Snuggling for Survival: A Quick Transmigration Tale - Chapter 20
Logically speaking, it was not impossible, but Ye Zi knew her best friend had a minor streak of germaphobia. When Yu Yu had a fever earlier, it was an exceptional circumstance. Now, asking her to let a friend she had only known for a short time take her home, if Li Qing woke up, she would likely be angry, would she not?
Ye Zi felt a bit conflicted, but after some thought, she decided to send her best friend back personally.
“She,” before the refusal could leave her lips, Li Qing’s hand pinched Yu Yu’s other cheek again, as if she had been plotting it for a long while. Li Qing’s gaze was still vacant, but her goal was very clear. Her fair hand kept trying to touch Yu Yu’s face.
The words “Li Qing has a germaphobia and does not like others touching her” suddenly died in Ye Zi’s throat.
“It hurts!” The pain came out of nowhere. Holding both cheeks with her hands, Yu Yu suddenly felt a bit timid, her eyes filled with shock and grievance. She is usually so cold and aloof; why does she get so handsy when she is drunk? She pinched my face so hard she does not even know how to control her strength.
Shifting her seat slightly to the side, Yu Yu cradled both cheeks, her eyes carrying a faint look of accusation. Being rejected, Li Qing’s hand paused for a moment before dropping. Her eyes remained dazed, but her face seemed to frost over. She was clearly unhappy. This petulant look left Yu Yu quite speechless. How can she be the one getting angry after bullying someone? I have not even gotten angry yet; how does she have the nerve to be upset?
Watching their little interaction, Ye Zi’s brain stalled for a moment. The pause only lasted a second. As if treating Yu Yu like some fun toy, Li Qing unconsciously leaned forward again. Yu Yu shifted her seat even further to the side. No one noticed these small movements in the corner.
“Then, I will help you take her back together,” Ye Zi said after hesitating for quite a while.
Covering her face like a little hamster, Yu Yu nodded. When she reached out to support Li Qing, she felt her cheeks were still hot. No need to ask; they were definitely pinched red! This mission target was too much!
Yet, when she absorbed the energy, she still felt it was delicious. She wished she could stick to her forever. Yu Yu’s hand gripped Li Qing’s arm tightly.
The two of them managed to get the dazed Li Qing into a car. Once inside, Li Qing seemed to sober up slightly, but not for long before her head lolled onto Yu Yu’s shoulder. Ye Zi, who had just been about to pull Li Qing’s head over to rest on herself, paused but did not think too much of it.
The height difference between the two was significant, making the posture uncomfortable for Li Qing’s neck. After a moment, her eyelids fluttered open. Lowering her lashes, Li Qing’s mind had not fully recovered. The world continued to spin for a good while until they were about to stop, and she saw her roommate’s profile. With pursed lips, the small face looked a bit more flush than usual, looking much better than when she was sick.
“We are here.”
Ye Zi’s voice sounded in her ear. Subconsciously, Li Qing closed her eyes, which had already cleared. Her roommate’s hands seemed to have no strength. Compared to Ye Zi on the other side, who was practically lifting her whole body, the roommate’s cat-like strength would not have been enough to pull her up if she were truly dead drunk.
A walk that usually took only a few minutes seemed to last an eternity this time. When she was finally helped onto the small sofa, Li Qing curled up, feeling as if a century had passed. She was drunk, yet she could clearly hear the conversation between her roommate and Ye Zi.
When she first rented the place, she had not paid much attention. The online description looked decent, so she took it. Now that she was inside, Ye Zi realized the place was a bit small. Although it was a one-bedroom apartment, the living room was piled with many things. If another bed were squeezed in, there would be absolutely no room to walk. She had thought one person lived in the bedroom and one in the living room; she had not expected it to be such a cramped situation.
Fortunately, it was only a short-term rental for a month. She could help her find a better place then. Her guilt dissipated quite a bit. Ye Zi felt somewhat embarrassed. “I have never seen her drunk before. She might have had a bit too much tonight. I am sorry to trouble you with taking care of her. I still have some finishing touches to do for my work today. I originally thought I would have a few drinks and then go back to finish it.”
Having just started her job, she did not dare be too arrogant yet. Panting slightly, Yu Yu shook her head. With the female lead gone, she got exactly what she wanted. “It is okay. I do not work, so I have plenty of time. Consider it repayment for her taking care of me before. Do not worry.”
Suddenly, her nose felt a bit stinging. Covering her eyes with her arm, Li Qing’s lips pursed as emotions suddenly surged. She did not know where her alcohol limit was. On the road, she was indeed somewhat drunk, but she seemed to have sobered up quite a bit upon returning here.
Many thoughts flashed through her mind, along with many images. The rustling sounds nearby continued for a while until her hand was held.
“Let me wipe you down.”
A cool towel wiped across her arm, bringing Li Qing’s thoughts completely back to reality. Pulling her hand back, Li Qing forced herself up. Sitting casually on the sofa, she did not speak. She just stared at Yu Yu as if observing her closely.
Yu Yu did not dare move. She had absorbed a lot of energy along the way and had intended to snag a bit more during the wiping process. She had not expected to be discovered so quickly, or rather, she had not expected Li Qing to wake up so fast. Swallowing hard, Yu Yu stared at her babyishly, looking like she was waiting for a sentence to be passed. Their eyes met, and neither backed down. After a stalemate, Li Qing lowered her head with a self-deprecating look. What on earth was she doing just now? People truly become exceptionally childish after getting drunk.
“Thank you for bringing me back. You go shower first; I will take a moment to recover.” Pinching the bridge of her nose, Li Qing let the strength drain from her body and curled back into the small sofa.
“Oh,” with a tone full of disappointment, Yu Yu, whose plot had failed, could only carry the failed towel back to the room to get her clothes for a shower.
After the little roommate entered the bathroom, Li Qing was left alone in the living room again. Her current state was somewhat lethargic, and she did not think about anything else. Once the sound of water stopped, she got up, silently returned to the room, and pulled out her pajamas.
“You should rest now,” Li Qing said hoarsely the moment she saw Yu Yu emerge from the bathroom, not even giving her a second glance.
Yu Yu stole a look at her. The person who had looked drunk just moments ago now had eyes that were clear and visibly cold. Her heart could not help but shrink. Feeling lucky she had not been too handsy earlier, Yu Yu felt it was a pity, but on the surface, she just nodded, gave an “oh,” and obediently went to blow-dry her hair before getting into bed.
The November weather was not cold, but having grown accustomed to the blanket, Yu Yu still covered herself with a slightly thick one. She had originally planned to wait for Li Qing to come in and then think of other ways. After all, her being drunk was a golden opportunity. Even if she woke up quickly, her psychological defenses should not be that high yet. She just had to casually mention what happened today, slowly open Li Qing’s heart, and then bring up the new novel she was writing, a story about a secret admirer and the object of their affection!
No, perhaps she could change it to a love triangle relationship like the one between the male and female leads and Li Qing. That would definitely open Li Qing’s heart, illuminate her sadness, and help her understand her stubbornness!
She was thinking happily to herself, but her brain could not sustain it for long. After a short while, she fell fast asleep, completely putting the drunken person out of her mind. She could be considered a bit of an irresponsible heartbreaker. As she drifted off, Yu Yu was still thinking, “Tonight is the night! I am going big!”
After cleaning herself up and returning to the bedroom, Li Qing discovered a small lump already formed on the bed next to hers. The girl must have fallen asleep in a curled position, revealing only a fair little face, her breathing steady. Seeing her roommate like this, Li Qing thought of the grand ambition she had declared at the bar about taking care of her, and instantly felt that this roommate was even more unreliable. It was good enough if she could take care of herself; taking care of others simply was not for her.
Directly dismissed in her dreams, Yu Yu was still busy with her grand fantasies in bed. Perhaps because the blanket was tucked too tightly, she kicked it off in the middle of the night when it got a bit chilly.
Early the next morning, Yu Yu felt that splitting headache and burning sensation all over again. Her strength felt drained, and a piercing pain came from her temples.
“Mm,” curled into a ball, Yu Yu struggled to stretch her toes and pull the blanket back over herself.
System: “Host! You are sick again!”
“Waaaah,” tears almost escaped Yu Yu’s eyes. This frail and sickly setting was being executed very rigorously by this body.
Glancing at the now-empty bed beside her, Yu Yu pouted. Remembering it was Friday and Li Qing still had to work, she felt even more dejected. After dawdling in bed for a while, the discomfort became unbearable. Sniffling, she forced herself to get dressed and wobbled downstairs.
She did not really want to go to the hospital, but the small clinic downstairs was said to be decent. Most importantly, there was no need to queue for an intravenous drip. While she was getting her drip with a splitting headache, Yu Yu realized something even worse. She had forgotten to bring her keys when she left. Her beautiful little face collapsed again. Physical suffering was one thing, but now she had to endure mental suffering as well.
When Li Qing came home from work, this was the scene she encountered. Her frail roommate was squatting at the apartment door, presumably having timed her return to Li Qing’s clock-off time. But Li Qing had been delayed by something on the road for half an hour. The roommate’s face was flushed red. When she saw Li Qing return, her eyes carried a hint of resentment, the kind that asked, “Why are you only back now?” But her eyes were so round that even with a bit of resentment, she looked pitiable.
Slowly standing up by leaning against the wall, Yu Yu looked at her pitifully, the medicine bag in her hand swaying slightly. Her voice was soft, without a hint of anger. “I went out today and forgot to bring my keys.”
Looking at the abnormal flush on her roommate’s face and then at the medicine bag, Li Qing sighed. This person was likely sick again. Helplessly opening the door, Li Qing was about to ask why she did not call, but then realized she did not have any contact information for her roommate. So she changed her tune. “Why did you not contact the landlord directly?”
“He went on a trip. He told me to wait for you.” Lowering her head in embarrassment as she followed her inside, Yu Yu’s voice was faint. She looked incredibly fragile, and she stumbled slightly when she had first stood up. Reproachful words simply could not be spoken to a sick person. Li Qing looked at her and could not squeeze out a single word for a long time. But her impression of this roommate grew a little; she was silly, like a foolish child.
After a day of work, she was already quite tired. After resting on the sofa for a while, Li Qing picked up her phone. Just as she replied to two messages, the roommate sitting beside her asked timidly, her tone testing the waters, “What would you like to eat? I will order it now.”
Li Qing’s brow furrowed instantly. Looking at her still-sick roommate, she asked uncertainly, “You are sick, and you are still ordering takeout?”
Yu Yu was also stunned, her eyes blinking. She did not feel she had done anything wrong. “I am ordering takeout precisely because I am sick.”
Blocked by these words, Li Qing could not argue for a moment. It was true; how could a sick person cook for themselves? “Is there no one to take care of you?” Slumping back onto the sofa, Li Qing felt she was meddling a bit too much.
Lowering her head, Yu Yu swiped across the screen as if choosing tonight’s dinner, stating her situation plainly. “It is just me. I do not have any family left.”
In that moment, Li Qing felt a profound sense of guilt. The guilt-ridden Li Qing opened her phone without another word, intending to have groceries delivered so she could cook something. “You are sick; you should not eat food from outside. I will cook for you.”
“Huh?” Doubting her ears, Yu Yu held her phone and stared at her blankly.
“I said I will cook for you. It just so happens I am hungry too.” Forcing an excuse for herself, Li Qing felt guilty. Her frail roommate did not even have family left; the words she had just said must have hurt her.
“Okay,” although she did not know why such good luck had fallen from the sky to bring her closer to Li Qing, she was not about to pass up such a great opportunity. Her eyes curved into crescents, and Yu Yu’s slightly red face was full of smiles. “Then I will help you out.”
“No need. You just rest. We will talk about it when you are better.” Quickly clicking to place the order, Li Qing exited the purchase page and returned to the chat with Ye Zi, only to feel she had been impulsive.
Ye Zi: “Qingqing, let’s go out for dinner tonight!”
She wanted to reply “okay,” but glancing at her roommate smiling foolishly beside her, Li Qing hesitated and ultimately declined. Anyway, one meal would not make a difference.
“Hee hee,” looking to be in a very good mood, Yu Yu smiled sillily like a puppy waiting to be fed, which was unexpectedly cute.
Before the vegetables arrived, Li Qing’s gaze lingered on her roommate’s fair face. They looked at each other, and it was a bit awkward. Or rather, only Li Qing was feeling awkward. Her roommate’s gaze was innocent, seemingly without any sense of the awkwardness of staring. To ease the awkwardness, Li Qing spoke stiffly. But she truly did not know how to find a topic; when a thought popped into her head, she just said it. “That day, what were you doing going to that place?”
Unsure if Li Qing was asking casually or seriously, Yu Yu shrank her neck. Mentioning it while the other person was sober made her feel inexplicably guilty, but she still explained seriously, “I was just looking for inspiration. I am preparing to start a new novel and wanted to write about that kind of setting. I have never been there before.”
She felt her explanation was very reasonable. Li Qing had already regretted asking the moment it left her mouth. Now, she simply nodded and did not say anything further. The girl’s profession was writing; it was normal to visit different scenes when lacking inspiration. She was not anyone to her, so there was no need to pry so much.
Lowering her head to play with her phone to ease the awkwardness, Li Qing did not realize that her thoughts were entirely focused on the awkwardness, completely forgetting about Ye Zi. She had even not considered that if she did not go, it would just be Ye Zi and Liu Xu together.
While one person was awkward, the other was deep in thought. Carefully observing Li Qing out of the corner of her eye, Yu Yu asked the system. “What is going on with her? Have I succeeded? If I just ran over and stuck to her, would she think I am a psycho?”
The system could not quite understand such complex emotions either. The situation of each having their own thoughts lasted until the delivery man arrived with the groceries. Yu Yu’s cheeks were still rosy, but her head did not feel as bad as before, just a bit of weakness. Having grown accustomed to being sick, Yu Yu felt that as long as her head did not ache, everything was fine.
Seeing that this person was already sick like this yet still insisted on coming over to help wash the vegetables, Li Qing was not particularly moved. In fact, she felt the other was getting in the way; a sick person should rest. But she did not say it. If the other was willing to do it, refusing would only cause more awkwardness. Despite her internal complaints, Li Qing silently turned the cold water tap toward the warm side. Realizing this later, Yu Yu felt a surge of joy. Sure enough, this cold and heartless woman’s defenses are being pried open by me bit by bit! I am going to become her best friend! When that happens, can I go shopping hand-in-hand with Li Qing just like Ye Zi?
Pursing her lips and focusing on washing the vegetables without speaking, Yu Yu’s eyes and brows were full of happiness. She seemed to have already envisioned the beautiful scene of becoming best friends with Li Qing. She simply could not hide any expression on her face. With just a few glances, Li Qing’s mood unconsciously relaxed, slowly becoming infected by Yu Yu’s emotions. Perhaps the little roommate was also a very lonely person with no friends or family, so all these cautious actions were just a desire for companionship. Her eyes unconsciously softened, and the initial annoyance toward Yu Yu slowly dissipated.
Happily going to get the bowls and chopsticks, if her body were not too weak to jump, Yu Yu could have performed a fawn’s leap for Li Qing. She did not eat less just because she was sick. Perhaps because Li Qing’s cooking was delicious, Yu Yu’s appetite was actually better than usual. Two dishes and a soup were finished completely, giving the cook a sense of achievement. Yu Yu did not just walk away; she insisted on washing the dishes. She looked as if she would get angry if Li Qing did not let her. Though her movements were slow, it did not feel that strenuous.
Just as her bottom hit the sofa, a glass of warm water was pushed toward her. “Take your medicine.”
Yu Yu felt happy inside, but thinking that Li Qing would be leaving soon, she restrained herself and whispered, “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” Her voice softened, and an unusual sense of calm settled over Li Qing.
It felt like the first time she had ever eaten with someone in such tranquility. Aside from Ye Zi and Liu Xu, she didn’t have any friends. Yet, regarding this overly fragile person, Li Qing wasn’t entirely sure what her own thoughts were at the moment. Once they left this place, there likely wouldn’t be any further intersection. It seemed… unnecessary to pursue a deep friendship.
Unsure why the expression of the person across from her had suddenly turned cold, Yu Yu pursed her lips and carefully pulled out her phone. “Could we… add each other’s contact information?”
Li Qing’s expression remained indifferent, but seeing that aggrieved, pleading face, the words of refusal failed to come out. She didn’t want to add her on WeChat, so she compromised. “Let’s just exchange phone numbers. If something happens, call me directly.”
“Oh…” Yu Yu lowered her head like an ostrich, feeling a bit defeated, but she still conscientiously entered Li Qing’s number into her phone.
Staring at the number, Yu Yu looked at the woman whose expression had inexplicably turned distant again. She even began to suspect that the contact info was fake. What if she was being tricked with a dead number?
The more she thought about it, the more plausible it seemed. Yu Yu felt flustered; she had worked so hard to get even this tiny bit of energy, and if she gave up now, wouldn’t it be a massive loss?
Gathering her courage, she asked, “Then, can I give you a call right now?”
“You may.”
Yu Yu dialed the number. Only after hearing Li Qing’s phone ring did she finally breathe a sigh of relief.
“The one that just called is my number! My name is Yu Yu.” Her eyes were innocent and joyful, as if she were treating Li Qing like her best friend.
This made Li Qing’s conscience prick her again, as the number she had provided was actually for her secondary SIM card. That last shred of guilt prompted Li Qing to actually save Yu Yu’s contact, though she didn’t mention having two cards. Thinking they would likely never meet or contact each other again after this month, Li Qing had no idea how much trouble this decision would cause her later.
Not daring to hover too obviously, Yu Yu finished her meal and shower, then huddled on her bed with her laptop to figure out a story opening. She truly needed to make a living; she didn’t know how long her savings would last in this world. Given her “frail and sickly” setting, she didn’t look fit for manual labor. She was currently living off her capital, and if she didn’t work hard soon, she’d be left with nothing.
Progress with Li Qing was slow, but it couldn’t be rushed.
Li Qing had never seen her roommate work before. Seeing that small face scrunched up at the screen was, truthfully, quite cute. Frail, a bit pitiable, a troublemaker, and now… a bit cute.
Silently, Li Qing pulled the middle curtain shut, blocking her view. She felt she must be too bored lately to be randomly labeling people like this. Shaking her head, she lay back on her bed and stared at the messages on her phone, unsure how to respond.
Ye Zi: Aaaaah! Qingqing, I’m so embarrassed that you didn’t come to dinner today! I found out I can’t even look Liu Xu in the eye now. I feel like I’m going to blush just looking at him! But he seems perfectly fine, like he isn’t doing anything special. What do I do?
Ye Zi: I think… I’ve really fallen for him.
Ye Zi: Qingqing? Are you busy?
Ye Zi: Aaaaah! I don’t know who else to tell! You’re the only one! What do I do?
Ye Zi: Reply to me when you’re free!
Li Qing’s expression turned lonely. Both were her best friends; they had grown up together. Since they had graduated university, it was normal for them to date, but… she didn’t know why her heart felt so stifled.
After much deliberation, knowing Ye Zi was waiting, she began to type.
Li Qing: I was cooking, then eating and showering. I wasn’t looking at my phone. Li Qing: If you’re sure about your feelings, you could test the waters. See if Liu Xu feels the same. He’s quite perceptive; he might have noticed something already.
A reply came quickly.
Ye Zi: I don’t know, but I think our current state is good too. He’s treating me to milk tea tomorrow! Li Qing: Mm.
Her heart felt blocked. Both were her friends and very important to her. Most importantly, Ye Zi was the one who fell first; Liu Xu hadn’t forced her. Her thoughts drifted as she stared blankly at the screen, no longer knowing what to say. She couldn’t say anything to discourage her two friends.
“Cough, cough, cough—”
The sound snapped Li Qing back to reality. She remembered her roommate had gone for an IV drip today and couldn’t help but remind her, “Maybe you should just sleep. Write after you’ve recovered.”
“Sorry, I’ll sleep now.” Thinking she was bothering Li Qing, Yu Yu lay down, her voice muffled.
Internally, Yu Yu complained. They were so close, staying in the same room, yet the other woman didn’t give her a single chance to get near. Sigh… what’s the difference between this and someone placing a giant bowl of braised pork in front of you but only letting you smell it?
Staring at the curtain, Li Qing’s expression wasn’t great either. She had clearly meant that as a gesture of concern. But knowing she was in a bad mood, her words might have come off as harsh, likely scaring the timid girl.
Feeling inexplicably in the wrong, Li Qing felt a surge of frustration. This delicate, cowardly roommate was definitely someone she needed to avoid.
Yu Yu, who had drifted off after taking her medicine, was innocent. Having done nothing at all, she was seemingly being disliked again.
This was evidenced over the following days. Li Qing avoided her as if she were the plague. While they could exchange a few words before, now there wasn’t even daily interaction. Li Qing ate breakfast out, lunch at the office, and dinner before returning. She remained silent, giving Yu Yu no chance to speak.
With only one week left in the month, Yu Yu was like an ant on a hot pan. She had no idea what she had done to be so despised. If she weren’t so weak, she would have grabbed Li Qing by the collar and demanded: What the hell did I do wrong to make you avoid me like this?!
Of course, she only thought it; she didn’t have the guts. She felt incredibly aggrieved. Since coming to this world, she had been sick almost every day, yet the target’s heart was as hard as steel. She had tried so many methods, but the woman remained cold and heartless.
And yet, she could do nothing to this “little enchantress.”
Pouting as she typed the last word of her chapter, Yu Yu’s only solace was that the response to her first posted chapter was quite good. She didn’t naturally have “writing cells,” but her mind had subconsciously framed the story of this world. After filling in scenes and characters, she decided on a love triangle story. She arranged a very melodramatic and agonizing plot. This was currently popular; despite the criticism, the growing collection count proved there was a market.
She sighed deeply and counted the days on her fingers. It was a headache. They shared a room, yet Li Qing was so cold. If she moved out, Yu Yu would lose any chance to get close. It was all the fault of this “tormenting little enchantress”, her vigilance was too strong. No one could break into her heart; it was as if she only lived for Ye Zi. Thinking of her tragic ending made Yu Yu feel miserable.
[Liuliu, where is the mission target?]
[The mission target is having dinner with the male and female leads. Although they aren’t together yet, they are in the stage of testing each other. They are showing little signs of ambiguity that are different from before. The mission target seems to be hurt.] The System pulled up a panel showing them eating and drinking.
Li Qing’s expression remained unchanged despite having drunk quite a bit; her face wasn’t even red. Watching her two best friends sitting so close together that they were almost touching, Li Qing found the scene particularly eyesore. She forced a smile and joked with them for a few rounds. After all this time, she felt like a third wheel.
Ye Zi had said that when Li Qing wasn’t there, she felt unnatural around Liu Xu; as if the three of them being together was the most natural state. The people were the same, but the atmosphere had shifted.
“It’s getting late. I should head back.” Not wanting to look at that scene anymore, Li Qing smiled and prepared to leave.
Ye Zi looked nervous. If she were left alone with Liu Xu, she would be too embarrassed!
As if seeing through her, Li Qing looked at Liu Xu. “I’ve had a lot of pressure at work lately and drank a bit much today. I’m not drunk, but I don’t want to keep hanging out. You and Ye Zi keep walking for a bit. Let’s meet up next time.”
“Okay.” Liu Xu nodded and didn’t ask her to stay. Seeing this, Ye Zi’s face turned red, and the words to ask Li Qing to stay died in her throat.
Once in the car, Li Qing messaged Ye Zi.
Li Qing: Seize the opportunity. You can’t tell much when three people are together, but the truest feelings come out when it’s just two.
After giving the driver her address, Li Qing covered her eyes with the back of her hand. Her eyes were slightly moist, but after a deep breath, it was gone.
Yu Yu glanced at the clock pointing to eight. Seeing that Li Qing was about to return, she silently packed her things and even swept the room. Li Qing had a germaphobia, and Yu Yu had brought potato chips to bed today; even though none had spilled on the other side, she couldn’t let her find out, lest it ruin their hard-earned… “ordinary roommate” relationship.
“Sigh!”
When Li Qing returned carrying a case of beer, Yu Yu had moved from the bed to the sofa, sighing. Seeing Li Qing enter, she frowned and let out another long sigh. This left Li Qing, who was already in a bad mood, unsure of what to say. Everyone has bad days; perhaps today was just her roommate’s turn.
Pursing her lips, she placed the case of beer on the small table and began drinking in silence. Even after two bottles, Li Qing’s face didn’t change at all. Perhaps feeling that the cans couldn’t numb her nerves, she pulled out a bottle. Her eyes remained clear.
Yu Yu watched from the side. Feeling it was bad to just stare and that her intent to wait for the other to get drunk and absorb energy was too obvious, she waited until Li Qing took a sip before whispering a plea. “Drinking is bad for your health. You’ve already had so much…”
Li Qing heard her but ignored her, slowly finishing half a glass. She didn’t do much while drinking; she didn’t even touch her phone.
It was after eight when Li Qing returned. Yu Yu got a bit sleepy waiting and realized it was now midnight. Li Qing’s drinking pace wasn’t fast, but it was continuous. She maintained the same expression, making it impossible for Yu Yu to judge if she was drunk.
Rubbing her stiff bottom, Yu Yu carefully walked over and leaned in close. “Are you sleepy? It’s 12 o’clock. Why don’t you rest?”
Hearing the voice nearby, the stiff-brained Li Qing turned. She met Yu Yu’s somewhat silly-looking face, and the corners of her mouth twitched. Recalling some memory, Li Qing’s hand reached out to Yu Yu’s cheek and gave it a pinch.
Help!
The ice-cold touch immediately gave Yu Yu goosebumps. Her eyes were full of shock. Is this person going to start acting like a rogue the moment she gets drunk?!
But… this was her own hand doing the moving! Her own hand sticking to her! If she woke up sober the next day, it would have nothing to do with Yu Yu!
With this thought, Yu Yu stiffened her body. Though her cheek was being pinched, she didn’t pull away. Her face gradually turned bright red. Li Qing seemed to have grown “addicted” to the feeling; after pinching her cheek, she began to pinch her ear.
Feeling an itch, Yu Yu tried to dodge, but before she could escape, her entire head was held in place by Li Qing’s hands. There was no smile on Li Qing’s face; in fact, she looked quite serious. If her expression weren’t so vacant, Yu Yu would have suspected she was faking it.
[Host! Endure it! Every touch is energy!]
Yu Yu: “…”
Forced to tilt her head back, Yu Yu’s expression was aggrieved to the extreme. But after a moment, she felt the System was right. She couldn’t get close when this person was sober, so she had to earn what she could now.
After a brief hesitation, Yu Yu chose to “lie flat.” Feeling that the face in her hands no longer tried to escape, Li Qing slowly relaxed her strength. A hint of a smile gradually appeared in her vacant eyes. This woman, who was always expressionless, looked quite beautiful when she smiled!
Yu Yu was dazed for a moment. While she was zoning out, Li Qing slowly pulled the cute person in front of her into her embrace. Feeling her head being petted like a dog, Yu Yu almost let out a string of curses. Pinching is one thing, but what do you mean by ruffling my hair like a pet?!
She had just praised Li Qing in her heart, she wanted to retract it all!
The drunk woman was stronger than her. Yu Yu couldn’t break free. Not only was her head ruffled several times, but a moment later, she was actually lifted up. When she was held on Li Qing’s lap like a little chick, Yu Yu was completely shocked. Her persona in this world was “sickly,” but she was still 1.58 meters tall and weighed 85 pounds! What was with this woman?!
Sensing her shock, the System explained calmly, [Host, don’t panic! This is just how Li Qing’s persona is. During the long period after Ye Zi and Liu Xu fought and she moved out, Li Qing was the one who did all the laundry, cooking, housework, lightbulb changing, and carrying heavy bags of rice and water. She’s very strong; she can lift over 130 pounds! She’s amazing!]
Yu Yu: “…” Is now the time to be praising her?!
