She’s Fiercer Than Zombies - Chapter 27
Looking at the senior’s now flawless skin, Qiao Gaogao found it hard to describe her feelings.
Not only were the bruises from her practice falls gone, but even the previous abrasions had vanished without a trace. This immediate effect after drinking blood would have made even Hua Tuo widen his eyes in astonishment!
Yinxi could also clearly feel the changes in her body. The weakness she had been experiencing lately was completely swept away, replaced by an intensely refreshing and comfortable sensation.
However…
Yinxi’s expression turned somewhat dazed, biting her lip with a deeply puzzled look.
Seeing her like this, Qiao Gaogao immediately grew anxious and asked cautiously, “Senior, what’s wrong?”
Could it be some side effect from drinking her blood?
Amid Qiao Gaogao’s unease, Yinxi hesitantly placed her hand on the mattress beneath them. The next second,
“Ah!”
Qiao Gaogao let out an involuntary cry as she felt a sudden chill under her, followed by the sensation of sitting directly on the hard wooden bed.
Qiao Gaogao was stunned.
What happened to the mattress she had just laid out not long ago?
Dazedly raising her eyes to Yinxi, she saw that the other girl wasn’t faring any better than her.
“S-senior, where’s the mattress?” Qiao Gaogao asked tremulously.
Tilting her head, Yinxi made the mattress reappear in her hand the next moment.
Qiao Gaogao: “!!!”
Her eyes widened in shock that gradually transformed into excitement. Gripping Yinxi’s shoulders, she asked joyfully, “Did you awaken a supernatural ability?!”
It looked like a spatial ability!
Pursing her lips, Yinxi nodded firmly!
“Ahhhh!”
Qiao Gaogao felt like she was going crazy. The succession of good news today was almost overwhelming. She cupped Yinxi’s face and planted several quick kisses on it!
“Senior! This is amazing! Ahhh I’m so happy!”
Her unrestrained joy proved contagious to Yinxi, who now wore a hint of pride as she made the mattress disappear and reappear in her hand, looking utterly pleased with herself.
After all, she had long envied Qiao Gaogao for having supernatural abilities. Now that she had one too, how could she not be happy and proud for a while!
Seeing her smugly curl her lips, Qiao Gaogao couldn’t resist leaning in to kiss her several more times, her eyes sparkling as she said, “Senior is truly incredible!”
The more she praised, the happier and prouder Yinxi became, to the point that she didn’t even scold Qiao Gaogao for being so clingy and kissy.
–
Qiao Gaogao laid the mattress back down and brought over the dinner tray, saying, “Senior, let’s have dinner first.”
Yinxi looked at the steak and shook her head.
“Growl growl!” I’m full.
Full?
Qiao Gaogao was stunned for a moment before quickly realizing it was probably because Yinxi had drunk her blood earlier. Since she wasn’t hungry, Qiao Gaogao simply ate by herself, saving the trouble of preparing another meal later.
After quickly finishing dinner, Qiao Gaogao adopted a more serious tone to discuss the day’s events.
Starting with how she had managed to control the zombies earlier.
“Growl!”
Faced with her question, Yinxi’s tone weakened, mumbling uncertainly as if unsure how to respond.
“Senior?” Qiao Gaogao was puzzled. Was this something that couldn’t be discussed?
“Growl growl.”
“Growl growl growl.”
“Growl growl growl growl growl.”
The more she listened, the more dazed Qiao Gaogao’s expression became. After a moment, she snapped back to reality and looked deeply at Yinxi, stroking her chin as if pondering something.
Yinxi explained that she suddenly felt the zombies were too low-level and believed they should obey her, yet her combat ability was lower than theirs, which felt strange and made the zombies seem guilty.
“Roar?” Yinxi tilted her head, watching her remain silent.
Qiao Gaogao’s doll-like face was filled with a profound expression, and she spoke in an intentionally deep tone: “Senior, it’s highly likely that you are a high-level zombie.”
After all, from what they knew so far, the smarter the zombie, the more powerful they were. For someone like Senior, who retained human consciousness and intelligence, she must be incredibly formidable!
Hmm… As for why she still seemed so weak now, that was a question worth further investigation.
Hearing her words, Yinxi blinked without much reaction. She had never felt she resembled those ordinary zombies in the first place.
Looking at her senior, especially at her confused and dazed expression, Qiao Gaogao let out a long sigh inwardly.
Although Senior was among the more powerful zombies, she didn’t seem threatening at all.
Moving on to the next question: “Can zombies also evolve supernatural abilities?”
This was a serious issue. Was Senior unique, or could all zombies evolve supernatural abilities? If zombies could develop abilities, it would be a devastating blow to humanity!
Zombies were already evolving rapidly. Adding supernatural abilities to the mix, how could humans possibly fight back?
“Roar roar?” Maybe they could?
After all, she herself had already developed an ability.
Yinxi found it strange that such an obvious fact was right in front of them, yet Qiao Gaogao still asked that question.
Qiao Gaogao gasped sharply.
Oh my, that would be terrifying.
Especially since they had encountered a zombie capable of psychic attacks earlier that day.
Qiao Gaogao looked at Yinxi with fervent hope. If Senior could control more zombies, perhaps humans and zombies could coexist without interfering with each other?
Under such an intense gaze, Yinxi suddenly felt a chill. Was Qiao Gaogao scheming something?
However, they soon dropped the topic. Regarding the secrets of Yinxi’s body, Qiao Gaogao decided to observe more closely in the future to understand why she differed from other zombies.
Noticing it was getting late, Qiao Gaogao suggested, “Shall we go take a bath?”
“Roar!” I can bathe myself now!
Seeing her proud and aloof little expression, Qiao Gaogao’s eyes drooped, and she spoke in an extremely pitiful tone: “Senior, are you going to imitate that blind person?”
Huh?
Yinxi tilted her head, not understanding what she meant.
“The first thing a blind person does after regaining their sight is throw away their cane!” Qiao Gaogao accused her with feigned grievance!
Yinxi widened her eyes in disbelief. Was Qiao Gaogao blaming her for abandoning her?!
Seeing her senior’s shocked expression, Qiao Gaogao smiled sheepishly. “Senior, you wouldn’t be that kind of person, right?”
Yinxi was bewildered.
Would she not be that kind of person?
“Senior not answering means yes!” Qiao Gaogao giggled and stepped forward to hug her, pulling her toward the bathroom.
Yinxi fell silent.
As usual, after washing both of them clean, Qiao Gaogao put on her pajamas and returned to bed. She nuzzled against Yinxi’s neck and asked curiously, “Senior, how big is your space?”
“Roar!”
Qiao Gaogao widened her eyes. “That big!”
“Hmph!” Yinxi snorted proudly.
Qiao Gaogao couldn’t resist her cuteness and leaned in to give her a kiss. She learned that Yinxi’s space was as large as two football fields. If they stored supplies in there, no one could ever take them away!
She wondered if Yinxi’s spatial ability had any offensive capabilities besides just having a storage space. If it could be used for attacks, it would make her even safer.
Qiao Gaogao thought to herself that it would be best not to let too many people know about Yinxi’s ability, or else someone might covet it.
Gradually, Qiao Gaogao fell into a deep sleep. Yinxi, held in her arms, lay awake, staring blankly at the ceiling and pouting.
She still couldn’t sleep.
After drinking so much of Gaogao’s blood, Yinxi could clearly feel that her senses had become much sharper than before.
This was just as well, she could keep watch for Gaogao without needing to sleep.
But the long night was so boring.
The next morning, when Qiao Gaogao woke up, sunlight had already crept in through the window. She stretched lazily and turned to look at Yinxi, her eyes instantly crinkling into a smile.
“Good morning!”
“Roar, roar!”
Their day began with mutual greetings.
After getting up and washing, as Qiao Gaogao was about to prepare breakfast, Yinxi tugged at her sleeve and roared to indicate she wasn’t hungry.
“Huh?” Qiao Gaogao was stunned. Was the effect of her blood really that strong? Drinking it meant Yinxi didn’t need to eat anymore.
Ignoring her surprise, Yinxi took advantage of the time Gaogao was making breakfast to wander around the small convenience store at the gas station. She collected everything she deemed useful into her space. With each item stored, she could already imagine herself sitting on a fortune in the future!
Would she become the wealthiest zombie ever?
This was truly a grand goal that made any zombie’s eyes gleam!
By the time Qiao Gaogao finished breakfast, she discovered that almost everything in the small store had been cleared out.
“In that case, let’s take some gasoline too!” Qiao Gaogao immediately went to find the gas station’s specialized fuel cans. She filled every single one before finally stopping.
Before getting into the car to leave, Qiao Gaogao glanced back toward the convenience store. She didn’t know what choice the boy had made, but she couldn’t bring herself to take him along.
However, shortly after starting the car, Qiao Gaogao noticed something unusual. Her expression tightened, and she stopped the car to investigate.
Seeing her like this, Yinxi grew curious too. After getting out of the car, she saw Gaogao crouching down and peering under the vehicle.
“Roar?”
“Come out,” Qiao Gaogao said coldly, her face grim.
To adapt to various road conditions, she had chosen a vehicle with high ground clearance. But she never expected this feature would be exploited by someone.
Yinxi was startled by Gaogao’s tone; it was rare to hear her speak so sternly. But before long, as she watched the boy crawl out from under the car, Yinxi understood why Gaogao was being so severe.
The boy emerged timidly, his eyes brimming with unshed tears, looking utterly pitiful.
Qiao Gaogao exclaimed, “Do you have any idea how dangerous that was?”
Although the car had high clearance and the boy was slender, clinging to the undercarriage was incredibly risky. If he lost his grip while the car was speeding, the consequences could be disastrous!
“I… I just wanted to follow you,” the boy mumbled, twisting the hem of his shirt.
Gaogao took a deep breath. “I told you, we can’t take you with us. Don’t you understand?”
The boy fell silent again, but his stubborn expression made it clear he still intended to follow them.
Gaogao sighed inwardly. She never should have knocked on that convenience store door, it had only brought her trouble.
Yinxi watched the scene unfold, unsure of how to handle it. She wasn’t good with children, especially boys, and usually kept her distance.
“Get in the car, senior!” Gaogao said, growing impatient with the boy’s silence. If he wouldn’t listen to reason, there was no point in arguing further.
Who did he think he was, assuming she would take responsibility for him?
Noting Gaogao’s expression, Yinxi hesitated for a moment before silently getting into the car.
Once Yinxi was inside, Gaogao turned to the boy and said quietly, “In this world, survival depends on yourself. Relying on others is the least reliable option especially don’t rely on me.”
Without waiting for his reaction, she hurried into the car, slammed the door shut, and sped off.
As the figure in the rearview mirror grew smaller, Gaogao averted her gaze. She wasn’t a particularly compassionate person; she only cared about those who mattered to her. As for everyone else, it depended on her mood.
If society were still orderly, she might have considered calling the police for the boy. But in these circumstances, he couldn’t blame her for leaving him to his fate.
