Xue Xingqi immediately abandoned Chen Bin, who was coughing so hard he was practically retching, and entered the bathroom.
Pei Nan had already stripped naked, preparing to shower. When he turned around and faced the large mirror, he could see his entire body. His skin was pale, making any mark exceptionally clear let alone these bright red lines winding around his lower abdomen, forming a pattern that looked familiar but he couldn’t quite place at the moment.
“Xue Xingqi, what happened to me? Did you draw this on me while I was asleep in the middle of the night?”
Pei Nan assumed it was a prank, but then realized it didn’t make sense. He had only seen it after taking off his pants; if Xue Xingqi wanted to draw on him, he would have had to strip him first, and they hadn’t progressed to that stage yesterday.
Xue Xingqi blinked, not quite understanding what Pei Nan meant. “What drawing? I didn’t draw anything. Or are you talking about the red mark on the back of your neck?”
Last night, Xue Xingqi had been too excited, and Pei Nan was equally passionate. The two had rolled around kissing until their lips were swollen and tired, then switched to just pressing against each other. They simply had to be touching skin-to-skin. When Xue Xingqi held Pei Nan from behind, his nose pressed against the back of Pei Nan’s head, smelling the scent of the bath products they both used. In a fit of restless desire, he had sucked and kissed the skin on the back of Pei Nan’s neck.
In his fervor, he had actually sucked out a hickey small and round, blooming right in the center of the back of Pei Nan’s neck like a natural birthmark, beautiful and unique. Xue Xingqi loved it immensely, but he couldn’t leave any more marks than that.
After all, Pei Nan had to swim. He had to maintain Pei Nan’s image in the pool; his private side should be kept only for Xue Xingqi to see.
Xue Xingqi thought Pei Nan was asking about that.
“Uh…” Pei Nan paused, a sudden realization hitting him as he nodded. “Don’t do it again next time, okay?”
Xue Xingqi stepped forward and hugged Pei Nan, lightly brushing his lips against the back of his neck. “Understood.”
Out of bed, Xue Xingqi was very easy to talk to. Pei Nan was quite satisfied. He gave a grand wave of his hand. “I’m going to shower. You go out.”
Once the other left, he turned on the showerhead. Only then did 419 emerge to explain. It had appeared just a moment too late earlier, and Pei Nan had almost exposed its secrets. “That’s a ‘Lust Crest.’ It’s useless, though just for show. No one can see it except yourself. Once the color fades completely, you’ll be fully recovered, and I can complete my mission!”
“It doesn’t sound like anything decent. This kind of thing appearing in a modern city is just too illogical,” Pei Nan couldn’t help but complain.
419’s childish voice sounded listless. “You can modify your constitution, turn into a lop-eared rabbit, and even beat me up. How can this still be considered a ‘pure’ modern city?”
“Anyway, just be careful. You’re in a relationship now. Buy proper contraceptives before you go to bed. You should still be cautious until the lines fade. I heard from other systems that this thing is quite powerful. If you end up pregnant, don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
Pei Nan narrowed his eyes at 419. “I’m the same as Xue Xingqi. Why should he be the ‘1’ (top)? I can be too.”
“You guys decide that for yourselves. Regardless, the progress for the kissing mission is still short by… 20 minutes! Only 20 minutes left!! You and Xue Xingqi just confirmed your relationship and you’ve already kissed for two hours, 39 minutes, and 18 seconds. What exactly were you two being so ‘reserved’ about before? Among the hosts I’ve managed, aside from those in Western Fantasy or Cultivation worlds who practice ‘Dual Cultivation,’ this is the first time I’ve seen this kind of combat power.”
419 had been blocked by a mosaic screen early last night and had gone surfing the web instead. Coming back to this shocked its mechanical memory. New-age humans were truly something else!
“Was it really that long? No wonder my lips are swollen.” Pei Nan tried to argue his case. “It’s not that exaggerated. It probably counted all of our physical contact and pecks.”
“Heh, even so, that’s impressive, my ‘Kissing Maniac’ Host.”
“Tsk, looking for a beating, are we?” Pei Nan threatened overtly.
419 knew it couldn’t win against Pei Nan, so it vanished with a whoosh.
Pei Nan finally allowed his body to relax. He curiously touched the patterns on his lower abdomen. After finding that his touch didn’t cause any strange sensations, he let out a long sigh of relief.
He and Xue Xingqi took Chen Bin to lunch. After the meal, Chen Bin took a taxi back to school to go on a date with his girlfriend, Yaoyao. Meanwhile, Xue Xingqi drove Pei Nan home so he could take advantage of the rest day before the next race to see his mother.
Ms. Zhu Yun didn’t like cooking, so she had only prepared some fruit and snacks in advance.
She greeted Xue Xingqi, “Xiao Xue, come sit. Don’t be a stranger, just treat this like your own home. I thought yesterday that you were a handsome lad, truly elegant.”
“Of course, he’s the typical ‘neighbor’s kid’ type,” Pei Nan interjected while munching on an apple.
Zhu Yun glanced at him, but her peripheral vision remained on Xue Xingqi. “Don’t be sour now; I didn’t say anything about you.”
“I didn’t say you did. You should be satisfied having a son as excellent as me.”
Xue Xingqi smiled and followed up, “Nannan is indeed very excellent. He even held back a bit during the preliminary results.”
Zhu Yun took in Xue Xingqi’s expression and felt about 70 to 80 percent certain. Seeing that Pei Nan only glared at Xue Xingqi twice for being called by his nickname, she knew exactly what her son was thinking. To be honest, Zhu Yun had never imagined Pei Nan would like boys.
Her son looked rough on the edges, but he was sensitive. He looked open-minded, but was actually conservative. Choosing a girl might have meant getting hurt less in a relationship.
However, the first impression Xue Xingqi gave her was truly excellent.
Being much older, she could naturally tell that Xue Xingqi’s background was extraordinary. His overall aura and the way he handled himself weren’t things an average college student would possess. It was precisely because this kind of person was born with so much that they rarely valued emotions highly. Yet, in the two brief times she had met him, Xue Xingqi made no effort to hide his favoritism for Pei Nan.
Perhaps Xue Xingqi hadn’t even noticed it himself how bright the light in his eyes was and how high the corners of his mouth tilted when he looked at Pei Nan.
Rather than saying he wasn’t hiding it, it was more that he simply couldn’t hide it.
Love always escapes through the eyes, giving one no chance to tuck it away.
Zhu Yun chatted with them for a while before taking a work call. She spent a few minutes busy in the study. When she came out again, Pei Nan had already taken the guest back to his bedroom. Zhu Yun stood in the empty living room and couldn’t help but rub her temples. For a moment, she felt like she had given birth to a daughter: there were still many days of worrying ahead of her.
419 curled up on Zhu Yun’s shoulder, rolling around in an attempt to provide some mental solace.
“I didn’t say anything in front of my mom to save you face, but now I’m giving you a solemn warning: you are not allowed to call me Nannan.” Pei Nan’s face was sour, his expression cooling down.
Xue Xingqi raised an eyebrow. “Nannan sounds so nice. Why won’t you let me call you that?”
“It’s too childish. That’s my childhood name; I used it when I was a kid. It has zero authority. Anyway, you’re not allowed.” Pei Nan refused to let Xue Xingqi use it no matter what.
As they argued over this issue, the two eventually tumbled onto the bed.
Xue Xingqi held Pei Nan. “Reporting: I want to kiss Nannan on Nannan’s bed.”
“Not allowed!”
Pei Nan couldn’t tell if he was angry or embarrassed; regardless, his flushed face as he was pinned to the bed looked incredibly attractive. Xue Xingqi felt a surge of desire. He coaxed Pei Nan, his warm palm lightly stroking Pei Nan’s waist. The perfect amount of pressure made Pei Nan feel soft and comfortable. “Just one kiss. Be good.”
Pei Nan was a sucker for soft words. He tilted his head back and let Xue Xingqi kiss him to his heart’s content.
What was supposed to be “just one kiss” turned into a lingering, deep exchange. By the time it ended, Pei Nan realized he had been tricked. However, trying to kiss him back to get even would only result in him losing out more. Once Pei Nan caught his breath, he immediately flipped Xue Xingqi over to the side.
Just then, there were a few knocks on the door. His mother was calling them out for dinner.
The “out” meant actually going out to eat. Zhu Yun had booked a Japanese restaurant. It was a bit far, but the environment was quiet and comfortable, and the ingredients were fresh and delicious. For that, starting the trip a bit early didn’t matter.
When the two boys came out, their clothes were neat, but unfortunately, their lips were a bright, flushed red. One look was enough to tell they hadn’t been idle in the bedroom. On the way there, Zhu Yun didn’t say a word, which made Pei Nan a bit curious. “Mom, why aren’t you saying anything?”
“I’m afraid your mouth might be tired.”
Before Pei Nan could react, Xue Xingqi met Zhu Yun’s gaze in the rearview mirror. He didn’t dodge or hide; he simply nodded in acknowledgment.
Zhu Yun seemed to smile slightly, but the light turned green, so Xue Xingqi focused his attention on the road ahead.
Eating with people who understood the situation was very relaxing. Pei Nan was responsible for eating his fill, Xue Xingqi was responsible for taking care of Pei Nan while subtly showing off his capabilities to prove himself to Pei Nan’s mother, and Zhu Yun was responsible for thoroughly vetting the situation for her “silly” son.
Halfway through, Pei Nan went to the restroom. Zhu Yun and Xue Xingqi had a frank conversation.
“Although legally Pei Nan is an adult, both you and I know what he’s really like. I don’t oppose your relationship; I only hope you can see it through to the end. He deserves a great partner and a warm, loving home.”
Zhu Yun always knew what Pei Nan truly wanted.
“I promise you, I won’t let him be sad,” Xue Xingqi’s voice was soft but firm.
“I’ll be watching you.” Zhu Yun’s sharp gaze was like a sword, defending every inch of the territory she wished to protect.
When Pei Nan returned, he only saw his mother and Xue Xingqi clinking glasses.
The two were drinking sake. Pei Nan was somewhat speechless. “How can you guys drink behind my back? It’s not like I’m craving alcohol, but you could at least drink it in front of me!”
Xue Xingqi knew how to coax him. “This way, you can drive on the way back. Here, the car keys are yours.”
The keys to the big Hummer dangled before his eyes. Pei Nan’s heart nearly jumped out of his chest. He grabbed the keys, his smile revealing a row of white teeth. “Leave it to me and don’t worry! I guarantee a safe arrival for both of you!”
“Look at you, getting excited over that…”
Xue Xingqi rested his chin on his arm and watched Pei Nan. The more he looked, the more he liked him. How could someone be so perfectly tailored to his heart?
