- Surprise! The Fake Heiress is Actually an Ancient Master of Metaphysics!
- Chapter 5 - Today is Miss Tan's Birthday
At that moment, a strange cry came from outside the courtyard, “Oh my god!!!”
Li Heng rushed in frantically, “President Huo! President Huo! The tree in the yard just got struck by lightning!”
He dashed in, anxiously pulling Huo Jingyan aside to inspect him, “You weren’t in the yard just now, were you?”
“No,” Huo Jingyan replied coldly, though his eyes remained fixed on Tan Lingyin. “Stay.”
Li Heng: “Huh? Stay what?”
Tan Lingyin smiled faintly and countered, “Does Mr. Huo know why that tree was struck?”
Li Heng: “Why???”
Huo Jingyan remained silent, waiting for her answer.
“Your impending death curse is approaching. Everything around you will spiral into misfortune—even a single blade of grass or tree will unknowingly lose its vitality.”
Tan Lingyin glanced at Li Heng and added, “Including the people around you. They’ll all be affected by your aura of death.”
Huo Jingyan’s sharp brows furrowed. “Can you really resolve this?”
“Believe it or not, that’s up to you,” Tan Lingyin replied indifferently.
She then nodded slightly at Li Heng. “Assistant Li, take care of yourself. Goodnight.”
With that, she turned and left.
Huo Jingyan frowned slightly. Shouldn’t she have been concerned about him?
Li Heng asked nervously, “President Huo, how did she know about the death curse?”
“Get out,” Huo Jingyan commanded coldly before turning back to his room.
Tan Lingyin got her wish and stayed at the villa.
Lying in bed, she slept the first warm, peaceful sleep she’d had in thirteen years.
But the Tan household was a different story.
The entire Tan family villa was shrouded in a layer of dark energy.
The eerie mansion in the rainy night had been completely overtaken by ghostly presences.
Before, when Tan Lingyin lived in the storage room, the spirits in the villa were drawn to her powerful soul, all crowding into that tiny space.
Now that she was gone, the spirits naturally sought fresh yang energy to absorb.
……
The next morning, Tan Hongzheng woke up in terror.
“Ah!” At the same time, his wife, Liu Yun, beside him jolted awake with a scream.
Drenched in sweat, she lifted the blanket in horror to check her body.
In her dream, she had been chased and bitten by wild dogs, her intestines spilling onto the ground. The pain felt so real—nothing like a dream at all.
Tan Hongzheng asked, “Honey, did you have a nightmare too?”
Liu Yun immediately clung to him. “Yes… I was bitten to death by rabid dogs in my dream…”
Tan Hongzheng patted her back and said grimly, “I dreamed the company was in trouble, owing tens of millions.”
For him, that was the most terrifying thing.
Liu Yun muttered, “It was so horrifying…”
Tan Hongzheng frowned. “Having nightmares at the same time feels a bit off.”
Liu Yun nodded. “I think so too. Could there be something unclean in the house?”
“Contact Master Ming and have him come check the house. While he’s here, have him do another reading for Yueyue,” Tan Hongzheng said as he got out of bed. “I feel uneasy. I’ll head to the company early today.”
Liu Yun agreed.
After freshening up, she went to Tan Yayue’s room.
She knocked on the door and waited a long time before it opened.
Tan Yayue’s cheeks were flushed. “Mom, why are you calling me so early?”
Liu Yun asked, “Last night was your first time sleeping at home. Did you adjust well?”
“I did,” Tan Yayue replied with a soft smile.
“Did you have any nightmares?” Liu Yun asked worriedly.
Tanya Yue’s heart skipped a beat, her eyes darting away for a moment as she quickly replied, “No, how could I have nightmares sleeping in a princess’s bed?”
Upon hearing this, Liu Yun thought that the nightmares she and her husband had must have just been a coincidence.
“Get ready and come downstairs for breakfast. It’s Sunday today, so we’ll take you to the school first to complete the enrollment procedures. You can start attending classes on Monday.”
As Liu Yun left, Tanya Yue hurriedly closed the door.
She sat on the edge of the bed, staring at the slightly disheveled sheets, her face growing even hotter.
It really felt like something had happened here.
Last night, she had a wonderful dream…
In the dream, a man with an incredible figure held her, kissing and nibbling on her. Though she couldn’t see his face clearly, she thought he was incredibly handsome…
“Ah~ If only I could really meet a man that handsome!” she murmured to herself, covering her face with a look of anticipation.
……
At the breakfast table, Liu Yun kept explaining the rules of the elite school to Tanya Yue, worried she might struggle to adjust.
But Tanya Yue suddenly asked, “Mom, what happened with last night’s matter?”
Liu Yun immediately put down her chopsticks. “I almost forgot about it because you didn’t bring it up.”
She made a call and asked, “How did it go?”
“…Ran over?”
“Is she dead?”
Frowning at the response, Liu Yun said, “I see. Go check the hospitals and see if anyone was admitted after a car accident.”
As she hung up, Tanya Yue eagerly asked, “Well? Even if she’s not dead, she must be crippled, right?”
Liu Yun shook her head slightly. “There were witnesses. The driver didn’t want to get caught, so he hit that wretched girl and fled. I told him to check the hospitals. We should have an answer soon.”
After breakfast, Liu Yun’s phone rang.
Her face darkened as she listened.
“Damn it! That wretched girl is still alive!”
“What terrible luck!”
Tanya Yue’s expression turned gloomy, and she whined, “Does that mean I’ll have to go to the same school as her? I don’t want to!”
One was the adopted daughter, the other the true heiress.
People were bound to compare them.
She didn’t want to be overshadowed by Tan Lingyin!
Liu Yun scoffed. “She’s dreaming! We’ll have the principal expel her today!”
“The tuition we paid for her can be considered as warding off misfortune for you.”
“Don’t cry, don’t cry. Mom will never let you suffer again,” she comforted her daughter softly, her heart aching for her.
Meanwhile, far away in the villa, Tan Lingyin sneezed several times early in the morning.
Rubbing her nose, she didn’t need to guess who was cursing her.
After finishing the rest of her Tai Chi routine, she wiped the fine sweat from her forehead.
The sensation of her Xuanling Bone awakening was truly different!
Before, practicing Tai Chi was just for physical fitness, but now, it nurtured the Xuan Qi within her, strengthening her Xuanling Bone.
Standing by the window, Huo Jingyan watched the slender figure.
Her Tai Chi movements were precise, and her entire being exuded an aura of spirituality.
It was very similar to how Master Xuanqing practiced Tai Chi.
It was clear she was no ordinary person.
Li Heng approached, reading from his phone. “President Huo, we’ve confirmed it. The Tan family does have a daughter named Tan Lingyin, who attends an elite high school in Nan City.”
“But last night, the Tan family held a small birthday party. Guests said they had found their biological daughter, named Tanya Yue. Yesterday was her eighteenth birthday.”
“Here are photos of the two. Please take a look.”
Huo Jingyan stared at the two photos on the screen and recognized Tan Lingyin.
So she really was the adopted daughter who had been kicked out.
He asked in a low voice, “Does the Tan family have any connections to the mystical arts?”
“No. According to our investigation, the Tan family is in business. They might have befriended some practitioners, but there are no known members of the mystical arts within the family.”
Li Heng analyzed, “Miss Tan knows how to divine fortunes—could she have learned from a master?”
Huo Jingyan replied calmly, “That’s the only possibility. Otherwise, how would a student like her understand such things?”
As they spoke, the girl in the courtyard turned around.
Meeting Huo Jingyan’s gaze, Tan Lingyin waved.
Huo Jingyan gave a slight nod and walked back to the table to sit down. “Prepare breakfast.”
Li Heng, however, couldn’t resist adding, “By the way, the information we found mentioned that today is Miss Tan’s birthday. Should we arrange for a cake or something?”
Huo Jingyan looked up at him. “Do you have too much free time?”
Li Heng immediately covered his mouth and quickly left.
Tan Lingyin returned to her room to take a shower. When she entered the living room, she saw a table full of breakfast dishes.
Huo Jingyan was reading on his tablet, a cup of coffee beside him.
She sat down at the table and popped a shrimp dumpling into her mouth. “Mr. Huo, are we eating now? Shouldn’t we wait for the guests?”
Huo Jingyan looked up. “Guests?”
