The Aloof Beta Transmigrated as the Pretty Wife [Transmigration] - Chapter 6
For years, the social roles Su Ren played were first a teacher, and second, an elder brother.
Consequently, when he treated Xie Chouqiu’s “Divorce Agreement” like a student’s test paper, marking it up with corrections, he didn’t feel there was anything wrong with his approach at all.
Seeing that Xie Chouqiu remained silent for a long while, Su Ren’s expression remained indifferent as he brought the temporary conversation to a close. “If you have any objections, I am free tomorrow from 12:00 to 14:00. You can come find me during that window to talk, or you can have your lawyer come instead.”
Xie Chouqiu was stunned.
Ever since Su Ren started speaking, Xie Chouqiu felt a swelling pressure in his head. A noisy, high-pitched girl’s voice kept clamoring in his mind, inciting him to rush forward and discipline his disobedient wife. However, Xie Chouqiu treated her words like hot air. He remained intensely focused, staring at Su Ren with a gaze that was dark, brooding, and full of longing, yet he did nothing.
It wasn’t until Su Ren glanced at the two doors on the south side of the living room and began walking toward the master bedroom that the silence broke.
At that moment, Zheng Keli spoke up urgently, “Hey! Big brother! Where are you going? The front door is this way!”
Su Ren looked back at him and Xie Chouqiu, his eyes looking tired and slightly listless. “I’m going to sleep. You two can stay in the guest room.”
Su Ren was exceptionally beautiful, and because of that, his parents had pampered him like a delicate Omega. This upbringing had resulted in a few particular habits, such as his insistence on having the largest bed available to sleep in.
With red-rimmed eyes, Zheng Keli summoned his courage and stood his ground, seemingly wanting to argue further. However, his mind was slow, and since this wasn’t part of his scripted plot, he couldn’t think of a single rebuttal once it came down to a verbal spar.
Before Zheng Keli could even open his mouth, Su Ren had already entered the master bedroom and closed the door.
Xie Chouqiu’s gaze was hazy, appearing not quite lucid. Having completed the required plot points for the scene, he felt exceptionally irritable. He turned to Zheng Keli with a touch of impatience.
“Don’t disturb him. Either go home, or sleep on the sofa.”
“…Brother Xie?”
“He has a bit of a temper. I suggest you go back.”
The next day.
Su Ren woke up early. After teaching a full morning of classes, he sat in his office through the entire lunch break.
He had tried to think of a way to get Xie Chouqiu to take the initiative to kiss him, but every time he started to contemplate the topic, he felt an overwhelming sense of discomfort. Su Ren gave up on the idea repeatedly.
Instead, he spent the noon hour with a cold expression, preparing lessons in his office. Yet, neither Xie Chouqiu nor his lawyer showed up to discuss the “Divorce Agreement.”
With only a bit of his break remaining, the restless Su Ren finally found something to do.
He took out a brand-new notebook, essentially a grudge book, and began recording everything Xie Chouqiu had done to him since arriving in this second world. He attempted to deduce what exactly Xie Chouqiu’s mission was.
Just as Su Ren drew a final period at the end of his last sentence, the office door was suddenly pushed open.
Su Ren glanced at his watch.
13:59.
The lunch break was nearly over.
Then, he looked at the person.
It was Xie Chouqiu.
With an extremely cold demeanor, Su Ren tucked his notebook into a drawer and locked it. He picked up his prepared textbooks and turned to leave, not giving Xie Chouqiu so much as a second glance.
However, a towering mountain of a man stood firmly in the doorway, blocking his path with a smirk.
“I’m still standing right here, where do you think you’re going?”
It was the kind of vibe one gets from someone who has watched too many overbearing CEO dramas. The tone sounded harsh and the content was cheesy, but coming from Xie Chouqiu, it felt both out of place and a little bit foolish.
Su Ren replied, “If you want to talk about the divorce, I don’t have time today. Let’s do it another day.”
Xie Chouqiu leaned down slightly, his face pressing close to Su Ren’s earlobe. “Hmph. I came here of my own accord to find you, just what are you acting so proud for?”
Su Ren was at a loss for words.
Could someone please tell him why Xie Chouqiu’s subconscious was such an idiot?
Su Ren couldn’t bear it any longer. He turned his head, studied Xie Chouqiu’s clouded eyes for a moment, and then reached out to lightly pat Xie Chouqiu’s cheek twice.
“198-xxxx-1250,” Su Ren recited a string of numbers.
“What?” Xie Chouqiu asked, frowning.
“A phone number. Central Hospital, Department of Psychiatry, Attending Physician Ni Youbing. He’s a friend of mine.”
Xie Chouqiu was temperamental and his gaze was hazy, but as his brow furrowed, he simply repeated, “What are you trying to do?”
Su Ren pushed the tall but dim-witted Xie Chouqiu out of his office. He turned to lock the door and said casually, “You can go have a chat with him.”
Xie Chouqiu froze for two seconds before he finally realized what was implied. He exploded in anger!
He pinned Su Ren against the door. His consciousness was blurry, and his eyes held a hint of dazed obsession.
“We’re the ones getting a divorce, why should I talk to your friend? Are you seeing someone behind my back?”
Su Ren: ?
