- Chapter 20 - No Peeking for the Old Rogue
Even with that thought in mind, sitting in the passenger seat, Xu Chi felt restless and uncomfortable no matter how he positioned himself. Gu Jingxuan watched him constantly shifting from the corner of his eye; he found it amusing but chose not to say anything.
When the two arrived, the film crew’s van had not yet appeared. Xu Chi followed behind Gu Jingxuan with tiny steps, mentally calculating the probability of a successful escape if he were to slip away now.
“Keep up,” Gu Jingxuan said. He knew exactly what Xu Chi was thinking just by looking at his expression, so he spoke up to make sure the younger man stayed close and didn’t get lost.
“Oh, okay,” Xu Chi responded, reluctantly lengthening his stride to follow. It would actually be better if I did get lost, he thought.
When the receptionist saw the two men walk in, her eyes went wide. She stared at Gu Jingxuan from the moment he opened the door until he reached the service desk; her gaze never wavered for a second. One look was all it took for Xu Chi to realize she was a dedicated “girlfriend fan” of the Movie King.
“How can I help you two?” Close to Gu Jingxuan, the receptionist could hardly speak clearly. A smile spread across her face, stretching uncontrollably toward her ears.
Gu Jingxuan glanced back to ensure Xu Chi was still behind him, then tapped his long, slender fingers lightly on the marble counter. “Reservation under Director Jiang. We’ve arrived early,” Gu Jingxuan said, looking at the receptionist with a smile that was the picture of gentle harmlessness.
Anyone on the receiving end of such a look would feel their heart race. Flustered, the receptionist fumbled to find Jiang Yusen’s reservation and informed them of the location. “There are private stalls behind that small bamboo grove. If you don’t wish to be disturbed, you can soak there. I wish you both a pleasant stay.”
Gu Jingxuan nodded as he took the locker card. He then arched an eyebrow at the receptionist. “Want a photo?”
He noticed she already had her phone out in camera mode and figured she had been wanting a picture for a while. Rather than letting her sneak a blurry shot of his side or back, he thought it better to just offer a proper photo. The receptionist stood between Xu Chi and Gu Jingxuan, smiling so happily she looked like she might faint.
“Make sure not to leak this. It’s a one-of-a-kind exclusive,” Gu Jingxuan said as he handed the phone back, winking at her with blatant charm. The receptionist nodded frantically, promising she wouldn’t breathe a word.
“Let’s go. We’ll head to the stalls,” Gu Jingxuan said. He knew Xu Chi was thin-skinned, so he took the private area specifically to make him feel less self-conscious.
“Ah, okay.” Xu Chi looked down at his hand, which Gu Jingxuan was holding. The warmth from Gu Jingxuan’s palm seemed to travel through his blood directly to his heart. On a sudden impulse, Xu Chi silenced his phone and quietly snapped a photo of their joined hands. He set it as his lock screen immediately, finding himself unable to stop looking at it.
“What are you looking at so intently?” Gu Jingxuan had led Xu Chi to the changing area, only to find him staring at his phone. Curious, Gu leaned over to get a look.
Hearing Gu Jingxuan’s voice, Xu Chi looked up and saw the other man leaning in close. He instantly locked his screen. “Nothing; it’s nothing. Just chatting with a friend.” Xu Chi shoved the phone into his pocket, carefully watching Gu Jingxuan’s expression. He didn’t see it, did he?
Xu Chi’s heart was beating so fast it actually felt a bit painful. Looking at Gu Jingxuan’s flawless face right in front of him, he swallowed hard.
“Oh.” Gu Jingxuan let go of Xu Chi’s hand, opened the door to a private changing room, and locked it from the inside. “Let’s change and head to the spring. Jiang Yusen isn’t here yet, so we won’t wait for them.”
Before he could recover from his nerves, Xu Chi looked up to see Gu Jingxuan already turning his back to him and pulling off his clothes.
“Gu, Brother Gu!”
“Hmm? What is it?” Gu Jingxuan had just finished taking off his knit sweater. He turned around, bare-chested, to look at Xu Chi.
Xu Chi had already jerked his head away, his eyes flushing red with embarrassment. “Why are you changing right here?”
Gu Jingxuan looked at the door, puzzled, then approached Xu Chi with a grin. “This is the changing room, isn’t it? Why? Are you too shy to look at me?”
With every step Gu Jingxuan took closer, Xu Chi’s heart skipped another beat. He pointed toward the partitioned stalls inside the room. “Aren’t there stalls in there? It’s better to change in there, right?”
Gu Jingxuan found teasing Xu Chi to be a truly delightful pastime. He stopped and gave a casual shrug. “It’s just the two of us here, and no girls. Besides, you’re someone who has already seen my entire body; why bother with a stall? Don’t you think I’m right?”
Knowing he could never win an argument against Gu Jingxuan, Xu Chi clutched the bathrobe provided by the receptionist. Blushing furiously, he hissed the word “Rogue!” and bolted into a stall.
“Hey! You already looked at me, and now you’re running into a stall? Doesn’t that mean I’m the one losing out?” Gu Jingxuan called out, his hands busy as he continued changing.
“I’m not letting an old rogue like you see me!” Xu Chi leaned against the stall door, his face as red as an apple. He really is an old rogue, but why do I like you so much?
Xu Chi stripped off his clothes. Looking at his own pale, clean skin and comparing it to what he had just seen of Gu Jingxuan, he realized he was far too fair. I should find time to go running this summer and get a bit of a tan.
“Are you done? You didn’t fall asleep in there, did you?” Gu Jingxuan was already in his bathrobe and had scrolled through his entire Weibo feed, yet Xu Chi still hadn’t emerged.
“I’m coming! Almost ready!”
Xu Chi had initially thought about keeping his underwear on underneath, but fearing Gu Jingxuan would think it was strange, he pulled them back off. He carefully folded them and placed them in the clothing basket.
Although he already knew Xu Chi had fair skin, Gu Jingxuan still froze for a moment when the younger man stepped out of the stall. The bathrobe ended above the knees, and as Xu Chi walked, it hiked up significantly, revealing a pair of white, straight legs. Xu Chi had tied the belt a bit tight, perfectly outlining the curves of his waist and hips.
The white robe only served to make Xu Chi’s skin look even more pristine. Gu Jingxuan cleared his throat and turned around to open the door without saying a word. “Let’s go. Time to soak and get rid of the chill.”
As he spoke, he raised a hand to rub his nose sheepishly, a smile playing on his lips. His mind was entirely occupied by the image of those long, straight legs. Xu Chi wasn’t as tall as Gu Jingxuan; his official height was 178cm, but his proportions were excellent. Those legs made him look like he was 180cm tall.
With those broad shoulders, narrow waist, and long legs, Gu Jingxuan couldn’t help but cough to hide a chuckle. That tiny waist; it would surely feel wonderful to hold.
