Li Qing’s expression flickered through several shifts. Her emotions were at a breaking point, but she could never let them out in front of Ye Zi. She always maintained her gentlest side for her friend. Even though her heart was aching intolerably, she could only manage to force out a strained sentence: “Then we will just have to think of something when the time comes.”

The smile on Ye Zi’s face grew even more brilliant. She hugged Li Qing’s arm giggling, feeling a sense of security. “As expected, you are the best, Qingqing.”

Indeed, whenever she encountered a problem she could not solve, she could always find peace of mind after talking to Li Qing. This person could properly understand and comfort all her hesitation and confusion.

“You really are my best friend!”

“Yes.” Hearing those words did not bring Li Qing much happiness; instead, she felt even more depressed.

She was not someone who lacked self-control. Every time they came out for a drink, she was always the most sober one. But at this moment, she no longer wanted to be sober.

Glass after glass of alcohol slid down her throat. Her hands felt numb as she repeated the motion of raising her glass over and over.

She wondered if it was a hallucination, but she thought she saw her sickly roommate cautiously walking through the entrance. Her mind was somewhat chaotic. Although Ye Zi’s voice was buzzing in her ear, sharing details of her daily life, Li Qing could not focus on them at all.

Her sluggish brain prevented her from reacting quickly. Propping her chin on her hand, her gaze became somewhat hazy as she watched the timid person. Her sense of irritability became more obvious. She could not understand why someone so cowardly would dare to wander around. Yu Yu did not seem like the type of person who would visit a bar, even if it were a quiet one.

Feeling completely out of place, Yu Yu did not dare to make her movements too obvious. She cautiously scanned the area as she slowly walked forward.

“Host, the mission target is in the corner. Where are you running to?”

Her lips curled slightly. Yu Yu went forward to order a drink for herself, then found a seat in a corner. She placed the drink on the table and continued to observe her surroundings, though she did not look like she intended to drink it.

“I think it would be very strange if I actively went to find her.”

Li Qing was a very vigilant person. No matter the method used to approach her, she would always maintain a strong sense of wariness. However, if Li Qing were the one to take the initiative, it would be different.

Yu Yu felt a bit anxious. She did not know if her judgment was correct, but truth is found through experimentation, and she was willing to try. Having observed Li Qing for several days, she had gained a partial understanding. Yu Yu felt that Li Qing would not be heartless. Judging by the fact that she took Yu Yu to the hospital and looked after her, Li Qing was not an emotionless person.

“Qingqing, what are you looking at?” After sharing for a long time without receiving a response, Ye Zi could not help but follow Li Qing’s gaze.

She saw Yu Yu in the corner, wearing simple casual clothes and a hat. She looked somewhat out of place, yet she did not seem particularly unusual. The lights were dim, and everyone was there for recreation—listening to music, chatting, or having a drink. No one cared about what anyone else was doing.

In reality, there was no danger, but Li Qing had a persistent feeling that her roommate should not be in such a place.

Standing up with a slight sway, Li Qing narrowed her eyes. “I am going over to take a look.”

“Eh? Look at what?” Standing up in confusion, Ye Zi frowned. “I have not finished talking to you yet.”

Li Qing paused for a moment and glanced at her hand being held. Her mood remained irritable, but she did not let it show. Her tone was still gentle. “The person over there is my roommate. I am going to say hello.”

Ye Zi looked at Li Qing with some hesitation, feeling that it was strange. Li Qing was usually very cold toward everyone. She would not attend various gatherings unless Ye Zi invited her. Aside from Ye Zi, she did not seem to have any other friends, and she had never mentioned anything about her roommate before. Although Ye Zi knew Li Qing had a roommate, she wondered why it mattered. Li Qing was not the type of person who would take the initiative to greet someone just because they were acquainted.

“Could it be that Li Qing has made a new friend?”

Following behind with a look of confusion, Ye Zi felt a bit happy but also a little jealous. It felt as though she had to share her friend with someone else. However, considering that Li Qing’s social circle was too small, having one more friend was a good thing. If she truly ended up with Liu Xu in the future, Li Qing would not have to be so lonely and isolated. With this thought in mind, Ye Zi’s anxiety eased.

Li Qing moved faster than Ye Zi. By the time Ye Zi finished her thoughts, Li Qing had already appeared beside Yu Yu. Because Yu Yu was sitting against the wall, Li Qing could not sit opposite her, so she sat right next to her. Her voice startled Yu Yu.

“Why are you here?”

She looked at Yu Yu with a mix of confusion and blame, as if Yu Yu had committed some heinous crime.

“I was looking for inspiration.” Yu Yu ducked her head like a coward, her voice very small. The feeling of being caught in the act was very oppressive, even though she had intentionally created this situation. It was especially intimidating since Li Qing was staring at her with an expressionless face.

“Do you not know your own physical condition? You still dare to come here to drink?” Normally, Li Qing would never meddle in others’ business, but the alcohol had gone to her head. Seeing her roommate’s swaying figure, Li Qing narrowed her eyes and reached out to pinch her cheek. It was soft, exactly the texture she had imagined.

“Qingqing, even if you are drunk, do not just pinch people randomly!”

Li Qing’s gaze darkened for a moment, and her focus was pulled back.

“It hurts.” Yu Yu pouted with a look of accusation in her eyes. This person was truly drunk and did not know how to control her strength. Yu Yu suspected her face was being pinched red. If not for the surge of energy she felt at that moment, she would have suspected it was a different person.

“I am sorry. I am so sorry. She is drunk; she is not usually like this. She never gets drunk.” Ye Zi quickly apologized to Yu Yu. Looking at Li Qing, whose gaze had become somewhat vacant, she felt a massive headache coming on.

“It is all right. I can see that she is drunk.” Touching her cheek, Yu Yu’s voice was timid, portraying the perfect image of someone with social anxiety.

“Then I will not disturb you further. I am very sorry. Given the situation, I need to take her back first.” Ye Zi held her head. She was the one who had invited Li Qing out for a drink, and she should have been the frustrated one, so why did this person drink more than her?

Yu Yu glanced at Ye Zi. She hesitated for a moment. Seeing that Li Qing was truly drunk, she spoke boldly. “I am her roommate. How about I take her back? It is only after seven o’clock and it is not dark yet, so there will be no danger.”

“This…” Ye Zi looked at her with some suspicion.

Yu Yu looked earnest. “I had a high fever before, and she took me to the hospital. Now that she is drunk, I will take her back.”
