- Chapter 70 - I Only Spoil You
Xu Zhizhi slept peacefully through the night.
Zhou Xuci had a sleepless night.
Early the next morning, Zhou Xuci got up to cook porridge for Xu Zhizhi.
When Xu Zhizhi said she was cold, she meant it.
Drinking some chilled beer had caused her period to arrive early.
Her stomach hurt.
It hurt so much she felt as though she were on the verge of death, her face pale, forehead sweating, as if countless arrows were piercing her abdomen.
It was unbearable.
After drinking half a bowl of porridge, Xu Zhizhi felt as though half her life had drained away. Lying in bed, she pulled the covers up to her nose, leaving only her eyes visible as she surveyed Zhou Xuci’s small bedroom.
When she opened her eyes that morning, the first person she saw was Zhou Xuci.
It felt incredibly surreal.
Zhou Xuci’s sleeping face was beautiful, truly perfect for a painting model.
The small bedroom had minimal decor, reflecting the minimalist style typical of an engineering student.
Zhou Xuci didn’t stay here often, but he had prepared quite a few personal items.
Some were for men.
Others were for women.
For example, half the wardrobe was filled with women’s clothing.
Then there were three pairs of women’s shoes on the shoe rack.
And even women’s daily necessities…
After drinking, Xu Zhizhi’s mind was a bit foggy. Her eyes wandered, taking in the small bedroom. Though the style was simple, it felt very cozy.
The bed was warm, and she had a heating pad pressed against her lower abdomen.
Zhou Xuci had made brown sugar and egg soup and brought it to the room for Xu Zhizhi.
Xu Zhizhi didn’t really like the taste of brown sugar and frowned. “I don’t want to drink it.”
In the past, she would never have been this willful.
But after falling in love, she had become increasingly pampered.
Zhou Xuci was just too good at taking care of her.
Xu Zhizhi had been thoroughly spoiled.
And she was getting worse.
Zhou Xuci set the brown sugar and egg soup on the bedside table, lifted Xu Zhizhi from the bed, and cradled her in his arms. Softly, he coaxed her, “Just drink a little, okay? Otherwise, you’ll feel even worse.”
Xu Zhizhi rested her head on his shoulder, habitually playing with the corner of his shirt. When she looked up at him, her eyes sparkled. “Zhou Xuci, you’re so good at coaxing people.”
Zhou Xuci lowered his head and kissed her cheek. “I only spoil you.”
My love for you is utterly, utterly, utterly, utterly, utterly, utterly, utterly, utterly special.
Xu Zhizhi lifted her head and kissed his chin fervently. “Then spoil me for a lifetime, okay?”
“Okay.” Zhou Xuci picked up the warm brown sugar and egg soup. “Drink a little to warm your stomach.”
Xu Zhizhi obediently took the soup and, though frowning, drank it all.
Feeling unwell, she seemed a bit listless.
“Zhou Xuci.” Having slept well, Xu Zhizhi was in good spirits and began picking a fight for no reason. “There are so many women’s items in your place.”
Zhou Xuci: “Mm.”
Xu Zhizhi narrowed her eyes into cute crescent shapes, pinched Zhou Xuci’s chin, and interrogated him, “Quick, tell me, are you hiding a beauty here?”
Zhou Xuci lowered his head, his affectionate gaze meeting her questioning eyes, and calmly replied, “You are my beauty. Xu Zhizhi melted under his affectionate gaze, her ears turning slightly red.
She was blushing.
“Zhizhi, I’ve never been in a relationship before. I’m always worried I’m not doing enough.”
“I looked up a lot of advice online, combined suggestions from all kinds of netizens, and picked out the useful, reliable ones to follow.”
“I prepared women’s items, thinking that if you ever came over, they would come in handy.”
“Look.” Zhou Xuci rested his chin on Xu Zhizhi’s shoulder, his lips brushing her earlobe. “All the women’s items I prepared are in your size.”
Xu Zhizhi felt a sweet warmth in her heart, and with Zhou Xuci’s warm breath by her ear, her ears grew even hotter.
An ambiguous atmosphere drew near.
Every time he approached, it made her heart flutter uncontrollably.
“This is my first time being someone’s boyfriend. I’m trying my best to do well.” Zhou Xuci sought praise, “Zhizhi, how am I doing?”
Xu Zhizhi cupped his face and passionately kissed the corner of his lips. “Zhou Xuci, you’re a hundred points.”
“No, even better than a hundred points.”
Zhou Xuci smiled gently, holding Xu Zhizhi in his arms and cradling her face.
He lowered his head and kissed her fervently.
He kissed her until her face flushed red and she was breathless.
Xu Zhizhi pushed Zhou Xuci away, hiding in his embrace, refusing to let him kiss her anymore.
Zhou Xuci patted Xu Zhizhi’s head. “If your stomach is uncomfortable, you should rest first.”
“I still have some work to finish. I’ll be in the living room. Call me if you need anything.”
As Zhou Xuci tried to leave, Xu Zhizhi grabbed the hem of his shirt.
“Bring your laptop over and stay with me.” Xu Zhizhi had become a bit more clingy. “Okay?”
“Typing on the laptop makes noise, and you’re a light sleeper,” Zhou Xuci said.
Xu Zhizhi widened her eyes. “I’m not sleepy right now.”
Unable to argue with her, Zhou Xuci stroked her hair. “Alright, I’ll bring my laptop and stay with you.”
Xu Zhizhi smiled, her little dimples deepening. “Mm.”
Zhou Xuci worked in the small bedroom, tapping away at the code. Xu Zhizhi lay on the bed, staring at him motionlessly.
Zhou Xuci, focused and serious, was just as handsome, endlessly charming, and devastatingly good-looking.
The afternoon sunlight streamed in through the window, warmly enveloping Zhou Xuci. He was bathed in light, but he shone even brighter than the light itself.
Zhou Xuci had also noticed that after Xu Zhizhi confessed the truth about her past and present life, she had become even more attached to him.
A little insecure, perhaps.
Maybe it was because in their previous life, it took them too long to meet. In this life, they were making up for all the time they had missed, bit by bit.
He worked until a little past five in the afternoon before finally closing his laptop.
Xu Zhizhi asked with concern, “How’s the progress with your startup?”
“The studio has taken on two projects. The clients’ requirements are a bit unusual, but we can handle them.”
Zhou Xuci looked at Xu Zhizhi, whose complexion had improved. “What do you want to eat tonight? I’ll cook for you.”
Xu Zhizhi asked, “You really know how to cook?”
Zhou Xuci nodded. “Yes.”
In his previous life, he went abroad for further studies for five whole years. Unable to stomach the foreign “pig slop,” he cooked almost every meal himself.
His culinary skills were excellent.
Xu Zhizhi cast a skeptical glance. “Zhou Xuci, theoretically, you should be a rich second-generation young master who’s never had to lift a finger, right?”
Like Shen Yu, who couldn’t even figure out how to make instant noodles.
“My dad psychologically manipulated me,” Zhou Xuci shrugged, joking. “He said men who can’t cook will stay single forever.”
Xu Zhizhi laughed. “Uncle seems so serious. He doesn’t seem like the type to say something like that.”
“He doesn’t seem like it, but he’s the one who said it.” Zhou Xuci raised an eyebrow, looking utterly disdainful. “Don’t be fooled by his appearance. He’s actually quite a dog.”
“For example?” Xu Zhizhi asked.
“For example, to have some alone time with my mom, he hired five tutors for me, making me study ten hours a day.” Zhou Xuci thought about it and felt his life had been miserable. “I was only eight years old back then. Five tutors!”
Really, only a dog would do something like that!
No human being could ever bring themselves to do it.
Xu Zhizhi couldn’t stop beaming with laughter.
Zhou Xuci walked over, gently patted her head, and asked softly, “Feeling better now?”
Xu Zhizhi nodded, “Mm.”
After all that talking, it was still to cheer her up.
…
