- Surprise! The Fake Heiress is Actually an Ancient Master of Metaphysics!
- Chapter 8 - Not Your Birth Mother
Three cars drove one after another and soon arrived at Zhao Deming’s home.
It was a remote suburban area in the southern part of the city, a district of standalone villas.
The cars entered through the gate and stopped in the courtyard.
As soon as she stepped out of the car, Tan Lingyin felt an overwhelming wave of chilling yin energy.
She looked at the five-story European-style villa before her, her beautiful fox-like eyes narrowing slightly.
This was no longer a place fit for humans—it was practically a haunted house.
The entire villa was shrouded in eerie ghostly energy, so oppressive even in broad daylight. If things continued like this at night, it would be a miracle if no one died.
Seeing the situation, Master Xuanqing quickly said to Li Heng and the bodyguards, “You all stay outside. Don’t come in.”
Li Heng said worriedly, “But Mr. Huo—”
Tan Lingyin interjected, “The yin energy here is too heavy. You won’t be able to handle it. Mr. Huo’s fate is noble—he’ll be fine.”
With that, she stepped onto the stairs and walked toward the villa. “Take me to see your parents.”
Zhao Deming led the way and said, “My parents live on the second floor. They’re probably still asleep now.”
“Perfect. I’ll see how they sleepwalk,” Tan Lingyin said, her pink lips curving slightly as she headed for the spiral staircase.
As soon as she reached the second floor, the yin energy grew noticeably heavier.
Tan Lingyin took out cinnabar and talisman paper from her bag. “Wait a moment, let me draw a few talismans first.”
Cinnabar and talisman paper were placed on the table, with everyone gathered around to watch.
Tan Lingyin dipped the brush tip into the cinnabar and immediately began drawing the talisman.
Master Xuanqing watched in astonishment. Shouldn’t one first purify themselves with a bath, absorb the spiritual energy of heaven and earth, and only then begin drawing the talisman?
The next moment, his eyes widened even further.
Tan Lingyin’s brush moved as if guided by divine power, flowing like a swimming dragon—she completed an entire talisman in a single, unbroken stroke!
Today, she was dressed in a white T-shirt and light gray sweatpants, looking neat and efficient. Her slender arms and delicate wrists were exposed, her fair fingers gripping the brush as she swiftly drew several more talismans before finally stopping.
Tan Lingyin handed two of the talismans to Huo Jingyan and Master Xuanqing. “There might be an accident later. Keep these with you to avoid trouble.”
Mrs. Zhao cautiously asked, “What about us?”
“You’ll be fine. This malevolent ghost won’t harm you.”
Tan Lingyin had a rough idea of what the ghost intended to do, but she still needed to meet it to confirm the details.
Master Xuanqing stared at the talisman in his hand, feeling as though it were burning his skin.
The paper was the most ordinary yellow talisman paper, and even the cinnabar was the cheapest kind—yet the spiritual power infused into the talisman was top-tier!
What kind of brushwork and mystical energy could produce such a powerful talisman in one go?
“What are you standing around for?” Huo Jingyan shot him a glance, tucking the talisman into his pocket. “Let’s follow and see.”
Master Xuanqing realized now wasn’t the time for questions and quickly followed.
Tan Lingyin was already standing in front of a door, where Zhao Deming was unlocking it with a key.
“Because they tend to wander around while sleepwalking, I always lock the door at night to prevent them from getting out.”
The door opened, revealing a pitch-black room with no lights on and the curtains drawn.
A damp, cold aura surged out, quickly chilling the entire corridor.
Tan Lingyin took a step back and said coldly, “Such heavy yin energy!”
Zhao Deming explained, “My parents have already switched rooms twice, but whichever room they sleep in becomes freezing cold. There’s nothing we can do about it…”
As he spoke, he turned on the light, instantly illuminating the room.
The next moment, a figure rushed forward and collapsed onto Zhao Deming.
The sight was terrifying—the elderly man clinging to Zhao Deming was gaunt, with thinning white hair and tightly shut eyes.
He looked like a desiccated corpse.
Master Xuanqing quickly pulled Huo Jingyan back two steps. “Don’t get too close. The death aura on him is too strong.”
Huo Jingyan also carried a death aura, and Master Xuanqing was worried it might affect him.
Mrs. Zhao stepped forward to support the old man, whispering, “Let’s get Dad back to bed. He must be sleepwalking again.”
The two carefully helped the old man lie down and covered him with a blanket.
Tan Lingyin walked in and noticed an elderly woman with white hair also lying on the bed, fast asleep.
After performing a quick divination, she said gravely, “They’re barely fifty years old, yet they look like they’re ninety. Truly, those who bring evil upon themselves cannot be saved…”
“Master, what do you mean by that?” Zhao Deming asked.
“Your father and this woman beside him have committed countless wrongs. Their current state is nothing but karmic retribution—they deserve this.”
Tan Lingyin’s tone was icy, her undisguised disgust clear in her eyes.
Zhao Deming was astonished. “So, little master, are you saying my parents are beyond saving?”
But Tan Lingyin let out a cold laugh and said slowly, “Your father is indeed your biological father, but this woman is not your birth mother at all.”
Upon hearing this, Zhao Deming was stunned. “How could this be? My mother has always treated me very well…”
Xuan Qing also looked at the woman on the bed, performing a quick calculation before saying, “Judging by her facial features, she truly shares no blood relation with you.”
Mrs. Zhao murmured softly from the side, “No wonder I always felt you didn’t look much like Mom…”
Zhao Deming’s chest heaved violently as he struggled to process this revelation.
Tan Lingyin scanned the room and said coldly, “Let’s set aside these two individuals for now. I’m here to deal with that malevolent spirit.”
Zhao Deming regained his composure. “Right, Master, please focus on the urgent matter first.”
