adult Rabbit’ books?”
The moment she spoke, Ming Qing—who was in the middle of drinking porridge—started coughing violently. He Qianqian, sitting beside her, hurriedly pulled out some tissues and wiped her mouth like a devoted little wife, murmuring softly, “Wife, why did you choke?”
Rong An, watching from nearby with her bowl in hand, asked in shock, “Since when did you two become this close?”
“Cough, cough.” Ming Qing’s ears were red from coughing, but He Qianqian said with total innocence, “She told me to call her ‘wife,’ so I did. I can call you ‘wife’ too.”
Rong An nodded happily and said, “Then be my wife too; I’ll share my snacks with you.”
“Okay!”
He Qianqian didn’t hesitate for a second. She was about to get up and take her bowl over to sit next to Rong An when Ming Qing pinned her down with one hand.
“You stay right here. You aren’t going anywhere. You are my wife.”
Hearing this, Rong An clicked her tongue and said, “Qing, you’re being a bit possessive, aren’t you?”
Ming Qing turned to look at her, baring her teeth in a deliberate grin. “Then you be my wife too. I’ll spoil you.”
Rong An got goosebumps and let out a “Yuck” before replying, “You’re a bit too greasy; I don’t want you. I like well-behaved ones like Qianqian.”
He Qianqian looked at Ming Qing with a smile and countered, “No, she’s not. Qingqing isn’t greasy at all.”
While the three of them were chatting animatedly, Shi Rui had already collapsed onto the table, wailing weakly, “Can someone please tell me what ‘Adult Rabbit’ books are?”
Rong An and He Qianqian still didn’t quite understand what she was talking about, but Ming Qing gave a mysterious smile and asked back, “Didn’t you look it up online?”
At that, Shi Rui looked up instantly and replied miserably, “I did.”
“And what did you find?” Ming Qing asked, slowly sipping her porridge.
“The search results said ’18+ rated’ (R-rated).”
“And then?” Ming Qing continued.
Shi Rui crossed her fingers over her head to mimic rabbit ears and said, “And then, as soon as I clicked on it, this popped up.”
Having finished her breakfast, Ming Qing wiped her mouth, stood up, and walked over to grab the two “rabbit ears,” forcing Shi Rui to look up.
“Come on, back to the room. I’ll teach you.”
“Really?”
Shi Rui regained her energy in an instant, her eyes sparkling. Ming Qing nodded mysteriously and pulled her into the room.
He Qianqian instinctively tried to follow, but Ming Qing rubbed her head. “You stay here and be good. Finish your breakfast.”
“What is it? Why so mysterious?” He Qianqian asked.
Ming Qing pinched her cheek dotingly but didn’t answer.
The pale little rabbit followed Ming Qing into the room in a daze. The “black-bellied” little sheep gave a mysterious smile and closed the door labeled “18+.”
He Qianqian stared blankly. For some reason, the closing of that door felt like it had hollowed out a hole in her heart—it felt a bit sour. She turned back and poked at her food dejectedly.
Half an hour later, the bedroom door finally opened.
He Qianqian rushed forward, only to see Shi Rui emerging with a face as red as a beet.
Rong An, sensing something was off, stepped forward. “Qingqing, what did you two do?”
“Just a little science education,” Ming Qing said with a wicked grin, draping an arm over Shi Rui’s shoulder. “Hey, what did your ‘Sister’ tell you earlier?”
“She said…” Shi Rui’s face was incredibly flushed. She lowered her head and covered her eyes, replying shyly, “…she told me to watch less of it.”
Upon hearing this, Ming Qing immediately egged her on: “She’s so cold-natured, of course she told you to watch less. But who can be as indifferent as her? I suggest you just go for it.”
By now, Shi Rui’s face wasn’t quite as red, but she still whispered, “I won’t.”
Despite her words, her body was honest; she immediately turned around to call Luo Xiao. She had to ask Sister why she said that.
Seeing her like that, Ming Qing pointed with her thumb and said to He Qianqian, “See? Look how proactive she is.”
“I’m very proactive too,” He Qianqian replied, blinking her eyes—her reaction time faster than usual for once. “I proactively called you ‘wife.’ On the contrary, it’s you who doesn’t say it often.”
Ming Qing’s heart skipped a beat at her words. Rendered speechless, she could only slowly withdraw her hand, turn around, and secretly clench her fist while stomping her feet in frustration: That stupid sea otter! Does she think everyone is as simple-minded as her?!
On the other side, Shi Rui, who had been speaking softly, suddenly raised her voice: “What! You went back? Why didn’t you tell me!”
“Where is your house? I can’t find it.”
“I don’t care! I’m never talking to you again!”
It seemed Shi Rui and Luo Xiao had gotten into an argument, as she hung up the phone huffily.
Seeing this, Ming Qing and the others asked cautiously, “What happened?”
“She left. She went back.”
“So suddenly?” Rong An was skeptical. “Why did she leave in such a hurry?”
“Maybe the little rabbit giving her ‘dragon balls’ scared her off,” Ming Qing teased.
Shi Rui refused to believe it and retorted, “She wouldn’t be.”
“Oh? Then why did she run?” Ming Qing’s words cut deep. Shi Rui clutched her chest as if wounded, staring with wide, disbelieving eyes as she tried her best to defend her: “No, she said she went back for work.”
“Nooo~ she went back for wooork~” Ming Qing mimicked her mockingly before saying, “Silly rabbit, why didn’t she leave earlier or later? Why did she leave today specifically?”
Hearing this, Shi Rui started to panic. It made sense. She asked, “Then what should I do? Should I go catch her?”
“How? You don’t even know where her house is,” Ming Qing pointed out the harsh reality.
Shi Rui was momentarily stumped but then said hesitantly, “Then… then I’ll go to her company and corner her. I know where her company is.”
“How do you know that?”
At this, Shi Rui pulled out her phone. “I looked it up online.”
Ming Qing felt a headache coming on, but not wanting to crush the girl’s confidence, she said, “Fine. Go ahead and corner her then.”
“Yes!” Shi Rui made up her mind. “I’m flying over there this weekend to corner her.”
“Do you still have money?” Ming Qing, being the most aware of Shi Rui’s financial situation, asked concernedly, “If not, I have some here.”
“It’s okay, Qingqing. She gave me money.”
After Shi Rui said this, Ming Qing closed her eyes helplessly, saying with regret, “It’s my fault for asking a redundant question.”
She then immediately followed up with serious instructions: “Little Rabbit, I have a suggestion for you. If you want to know if she’s really frigid—or if she really was scared away by those ‘dragon balls’ you sent—don’t contact her for a while. When you go to find her, don’t say a word. It’s best if you appear before her suddenly. As the saying goes, ‘a brief absence whets the appetite.’ Besides, she likes you; if she’s normal, she absolutely won’t be able to resist getting close to you.”
Ming Qing paused for a moment, then added very sternly, “But you must remember to protect yourself.”
After the half-hour crash course on “Adult Rabbit” books from Teacher Ming, Shi Rui quickly understood what she meant and replied with a flushed face, “I know.”
On Friday afternoon after class, Shi Rui headed to the airport with nothing but a small backpack.
Upon landing, she took a taxi straight to Luo Xiao’s company, only to end up squatting in the bushes for ages without seeing a sign of her. Although it was late autumn, there were still many mosquitoes near the flowerbeds. Shi Rui’s arms were covered in itchy, painful red bites.
She pulled out her phone to call Luo Xiao, but hesitated as soon as she swiped to the call screen. Remembering Qingqing’s words, she decided to stick to the surprise plan—and to check if the older woman truly lacked certain “desires.”
But as time ticked by and the company entrance remained unchanged, Shi Rui decided she couldn’t wait like a fool forever. She got up to ask the staff at the entrance if Luo Xiao had been in today.
However, for some reason, the moment she mentioned Luo Xiao’s name, the staff chased her out and told her to get lost. The giant rabbit, still wearing her backpack, was tossed out and rolled twice on the ground. She climbed up, patted the dirt off her fur, glanced back at the magnificent golden gates, huffed, and walked away.
She checked into a hotel using the card her “Sister” had given her. The first thing she did upon entering the room was rush into the bathroom. While showering, she started a video call with her roommates, propping the phone up on the vanity.
“They wouldn’t let you in and even pushed you so you rolled into a little grey rabbit?” Ming Qing repeated with a laugh, teasing her, “You really are too pathetic.”
Shi Rui huffed, her voice echoing in the bathroom. “I was just caught off guard! Otherwise, there’s no way she could have pushed me!”
“How about this,” Ming Qing suggested after a thought, “go stake out her car.”
“But how will I know which car is hers?”
“Dummy, call Qi Ran and ask.”
The little rabbit let out an “Aow!” of realization. “I was too careless! I completely forgot about her.”
Rong An had been watching the whole time, but the camera was pointed at the showerhead fixed on the wall. She could see the running water but not Shi Rui—not even a strand of hair. Considering Shi Rui’s height as a giant rabbit, it was strange.
Uneasy, Rong An asked, “Xiao Rui, where are you? We only see water, not you. Aren’t you showering?”
“I turned into a rabbit.”
Inside the bathroom, a soaking wet giant rabbit was meticulously applying fur conditioner, ensuring every single strand absorbed it. Then, she plopped her bottom down on a ledge and lifted a paw to scrub her paw pads; a refined rabbit needs a nightly massage to prevent calluses.
Ming Qing joked, “Why change into a rabbit to wash? Now we can’t see anything!”
He Qianqian, who was busy with her own skincare nearby, suddenly lunged toward the screen upon hearing that. She burrowed into Ming Qing’s arms, trying to grab the tablet while muttering, “Who’s showering? Let me see, let me see!”
Ming Qing quickly covered her eyes and spun her around, pinning her against her shoulder. “No one is showering, don’t look!”
On the other end of the video, Shi Rui had finished. She hopped up to turn off the water, used a pet-specific fur dryer to dry herself, draped a small square towel over her head, and hopped onto the vanity.
“I’m done!” Holding the phone with both paws, Shi Rui hopped down and headed happily toward the big bed.
Ming Qing and He Qianqian were whispering and giggling off-screen. Rong An took the tablet and looked at the large rabbit head on the screen. “Why do you turn into a rabbit to shower?”
“It saves water!”
Shi Rui looked around, found a spot to prop up the phone, and rustled her way under the covers. After chatting with Rong An for a bit longer, she hung up to sleep.
Outside the massive floor-to-ceiling window, a flash of teal light streaked by. A moment later, a teal dragon could be seen clinging firmly to the glass, looking longingly at the person inside, its four claws suctioned tight like the tentacles of an octopus.
