- That Stupid, Pretentious Young Master Deserves To Be Punished
- Chapter 19 - The Leather Shoe Lifts the Chin
“I see,” Shen Jia Yu said, raising his wine glass toward the air. “Then I should learn from my juniors. The younger generation is truly formidable, are they not, President Si?”
The person named, Si Xuan, remained expressionless, his pitch-black pupils flickering with unrecognizable emotions. He had thought this was just a simple social gathering, never expecting to be targeted like this.
Si Xuan stood up and raised his red wine glass. “Second Young Master is joking. I am the one who should be learning from you.” After saying this, he tilted his head back and drained the red wine in one gulp.
Seeing him finish, Wang Yue’s mouth curled upward as he also raised his wine glass. “President Si is truly straightforward! We were alumni, after all, and now that we are sitting at the same table, I must toast you as well.”
Si Xuan’s expression did not change; he merely glanced slightly at Shen Jia Yu. “Young Master Zhang, you are too kind.” He downed another glass.
Then, the other members of Tianji took turns toasting Si Xuan. Only then did everyone at the scene realize that these two were clearly at odds.
The atmosphere turned tense, with no one daring to intervene. They could only sit in their seats, casting glances between the parties.
The two celebrities standing next to Shen Jia Yu were also incredibly awkward, standing there at a loss, only able to watch the gunpowder laden air. Shen Jia Yu noticed they were still standing there and said, “You two, go back.” They returned to their seats as if they had just been granted an acquittal.
After one round, Si Xuan’s face grew paler and paler. Ye Hao, who had accompanied him, had a complicated expression; he wanted to advise him to stop but dared not. Who would dare go against the Second Young Master Shen? Thus, he could only bow his head and hold his breath. Seeing that everyone had toasted him once, Ye Hao felt a slight sense of relief.
But then, the Second Young Master spoke again.
“President Si is young and promising; to have built Qinghe to this size at such a young age is impressive. I propose that everyone present toast him once more.”
These words were like a heavy bomb, leaving the entire table looking distressed. Some of them even had ongoing collaborations with Qinghe; this was a deliberate attempt to make things difficult. They sat there in agony, casting pleading eyes toward Han Linfeng.
Han Linfeng was also under immense pressure. He thought to himself, You two have a dispute; what does dragging the others into it achieve? He had long heard that the Second Young Master was accustomed to doing whatever he pleased and acting recklessly, but today he had finally witnessed it firsthand.
He had no choice but to keep his signature gentle smile on his face to smooth things over. “Second Young Master, look, President Si’s face is already pale. Perhaps Tianji and Qinghe will have opportunities to collaborate in the future; we are all in the same circle, so let us talk things over when there is an issue.”
Shen Jia Yu leaned back, crossed his legs, and clamped a cigarette in his mouth. Wang Yue conscientiously lit it for him. He took a drag, exhaled a smoke ring, and tossed the cigarette pack onto the table.
Squinting, he said: “One toast, one person leaves.”
Now, even Han Linfeng felt this was going too far. This table was, at the very least, filled with executives of status; who could endure this kind of coercion?
Furthermore, he was the CEO of a publicly listed company worth tens of billions, managing several top tier celebrities. Normally, even high ranking government officials would give him a modicum of face. He was usually treated like a god of wealth wherever he went, and now he was suffering the intimidation of a junior!
In an instant, everyone’s face turned dark, yet no one dared to openly storm out. This was the Shen family, a powerful conglomerate that stood alone in City A!
Wang Yue sensed the explosive tension and his heart sank slightly. Having followed his parents to various banquets since he was a child, he could be described as incredibly adroit and skilled at navigating social circles.
He knew the Second Young Master had gone too far this time, so he smiled smoothly: “The time is almost up; let us consider this final glass before leaving as a toast to the Second Young Master. This request is not too much, is it?”
Since a way out had been provided, how could these old foxes who had spent years in the business world not understand? Everyone knew that a strong dragon could not suppress a local snake, and more importantly, this person was a true dragon.
The older executives went first, followed by the younger ones who, though seething with suppressed anger, flushed red at a mere casual glance from Shen Jia Yu and stood up: “President Si, Second Young Master, this toast is for you. I shall take my leave now.”
Si Xuan’s chiseled, handsome face was as pale as paper, a thin layer of cold sweat coating his forehead. If one looked closely, one could see his pinky finger trembling slightly and the veins on the back of his hand bulging; clearly, he was suppressing immense agony.
Every time someone offered a toast, he drank it. He knew that if he did not, Shen Jia Yu would continue to make things difficult for the others.
Ye Hao, noticing the abnormality in his complexion, pulled on his hem under the table, his tone anxious as he whispered: “Si Xuan, stop drinking! Go apologize to the Second Young Master! You will end up in the hospital if you keep drinking!”
“Why should I apologize?”
This calm, unwavering sentence made his attitude clear. Si Xuan was the type of person who would rather live standing than die kneeling. In the area of refusing to compromise, he was surprisingly similar to Shen Jia Yu.
By the time the entire table had left, only Jia Yu’s group and Si Xuan remained.
Shen Jia Yu naturally noticed the large beads of sweat on the pauper’s forehead and his terrifyingly white face. He poured himself a glass. “What is the matter? Everyone at the table has toasted me; will you not toast me?”
Fire like pain seared through Si Xuan’s stomach and throat. His entire stomach was spasming, as if someone were gouging it with iron spikes and then searing it on a grill.
Just as he raised his glass to his lips, he heard the Second Young Master’s voice, cold and crisp as jade hitting a plate.
“Come here and toast me to my face.”
Ye Hao looked at the group across from him, arms crossed with mocking expressions, and knew they were cooking up something big. He could not help but interject: “Second Young Master, you can see Si Xuan has already drunk what he needed to. He will literally die if he drinks more! Whatever he did before, I apologize to you on his behalf.”
Shen Jia Yu cast a detached glance over, his expression remaining cold. “And who are you?”
“I am…” He only managed two words before being interrupted by the Second Young Master.
“My business with him is not for anyone else to interfere with.”
Si Xuan’s heart sank as well. He did not know how he had offended Shen Jia Yu; this was a nonsensical provocation. “Do not worry about it, I will handle it myself.” He walked up to Shen Jia Yu with his drink. “Second Young Master, a toast.” He tilted his head back and downed it.
Snap!
The crisp sound of glass shattering was particularly loud in the heavy atmosphere of the private room.
“The cigarette fell. Can you pick it up for me?”
On the floor, amidst the shattered glass and red wine stains, a black cigarette box lay quietly.
The two made eye contact.
Si Xuan stood, gripping the empty red wine glass so hard his knuckles turned white, his eyes dark and murky.
Shen Jia Yu sat, a faint smile on his lips, his chin tilted up in cold indifference. He hated being looked down upon, but looking at those bloodshot eyes, Shen Jia Yu decided he could begrudgingly accept it.
Taking a deep breath, Si Xuan maintained his calm. “Is the Second Young Master not going a bit too far?”
Shen Jia Yu did not reply. He tilted his long, fair neck, slightly exposing the edge of his collarbone, and said in an unquestionable tone, word for word: “Pick it up.”
Even when looking up, the Second Young Master remained arrogant and high and mighty, and just as stunningly beautiful. From this angle, Si Xuan could see him clearly; his eyes darkened, and he slowly leaned down.
Just as his hand touched the cigarette box, his chin was lifted.
The Second Young Master was sitting with his legs crossed, his black leather shoe gleaming with a silky luster, the toe of the shoe hooking Si Xuan’s chin to lift his face. Shen Jia Yu leaned down, his eyes filled with coldness, but his mouth curled into a smile as he leaned close to Si Xuan.
“As I thought, a stray dog should look at people like this.”
Si Xuan had never seen Shen Jia Yu’s face from such a close distance. He had long heard of Shen Jia Yu’s reputation in school; even though he rarely appeared in public, his name was on everyone’s lips, discussed with great relish.
Shen Jia Yu’s name was a legend. And the core of that topic was the Second Young Master’s world class beauty.
It was truly lethal!
Such a captivating, otherworldly shock made Si Xuan’s breath catch.
Noticing the man’s undisguised, intense gaze below, dark as an unfathomable abyss, Shen Jia Yu frowned with disgust. “Truly worth gouging out…”
In the next moment, Si Xuan felt a sharp pain in his palm.
Shen Jia Yu had stomped his foot onto the hand Si Xuan was using to hold the cigarette. Si Xuan let out a muffled groan, his muscles instantly tensing. Intense pain surged from his palm; shards of glass pierced deep into his hand, blood blooming and mixing with the red wine stains. The veins on his forehead bulged.
“Shen Jia Yu, let go! This is intentional injury! I will hold you accountable!”
Ye Hao naturally saw the black leather shoe trampling Si Xuan’s hand and rushed to pull Si Xuan away, but Wang Yue’s group blocked him, not giving him a single chance.
Si Xuan remained silent, trembling from the pain, and lifted his head to stare straight at Shen Jia Yu. Shen Jia Yu, you just wait! Wait until I pay you back with my own hands!
A glass of red wine was poured over his head, drenching him from top to bottom.
The Second Young Master seemed to have had his fill of fun. He dropped the glass, which shattered with a crisp sound, kicked Si Xuan in the chest, and sent him sprawling, before saying coldly: “Get out, and do not appear before my eyes again.”
Si Xuan said nothing. His right hand was a mangled mess, still dripping blood onto the floor; he just stared darkly at Shen Jia Yu. Ye Hao, having been released, hurriedly supported Si Xuan as they left.
Wang Yue stepped forward to light a cigarette for Shen Jia Yu. It tasted wrong, but Jia Yu did not care; he exhaled a smoke ring with satisfaction.
“Is the Second Young Master feeling better now?”
Jia Yu did not answer; he simply leaned back against the chair and exhaled two words: “Let us go.”
Truth be told, he had vented his anger, but for some reason, he did not feel as satisfied as he thought he would. Furthermore, the scent of Si Xuan’s blood mixed with the woody fragrance made him feel uneasy. His heart was beating exceptionally fast, a strange, bizarre feeling of being refreshed, as if he had just finished a spa treatment.
As soon as they left the room, Ye Hao called a taxi to take Si Xuan to the First People’s Hospital. Si Xuan was in bad shape, visibly trembling, his face as white as a sheet of paper, as if he were about to faint at any moment.
“Driver, please go to the First People’s Hospital, quickly! My friend has a stomach hemorrhage, he needs emergency treatment!”
The driver did not waste a word and slammed on the accelerator.
“Si Xuan, are you okay? How did you manage to provoke Shen Jia Yu?” Ye Hao looked at Si Xuan with concern.
