Straight Corporate Slave Accidentally Stumbles into the School's F4 - Chapter 17
Chapter 17
Two thousand dollars a day.
The sudden outburst not only stunned Ferrio but also caused Qiao Nai himself to freeze for a moment. However, he quickly regained his composure, pinching his fingertips and looking elsewhere awkwardly: “I mean if I can help, just let me know.”
But come to think of it, it was quite strange. What kind of illness could a doctor not treat, yet he alone could help with?
Qiao Nai was truly puzzled.
But soon, Ferrio provided the answer: “I’ve been preparing for an important match recently. Before the game, I need to immerse myself fully in training. The intensity is very high, and I need your help.”
Hearing this, Qiao Nai thought of his major: classical music.
How could he help with that? Was he supposed to sing him to sleep? Qiao Nai wasn’t good at that at all; instead of putting Ferrio to sleep, he’d probably fall asleep first himself.
So Qiao Nai asked, “How do I help?”
Ferrio was quite direct: “When you touched me just now, I felt very comfortable and relaxed.”
Oh, I see.
He wants me to help massage his arms and legs to relax his muscles?
That’s simple.
Qiao Nai was quite confident.
It would be great if there was a salary…
“You can set your own hourly rate,” Ferrio said. “I won’t let your time go to waste.”
Qiao Nai: “!!”
“Oh, aren’t we being a bit formal now?” Qiao Nai let out a couple of situational laughs: “Haha.”
“You don’t want it? If you don’t…”
“No!” Qiao Nai immediately retracted his awkward laugh.
I was just being polite!!
I want it, of course I want it!
“I just thought it was too simple, I didn’t have any other thoughts. The money doesn’t matter.” Qiao Nai nodded to himself: “This is just what good brothers should do for each other.”
“Good brothers?” Ferrio tilted his head slightly: “So, we are good brothers?”
In Qiao Nai’s understanding, “brothers” was already the closest relationship between two men.
What else could he say?
Could he say they were blood brothers? Cousins? Second cousins?
Qiao Nai looked at Ferrio in confusion.
Ferrio looked back at him, his gaze traveling from the thin eyelids all the way down to the soft lips.
Qiao Nai’s lips were very soft and thin; when he spoke, they were like two pink flower petals opening and closing, making it impossible to look away.
Every time Ferrio saw his lips, he couldn’t help but recall that sensation of warmth on his fingertip from earlier.
It lingered, refusing to leave.
He said, “Since you think it’s simple, how about helping me with another favor?”
“From now until the match, I want you to be by my side at all times to help block ‘them’ for me.”
This football match was of a high level and very important to Ferrio; during this period, he had to focus all his energy on training.
As for himself, Ferrio was never worried, but the trouble was that whether at school or the training ground, he was always surrounded by people trying to strike up a conversation, and cameras were everywhere. If he didn’t go to school for two days, his desk drawer would be stuffed with love letters; if he didn’t go for a week, rumors about him would fly everywhere.
It reached a point where he couldn’t even skip class; if he missed one session or got distracted in class, he’d be accurately caught, not just by teachers but by the surrounding students as well.
He had lived this kind of life for over a decade since he was a child, and he had gradually become cold and taciturn.
He had been thinking of a way to stall this situation. He had a plan, but no suitable candidate.
Ferrio was different from ordinary students. Although there were countless people orbiting around him, and his family was so wealthy that he seemed like a young master who lacked nothing and whose only worry was how to spend money, the reality was not like that.
People he could truly call friends were very few only Yun Cheng and a couple of others.
Furthermore, he had the kind of personality that wouldn’t take the initiative to get to know others; he didn’t like interacting with strangers. This meant that even though he had the idea, he couldn’t find the right person.
It wasn’t until Qiao Nai’s fingertips brushed against his body while bandaging him just now that he finally decided this person had to be Qiao Nai.
It wasn’t for any other reason but a feeling.
The feeling Qiao Nai gave him was different from others. Where exactly it was different was hard to say, but only a momentary sensation could explain it clearly.
Ferrio knew his request was a bit much. He didn’t have much hope that Qiao Nai would agree after all, he was so delicate and special that he surely had plenty of pursuers. But he still tried to keep him, albeit using a capitalist’s method.
“Two thousand dollars a day.”
“If that’s not enough, you can set the amount yourself.”
Qiao Nai froze on the spot.
How… how much?
Two thousand dollars a day??! That was half a month’s worth of part-time wages.
Then he absolutely had to agree!
“Is that okay?” Ferrio asked him.
With light in his eyes, Qiao Nai reached out to grasp his wrist and patted his palm earnestly: “Tomorrow no. We can start right now. I can be your little sidekick anytime.”
Though Qiao Nai still didn’t know who “them” in Ferrio’s mouth referred to…
No matter who it was, with a salary this high, it wouldn’t matter even if they were ghosts!
Just as Qiao Nai was celebrating, Ferrio suddenly said, “Not a sidekick.”
Qiao Nai’s smile stiffened: “Not a sidekick? Then what?”
“Qiao An.”
Ferrio was naturally indifferent and rarely spoke unless necessary. A classmate once followed him and counted, discovering he spoke fewer than ten times a day; Ferrio even earned the nickname “frigid” because of this. Therefore, besides Yun Cheng and Kablai who were often by his side, very few people had continuous conversations with him, including the former Qiao An.
Naturally, very few people discovered that his voice somewhat contradicted his gloomy appearance; it was actually rather deliberate and gentle, especially in this quiet space right now.
“I didn’t say a sidekick. I meant my temporary lover.”
Ferrio and Harrison had been gone for quite a while, but Qiao Nai was still in a bit of a daze.
His plan to pursue the guy hadn’t even officially begun how did he catch him just like that??
Although Ferrio mentioned “temporary lover” used to block unwanted attention, Qiao Nai’s pursuit of Ferrio was for money in the first place. With such a high daily wage, it didn’t matter if it was temporary or if he understood it or not.
What was the difference between this and successfully winning him over? Not only could he get such a high salary every day, but the work was simple he just had to stand by him to block unwanted admirers and collect love letters. Occasionally, he’d help massage his back or something similar. Compared to his other part-time jobs, it was simply too easy.
Consequently, Qiao Nai decisively resigned from all his part-time jobs that night and showed up at the training ground early the next day.
He thought he could get a good night’s sleep after quitting all his work, but the moment he closed his eyes, the scene from earlier surfaced in his mind again, and that hard, sharp r/e/ac/ti/on of Ferrio’s appeared repeatedly.
Qiao Nai tossed and turned, lying this way and that. Usually, he was the type who could fall asleep the moment his eyes closed, but now he couldn’t fall asleep no matter what.
All night long, Qiao Nai’s face and ears were burning because of that thing.
