She’s Fiercer Than Zombies - Chapter 46
“Gaogao, isn’t this a bit too intense?”
Yinxi’s words were already quite euphemistic, considering she was still technically a zombie! Though her body remained intact without any gruesome decay, she was still a zombie after all!
Hearing this, Qiao Gaogao felt like she couldn’t catch her breath.
Listen, just listen to what she was saying!
What did she mean by “a bit too intense”? If she would just look closely, what part of her actually showed any traces of being a zombie!
Qiao Gaogao pouted, “I think Senior just doesn’t like me enough!”
If she truly liked her enough, how could she possibly have no desire for her at all?
That would be way too saintly!
Qiao Gaogao was so upset that she nearly cried at the mere thought of such a possibility.
Yinxi was startled by Qiao Gaogao’s reaction and hurriedly shook her head to deny it, but seeing that Qiao Gaogao still didn’t believe her, she proactively embraced her and kissed her.
How could she not like Gaogao enough? Gaogao already occupied the vast majority of her heart.
“Gaogao, I like you,” Yinxi murmured between kisses, hoping Qiao Gaogao could see her true feelings.
Qiao Gaogao pouted, “So you don’t think it’s too intense anymore?”
Yinxi blushed, her eyes glistening as she shyly avoided Qiao Gaogao’s gaze, mumbling, “Before, I was wrong.”
She had still been stuck in her zombie mindset and hadn’t adjusted.
“Hmph!” Qiao Gaogao snorted heavily and turned her head away.
“Gaogao!”
Seeing that she wouldn’t look at her, Yinxi softly called her name while kissing the corner of her lips. When Qiao Gaogao still didn’t respond, Yinxi bit her lip, suppressed her embarrassment, and began unbuttoning Qiao Gaogao’s pajamas.
Qiao Gaogao secretly glanced at her from the corner of her eye. Feeling her unbuttoning the pajamas, her breathing quickened slightly. She bit her lip, pretending to know nothing, and let Yinxi undress her.
As the buttons came undone one by one, the skin hidden beneath the pajamas gradually revealed itself. Since she was getting ready for bed, Qiao Gaogao wasn’t wearing any underwear, and now with her clothes open, everything was exposed.
Yinxi’s cheeks grew increasingly red. She sneakily glanced at her fingernails and felt slightly relieved.
After her previous long nails had fallen out, these were newly grown and hadn’t had time to lengthen. They were still somewhat soft, so she shouldn’t have to worry about hurting Gaogao.
Pursing her lips, her expression grew serious and solemn, as if she were about to undertake a particularly important task. Her entire body tensed up.
Qiao Gaogao caught sight of Yinxi’s expression and thought, “…”
Why does it feel like she’s conducting an experiment?
Qiao Gaogao didn’t know how to describe her feelings at that moment, but as her senior’s hands touched her, she could no longer think at all.
She whimpered and called for her senior, begging to be held tighter, clinging to her incessantly.
Yinxi was also very inexperienced, having to attend to everything while also caring for Qiao Gaogao’s emotions. For a moment, she felt a bit overwhelmed.
Yet even so, she felt a sense of reality deep inside.
Gaogao belonged to her now.
Sweetness overflowed in Yinxi’s heart. Unable to resist, she leaned down and kissed Gaogao’s whimpering lips while guiding her hand onto her own body.
She belonged to Gaogao too.
After the absurdities of the night, the consequence was that when they woke the next morning, neither felt like getting out of bed. They clung to each other, nestled in the warm, cozy quilt, savoring the tenderness.
Yinxi woke up without realizing anything at first, snuggling deeper into Gaogao’s embrace and letting out a small yawn.
“Mmm, senior,” Qiao Gaogao called out drowsily. Though awake, she still felt overwhelmingly sleepy.
Yinxi responded lazily, about to drift back to sleep when she suddenly snapped to awareness.
Her eyes widened slightly, and she immediately sat up, staring down at herself in a daze.
As the cold air rushed in, Gaogao also became fully awake. She looked at Yinxi in confusion and, noticing her strange expression, grew anxious and sat up as well. “Senior, what’s wrong?””
Could it be that she regretted it? That didn’t seem right everything had been fine last night.
Yinxi looked up, blinked, and said hesitantly, “Gaogao, was I actually asleep earlier?”
Gaogao’s mind froze for a moment, struggling to process the question. When it finally clicked, her eyes widened slightly, and she exclaimed joyfully, “It seems like you were!”
Both of them had been too exhausted the night before. After washing up and getting into bed, they had fallen asleep almost immediately. But Yinxi’s earlier behavior had been exactly like someone who had just woken up but wanted to linger in bed.
Yinxi felt a surge of delight at first, but soon confusion set in. What was going on? Why had she suddenly been able to fall asleep?
Recalling the events of the previous night, Yinxi fell silent.
Could it have been because she was too tired?
Yinxi wasn’t sure how to feel. If it was a matter of being tired or not, did that mean she hadn’t been truly exhausted before?
“Senior, how did it feel to be asleep?”” Gaogao asked nervously, seeing her silence. Hadn’t Yinxi always wanted to sleep? Last night, when Gaogao asked what she wanted to do, her answer had been “to sleep.”
Yinxi blinked and said uncertainly, “Satisfied?”
Although she had dreamed a lot, she didn’t feel groggy or heavy-headed. Instead, she felt incredibly well-rested, especially with Gaogao, who was like a warm furnace, holding her it had been extremely comfortable.
Gaogao couldn’t help but laugh. “I hope you can sleep like this from now on.”
That way, Yinxi wouldn’t have to stay up alone, lost in thought, after Gaogao fell asleep.
Yinxi nodded, feeling a bit excited and looking forward to the night to see if she could really sleep like that again.
Since neither of them felt sleepy anymore, they didn’t linger in bed. After getting up and washing, they went downstairs and found Tang Jiu sitting alone in the dining room, slowly eating breakfast. Song Qingxu was nowhere to be seen.
Gaogao approached and asked, “Where’s Song Qingxu?”
“She’s already eaten and is outside stretching,” Tang Jiu replied, her gaze lingering on the two of them as she spoke. A look of confusion gradually appeared on her face.
They seemed the same as usual, yet she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was different, leaving her utterly puzzled.
Noticing Tang Jiu’s repeated glances, Yinxi’s face flushed slightly. She pulled out a chair and sat down, deliberately avoiding Tang Jiu’s gaze.
Even though she knew Tang Jiu couldn’t possibly figure anything out, she couldn’t help feeling a sense of guilt, as if she had done something wrong.
Qiao Gaogao couldn’t discern anything unusual. She cheerfully sat beside Yinxi, picked up an ear of corn from the table, and began eating. Yinxi, however, showed little interest in breakfast and wasn’t hungry yet, so she didn’t eat anything.
Halfway through the meal, Song Qingxu walked in wearing workout clothes, her forehead glistening with sweat. Surprisingly, Qi Miao followed closely behind, looking much the same.
Qiao Gaogao looked up at them blankly. “Did you two get into a fight?”
Why else would both of them look like that?
Tang Jiu also glanced at Song Qingxu with concern.
“No, we just sparred a bit,” Song Qingxu explained while wiping her sweat.
“Gaogao, is that how you think of your shijie?” Qi Miao gritted her teeth and pinched Qiao Gaogao’s cheeks. After all, Song Qingxu was someone she had brought back, how could she possibly bully her shimei’s friend?
Qiao Gaogao immediately realized her misunderstanding and let Qi Miao pinch her cheeks, even offering an apologetic smile.
Qi Miao released her. “I’m going to take a shower first.”
“I’ll go shower too,” Song Qingxu added.
After both of them left, Qiao Gaogao watched Tang Jiu, who remained calmly seated and eating breakfast, and couldn’t help feeling a bit anxious for her.
Was there something going on between them? Why did they seem so distant with each other?
Yinxi, noticing Qiao Gaogao occasionally glancing at Tang Jiu while eating, looked at her in confusion.
Qiao Gaogao leaned closer and whispered, “Senior, do you think there’s something romantic between them?”
It wasn’t that she thought there wasn’t, but their interactions were a bit odd.
Yinxi fell silent for a moment before shaking her head, indicating she didn’t know either.
As Tang Jiu continued eating, she noticed the two occasionally stealing glances at her, thinking they were being discreet. She paused briefly, then turned to face them, meeting their furtive gazes. Frowning slightly, she asked, “Is there something you want to say?”
Qiao Gaogao: “…”
Yinxi: “…”
Seeing them fall silent, Tang Jiu wrinkled her nose in confusion but didn’t press further.
Just as Qiao Gaogao finished her corn, Qiao Muyi walked in from outside. Noticing everyone still seated in the dining room having breakfast, she joined them and first inquired about Tang Jiu’s well-being.
“Xiao Jiu, did you rest well last night? Is there anything you’re not used to?” Qiao Muyi always extended the utmost kindness to friends brought home by Qiao Gaogao.
“Auntie, everything is fine. There’s nothing I’m not used to,” Tang Jiu replied promptly. After enduring such a long period of unstable life outside, being able to sleep peacefully here felt like a luxury.
“That’s good. If you need anything, just let me know,” Qiao Muyi said with a gentle smile before turning to Qiao Gaogao and Yinxi, her expression slightly dimming.
“Did you not find Xiao Yin’s parents?” Qiao Muyi’s tone was heavy. When she saw only the few of them return, her heart had already sunk halfway. Since they came back alone, she could roughly guess what had happened to Yin’s parents.
Yinxi pursed her lips, her expression darkening.
Qiao Gaogao glanced at Yinxi, then at her mother, before biting her lip and telling the truth even sharing everything the two had experienced afterward.
Qiao Muyi’s expression grew increasingly grave. When they had originally asked Zhou Yuan to relay the message, she had known from their words that they had encountered trouble outside, but she never imagined the situation would be this serious. Moreover, it seemed Yinxi’s parents were also involved in the matter.
“You brought the meteorite back aren’t you afraid they’ll come looking for you?” Qiao Muyi said with concern.
Qiao Gaogao and the others exchanged glances before finally saying, “Mom, if they come looking for us, wouldn’t that actually be a good thing? Right now, we’re the ones in the open while they’re in the shadows. If they show up at our door, wouldn’t that mean they’ve surfaced too?”
Facing an enemy in the dark, they could only defend passively. But against an enemy in the open, they could take the initiative!
Hearing this, Qiao Muyi said nothing more. After all, no matter what, their family would stand firmly behind Gaogao, supporting and helping her.
After discussing the serious matters, Yinxi couldn’t help but show off a little, proudly displaying her spatial ability to Qiao Muyi. With sparkling eyes, she looked at her and said, “Auntie, if you need anything, I probably have it!”
Even if she didn’t have it, once Qiao Muyi mentioned what she wanted, they could go out and find it!
Qiao Muyi was first surprised she hadn’t expected Yinxi to have evolved an ability as well and then amused, thinking Yinxi looked just like a cat that had caught its prey, unbearably smug.
“Is that so? Then I’ll have to take a good look at what you have,” Qiao Muyi said, suppressing a laugh.
Immediately, the living room was filled with piles of seeds. Yinxi presented them like treasures, saying, “I collected so many seeds, we can plant whatever we want now!”
Seeing the massive heap of seeds, Qiao Muyi’s eyes widened slightly. She stepped forward to inspect them and found not only crop seeds but even seeds for various fruits!
She smiled genuinely. “Xiao Yin, thank you so much. These seeds are very important to us.”
Currently, almost all the available land in the base had been developed, but most of it was planted with common staples like potatoes and sweet potatoes enough to fill stomachs, but difficult to swallow after eating them for so long.
But now it was different. With Yinxi’s collection of seeds, the base would have more options in the future.
Hearing Qiao Muyi’s praise, Yinxi smiled, pressing her lips together, and made sure to mention that Gaogao had taken her to search for them. Finally, she brought out even more supplies, easing Qiao Muyi’s worries about resources.
Qiao Muyi hadn’t expected that their trip outside would bring back such a huge surprise.
Qiao Gaogao sat to the side, resting her chin in her hands and watching Yinxi with a smile, thinking how incredibly adorable her senior was!
Tang Jiu also found it amusing but didn’t dare laugh out loud. Instead, she lowered her head to sip her porridge, wondering why Song Qingxu was taking so long to shower. If only he would come down now at least then she wouldn’t feel like she was the only one struggling to hold back her laughter.
In the days that followed, Yinxi accompanied Qiao Muyi to inspect various supplies and identify what was missing. Qiao Gaogao and Song Qingxu, meanwhile, focused on organizing defense projects. As for Tang Jiu, with her healing ability, she went to the medical department to contribute her skills.
Life continued peacefully for quite some time, until one morning when they were abruptly awakened by a massive explosion. The group quickly dressed and hurried to the base’s main gate, only to find a crowd already gathered outside, frantically fighting back.
As they watched the frenzied zombies wreaking havoc among the people, they exchanged glances, each harboring the same suspicion.
It seemed this group was from Tai’an.
