Strawberry Flavored A Does Not Want To Be In A Relationship - Chapter 7
Wu Tong only squatted down to tie her shoelaces, and when she looked up, Fang Zhishui, who had been beside her, was gone.
She stared at the figure visible between the trees and, unsure, walked out through the woods. There, she saw Fang Zhishui standing with a girl of average height and a gentle temperament.
For some reason, a sentence surged into Wu Tong’s mind:
“You two together look quite well-matched!”
After saying it, Wu Tong herself was a little surprised, but being naturally thick-skinned, she pushed that surprise aside and walked up to Fang Zhishui:
“Weren’t you just going to the library? What are you doing here?”
Fang Zhishui turned sideways and said, “I saw a classmate and came over to say hello.”
Ruan Mei stared at Wu Tong in shock, feeling completely out of sorts, because the sentence Wu Tong just spoke was exactly what appeared in the original book!
This line was supposed to be said by the female lead and the male lead! How could it appear here? Could the characters in the plot still be influenced by the will of the plot to some extent?
Holy crap, does that mean that despite all her efforts to mess things up now, she might still end up heading for a fatal destination? No way! She only made it through one year of university in her past life, and she hasn’t even taken the entrance exams in this life. She absolutely cannot die!
Thinking of this, Ruan Mei felt a chill run down her spine. She glanced at Fang Zhishui and bolted.
As she ran, she started planning to change classes, scheming to move into a class with neither the male lead nor the female lead that would surely keep her alive!
Gu Yanlin, standing on the small path in the woods, didn’t know what had happened outside the woods.
But Gu Yanlin’s gaze was deeply fixed outside, his eyes revealing a trace of confusion.
Why was his heart starting to beat uncontrollably erraticly when he reached this spot? He had a feeling something was about to happen, but in reality, nothing had.
Gu Yanlin touched the corner of his lips and continued walking forward.
After returning to the classroom, Ruan Mei immediately went to find the homeroom teacher, Zhang Fan:
“Teacher, I want to change classes!”
Zhang Fan immediately launched into a tirade:
“Exams are coming up soon, what are you talking about changing for? Besides, with your garbage grades, where do you think you can switch to? Look at other classes, who would even want you? They’d be afraid you’d affect their discipline. You’ve been behaving for just a few days and now you’re already causing trouble? Get back to studying!”
Ruan Mei had planned to make a bet with the teacher, just like in the TV dramas if she could get into the top few in the exam, the teacher would grant her wish to switch classes. But Zhang Fan completely refused to follow the script, like a machine gun loaded with bullets, only firing them off (‘da, da, da’) and not listening to a word she said at all!
Ruan Mei shuffled back, sitting in her chair full of worries, constantly feeling like her life was hanging by a thread.
This world was too treacherous… She missed home, missed her mom and dad, missed the braised pork at home…
Ruan Mei buried her face in her arms, tears streaming down her cheeks, cold.
She suddenly remembered the original host’s grandmother. Her grandmother had a sharp tongue but a soft heart. Ever since Ruan Mei started studying seriously, her grandmother would pour her a glass of warm milk every night, made with the cheapest, nearly expired milk powder bought from the store. Although the taste was mediocre, every time Ruan Mei drank it, her heart felt warm.
After crying for a while, she wiped her tears, sat up, and continued to study. She still had to work at night; she didn’t have time to wallow.
Coincidentally, just as she looked up with tear streaks still on her face, she saw Fang Zhishui walk into the classroom and look in her direction.
Ruan Mei had a slightly round face, delicate features, and a rounded nose. At that moment, her lips were slightly pursed, her eyes were red, and there were undried tear stains at the corners of her eyes, with a slight flush on her cheeks she truly looked pitiable.
Fang Zhishui only glanced over and was stunned in place.
Ruan Mei immediately lowered her head, pretending to study intently, but her peripheral vision was fixed on Fang Zhishui’s legs.
She noticed that after being stunned for a moment, Fang Zhishui’s legs seemed to want to move toward her. Ruan Mei became very anxious.
Fortunately, Fang Zhishui did not follow through. Her legs turned, and she walked back to her own seat.
Ruan Mei breathed a sigh of relief, feeling as if she were walking on thin ice. She needed to lower her presence even more and avoid any interaction with the original female lead!
She didn’t expect that just a few days later, she would run into the plot point of the male and female leads meeting again outside the school library.
That day, Ruan Mei, carrying a stack of reference books, came out of the library and bumped right into Gu Yanlin.
Gu Yanlin was still the same, exuding an aura wherever he went. Many girls were secretly watching him this future school idol, who had become a figure of interest as soon as he entered high school, was already the dream boy of many girls.
His deep gaze swept casually across the crowd, lingering on no one, and he strode forward.
Ruan Mei moved aside to let him pass, but then she abruptly saw Fang Zhishui walking out of the library holding two books!
She saw clearly that these two people were definitely going to bump into each other. Even more strangely, Wu Tong, who never came to the library, was also following behind Fang Zhishui today.
What was this? Had the plot changed, and their first meeting was supposed to happen here?
Although Ruan Mei was very interested, she absolutely had to run. She picked up her books and sprinted in the opposite direction.
As she ran, she turned back for a look and saw Gu Yanlin and Fang Zhishui indeed collide!
The two books in Fang Zhishui’s hands fell to the ground. Gu Yanlin bent down to pick up the books for her. In that instant, the scene was so beautiful it was as if a halo had appeared, enveloping the handsome man and beautiful woman.
Ruan Mei slowed her pace, frowning.
She saw Gu Yanlin say a few words, probably trying to apologize like in the original plot, but Fang Zhishui ignored him. Instead, her gaze followed Ruan Mei!
It seemed that Ruan Mei running away had attracted Fang Zhishui’s attention just now, and now Fang Zhishui was looking at her, completely ignoring Gu Yanlin!
What about the fated love at first sight? What about the ‘overwhelming waves’? Female lead, hurry up and follow the plot!
Ruan Mei finally saw Fang Zhishui running toward her, leaving a brooch on the ground. Realizing the plot was beginning here, she let out a sigh of complex relief.
The male and female leads had met, the necessary item had been dropped everything that happened next would have to be dealt with as the situation evolved.
Ruan Mei ran with all her might, fleeing blindly into the restroom and staying there until class time before returning to the classroom, successfully avoiding any questioning from Fang Zhishui.
The gears of the plot were turning. Little cannon fodder Ruan Mei was now extremely cautious, wishing she could cover herself with a giant dome to avoid any contact with the plot.
She just wanted to study! No one could stop her from studying!
The monthly exam finally arrived as scheduled. Ruan Mei sat in the second to last seat in the last examination room, with the giggling Li Namei sitting behind her.
Li Namei poked Ruan Mei’s back with her pen and whined pitifully:
“Boss, can I see your test paper later? I’ve been studying middle school material lately, and I still don’t know this high school material!”
Ruan Mei turned back and lightly tapped Li Namei’s hand with her pen:
“No way! Answer diligently, don’t think about shortcuts!”
Li Namei pouted and pointed to the noisy crowd nearby:
“But everyone else is cheating.”
This exam room was full of the students who were at the bottom of the grade. None of them were studying. People were passing notes, scribbling out cheat sheets, tearing formulas from books and sticking them on their palms, and loudly asking all the deities for blessings it was a chaotic scene like a marketplace, with everyone displaying their unique talents.
Ruan Mei sighed, her gaze deep, and she put on an act:
“Cherish this gathering place for academic underachievers. We’ll be in better exam rooms later.”
A few underachievers nearby heard Ruan Mei’s words:
“Oh my, look at Ruan School Bully! Do you have a hundred cheat sheets hidden? You seem so confident?”
Ruan Mei just smiled without speaking. Seeing her boss’s calm expression, Li Namei also felt filled with strength.
During the two days of the exam, Ruan Mei ate exceptionally well meat, eggs, and milk. It was fresh milk, not milk powder mixed drink.
Her grandmother would nag while cooking every time:
“You little glutton, eat up quickly so you can do well on the exam. If you don’t do well this time, I’ll break your legs!”
Ruan Mei would always cheerfully hug her grandmother’s waist, sweetly cooing, “Grandma, you always say that, but when have you ever actually broken my legs! Don’t worry, I’ll definitely be fine this time!”
Her grandmother turned around, playfully tapped Ruan Mei with a spatula, told her off, and sent her away, but a smile played on the corner of her lips afterward, and even her cooking movements became gentler.
The exam ended quickly, and there would be a two-day break.
Ruan Mei told Sister Chuang that she would work during the break to earn more money. Sister Chuang meticulously added points for her in her small notebook.
Work plus studying busy, tiring, and mentally taxing every day. After the break, Ruan Mei actually felt that being in school was easier.
Ruan Mei heard the students around her discussing their scores. Many students had cell phones and could see their individual subject scores and total scores, but not their rankings.
“Who will be first in the grade this time? Will it still be Fang Zhishui?”
“Otherwise? Unless some transfer student with extraordinary talent shows up.”
“I hope I can make it into the top fifty this time; I promise to eat a balanced diet for life!”
In the first class, the homeroom teacher Zhang Fan walked into the classroom holding the thick English test papers, clearly holding good news.
“The monthly exam results are out today. Our class’s total ranking is first in the entire first-year group! Everyone applaud!”
The class burst into enthusiastic applause. Earning first place in the entire first-year group for just one exam could make Zhang Fan look favorably upon them for a whole month.
Zhang Fan let everyone celebrate for a while, his face beaming with a smile, and continued, “Everyone knows how excellent Fang Zhishui is, but there is another student who exceeded my expectations! Her score has increased tenfold compared to before!”
Several students gasped in surprise tenfold! How bad must her previous score have been, and how good must it be now!
Ruan Mei sat up straight in her chair, suddenly receiving a gaze from Fang Zhishui. She dared not respond, sitting rigidly, her heart pounding with nervousness and anticipation.
Zhang Fan finally turned his gaze to Ruan Mei, saying with an encouraging smile, “This student is Ruan Mei! Her previous English score was only 11 points, and this time her score is 107 points!”
Ruan Mei lowered her eyes in disappointment. The maximum score was 120 she still had a long way to go. If she encountered a 150 point paper in the college entrance exam, she would probably fall even further behind. She had to keep working hard.
The classroom fell silent.
Everyone stared at Ruan Mei in shock, forgetting how to speak or react.
Only from the other side, a cool voice rang out, tinged with a smile:
“So amazing.”
Followed by a few claps: “Pa, pa.”
It came from the perfect scorer, Fang Zhishui.
Ruan Mei couldn’t help it and looked toward Fang Zhishui, immediately seeing her sincere face.
There was absolutely no trace of falsehood, nor was she mocking her as Ruan Mei had speculated. Instead, she was genuinely happy for her.
When… when did she change? Why was there no longer any vigilance or confusion in her eyes when she looked at her before?
Thinking this, Ruan Mei blushed, and a warmth surged to her heart, feeling warm.
