Take Away My Sickly Beauty [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 11
Inside the City First Hospital, Cheng Ye was nursing a simmering rage against the backdrop of her empty hospital room.
She never expected that even after feigning illness, her “dear” older cousin wouldn’t bother to spare her a single glance!
Cheng Ye’s face remained icy as her chest heaved with rapid, agitated breaths. After a few sharp inhalations, she finally snapped, sweeping everything off her bedside table. Objects shattered across the floor in a chaotic mess.
When Chen Jiyu’s parents passed away, Cheng Ye was the one who proactively joined the company to help her through those dire straits! It was she who provided support when Chen Jiyu was at her lowest point!
But now, look at how this wonderful cousin of hers was treating her!
Not only was she hell-bent on tearing Cheng Ye and Lingling apart, but she hadn’t even shown up when Cheng Ye needed a family member’s signature for surgery!
Back then, when Cheng Ye told her to stay out of her business with Lingling, Chen Jiyu used the name of Cheng Ye’s own parents to pressure her. Now that she was in the hospital and actually needed someone to look after her, why wasn’t Chen Jiyu mentioning those parents and her duty to care for her cousin?
For the first time, Cheng Ye realized that the cousin she once idolized was actually a cold-blooded, heartless, and ungrateful person.
No wonder Lingling always said her cousin was narrow-minded; it turned out the words she had refused to believe back then were all true.
Chen Jiyu was fundamentally a selfish person who only cared about herself and never spared a single thought for her cousin.
Since that was the case, why should she feel any lingering guilt over leaking the trade secrets? Cheng Ye now felt immensely relieved that she had stolen the data; otherwise, she might never have seen through Chen Jiyu’s hypocritical mask.
With this thought in mind, Cheng Ye decisively agreed to the suggestion Hua Lingling had once proposed.
She would establish a new company. With her and Lingling’s combined abilities, they would surely grow the business large enough to rival the Chen Group.
When that day came, she doubted Chen Jiyu would be able to avoid seeing her even if she wanted to!
Struggles of a Startup
A dying giant still has many legs. Although the Chen Group appeared to be on the verge of collapse, it was no easy feat for a startup to challenge it.
Furthermore, the current Cheng Ye had not yet reached full maturity or independence under Chen Jiyu’s tutelage. Consequently, the company she and Hua Lingling founded faced obstacles at every turn from the very beginning.
In the cutthroat business circle of H-City, where there were many monks but little gruel, no one wanted an extra competitor. Before the mid-to-large-scale corporations even had to lift a finger, the marginalization and competition from bottom-tier small businesses already had the duo in a state of exhaustion.
“What on earth is going on?” Hua Lingling asked her system more than once, certain there must be a mistake regarding the protagonist’s identity.
Could a version of Cheng Ye who couldn’t even handle a small company truly build a commercial empire in the future? Could she really contend with the Cupid commercial empire?
“System detection shows no errors,” the system replied for the twentieth time.
“Impossible!” Hua Lingling retorted instinctively.
If Cheng Ye was truly the protagonist, how could she fail so miserably at managing a company? To the point where Hua Lingling had to overdraw “golden finger” cheats from the system just to keep the business afloat?!
She had signed a literal military pledge with Headquarters. If she failed the mission, she would be abandoned—and at that point, even her soul would be erased!
Hua Lingling’s teeth chattered involuntarily. She reviewed the world data repeatedly, unable to fathom where things had gone wrong.
Deepening Misunderstandings
On the other side, a similarly disillusioned Cheng Ye looked at one failed project after another and couldn’t help but close her eyes in fatigue.
Why were projects that seemed so easy to execute back at the Chen Group so impossible to get right here?
And the Chen Group was supposed to be a crumbling building on the verge of being swallowed up, so why hadn’t there been any rumors of its downfall?
She even began to doubt if the data she stole was real. Could that treacherous Chen Jiyu have been playing her from the start? Was the initial appearance of the Chen Group’s decline just an act staged for her benefit?
But what would be the point of that?
Cheng Ye frowned, unable to figure it out. Suddenly, she remembered something Lingling had once cautioned her about: “Yezi, you are too broad-minded and kind, so just because you don’t overthink things doesn’t mean others won’t. Do you know how the owner feels about an outsider occupying the position of Vice President at the Chen Group? As the old saying goes, how can one allow another to snore beside their own bed?”
“Your image in the eyes of the Chen Group’s owner might be far worse than you think.”
So, Chen Jiyu’s interference with her and Lingling was actually a ploy to goad her into rebelling and stealing secrets, just so she could have an excuse to fire her and reclaim the Vice President position?
Cheng Ye’s eyes suddenly turned red. She gritted her teeth, shaking with fury.
So it was all orchestrated by Chen Jiyu. They had all been played by her!
Chen Jiyu was a despicable, shameless villain!
The angrier she got, the more Cheng Ye thought of her wife, Hua Lingling. Previously, she had been obsessed with making that wicked woman, Chen Jiyu, acknowledge Lingling. She wouldn’t be so stupid anymore.
She was going to give Lingling the grandest wedding possible. She would announce Lingling’s existence to everyone and proclaim the most sincere and beautiful relationship between them.
The Upcoming Confrontation
Upon suddenly receiving the news about holding a wedding, Hua Lingling was so terrified her voice trembled: “What did you say?”
Cheng Ye mistook her reaction for shyness and pleasant surprise, so she repeated herself: “Lingling, let’s have the wedding next Sunday. I will definitely give you the most beautiful ceremony.”
Hua Lingling was speechless. She had just been trying to find a way to dissolve her marital ties with Cheng Ye, but had run into obstacles and was forced to drop it. How could this “useless waste” come along and add to her mess right now?
However, since Hua Lingling wasn’t certain if Cheng Ye was the protagonist or not, she had to continue maintaining their relationship for the sake of the mission, constantly coaxing her.
“Yezi, I know you love me, but given our current situation, I’m afraid we can’t hold a wedding.”
“Why?” On the other end of the phone, Cheng Ye frowned, confused by Hua Lingling’s refusal.
“Yezi, think about it. With President Chen’s attitude toward me, can our wedding really go off without a hitch?” Hua Lingling spared no effort in smearing Chen Jiyu. “Don’t you find it strange that our company can’t develop smoothly? Is it really just those small companies pushing us out?”
Cheng Ye understood the implication immediately.
Rubbing her temples, Cheng Ye said in a heavy voice, “Lingling, you’re right. I was too impatient.”
It was no longer about getting Chen Jiyu to agree to their marriage; it was now about preventing Chen Jiyu from sabotaging it.
Cheng Ye had heard that Cupid was establishing a branch in H-City. If she could win Cupid’s favor, the Chen Group would no longer be a threat to them.
What she didn’t know, however, was that because of Hua Lingling’s selfishness, Lingling had never told her that the founder of Cupid was actually interested in Chen Jiyu.
As for everyone else, because Cheng Ye had betrayed the Chen Group and the Chen Group was now on good terms with Cupid no one was willing to leak any information to her.
Poor Cheng Ye was still completely in the dark.
Furthermore, because Hua Lingling had used a golden finger cheat from the system, they were scheduled to enter the Cupid building for a tour and study session next Monday.
Many prominent figures from H-City would be attending, and most importantly, Chen Jiyu would be there too.
Cheng Ye held a grudge in her heart. When the time came, she would publicly expose Chen Jiyu’s selfish and villainous nature, letting everyone see exactly what kind of filth and malice lay beneath her surface.
Especially the founder of Cupid she absolutely could not allow that person to be deceived by Chen Jiyu!
