She’s Fiercer Than Zombies - Chapter 41
Qiao Gaogao was stunned, looking at Yinxi in disbelief, hardly able to believe those words had come from her mouth.
“Senior!” Qiao Gaogao cried out. How could she praise someone else as being more fragrant than herself!
She was no longer Senior’s sweet, fragrant darling!
Yinxi looked at her with some confusion, not quite understanding why her emotions had suddenly become so intense. But before she could say anything, Song Qingxu’s delighted voice came from the other side.
Turning to look, she immediately understood the reason for Song Qingxu’s joy.
They saw Tang Jiu slowly open her eyes. At the same time, a layer of white light enveloped her previously injured palm. In the blink of an eye, as the white light dissipated, her hand was restored to its original state.
The three of them, who had been excited by her awakening, now stared at her in stunned silence after witnessing her ability to heal her own wound.
Even high-level ability users like Qiao Gaogao and the others, whose recovery speed was already much faster than ordinary people’s, couldn’t claim to be as fast as Tang Jiu. It was simply unbelievable.
Tang Jiu woke up to find them staring blankly at her, not yet grasping what had happened. Puzzled, she asked, “Why are you all gathered around me?”
Yinxi swallowed slightly, her teeth itching as she stared at Tang Jiu with a wolf-like intensity.
Qiao Gaogao saw this and thought, “…”
Song Qingxu was the first to react. Without hesitation, she quickly asked, “How are you feeling? Do you notice anything unusual about your body?”
“Unusual about my body?” Tang Jiu was confused. What could possibly be unusual about her body? But after taking a moment to sense herself, her expression shifted slightly, and she froze in astonishment.
Seeing her stunned reaction, Song Qingxu’s heart leaped into her throat. Her hand, resting on the edge of the bed, tightly gripped the blanket as she watched Tang Jiu anxiously.
Noticing her concern, Tang Jiu quickly explained, “It’s nothing. It’s just that I feel unprecedentedly well.”
As she said this, Tang Jiu seemed a bit hesitant. After a moment of contemplation, her gaze fell on Song Qingxu’s abdomen. Closing her eyes to focus, a white light similar to the one that had appeared on her palm earlier suddenly enveloped Song Qingxu’s abdomen.
The other two were baffled by her actions, but then they saw Song Qingxu’s expression shift to one of surprise as she looked down at her abdomen in disbelief.
Before long, the white light over Song Qingxu’s abdomen faded. Eagerly, Song Qingxu lifted the hem of her shirt. Qiao Gaogao and Yinxi immediately leaned in to look and saw the bandage wrapped around her waist.
Qiao Gaogao and Yinxi’s faces froze in unison.
Amused by their expressions, Song Qingxu proactively unwrapped the bandage. Immediately, everyone could see the change in her abdomen. What had been a deep, horizontal knife wound had now completely healed, leaving only a pink strip of newly grown, tender flesh.
All three turned their inquisitive gazes to Tang Jiu, hoping she could explain what was happening.
Hesitantly, Tang Jiu said, “It seems. I might have the ability to heal.”
The three fell into a collective silence. This was no longer a possibility, it was a certainty!
Qiao Gaogao pouted. Fine, she would admit that Tang Jiu was indeed more “fragrant” than herself. With a healing ability like that, who wouldn’t be fragrant?
Song Qingxu finally broke into a genuine smile, her eyes slightly red-rimmed. “This is a good thing.”
Her long-standing worry had always been that if something happened to her, Tang Jiu wouldn’t be able to survive properly. Now, she felt somewhat relieved with this ability, she could ensure her future security.
Tang Jiu couldn’t help but smile softly. Although her ability didn’t seem particularly lethal, she was still overjoyed. At least now, when she saw Song Qingxu injured, she wouldn’t feel completely powerless.
Yinxi stood beside Tang Jiu, inhaling her scent with an almost blissful expression. “You really smell so good.”
Qiao Gaogao’s face instantly twisted with indignation as she glared fiercely at Tang Jiu.
Tang Jiu felt a bit helpless. Why did it seem like she was trying to steal her senior? But considering Yinxi’s identity as a zombie, she suggested, “Should I draw some blood for you?”
As a zombie, Yinxi was naturally more attracted to ability users, so Tang Jiu reasonably suspected that Yinxi was craving her blood.
Yinxi’s eyes immediately lit up. “Really?!” Even her speech had suddenly become fluent.
Qiao Gaogao pouted, staring resentfully at Yinxi.
Song Qingxu, watching from the side, sighed helplessly. If a man had said what Yinxi just did, wouldn’t that be outright creepy?
Tang Jiu nodded. “Of course.”
After all, she had awakened a healing ability now. Drawing a little blood was nothing compared to cutting off a piece of flesh for her.
In the end, Tang Jiu actually drew a 40ml bag of blood for Yinxi. She was genuinely curious about what effect her blood would have on Yinxi.
Under the watchful eyes of the three, Yinxi slowly drank the blood. With the first sip, her eyes narrowed slightly, a flicker of delight passing through them.
Almost visibly, Yinxi’s long nails began to fall off, replaced by soft, pink new ones. Beyond that, everyone sensed another change in Yinxi, though none could pinpoint exactly what it was.
After finishing the bag of blood, Yinxi still seemed a bit unsatisfied. She looked up at them, her voice smooth and clear. “It was really delicious!”
Qiao Gaogao’s eyes widened in disbelief. Her senior’s voice had truly returned to how it was before the apocalypse gentle and soothing, incredibly pleasant to hear!
Song Qingxu and the others also showed surprise. None had expected a bag of blood to bring about such a significant change. If they hadn’t known Yinxi was a zombie beforehand, there was no way they could have guessed she had any connection to zombies now.
This evolution was nothing short of terrifying.
“Senior, how do you feel?” Qiao Gaogao asked tentatively.
A hint of joy appeared in Yinxi’s eyes. “My space has grown a lot larger.”
“Huh?” Everyone was puzzled. Did her blood have an effect on her spatial ability too?
Yinxi stroked her chin thoughtfully. “It seems that as my strength increases, the size of my space expands as well.”
“How big is your space now?” Tang Jiu asked.
Yinxi thought for a moment. “About the size of four football fields.”
Qiao Gaogao was stunned. Previously, it was only two football fields in size, and now it had doubled!
Yinxi was thrilled with this outcome. The larger her space, the closer she was to becoming the wealthiest person in the apocalypse!
Tang Jiu pondered thoughtfully did this mean she had become a coveted delicacy among the zombie hordes?
Song Qingxu had clearly considered this as well, voicing her concern: “If Ah Jiu’s blood is so effective against zombies, will they all start targeting her from now on?”
Devouring Tang Jiu alone could be more rewarding than consuming several other ability users wasn’t this a classic case of “guilty of possessing a treasure”?
“It’s fine,” Yinxi shook her head. “Most zombies can’t detect much of a difference.”
Otherwise, given how long they had stayed here, the scent from Gao Gao and Song Qingxu alone would have attracted hordes of zombies long ago.
Hearing this, Song Qingxu felt much more at ease. With Yinxi’s assurance, it was as good as a guarantee. After all, Song Qingxu had never encountered a zombie like Yinxi, which likely meant her rank among the zombies was exceptionally high.
With the matter settled, Yinxi and the others returned to their rooms to rest, sleeping soundly until the sun was high in the sky. Qiao Gaogao opened her bleary eyes and instinctively reached for the person beside her.
“Senior?” Finding the space empty, Qiao Gaogao’s mind sharpened into wakefulness.
“Hmm?” Yinxi’s gaze shifted from the book she was reading, a hint of confusion in her eyes as she looked at Gaogao.
Seeing her seated by the bay window with a book, Qiao Gaogao relaxed, a soft smile gracing her lips, her eyes shining brighter than the morning sun.
“Good morning, Senior!”
“Good morning,” Yinxi replied, her own smile mirroring Gaogao’s.
After washing up, Qiao Gaogao headed out with Yinxi. Song Qingxu had already prepared breakfast, and they arrived just in time to enjoy it warm.
Savoring the steaming noodles, Qiao Gaogao closed her eyes contentedly, feeling warmth spread through her entire body.
The weather that day was unexpectedly pleasant. After breakfast, the group went up to the rooftop to bask comfortably in the sunlight, almost as if it were the pre-apocalyptic days, a sunny winter day outdoors together.
“We might be leaving soon,” Qiao Gaogao suddenly remarked, gazing at the clouds in the sky.
“Huh?” Song Qingxu and Tang Jiu turned to them in unison, puzzled by the sudden decision.
After a moment of silence, the two decided to share the details of their earlier discoveries.
Listening to their explanation, Song Qingxu and Tang Jiu frowned slightly. Could this global catastrophe have been man-made?
“So, you’re saying you plan to return to S City and investigate the Tai’an Building?”
“Yes,” they confirmed.
With Qiao Gaogao’s growing strength and Yinxi’s recent breakthrough into a higher-level zombie, they felt it was time to attempt the mission once more.
Song Qingxu and Tang Juo exchanged a glance. “Then we’ll go with you. More people mean more strength. Even though you’ve grown stronger, the zombies have likely evolved too. It’s safer to go together.”
“But it’s dangerous,” Qiao Gaogao frowned. She had originally thought that after they left, Song Qingxu and the others could either continue wandering or find a safe base, she hadn’t considered involving them in such a risky endeavor.
After all, what they faced wasn’t just zombies there were also cunning humans with unknown intentions.
“You’re aware of the danger, which makes it all the more important to prepare thoroughly, enhance our own strength, and minimize the risk factor,” Song Qingxu said calmly.
“Well, it’s also a good chance for us to experience the imposing scene of a zombie boss taking to the streets,” Tang Jiu chuckled softly.
Yinxi: “…”
Why did that statement sound a bit off?
Nevertheless, the four of them eventually set off together on the journey to S City. Along the way, they finally caught a glimpse of the official presence.
