Straight Corporate Slave Accidentally Stumbles into the School's F4 - Chapter 18
Chapter 18
Isn’t it just being a shield against unwanted admirers?
Money can solve ten thousand worries.
Isn’t it just acting as a shield against unwanted admirers? How hard could that be?
Thinking about how he could get two thousand US dollars every day from now on, Qiao Nai fell asleep that night with a smile, and even when he woke up the next day, his face was full of sunshine.
The studio Qiao Nai rented was in the suburbs, a relatively remote location. There was an ecological park nearby, and every day when he walked downstairs, he could encounter all kinds of birds.
These past few days, Qiao Nai had been constantly busy with part-time jobs and school, his schedule so tight it couldn’t be tighter; he hadn’t yet observed these birds closely. Today was different. He climbed out of bed early, didn’t even eat instant food, and personally cooked a pot of porridge.
Leaving the sixth floor, he even took a piece of soft bread, crumbled it through the packaging, and placed the crumbs in the spots where the birds often appeared, even greeting them: “Morning.”
The birds couldn’t understand what he was saying; they chirped a couple of times and then lowered their heads to start pecking at the bread.
Qiao Nai woke up early and started his day early today, arriving at the bus station half an hour earlier than usual, just in time for the earliest shift.
Despite his early arrival, this hour was almost entirely filled with students and office workers, making the bus quite crowded. There was an empty seat by the window; Qiao Nai approached, intending to sit down, when a gray-haired elderly person arrived. So, Qiao Nai gave up the seat and stood the entire way.
When I have money, I’ll definitely take an Uber every day!!!
Qiao Nai bit his teeth hard and made a silent vow.
When turning a corner, the bus jolted a bit. Qiao Nai lost his grip for a moment, and his phone almost fell to the floor, but luckily he reacted in time.
Qiao Nai breathed a sigh of relief. Just as he wanted to tap his phone to check the time, he caught a glimpse of a smudge of black handwriting in his palm out of the corner of his eye.
“!”
Only then did Qiao Nai remember the contact information Ferrio had written in his palm yesterday.
Yesterday he was so preoccupied with other things that he had completely tossed this matter to the back of his mind, forgetting it cleanly.
Fortunately, the pen from the fast-food restaurant was an oil-based pen and wasn’t that easy to wash off; otherwise, he would have had to waste effort finding an excuse to ask for contact information again.
Qiao Nai took out his phone and typed in the number according to the one in his palm.
He instinctively wanted to add the contact, only to discover it displayed “The other party is already a friend.”
Qiao Nai knit his brows and clicked in, finding that the account Ferrio had given him was exactly the one pinned at the top of Qiao An’s phone.
…Huh?
So this pinned contact is Lio?
As for why Qiao An would pin Lio at the top, Qiao Nai generally understood the person he liked, of course, had to be put at No.1. But as for this nickname, Qiao Nai didn’t understand it.
Why would the nickname be “Biscuit”?
Does it mean Ferrio is like a biscuit?
Qiao Nai thought about Ferrio’s physique and appearance; no matter how he looked at it, it couldn’t be linked to the word “biscuit.”
When one thinks of biscuits, they think of something fragrant and sweet. As for Ferrio, he was the complete opposite of a biscuit.
Hiss.
Why?
Ah.
Forget it.
Anyway, the person has already been caught, so these things don’t really matter.
Whatever the nickname is, it doesn’t matter.
Luckily, last time he sent a message to this account, he withdrew it in time!
Qiao Nai nodded to himself.
At this moment, the bus reached the stop. He put away his phone and got off.
Ferrio hadn’t said where he should wait, nor had he said what time to start. But since it was the first day of work, and having been a corporate slave for so many years, Qiao Nai had long since cultivated the habits of a good employee; he arrived at school an hour early.
To avoid running around in vain, after getting off the bus, Qiao Nai sent a message to Ferrio, asking him roughly what time he would arrive at school and where to find him.
To prevent Ferrio from becoming suspicious, Qiao Nai added a few extra words of explanation, saying his phone was fixed and he could log back into his original account.
After sending the message, Qiao Nai walked toward the teaching building.
Last night he had decisively resigned from all his part-time jobs. The library job insisted he write some kind of resignation letter before he could quit. Qiao Nai had no choice; while waiting for Ferrio’s reply, he bought some draft paper, went to the classroom to find an empty seat, rolled up his sleeves, and started writing.
Having been a corporate slave for so many years, his handwriting was long since practiced; if he could use cursive, he definitely wouldn’t write carefully. His writing was truly flamboyant—there was probably only one person in the world who could figure out what he wrote.
Looking at his “unrestrained” handwriting, Qiao Nai supported his forehead.
He estimated that if he turned it in, it would be rejected and returned, so he had to tear it up and rewrite it.
Writing stroke by stroke was like a form of torture to him. A beast of burden for many years suddenly returning to campus to be honest, he hadn’t fully adapted yet.
However, being a student was still much better than being a beast of burden.
After half an hour, he finally finished rewriting a page. After finishing, he checked his phone and found that Ferrio still hadn’t replied.
It was almost nine in the morning; could he still be asleep?
Qiao Nai was just thinking about whether to make a call to ask when someone suddenly patted his shoulder.
He reflexively turned his head and saw that Yun Cheng and Kablai were sitting in the seats behind him.
“When did you guys get here?” Just now he was so focused on writing the resignation letter that Qiao Nai hadn’t noticed the two of them.
“We’ve been here for a while. Seeing you busy, we didn’t bother you,” Kablai spoke up first.
“Yeah, quite a while,” Yun Cheng waved his phone. “I was just on IG looking for new members.”
“New members?” Qiao Nai asked.
“The PR department is filming a recruitment video these next few days,” Yun Cheng leaned back in his chair and sighed. “The senior who filmed the last recruitment graduated, and the department doesn’t have a suitable candidate. We can only cast a wide net on IG. I’ve been scrolling for half the day and still haven’t found a suitable one.”
He had thought about hiring someone to do the job, but for the sake of the school’s image, a major requirement for the lead was good looks, and they had to be a student of this school. Looking at these two conditions separately wasn’t a difficult thing, but combined, it was very hard to find someone.
Yun Cheng and Kablai had been searching for almost two days and still hadn’t found anyone.
“You guys are in the PR department?”
“Yeah, both Kablai and I are,” Yun Cheng nodded. “Did you forget, Qiao An? We tried to drag you along back then, but you said you were too busy and didn’t have time to go.”
“Oh, oh, I remember now,” Qiao Nai said. “I was busy writing the resignation letter just now and forgot.”
“Resignation letter? What resignation letter?” Yun Cheng sat up straight with a thud, immediately stood up, and leaned toward Qiao Nai’s side. Seeing the words on the draft paper, his face was full of disbelief: “Qiao An, you… you resigned?”
It was the first time Qiao Nai had seen such a shocked expression on Yun Cheng’s face; he almost thought he had committed some crime: “…Yeah.”
“What’s wrong?” he asked.
“Nothing, nothing, I’m just a bit excited.” Yun Cheng looked as if he had finally spotted a new candidate, his face full of excitement: “Qiao An, why did you resign? Do you have any plans after resigning?”
Speaking of why he resigned, Qiao Nai thought of Ferrio the “original uke.”
Should he say it?
Should he say that from now on he would be working by Ferrio’s side, even acting as a “temporary lover”?
It was a bit hard to say out loud.
