- Chapter 21 - An Extra... Slit?
As soon as Xu Chi reached the stall, he quickly shed his bathrobe and submerged his entire body into the hot spring, leaving only his head peeking out above the water.
Seeing him like this made Gu Jingxuan want to pull him into his arms and pull him close.
“There is no one else here. Why do you look so terrified of someone catching a glimpse of you?” Gu Jingxuan spoke as he unhurriedly unfastened his own bathrobe, his fingers brushing against his lower abdomen either by chance or design.
The moment Xu Chi saw Gu Jingxuan’s fingers, he found it impossible to look away. He stared at Gu Jingxuan undressing even as his face burned a deep red.
“I was just cold. I wanted to get in and start soaking quickly,” Xu Chi said in a small voice, taking a slight step back in the water.
The air conditioning in the stall was on, keeping the room temperature at a steady 26°C. Gu Jingxuan glanced at him with a smile but did not expose his lie.
The belt of the bathrobe was untied and fell to the floor. As the robe slid off his shoulders, Gu Jingxuan arched an eyebrow and looked at Xu Chi. “So, how is your Brother Gu’s physique?”
At the question, Xu Chi’s face flushed even more intensely. He turned his body away to stop looking. “It is very good. I remember you used to be a nude model; your body is truly well-trained.”
The sound of someone entering the water reached his ears. Following Gu Jingxuan’s movements, the water made subtle, flowing sounds that made Xu Chi’s heart tighten. He had never been in a situation like this before, sharing an intimate space while naked with someone else.
Half of Xu Chi’s body felt paralyzed; he huddled in the water, not daring to move. Feeling Gu Jingxuan approach, Xu Chi tried to secretly retreat a few steps, but Gu Jingxuan grabbed his arm and pulled him toward the edge of the spring.
“Lean against the stones here and relax properly,” Gu Jingxuan said, letting go of his arm and sitting down beside him.
“Mm.”
Gu Jingxuan let out a contented sigh as the heat of the spring hit him. He turned to look at Xu Chi, whose entire face seemed to have been steamed red. “Are you actually quite afraid of me?”
“What?” Hearing this, Xu Chi turned his head in a panic to look at him, his eyes widening slightly. “No, I am not afraid of you.”
Because he was nervous, some of the deep red in his face receded, leaving his skin a soft pink from the steam. His watery eyes were wide as he looked at Gu Jingxuan, filled with a touch of panic and uncertainty. To Gu Jingxuan, he looked exactly like a startled kitten.
The older man’s lips curled into a smile as he reached out to ruffle the hair on top of Xu Chi’s head. “I didn’t think you could be afraid of me anyway. I am such an amiable person; I am quite easy to get along with.”
Recalling how the media usually portrayed Gu Jingxuan, Xu Chi couldn’t quite agree, but he still nodded obediently. “Brother Gu is a very good person. You take great care of me.”
Gu Jingxuan was stunned for a moment. “Are you giving me a ‘Good Person’ card already?”
Xu Chi didn’t give any other reaction; he just let out a silly, quiet laugh.
It wasn’t long before the film crew’s van arrived. Several actors had their eyes on this particular stall, but as soon as they saw Gu Jingxuan was there, they immediately steered clear.
Jiang Yusen walked over carrying a tray and sat down boldly on the rocks beside the spring where the two were soaking, dipping only his legs into the water.
“Director Jiang,” Xu Chi greeted him politely as soon as he saw him. In contrast, Gu Jingxuan only gave him a brief nod.
“You brat, don’t you dare bully Xu Chi,” Jiang Yusen said. He liked Gu Jingxuan; he viewed him as a rare, serious actor who was willing to truly study his craft. Now there was Xu Chi as well. Although Xu Chi’s natural talent was not yet on Gu Jingxuan’s level and he was occasionally overshadowed in scenes, his level of dedication and research was something Jiang Yusen admired even more than he had admired the younger Gu Jingxuan.
Gu Jingxuan laughed and took a small cup handed to him by Jiang Yusen. “Listen to the way you talk, Director. How would I dare bully Xu Chi? Everyone knows he is the apple of your eye. I wouldn’t dream of it.”
At Gu Jingxuan’s words, Xu Chi’s face turned red again, and he looked at the two of them with a shy smile.
Jiang Yusen did not argue. He patted Gu Jingxuan on the shoulder. “Don’t joke. Xu Chi is much more serious than you were; he might even surpass you one day.”
The two men laughed as they chatted, and watching them made Xu Chi feel a surge of joy. He had never dreamed of surpassing Gu Jingxuan; he only wanted to get closer to him, one step at a time. Being near Gu Jingxuan was enough to keep him happy for a very long time.
“Director Jiang praises me too much. How could I ever compare to Brother Gu?”
Upon hearing this, Jiang Yusen began to nag Gu Jingxuan again. “Look at Xu Chi. You are simply too flamboyant.”
Having grown used to being nagged by the director, Gu Jingxuan shot Xu Chi a mock-glare and mouthed the words, “Just you wait.”
“I have a script here and I want to find the two of you to play the leads. Not long after Childhood Sweethearts wraps, we will start production. It’s a theme centered on a same-sex relationship,” Jiang Yusen said as he stood up, adjusting his bathrobe. “No need to give me an answer right now; think it over carefully.”
He drained the liquor in his cup in one gulp and looked at them affectionately. “I’ll head out first. You two take your time soaking and discuss it properly.”
“Take care, Director,” Gu Jingxuan said with a smile as he saw Jiang Yusen off. He then reached out and poured himself another glass of plum wine. “Do you want some? The alcohol content is very low.”
Gu Jingxuan handed the cup to Xu Chi and watched him hold it with both hands, taking small sips. Looking at him made Gu Jingxuan feel a restless itch in his heart.
“What do you think about what Director Jiang just said?” Gu Jingxuan liked Jiang Yusen because he was fair, treated all actors equally, and didn’t care for connections or bribery. His work was much better than most other directors, and he was a serious person.
Gu Jingxuan’s agent had actually already shown him the script Jiang Yusen mentioned. The director had really just said it out loud to let Xu Chi hear it and give him something to consider. After all, for a young actor who hadn’t been in the industry long and didn’t have many outstanding works, taking on a role like that could be risky.
Xu Chi didn’t consider any of that. The thought of working with Director Jiang again and being in the same crew as Gu Jingxuan made him feel like he was flying.
“If Director Jiang wants me, I will definitely take the role.” His tone was certain and filled with joy, his eyes sparkling.
Gu Jingxuan had expected Xu Chi to consider it longer or perhaps stall for time so the director would ask him again. He hadn’t expected such a quick agreement; his favorable impression of Xu Chi quietly climbed to a new height.
“Hehe.” After speaking, Xu Chi continued to laugh foolishly, looking incredibly happy.
Gu Jingxuan looked at him and realized Xu Chi seemed to be drunk. His face was flushed like a sunset, and his gaze was somewhat dazed.
“Your tolerance is really low,” Gu Jingxuan said with a chuckle. He took the cup from Xu Chi’s hand, set it aside, and prepared to take him home. “Since you’re drunk, we’ll stop soaking. Let’s go home.”
Just as he was about to help Xu Chi out of the spring, the younger man climbed out on his own. He bent over to pick up the bathrobe from the floor, intending to dress himself.
Gu Jingxuan, who had been watching him from behind, suddenly froze. He stared at Xu Chi’s backside, which was thrust out because he was bending over, and felt a jolt of shock.
In the area of the perineum, was there an extra slit?
