She’s Fiercer Than Zombies - Chapter 43
Watching her senior’s flustered and embarrassed expression, Qiao Gaogao couldn’t help but squint and smile, holding her tightly, unwilling to let go.
Seeing her clingy demeanor, Yinxi also smiled faintly and actively nuzzled her cheek.
That night, everyone except Yinxi slept soundly. No matter how much Yinxi now resembled a normal human, when it came to sleep, she remained like a zombie able to function without it.
Whether this was good or bad was hard to say. In a way, it made her invincible, yet lonely.
The group drove to the area where Taian Building was located and could still see hordes of zombies surrounding the building, blocking it completely. However, at this point, these zombies no longer posed any significant threat to them.
With a sharp, piercing roar from Yinxi, the sound rippled out like waves. Every zombie that heard her voice could sense the intense pressure, involuntarily obeying her command and beginning to leave the area in an orderly fashion.
Yet, among them were a few distinct presences. The moment they sensed Yinxi’s movements, they darted toward the group at incredible speed!
Among those figures, Qiao Gaogao spotted a familiar one, the petite figure that had once chased them into fleeing. Her movements were still as agile as a leopard’s.
Instantly recalling the grudge, Qiao Gaogao snorted lightly and said, “Everyone, be careful of that petite female zombie. She’s extremely fast.”
“Got it, everyone stay alert,” Song Qingxu reminded.
“Understood.”
The group quickly prepared their defenses. The petite zombie charged into their formation first. Qiao Gaogao used metal to form a shield, while Yinxi provided support by mentally suppressing the enemy. Tang Jiu acted as support, replenishing their health, and Song Qingxu, with her overwhelmingly powerful thunder ability, served as the main offensive force.
A lightning whip struck the petite zombie with precision. A sizzling sound followed, leaving a deep lash mark on the zombie’s body. At the same time, she was paralyzed, frozen in place.
Seizing the opportunity, Qiao Gaogao swiftly moved in to deliver the finishing blow. A sharp military spike pierced the zombie’s neck, and with a forceful twist.
Crack!
The chilling sound of bone breaking echoed clearly in the ears of everyone present. Yet, even with her head half-dangling from her neck, the zombie’s vitality remained terrifyingly tenacious.
The other zombies following closely behind the petite one soon arrived five in total instantly surrounding the group.
Everyone instinctively formed a protective circle around Yinxi. After all, no matter how high her zombie rank, she was still a novice with no combat experience.
“Roar!”
With Yinxi’s roar, the other zombies’ expressions visibly stiffened, showing signs of confusion.
They couldn’t understand why a zombie would mingle with humans and attack her own kind.
Yinxi roared again, trying to persuade them to step aside.
“Roar! Roar!”
“Roar! Roar! Roar! Roar!”
“Roooaar!”
Qiao Gaogao and the others watched in bewilderment as the zombies roared back and forth. Strangely enough, the opposing zombies seemed to be softening their stance!
Finally, the petite zombie pointed at Qiao Gaogao, then at Song Qingxu, and let out a series of roars directed at Yinxi.
Somehow, Qiao Gaogao and the others sensed an accusatory tone in the zombie’s roars.
Yinxi looked troubled and continued roaring.
The other three thought to themselves: Hmm, looks like they’re negotiating.
“Grrr grrr grrr!” The petite zombie pointed at her own neck and stomped her foot angrily.
“Grrr!”
Seeing her pitiful state, Yinxi’s voice carried a hint of guilt as she tentatively spoke, “Grrr grrr.”
Hearing this, the petite zombie pondered for a moment before reluctantly nodding.
Yinxi immediately breathed a sigh of relief and turned to say, “Gaogao, I’m going to help her reattach her neck.”
Qiao Gaogao was a bit worried and wanted to do it herself.
“It’s fine, she won’t attack me,” Yinxi reassured her.
She pulled out a large roll of gauze from her space, walked up to the petite female zombie, and fell silent at the sight of her filthy body.
She had forgotten about that detail earlier.
“Senior, let me do it,” Qiao Gaogao quickly offered.
Yinxi hesitated but ultimately couldn’t bring herself to do it and handed the gauze to Qiao Gaogao.
No matter what, she couldn’t overcome her mental barrier she couldn’t bear the thought of having to straighten the zombie’s head and imagining what her hands would end up looking like.
Qiao Gaogao chuckled inwardly. Under the zombie’s intimidating gaze, she gave an apologetic smile and carefully straightened the lolling head, then wrapped the gauze around it layer by layer to secure it. Once she was sure the head wouldn’t droop so horrifyingly anymore, she asked Yinxi to take out a mirror.
“Take a look, are you satisfied?” Qiao Gaogao held the mirror up to the zombie, asking nervously.
The zombie leaned closer to the mirror, examined herself carefully, and nodded with some satisfaction before letting out a growl at Yinxi.
Yinxi’s cheeks flushed slightly as she looked at Qiao Gaogao and Song Qingxu. “Could you apologize to her?”
Qiao Gaogao: “?”
Song Qingxu: “…”
Tang Jiu suddenly couldn’t hold back her laughter, her sparkling eyes brimming with amusement.
So, this was what it felt like to have a zombie in the team? They could actually negotiate and converse with enemy zombies.
Under the zombie’s watchful gaze, Qiao Gaogao and Song Qingxu bowed in unison to the petite zombie.
“We’re sorry, we didn’t control our strength properly.”
Seeing the two of them bow and apologize, the zombie seemed quite satisfied. She turned and growled a few times at the other zombies, clearing a path for them to pass.
Yinxi led the way as they moved forward. Qiao Gaogao, curious, asked, “Senior, why did they agree to let us in?”
Yinxi glanced back at the zombies and replied softly, “Because our strength is on par with theirs. Fighting wouldn’t benefit them.”
“And they’re guarding this place to keep Tai’an’s people out.”
“Huh?”
Everyone was stunned by this revelation. So, these zombies weren’t gathered here by Tai’an’s orders?
“Then why are they gathered here? What does it have to do with Tai’an?” Song Qingxu frowned.
Yinxi paused for a moment before answering, “They are test subjects.”
