Shocking! The Protagonist of the Mpreg Story Is a Straight Man - Chapter 28.2
In the process of stalking Pei Nan, he inevitably developed a sort of dependent emotion. Seeing Pei Nan made him feel relaxed and happy; having indirect contact made him reluctant to wash his hands; he even consciously imitated Pei Nan’s style of dress, as if it made him the same as him. Sun Qi hadn’t noticed this pathological change until Xue Xingqi spotted and warned him at the guesthouse.
But stopping now was difficult.
Pei Nan was like an addiction, causing an itch deep in his bones that could only be slightly relieved by seeing or following him.
Sun Qi even claimed he and Pei Nan were fated, as their homes were in neighboring communities. If he hadn’t moved in late, he surely would have become friends with him long ago.
Xue Xingqi couldn’t help but think of himself. He also believed he and Pei Nan were fated a destiny decreed by heaven, far beyond anything Sun Qi could claim.
He was confident he could keep Sun Qi’s existence a secret from Pei Nan and ensure the man never disturbed his life again. There was no need for Pei Nan to worry about it for now.
Later, when they were both mature enough and Pei Nan was strong enough, he would tell him everything.
The meal ended, just as Xue Xingqi expected, in the middle of the night. It was too late to go back to school, so staying in the rooms upstairs was most convenient. He called over some staff to help take the others up, then freed himself to help Pei Nan carry Chen Bin.
“Nan-Daddy, why aren’t you drinking? Try it, this wine is really good… smooth, no headache, no puking. Definitely the good stuff, sob… how much of my God Xue’s money did we spend today? My heart hurts.”
“What are you worrying about?” Pei Nan turned his face away, trying to avoid the stench of alcohol.
Chen Bin wailed, “My God Xue is my Daddy Xue. Spending my Daddy’s money, of course my heart hurts! You don’t even care… this is enough to buy how many breakfasts? I’m losing out on so much food, waaah!”
Dammit, the way Chen Bin talked made it sound like he and Xue Xingqi were “a thing.”
“If you don’t talk, nobody will think you’re a mute. Bite this crab leg and shut up.”
Xue Xingqi walked over to see Chen Bin waving a crab leg and howling. “I’m saying it, I’m saying it! I want you and Daddy Xue to carry me together. We are one happy family~”
As he spoke, Chen Bin started singing. If Pei Nan weren’t being held so tightly, he really would have dropped the guy on the floor.
“Is he really this drunk?”
“Since when is he such a bad drunk? I never noticed before.” Pei Nan was still adjusting his grip when Chen Bin suddenly slumped toward Xue Xingqi’s side.
“Papa, the sun is out, has the moon gone home?” Chen Bin sang dazedly, clutching Xue Xingqi’s arm.
Xue Xingqi felt like he was being taken advantage of. “Yes.”
“Mama, the stars are out, where did the moon go?” Chen Bin flipped over to grab Pei Nan.
Pei Nan replied crossly, “In the sky.” As he spoke, he looked up and saw Xue Xingqi grinning from ear to ear. Flushed with embarrassment, Pei Nan snapped, “Laugh all you want. He’s drunk and doesn’t know better, but what about you?”
“I know, I know, I know everything. We are one happy family~~” Chen Bin interrupted with more singing and dancing. Pei Nan didn’t dare say another word, fearing this nuisance would decide to sleep in the hotel lobby out of spite.
“Leave him to me. You go check the rooms and see if anyone else needs help. I’ll take him up,” Xue Xingqi offered to take most of the weight.
Surprisingly, Chen Bin was a real troublemaker. “No, no! I want Nan-Daddy! Neither of you can leave!”
Chen Bin tugged at Pei Nan’s sleeve so hard it nearly ripped, exposing half of Pei Nan’s shoulder from the collar.
“Fine, fine, I’m not leaving. Chen Bin, you just wait. See how you face me tomorrow when you wake up.” Pei Nan grabbed Chen Bin from the other side and gestured to Xue Xingqi. “Let’s go, get him up there.”
Xue Xingqi took them straight to the top floor. “I have my own suite here. He can stay in the inner room. He needs someone to watch him in this state anyway. What do you think?”
“Whatever you arrange is fine. I can stay anywhere.” Pei Nan paused, then asked, “Where are the others?”
“They’re in the business rooms on the 9th floor. There’s enough space, so they won’t be confused when they wake up.” Xue Xingqi had specifically requested this during the arrangements.
Pei Nan pursed his lips and thanked him seriously.
Xue Xingqi didn’t need his thanks. “No need to be so formal. The school usually gets alumni sponsorships anyway. This floor is often reserved for athletes from Jinjiang Sports University; it’s a tradition.”
“Still, thank you.”
“Alright, I accept.”
Xue Xingqi smiled warmly at him. In the mirrored elevator, Pei Nan felt entirely surrounded by Xue Xingqi’s gaze. Every time he looked up, he met that handsome, gentle expression.
Pei Nan’s heart suddenly began to race. He hadn’t touched a drop of alcohol, yet his mouth felt dry.
It must be because the elevator is moving too fast gravity and all that.
Why are there so many floors? Why is it taking so long?
419, perched on Pei Nan’s shoulder, hopped around in frustration: Host, this is just your heart racing because you like him! Stop struggling!
And you, Xue Xingqi, why aren’t you making a move? You two are just one proactive kiss away!
Even though the “window paper” was about to be poked through, even though Xue Xingqi had already claimed Pei Nan as “his,” and even though both were playing dumb, neither dared to act rashly for fear of startling the other.
Since they sat back down for the meal, Pei Nan had been worried: If Xue Xingqi confesses, how do I reject him without hurting him?
Xue Xingqi also had concerns: If I confess to Pei Nan, how do I make sure he doesn’t reject me?
They once again shared a silent understanding as they led Chen Bin out of the elevator. Inside the room, Pei Nan threw Chen Bin onto the bed and covered him. The briefly quiet Chen Bin started acting up again, grabbing and pulling. Pei Nan really wanted to knock him out.
“My ‘son,’ if you don’t let go, don’t blame your Daddy Nan for being ruthless.” Pei Nan stood by the bed, one foot braced against the frame, both hands ready to pull his arm free. “Still not letting go? Just you wait.”
As soon as he said that, Pei Nan pulled with all his might. He hadn’t expected Chen Bin’s slow brain to finally execute the previous command Chen Bin let go at the exact moment Pei Nan pulled. With the sudden loss of resistance, Pei Nan tumbled backward.
Xue Xingqi was nearly scared to death. What if he hit his head? Even with the thick carpet, it would be dangerous.
Xue Xingqi reacted so fast he caught Pei Nan just before he hit the ground. Looking at the fuzzy head pressed against his chest, he felt a wave of lingering fear. Only when he felt Pei Nan’s hot breath on his chest did he feel like he could think again.
He didn’t know how Pei Nan had done it, but in that split second, the boy had twisted his falling posture. Even if Xue Xingqi hadn’t caught him, he would have at most bruised his face rather than suffered a concussion.
Despite being out of danger, Pei Nan felt his limbs go weak. Xue Xingqi stayed seated on the floor, holding him in his arms, unable to get up for the moment.
The two held each other silently. Neither spoke, fearing their words would betray their thundering heartbeats. Although their posture already laid that secret bare, as long as they didn’t say it, they could stay stubborn.
An ambiguous tension flowed through the air.
Xue Xingqi looked down at the fuzzy head in his arms, his thoughts unknown.
Pei Nan leaned against Xue Xingqi’s shoulder, not knowing what to say. Anything would feel wrong. One moment he was wondering why his limbs hadn’t regained their strength; the next, he was thinking that once he could move, he’d pretend this never happened to avoid the awkwardness.
He lifted his head and looked right into Xue Xingqi’s downward gaze.
Pei Nan had always known Xue Xingqi was handsome, with deep features, but he hadn’t realized how those eyes could pull a person in when they were filled with such affection and desire. In that gaze, Pei Nan subconsciously held his breath, stiffening like a wooden puppet.
Having such a compliant Pei Nan in his arms was a scene Xue Xingqi hadn’t dared to imagine. Furthermore, the way Pei Nan looked up was almost an invitation for a kiss. Xue Xingqi couldn’t resist the temptation. Amidst the deafening sound of his own heartbeat, he resolutely leaned closer to Pei Nan.
