Shocking! The Protagonist of the Mpreg Story Is a Straight Man - Chapter 22
After Pei Nan said those words, he felt a sense of self-consciousness. Whether Xue Xingqi liked someone or not had nothing to do with him, and what reason did the other man have to tell him anyway? He immediately laughed it off and added, “I’m just joking. That don’t take it to heart.”
Xue Xingqi watched Pei Nan avoid his gaze. The other man’s expression was hidden in the darkness, making it difficult to discern, but he clearly read a particular underlying meaning in Pei Nan’s tone.
He looked at Pei Nan, his voice so soft it seemed as if it might scatter in the wind at any moment. “It’s true that I like him. He doesn’t know yet.”
Pei Nan looked back in surprise. “How is that possible? You’re so outstanding; who would refuse you?”
“You think I’m outstanding?”
“Of course.”
Pei Nan answered almost without thinking. Suddenly, Xue Xingqi felt an impulse: if he confessed to Pei Nan right now, would the other man accept him?
“Tell you what, you go ahead and pursue him, and I’ll be your wingman.” Pei Nan patted his chest, indicating he had plenty of experience. “When many of my buddies were chasing people, they all used my stage.”
To say Pei Nan’s words were like a bucket of ice water poured over Xue Xingqi would be no exaggeration. He couldn’t help but mock himself inwardly. Why did he insist on being so stubborn, always feeling the wrong impulses at the most inappropriate times? Fortunately, he hadn’t said it aloud yet; there was still room to continue.
“So, how about it? Do you want my help?”
“Sure, let’s wait until this period passes. Everyone is too busy right now; it’s not appropriate.”
Pei Nan, however, did not quite agree. “A good girl a good partner won’t wait for you in the same spot forever. What if, while you’re busy, they get charmed away by someone else? You’ll have nowhere to go to cry about your regrets.”
Pei Nan’s tongue had slipped, nearly forgetting that Xue Xingqi liked men. He didn’t know if his slip-up had been heard by the other party.
His voice had been very soft and he corrected himself quickly; Xue Xingqi indeed hadn’t heard it. His heart felt heavy, filled with a bit of frustration and a bit of determination. “If he gets charmed away, then I’ll just charm him back.”
“No way, man. You don’t seem like such an unethical person!” Pei Nan had just added Xue Xingqi to his circle of associate friends; he didn’t want to kick him out again so soon.
Adjusting his breathing, Xue Xingqi realized he was being a bit too hasty and feared he had scared the person beside him. He quickly feigned a relaxed smile. “I’m joking. Let’s not stand here anymore. The night wind is too cold; let’s head back.”
Since the two had to share one large bed, Xue Xingqi specifically asked the boss for an extra quilt. After washing up, they lay in their respective bedding. The exhaustion from a day of mountain climbing gradually surged up especially for Pei Nan, whose arms and legs felt the ache of lactic acid buildup.
After Xue Xingqi fell asleep, Pei Nan continued to toss and turn. Finally, unable to resist, he endured his sleepiness and sat up, rubbing his legs one by one.
As he massaged himself, he asked 419, “Do you think once Xue Xingqi has someone he likes, I won’t be able to do ‘skinship’ anymore?”
419, perched on Pei Nan’s shoulder, was utterly speechless at this question. If it weren’t afraid of scaring Pei Nan away, it really wanted to say that the person Xue Xingqi liked was him. But for now, it could only say, “Isn’t it true that he hasn’t caught them or started a relationship yet? What’s wrong with a little skinship while he’s single? If you don’t take advantage of him being single to do it, you’ll have even less of a chance later.”
“But I still feel it’s unethical.”
“But I don’t want to be electrocuted again. That punishment is truly anti-human.” Pei Nan felt his whole body go numb just thinking about the sensation.
“How about this: you finish this mission first, and I’ll go report to the higher-ups to try and get a different punishment for you.” 419 felt a bit sorry for Pei Nan.
Pei Nan looked back at the person beside him, whose sleeping posture was so peaceful it could be described as gentle, and slowly nodded.
He first attempted to reach out his hand, placing it on Xue Xingqi’s shoulder, and asked 419 if the skinship value had increased. Upon receiving a positive reply, Pei Nan felt relieved. He lay on his side, adjusting himself to a comfortable position before telling 419, “If I stop touching him later, wake me up. I’ll adjust my posture. I want to try to max out the skinship value tonight.”
Once Pei Nan had resolved his major concern, he immediately drifted into dreamland.
After a long while, the supposedly sleeping Xue Xingqi opened his eyes in the darkness. Pei Nan’s hot breath was right by his ear. Xue Xingqi used almost all of his willpower to keep himself from showing any sign of being awake.
419, sitting on the desk lamp, wasn’t surprised at all to see Xue Xingqi wake up.
It wasn’t even surprised when Xue Xingqi reached out and gently pulled Pei Nan into his arms.
Monitoring the rapidly rising skinship value that was nearing its limit, its mechanical heart was so worried it almost rusted over. Just when would Pei Nan finally understand his own heart?
Xue Xingqi traced Pei Nan’s silhouette with his eyes. The more clearly he saw him, the more his love for Pei Nan deepened.
“You delivered yourself to my door, so I won’t let you leave again.” Xue Xingqi sighed softly. “Meeting me might truly be your bad luck.”
Despite saying that, Xue Xingqi’s actions were far bolder than Pei Nan’s. He directly lifted the quilt and hugged Pei Nan. With their warm bodies pressed together, Pei Nan naturally adjusted his posture without the slightest struggle. After thinking for a moment, Xue Xingqi threw his own quilt over to Pei Nan’s side. Only after finishing all this did he fall asleep holding the other man.
419 was shocked by Xue Xingqi’s shameless behavior. How could a human be so bold!
As it turned out, Xue Xingqi could be even more excessive. Step by step, he used the gap between the quilts to lure Pei Nan over to the side where he was sleeping, creating the illusion that Pei Nan had discarded his own quilt and was fighting Xue Xingqi for his.
When Pei Nan woke up the next day, he felt as if he had been struck by lightning.
His face was pressed tightly against the side of Xue Xingqi’s face, their breaths mingling. His arm was wrapped around Xue Xingqi’s waist, and his leg was entangled with Xue Xingqi’s foot. There was a huge empty space behind him, and if Xue Xingqi moved just a bit more, he would fall off the bed.
He swallowed hard. His first instinct was to carefully retract his limbs before Xue Xingqi woke up.
However, whatever one fears most is sure to happen. Just as he moved, Xue Xingqi opened his eyes.
It had to be said that being handsome was indeed an advantage. Xue Xingqi’s current expression was much like a lazy feline; his masculine pheromones were almost overwhelming. The burning heat of his thigh pressed against Pei Nan’s under the covers made Pei Nan’s ears turn red.
Meeting Xue Xingqi’s gaze, Pei Nan explained with a short-circuited brain, “I’m doing this for your own good. Your foot is injured and shouldn’t move too much. I was helping you keep it still to avoid secondary damage.”
The excuse sounded dignified, yet Pei Nan only found it absurd.
He scrambled away from Xue Xingqi, not caring what expression the other man had. He was afraid that if he saw it, he would want to find a hole in the ground to crawl into. “I’m going to wash up first. Let’s head back quickly in a bit.”
He slammed the bathroom door shut. In the mirror, his face was incredibly red though whether from shame or embarrassment, he didn’t know.
“419, is the skinship value full?”
For the time being, he didn’t want to see Xue Xingqi again.
