Superstar Assistant [GL] - Chapter 58
Chapter 58
Zhou Tiantian naturally couldn’t admit she was jealous. She was someone who had lived two lifetimes; admitting to being jealous would be far too… embarrassing.
Fortunately, Li Ziyu didn’t push her further. She simply laughed and said, “Anyway, I know the truth in my heart. Even if you don’t admit it, the facts are right there.”
Tiantian pulled out her phone to divert her attention. “You’re about to hit ten million followers. The comments are all asking for benefits. What are you going to give them as a ten-million-follower milestone perk?”
Li Ziyu, acting like a wealthy tycoon, suggested, “Give out money? Put money in an Alipay password red envelope and post the password on Weibo?”
Tiantian shook her head. “Nobody gives out cash for gaining followers. If you do that, anti-fans will definitely say you’re just trying to buy popularity.”
Li Ziyu felt helpless. “Then what should I do? I don’t want to do anything except be with you. How about I start a livestream? A ‘day in the life’ of the two of us.”
“That would just be coming out in public!” Tiantian was fuming, but then a thought struck her. “Actually, a livestream is okay. The fans really love your lives.”
Li Ziyu didn’t mind either way. “Livestreaming cooking? What else do they like besides that?”
Tiantian didn’t know, so Li Ziyu decided casually, “Whatever. I’m going to the gym tomorrow; I’ll just livestream my workout.”
Tiantian suddenly felt sorry for Li Ziyu’s fans. Following such a whimsical idol was truly a pitiful fate.
…
Reaching ten million followers was a moment of pride and celebration for the fans.
Whether it was the official fan club on the app or the various “wild” fan sites on Weibo, they all celebrated in their own way. Some raised money to buy books in Li Ziyu’s name for poor mountain areas; others bought billboard ads for offline promotion; and some purchased advertisements on video sites or network platforms.
There was also a specific segment of the fandom busy with video edits and fan fiction. The video editors made various montages of Li Ziyu—some focused on her “coolness,” others on her “ethereal beauty,” and some on her “hilarious moments.”
Then there were the “shipping” videos. Li Ziyu was mostly shipped with either Dong Minsi or Zhou Tiantian, so the two factions were constantly at each other’s throats. Is your video longer than mine? I’ll edit a longer one. Do you have more videos than me? I’ll call on all our shippers to boost our view counts. The war between the two sides was intense.
The fan fiction followed suit. One story after another was published, with neither side willing to fall behind.
Eventually, the fans were overwhelmed with content. “A while ago, there was a ‘food shortage’ and I wanted to create my own content. But ever since Ziyu hit ten million, the ‘food’ (content) has been endless. This is true happiness!” “Crowdfund! Crowdfund to buy Ziyu more followers! I can’t wait. I hope she gains ten million more in a single day. As long as the followers keep coming, the authors’ creativity won’t stop!”
Li Ziyu was also eager to jump in. “What the heck is this? Why are there so many fan fics of me and Dong Minsi! I’m going to take my money to Jinjiang and hire authors to write stories about the two of us. We absolutely cannot lose to the neighbors!”
Tiantian pushed her. “Go to the gym already! Your follower benefit hasn’t been posted yet!”
Li Ziyu nodded perfunctorily. “WHAT! Why did the lights go out (the scene cut) at the most crucial moment?! I’m going to DM the author and throw money at her until she writes the rest!”
Tiantian reached her limit and kicked Li Ziyu off the bed. “GO TO THE GYM!”
Startled, Li Ziyu saw Tiantian’s blushing face and suddenly laughed. She stood up, propped her hands on the edge of the bed, and smirked wickedly. “What are you shy about? We’ve already done everything. What’s there to be embarrassed about?”
Then she patted Tiantian’s belly. “Little baby, hurry up and come out. Don’t delay the romance between me and your mommy.”
Tiantian pushed her again. “Just go!”
Only then did Li Ziyu leave, full of smiles. Han Ping, who was habitually ignored by Ziyu, sighed but shook her head with a helpless smile.
…
It took a while for the heat on Tiantian’s face to dissipate. She had intended to read a book, but her eyes kept drifting toward the phone on the nightstand. Finally, her face turned a shade redder as she picked up the phone. She opened Weibo with a sense of shame, clicking on a fan fiction about herself and Li Ziyu as if she were peeping.
Coincidentally, the story she clicked was extremely suggestive and intense. In it, Li Ziyu was a CEO, and Zhou Tiantian was a little assistant working for her to pay off a debt, being humiliated by Ziyu daily.
And yet, the more she read, the more addicted she became.
The text read:
Li Ziyu sat in her wide executive chair, a slight smirk on her lips and a wickedly charming look in her eyes. Three buttons of her shirt were undone, and the thin fabric couldn’t hide the alluring curves beneath.
Li Ziyu patted her lap and ordered coldly, “Sit.”
Zhou Tiantian was unyielding. Her sweet little face was flushed deep red as she looked at Li Ziyu stubbornly. “I won’t submit to you! I came here to be your assistant, not your mistress!”
Li Ziyu tilted her chin slightly, her smile turning cold and elegant, her eyes flashing with a predatory light. “Is that so? I’ll give you three minutes to reconsider. If you refuse, starting today, I won’t let you pay back your father’s debt. I’ll let your father come to the company to pay it instead. As for the method of payment… that will be up to me!”
“You!” Tiantian looked at Ziyu with indignant rage, looking as if she would kill her the next second. But in the end, she bowed to power, walking slowly to Ziyu’s side and sitting on her lap with a trembling body.
Li Ziyu gave a satisfied smile. She pinched Tiantian’s chin and kissed her fiercely. Her lips were…
“Tiantian?”
Han Ping’s voice suddenly rang out. Tiantian was so startled that her phone fell under the bed. She scrambled to pick it up, and Han Ping walked over. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing… I’m fine,” Tiantian said quickly.
Han Ping smiled and helped her up. “Ziyu might be a bit improper sometimes, but she’s good to you. Don’t let her usual antics get to you.”
“I know,” Tiantian replied, but the crimson on her face refused to fade.
…
Meanwhile, at the gym, Li Ziyu was working out. Even though Tiantian wasn’t there, Xiao Xu and three other staff members were accompanying her.
Xiao Xu started the livestream, and countless people immediately flocked in from Weibo. Li Ziyu, wearing a sports bra and shorts, waved to the camera. “Hello everyone. Today’s live workout is your ten-million-follower benefit. Thank you all for your support and love.”
Fans had initially thought a gym livestream would be boring, but the moment they saw Ziyu, they went into a frenzy.
“What am I seeing! My god, why does Ziyu have such perfect abs! Those muscle lines are too beautiful!” “I’m a female fan, but seeing Ziyu’s chest… I’m so excited! My god, she’s so pale, and she looks extra fair there!”
Li Ziyu began her run on the treadmill. Xiao Xu wanted her to chat with the fans, but Ziyu refused. Xiao Xu knew she couldn’t compare to Tiantian, so she didn’t dare force her. However, the audience was perfectly happy chatting among themselves.
“I feel like a pervert. Why am I, a woman, staring at Ziyu’s chest!” “Ahhh, I want to date Ziyu so bad. Her body is too good!” “She’s been running for so long and she’s barely out of breath. Her stamina is amazing!! No wonder she crushed everyone in the sports segments of that variety show last time!”
After the run, the fans watched as she began training her arm strength.
Wait, why was a girl like Ziyu training her arm muscles? One fan asked, and soon the question flooded the screen. Xiao Xu saw the audience tagging her to ask Ziyu. She swallowed hard, thinking that if Ziyu got mad at her, she’d just go complain to Zhou Tiantian!
Xiao Xu gathered her courage. “Ziyu, the fans are asking why you’re training your arms?”
Li Ziyu took a deep breath mid-rep, then looked at the camera with a slight smirk and a meaningful look. “I’m afraid I won’t be able to lift her for a bridal carry.”
The fans went wild. “Who are you going to carry? Speak! Who have you set your sights on now? I thought you only loved me!” “Ahhh, Hubby, you’re going to carry me, right?!” “I think the person Hubby wants to carry is Goddess Minsi. Even though you’ve fallen for her, I’ll still support you guys!” “What are you talking about? It’s clearly Assistant Tiantian! Goddess Dong is a ‘top’ herself—two tops together won’t find happiness!”
Xiao Xu looked at the frantic comments and wanted to cry. She used to think all celebrities were like this, but after observing others, she realized only Li Ziyu was this chaotic! Sister Luo and Sister Tiantian really had their hands full!
…
The fans were very satisfied with the benefit, so naturally, they started stirring up trouble after the stream ended.
Bridal carry? In her very first variety show, Li Ziyu had indeed bridal-carried a female star with zero effort. A video-editing “big shot” found the footage and made a montage that resonated with the entire fandom.
The video was titled: Li Ziyu, stop working out! Look, nobody can carry you anymore!
The video started with today’s clip of Ziyu saying, “I’m afraid I won’t be able to lift her for a bridal carry.” Then it cut to Ziyu effortlessly picking up a popular actress, her “boyfriend energy” overflowing. Then the video flipped to behind-the-scenes footage from her past dramas. The male lead trying to lift her—the first time, he couldn’t move her; the second time, he struggled so hard his neck turned red! Then it cut to another male lead in a different drama. He picked her up, but after two steps, he almost dropped her!
Finally, the subtitles read: On behalf of all male actors who will work with Li Ziyu: STOP WORKING OUT! Do you know how heavy muscle is?! We can’t lift you anymore! You’re clearly a girl, why are you competing with us to carry other girls!
The fans were howling with laughter. Li Ziyu had always been very serious, often appearing calm and cold in front of fans, yet she used that same serious attitude to do things that the fans found hilarious.
“She breaks her ‘persona’ with a straight face. My idol is too excellent.” “I laugh the moment I see her now. I feel like Ziyu’s next project should be a comedy!”
Zhou Tiantian and the company kept a close eye on these reactions. Li Ziyu was watching too, but she lost interest after a quick look and snatched Tiantian’s phone away. “Stop reading. The fans just say the same things over and over. There’s nothing to see.”
Because Tiantian had read that fan fiction today, she felt very strange looking at Ziyu. Her heart was racing, so she made small talk. “Is it Zhao Qing’s birthday soon? What does she like? What should I get her as a gift?”
Li Ziyu said, “Just come with me. No need for a gift. Having me there is gift enough. She has her own money and her family is rich; there’s nothing she can’t buy. Let’s save the money for the baby.”
Tiantian felt that wasn’t quite right, but Ziyu didn’t see a problem.
On the day of Zhao Qing’s birthday, Ziyu and Tiantian went for a prenatal checkup first. Only after the doctor gave the okay did they leave for the hotel.
Zhao Qing’s father was a domestic hotel tycoon, and her mother was a researcher. For the birthday party, her father cleared out his largest hotel in B City just for her.
Tiantian wore a custom-made dress Ziyu had ordered for her. Though she was in flats, they were very exquisite. Li Ziyu’s arrival didn’t surprise the guests, as everyone knew the Li and Zhao families were old friends, and Ziyu and Zhao Qing were childhood besties.
When Zhao Qing saw them, she didn’t even have time to take their gift. She was so nervous she was nearly in tears. “Save me! I’m so nervous about my confession today!”
