Studying Is Such A Damn Thing - Chapter 17
As night fell, You Cheche sat on his bed, scrolling through his novel interface on his phone. Across from him, Qi Yuan sat on the other bed playing games. Neither of them spoke, but the air between them was thick with the scent of a silent competition.
“Cheche, are you sleepy?”
You Cheche raised an eyebrow. “Not at all. Why? Are you?”
Qi Yuan nodded slightly, “Oh, then I’m definitely not.”
“By the way, did you hear? Li Rong from Class 11 and the sports rep from Class 3 tried to start a group fight a few days ago. Hahaha, the scene was absolutely hilarious. According to the Class 3 academic rep, it was just a bunch of weaklings pecking at each other like chickens. Hahaha!”
You Cheche burst out laughing. “No way, seriously? That’s too funny.”
Qi Yuan said disdainfully, “With the fitness levels of those two classes, you could probably step in as their star fighter without any trouble.”
“Huh…? Hahaha, then they really are weak!”
“Oh, right, Tan Qing and his partner broke up a few days ago.”
Qi Yuan was shocked. “Who was he dating? Who would be that ungrateful? Tan Qing is such a great guy.”
“He was with Lin Ruonuo from Class 7! They were a Beta-Beta couple. Word is Lin Ruonuo broke it off because some Alpha was aggressively pursuing Tan Qing, and it made him feel too insecure!”
“Wait, really? That’s wild.”
“Yeah…”
“I’d never make my partner feel insecure like that!” Qi Yuan added.
You Cheche rolled his eyes. “Sure! Whoever dates you is in for a real treat!”
Qi Yuan puffed out his cheeks and rummaged through his suitcase, pulling out a bag of chips. He popped it open and asked, “Want some?”
“Yes!” You Cheche reached out and grabbed a massive handful.
“Are you a pig? How can you be so greedy?”
“Shut up! I’m the smartest, most high-intelligence animal there is, didn’t you know?”
“I wouldn’t know, I don’t understand barking.”
“Get lost!” You Cheche threw a pillow with precision, hitting Qi Yuan square in the head and nearly sending the chips flying.
Qi Yuan looked up at You Cheche in disbelief. “Holy crap! Are you crazy? You dare hit your Grandpa Qi? You’re asking for it!”
He stood up, lunged onto You Cheche’s bed, and pinned him down, mercilessly poking at his ticklish spots.
“Hahahaha! Let go of me! Ahhh! Qi Yuan, let go! Hahahaha! It tickles! It tickles so much! Hahahaha! Let go!”
“Do you admit you were wrong, Cheche?”
“Hahahaha, I was wrong, I was wrong!”
“Do you give up?!”
“I give up, I give up, I give up!!! Hahaha!”
Qi Yuan finally stopped, but he didn’t move away. He stayed there, looking down at You Cheche, who was still trying to catch his breath.
Because of the excitement, the corners of the boy’s eyes were flushed red and shimmering with tears. His eyes were narrowed to slits, his glasses had been pushed up to the top of his head, and his lips were bright red and slightly parted as he panted for air. He looked incredibly soft.
Qi Yuan froze for a moment until You Cheche called out to him. “Qi Yuan! Hey! What’s wrong with you?!”
He shook his head and said, “Oh, nothing.”
He turned around, moved off the bed, and returned to his own side, leaving You Cheche looking completely dazed.
Neither of them slept a wink that night.
The next day, the two of them shuffled downstairs like ghosts, sporting heavy dark circles under their eyes. They gave Li Yuyu a fright early in the morning, causing him to instinctively duck into Tang Yuwei’s arms. After realizing whose arms he was in, he scrambled out, his face turning as red as an apple.
Even though You Cheche wasn’t fully awake yet, witnessing this bit of “sweetness” made him feel a lot more alert.
“Want some breakfast?”
“Let’s go… I need food to wake my brain up…”
Shen Yiyi laughed helplessly and ruffled You Cheche’s hair. “You, you just love your bets too much. Next time, put your health first. Here, have some water.”
“Oh… Yiyi, you’re the best…” After drinking the water, You Cheche hugged Shen Yiyi and rubbed his head against her neck.
Shen Yiyi smiled dotingly, but as she looked up, she saw Song Chaolian staring over with a dark expression.
Even Qi Yuan, standing nearby, didn’t look too happy.
