Seduced Me into a Deep Fall - Chapter 69
The wedding went smoothly.
Qi Zhen drank too much at the reception, stumbling around and insisting on playing games with Ling Xi.
Ling Xi helped her back to the car, recognizing the game as one she had loved as a child.
“Your mom is really sweet,” Song Yi remarked as she and Ling Xi supported Qi Zhen on either side.
Just like how Ling Xi addressed Song Yi.
Back then, Jiang Yuyang had envied Ling Xi so much.
“Of course. Whatever makes our little one happy.” From today onward, that “little one” was no longer just a disguise for hidden emotions.
A few days later, during a family dinner, Lingyue brought up the topic with Ling Xi.
“So you two are finally together,” Ling Xi said, sounding completely unsurprised.
“If she hadn’t confessed soon, I would’ve done it for her,” Ling Xi even clicked her tongue.
“What do you mean?” Lingyue was stunned.
She had assumed Jiang Yuyang, like her, had only gradually fallen for her after they started living together.
But looking back, she had only asked Lingyue to recommend a suitable streaming partner.
Without hesitation, Ling Xi had introduced Jiang Yuyang.
Yet Jiang Yuyang was so busy with her studies, how was that suitable?
“So you knew she liked me all along?” Lingyue was almost ready to disown her own sister.
Song Yi was barred from their monthly family gathering. With no one to shield her, Ling Xi could only hide behind Qi Zhen.
But Qi Zhen already had a new favorite, not to mention Lingyue finally having a girlfriend was cause for celebration.
Qi Zhen grabbed Ling Xi’s arm and pushed her toward Lingyue.
“You knew and didn’t tell me!” Lingyue fumed.
“How was I supposed to know you liked her? If you didn’t, wouldn’t telling you just make things awkward?” Ling Xi covered her head and bolted when Lingyue wasn’t looking.
Lingyue was momentarily speechless.
“Alright, my two treasures,” Ling Jingqiu stepped in to mediate.
“She adores kids, she’ll be a great mom,” Ling Xi chuckled.
“We will be too, someday,” Song Yi murmured, gently closing the car door before heading back inside with Ling Xi to fetch Ling Jingqiu.
“Remember that dream I told you about? Our home will have us, our moms, our sister… and two adorable daughters.”
“Then my mom will get promoted to doting grandma,” Ling Xi linked arms with Song Yi.
After the ceremony, they had changed out of their cumbersome formal wear into casual outfits otherwise, they wouldn’t have lasted this long.
Their rings gleamed under the distant lights, reflecting each other’s glow.
“She’ll be thrilled,” Ling Xi mused about their future children, excitement bubbling up. “Might even spoil them rotten and find me annoying.”
Ling Xi figured Qi Zhen doted less on Lingyue because she was the eldest, while she herself was the second child practically a generation apart.
After seeing both families home, Ling Xi looped her arms around Song Yi’s neck.
“When do we start trying for a baby?” Her hair brushed against Song Yi’s collarbone, and Song Yi tucked a loose strand behind her ear.
“Right now,” Song Yi replied simply before kissing Ling Xi’s lips.
“For now, she can’t eat solid food yet, but small amounts of liquids are fine. Most of her nutrients will come from IV fluids.”
After giving his instructions, the doctor deliberately repeated them. “Just a little. A sip or two at most. Absolutely no more, or her body won’t be able to handle it.”
Song Yi nodded in understanding.
“I’ll go buy you some congee…” She was about to leave when Ling Xi weakly tugged at the corner of her shirt again.
“Jiejie.” Ling Xi’s grip was loose, lacking strength.
Yet her eyes were filled with reluctance.
Early July, Ling Xi was at home, fussing over her outfit.
Before Song Yi closed the calendar, Ling Xi caught a glimpse of it.
Her eyes nearly blurred from the sheer number of tasks crammed onto the page.
“Jiejie, you look so busy…” Ling Xi swayed dizzily before collapsing into Song Yi’s arms.
“Not really. Most of it is just meetings and decision-making. This year, there’s an extra task, training my own people. Once they’re ready, things will be easier for me.”
Song Yi adjusted Ling Xi in her embrace.
“It’s a family business. Even if I sit in the chairman’s seat, the collateral branches won’t let me hold too much power. In other words, there won’t be too much work, and I’ll have people to delegate to.”
“That’s good.” Ling Xi nestled against her in relief.
“If you’re tired, I can massage your shoulders for you.”
“What a thoughtful little girlfriend.” Song Yi guided Ling Xi’s hands to her shoulders. “Still got the strength?”
Ling Xi fell silent.
“I’m still too weak.” She was on the verge of tears, both embarrassed and frustrated, and ended up biting Song Yi’s shoulder lightly.
“So this is a mouth massage, huh?” Song Yi cupped Ling Xi’s head, gently stroking her hair.
The fragrance of the girl’s shampoo drifted into Song Yi’s nose, bringing a soothing drowsiness.
But then, a sharp sting came from her shoulder again.
“Mmm! I’ll definitely go to university in Beijing too. When the time comes, you can pick me up and drop me off, okay?”
Ling Xi glanced back at Song Yi.
“You should go back and eat.” Song Yi said softly.
Ling Xi then turned to Qi Zhen and said, “Then I’ll trouble you, Mom. I’ll send you the address right away.”
“Xibao, is there someone else with you?” Qi Zhen’s sharp ears caught a voice that didn’t belong to her daughter.
“Uh, yeah.” Ling Xi hadn’t figured out how to explain Song Yi to her family yet, so she could only agree vaguely.
“Your sister said you dressed up specially to go out today. Did you have a date with someone?” The moment the topic shifted to her daughter’s love life, Qi Zhen’s tone changed instantly.
“Mom! I’ll tell you when I get back!” Ling Xi hung up, her eyes flickering toward Song Yi.
Song Yi had heard everything clearly.
“You dressed up just to see me?” She pulled Ling Xi into her arms, now absolutely certain that Ling Xi had indeed mixed up their meeting time.
It was only then that she noticed how thickly Ling Xi had powdered her face.
“Mmm…” Ling Xi fiddled with the necklace around her neck. “Since it was you, I just…”
“Did you like me even last year, then?” Song Yi traced the necklace with her fingers.
“Next time, wear one I buy for you, okay?”
Then she parted her lips slightly, making it easier for Ling Xi to inspect.
But as Ling Xi leaned in, Song Yi flicked her tongue over her own Cupid’s bow.
Ling Xi didn’t realize this was a teasing gesture.
Yet her heartstrings were unmistakably plucked, trembling violently.
Her head grew hot with an indescribable impulse.
At least for now, she wanted to kiss Song Yi properly just like in the movies.
Even if she wasn’t very good at it yet.
When she leaned in even closer, Song Yi suddenly tilted her head forward.
She tapped Ling Xi lightly between the brows.
With their lips.
They kissed fiercely, Song Yi being pressed back relentlessly by Ling Xi until she finally fell onto the bed.
“Now?” Ling Xi asked before they began.
Her fingers brushed over Song Yi’s scent gland.
Song Yi lifted her gaze, signaling her to continue. “Honeymoon phase—perfect for conceiving.”
“I’ve already planned it out. I’ll handle company matters for the first three months, then spend the next six resting at home.”
As Ling Xi worked, Song Yi whispered their future arrangements in her ear.
“My mother’s affairs, Mom said she’d help look into them. The postpartum nanny will also be arranged from their side.”
“So, we can start now.” Song Yi swept the hair behind her ear.
She turned slightly, exposing her scent gland.
Making it easier for Ling Xi to bite.
Ling Xi leaned down. “We’ll go over the plans again on the plane tomorrow.”
“But tonight… your time is mine.” No one, nothing, not even their future, not even their child would be allowed to interfere.
Tonight, Ling Xi wanted only Song Yi.
She kissed Song Yi’s forehead, earlobes, even the hair at her temples, over and over.
Her fingertips wandered behind Song Yi’s ear, teasing along her neck—
Yet deliberately avoiding her scent gland.
Song Yi writhed in frustration, even letting out a pleading whimper.
Only then did Ling Xi tap her lips, letting her fingertips substitute for a kiss before finally sinking her teeth into that swollen ridge at the nape of her neck.
“You’re releasing pheromones again. Naughty.” Ling Xi tasted the sweetness of bergamot and, as punishment, licked Song Yi’s gland once.
“It’s your fault!” Song Yi dug her fingers into Ling Xi’s shoulders.
After being together for so long, Ling Xi had mastered many things through sheer instinct.
Now, her repertoire occasionally left Song Yi overwhelmed yet hopelessly addicted.
“I just kissed it. It’s turned so red.” Ling Xi nuzzled closer, inhaling deeply. “And so sweet.”
“My sweet little thing—” This was no sweet little thing. This was a devil in disguise.
Song Yi trembled, tears welling in her eyes, unsure how to make Ling Xi give her what she craved.
“Don’t you, don’t you want to bite me?” She could only tense her body amidst the unbearable sensations and force out something bold.
“I do. But you’ve been naughty, letting your pheromones run wild. What should we do about that?” Ling Xi continued to tease her.
She denied nothing, constantly caressing Song Yi’s lips and the base of her ears.
Yet never truly giving in.
“Shouldn’t that warrant, more punishment?” Song Yi almost turned around to face Ling Xi.
If Ling Xi saw her tearful eyes, she’d surely lose control.
But Ling Xi saw through her and held her down, refusing to let her turn.
“Isn’t this punishment enough?” Ling Xi blew lightly on the flushed gland. “Do you like it, sister?”
Song Yi’s only reply was a tear trailing down with a shaky exhale.
Only when Ling Xi had driven Song Yi to the brink—to the point where she wanted to bite back—did she finally grant her the mark.
The deepest mark she could give—one strong enough to shatter all defenses and restraints, a permanent bond between mates.
Song Yi’s nails raked down Ling Xi’s back, leaving trails of love in their wake.
The honeymoon phase was indeed the most fertile time.
Halfway through their trip, on an island in Europe, Song Yi suddenly frowned while eating lamb chops.
“What’s wrong?” Ling Xi cupped her face.
“I feel, a bit unwell.” Song Yi set down her cutlery and leaned against her.
“Was it the food? Or did you catch a chill this morning?” Ling Xi checked Song Yi’s temperature no fever.
“Nauseous.” Song Yi closed her eyes. “I need to rest.”
“Let’s try another place.” Ling Xi packed up the food and accompanied Song Yi in search of a Chinese restaurant.
Song Yi shook her head at the smell of food. “I don’t feel like eating. Sweetheart, you go ahead and have dinner. I’ll skip it.”
Ling Xi was worried but didn’t know what to do. “Should we go to the hospital?”
But as everyone knows, hospitals abroad often have wait times of four to five hours.
“Probably not necessary.” Song Yi looked listless. “I don’t want to go to the hospital. Let’s just head back to the hotel, okay?”
“But…”
Meeting Song Yi’s pleading gaze, Ling Xi had no choice but to agree.
She’d lost her appetite too. After settling Song Yi into bed, she lay down beside her.
“Feeling any better?” Ling Xi gently wiped the sweat from Song Yi’s forehead.
“Much better. Sweetheart, I think it might be…” Song Yi still seemed uncertain.
“Could you buy a test for me?” They’d been marking frequently and deeply lately, wasn’t conceiving exactly what they’d been hoping for?
Ling Xi froze for a second upon hearing this, then grew even more anxious.
“I-I’ll go right now! Sister, you rest well. Call me if you need anything!” Ling Xi practically flew out the door.
“Be careful!” Song Yi exhaled deeply.
Half an hour later, Song Yi had completed the test.
Two clear lines.
The two soon-to-be mothers were momentarily stunned, lying in each other’s arms in a daze.
“Sister…” Ling Xi finally broke the silence.
“I’m happy.” She kissed Song Yi’s cheek.
“But also heartbroken.” It had only been a few days since conception, and Song Yi already couldn’t eat.
What would they do going forward?
“It’s fine. I’ll adjust.” Song Yi seemed unfazed.
She only felt a strange, indescribable sensation not exactly joyous, but not unpleasant either, mixed with an odd nervousness.
“You’ve already booked the anesthesiologist, arranged for painless delivery, and postnatal recovery. Don’t worry.” Moments later, Song Yi was even comforting Ling Xi.
Ling Xi only realized she was crying when she wiped her face.
“I just… can’t bear to see you suffer. Let me carry the second child.” She could bear children too, she couldn’t let the person she loved most endure this pain twice.
“I was going to talk you out of it.” Song Yi snuggled closer. “But on second thought, that works. I’ll take good care of you when the time comes.”
Ling Xi finally smiled. “Deal. Now let me take care of you. I bought some groceries, would you like to eat?”
Hearing Ling Xi would cook, Song Yi’s eyes lit up.
“I’ll start cooking then. Sister, wait for me in the living room.”
Perhaps their daughter was being considerate, as Song Yi didn’t experience severe morning sickness afterward.
The two managed to enjoy the rest of their honeymoon.
By the time they returned home, Song Yi’s previously flat stomach showed a slight bulge.
Except for essential meetings, Ling Xi shifted all her work online.
Even during Song Yi’s busy first trimester at the company, Ling Xi accompanied her throughout.
In the latter half of the pregnancy, the couple spent their days sunbathing and gardening in their yard.
At home, they occasionally livestreamed, watched dramas or movies.
They also frequently visited Ling Jingqiu and Qi Zhen.
Life was utterly blissful.
Apart from some initial discomfort, Song Yi’s entire pregnancy proceeded without complications.
Other than her growing belly, Song Yi hardly felt pregnant at all.
“Have you picked a name yet?” The night before her due date, Song Yi lay in Ling Xi’s arms and asked.
“Single character ‘Zhan’. Meaning deep blue, exquisite. What do you think?” Ling Xi pulled out the list of names she’d prepared earlier.
“Or ‘Cheng’. Meaning crystal clear.”
“You came up with so many?” Song Yi glanced at the list all single-character names.
It made sense. Both of them had single-character names, so continuing this tradition for their child felt natural.
“Let’s go with Cheng. ‘Song Zhan’ sounds a bit odd.” After some consideration, Song Yi made the decision for Ling Xi.
“Alright.” Ling Xi squeezed her hand.
“Get some rest, love.” She was incredibly nervous.
“It’s fine. We’re already at the hospital. Even if she comes early, we’re prepared.”
Song Yi pinched her easily-flustered sweetheart’s cheek.
Little Song Cheng proved obedient too, waiting until exactly 8 a.m. when Song Yi woke up before making her entrance.
Ling Xi remained by Song Yi’s side throughout the entire delivery.
She’d called their families earlier.
Song Yi’s mother had only regained consciousness two months prior and still couldn’t move freely, so they’d wait until after the birth to tell her.
Soon enough, Ling Jingqiu and Qi Zhen arrived with the maternity nurse.
When the baby was born, the elders all gathered to coo at the wrinkly little monkey that was Song Cheng, while Ling Xi stayed with Song Yi.
“Aren’t you going to see her?” Song Yi asked, her forehead damp with sweat.
“Are you in pain?” Now that their daughter was safely delivered, Ling Xi didn’t feel the need to rush being first to hold her.
Her wife who’d carried their child for months mattered more.
“Not really.” The delivery had gone smoothly. With the epidural, Song Yi barely felt anything.
“That’s good.” Ling Xi gently wiped the sweat from Song Yi’s brow.
“Love…” When Song Yi stroked her hair, Ling Xi’s eyes still held traces of tears.
“I told you I’m fine, why are you crying?” Song Yi ran her fingers through Ling Xi’s hair.
“Sweetheart, could you at least bring Chengcheng over for me to see?”
“Mm, I’ll go now.” Ling Xi kissed Song Yi’s hand before going to retrieve their daughter from the circle of doting grandmothers.
“See? Not much to look at yet, right?” Ling Xi chuckled at the still-wrinkled newborn face, teasing that she was ugly.
Looking at their daughter’s red little face, Song Yi couldn’t help but laugh too.
“She’s still quite cute.” This was her daughter. The fruit of her and Ling Xi’s love.
“Of course. She’s ours.” Ling Xi handed the baby back to the maternity nurse and smiled at Song Yi.
From today onward, they were a family of three.
Five years later, their family of three became four.
When little Song Cheng turned four, her sister Ling Xiu was born.
“Why is sister so ugly?” Song Cheng, still in kindergarten but already studying elementary curriculum thanks to Song Yi’s early education focus, asked.
“You looked just as ugly when you were born.” Song Yi patted her head. “Go check on your mama.”
She’d accompanied Ling Xi throughout this pregnancy and delivery too.
By now Ling Xi had rested enough to confirm everything was fine, so Song Yi came out to take their daughter from her grandmother’s arms.
Qi Zhen was reluctant to let go, utterly smitten with her granddaughter just as Ling Xi had predicted, she’d forgotten about her own daughter entirely.
“Little Chengcheng, want to get snacks with grandma?” She tried to keep at least one child with her.
“Later, Grandma Qi! Mama just gave birth and must be tired. Chengcheng needs to stay with her!” Unfortunately for Qi Zhen, Song Cheng refused.
“Mommy, mommy, you’ve worked so hard.” Song Cheng came running into the room with quick little steps.
Ling Xi smiled at her. “What a well-behaved baby. Whose child is this?”
“Yours, mommy, mommy! When will little sister become as pretty as me?” Song Cheng clung to Ling Xi’s arm.
According to Song Yi’s observations, Song Cheng had inherited Ling Xi’s personality, she was a bright and cheerful little girl.
“Just wait another ten days or so. Once your sister drinks enough milk, she’ll grow plump and fair, just like you.”
After saying this, Ling Xi glanced at her wife, who had followed them in, still cradling Ling Xiu in her arms and refusing to let go.
Their second daughter was quiet—she had only cried once at birth to prove her vocal cords worked, and now she was silent, like a little doll.
“The child takes after you.” Ling Xi could say this with certainty.
According to Qi Zhen, she had indeed been just like Song Cheng as a child noisy and lively.
She would fuss when full and cry when hungry.
“That’s good. I just wonder who she’ll look like.” Song Yi held the baby up to Ling Xi.
“We’ll know next year. Time flies, it’s already been over five years since we got married.”
“And I’m four years old now,” Song Cheng chimed in.
“Yes, our eldest is already four.” Ling Xi sighed with emotion.
She had now reached the age Song Yi had been when they married.
The happy life of their family of four would continue like this.
After Ling Xiu’s first birthday celebration, Song Yi packed up a video recording and sent it to the prison.
Inside the prison, Mu Xie, now emaciated to the bone, twitched her lips when she saw the familiar guard approach.
Five years. Every year, she received a “gift.”
Of course, it was never anything good. The only person in the world who might have cared about her was locked away in the same endless darkness. The one person she had truly cared for had long forgotten her.
The one sending these things was naturally someone who hated her to the core but refused to let her escape so easily.
The guard stepped aside and projected the video onto the wall.
“The sender said you must watch it all. You already know the drill, it’s been the same for years.”
“Hah.” Mu Xie didn’t even bother resisting. She knew the consequences of not finishing.
What she didn’t understand was why Ling Xi had forgotten her so easily.
She watched as Ling Xi and Song Yi enjoyed their blissful honeymoon, then welcomed a daughter. She saw how their happy little family was built.
Mu Xie was tormented, losing all appetite, only to be doused with slop by the guards again and again.
By now, Mu Xie couldn’t even muster hatred anymore.
She was exhausted, numb, and the thought of enduring decades more of this torture left her so depressed she wished for death.
Watching the clips Song Yi sent was the only time each year when her emotions stirred at all.
And every time she watched, Mu Xie suffered unbearably, clawing at her arms until they bled.
But she still had to see it through.
What could be more painful than being forced to watch the person you once loved living a happier new life without you?
Song Yi truly despised her. Once again, Mu Xie shed tears of blood.
And the one Mu Xie had loved, hated, and eventually come to understand—the one she had let go of all feelings for—
Would continue to live happily with Song Yi and their family under the sun.
Only Mu Xie remained, drifting through each day in a daze, wasting away in this cramped prison cell until death.
“Who are you sending a package to?” Ling Xi pushed the stroller, with Song Cheng trailing behind, as she went to greet Song Yi returning home.
“Someone unimportant.” Song Yi took the shopping cart from her hand and held her hand instead.
The family slowly walked into the morning sun.
