Seduced By My Omega Stepsister - Chapter 28
“I’ll go for you.”
The broadcasting station began urging the 1,000 meter contestants to head to the starting line for warm-ups. Fu Zhou glanced at Zhang Meng, who was lying on a stretcher hooked up to an IV drip, and stood up, preparing to leave.
The girl beside her, who had been silent until now, grabbed her hand, her fingers sliding into the gaps between Fu Zhou’s.
Their fingers intertwined; Fu Zhou’s heartbeat skipped a half-beat following the movement.
“Fu Zhou, I’ll go for you.” The girl’s tone was gentle yet firm. Despite her soft voice, there was a strange, undeniable authority to it.
Avoiding Chu Xiyu’s eyes, Fu Zhou instinctively refused: “I can run. I took first in the 3,000 meters! Chu Xiyu, a mere kilometer is nothing to me.”
“Don’t be cheeky,” Chu Xiyu said, looking up at Fu Zhou with a soft gaze. “Stay here and look after your friend.”
“No, I want to run it myself. I want double gold.”
“I’ll get the gold for you.”
Fu Zhou opened her mouth to argue further, but the scent of Omega pheromones suddenly pressed down. Her legs went weak for a moment, and she had to lean against the wall to stay upright.
She widened her puppy-like eyes, looking at Chu Xiyu in disbelief.
“You’re using pheromones to suppress me?!”
Chu Xiyu’s lips curled into a faint smile. Wrapped in the scent of roses, she leaned close to Fu Zhou, whispering in a voice only the two of them could hear: “You were the one who bit me. You have to take responsibility.”
The first heat of the women’s 1,000 meters was already halfway through, Chu Xiyu was in the second heat.
Fu Zhou sat at the head of Zhang Meng’s bed, rubbing her still-numb legs.
It was no wonder people said Alphas and Omegas were natural pairs, one dominated the bedroom, while the other dominated life.
As the starting gun for the second heat was about to fire, Fu Zhou stood at the finish line, limping slightly. There, in the spot that should have been hers, she saw Chu Xiyu wearing the blue jersey with the number five.
The girl stood tall and slender. It seemed even the sunlight favored her, draping her in ten thousand golden rays.
Standing at the far end of the field, Fu Zhou watched as the girl stayed steadily in her line of sight, running third in the long line. By the end of the first lap, a faint flush colored Chu Xiyu’s face, her rose-scented pheromones rising and falling with her breath.
At the end of the second lap, she suddenly veered to the outside lane and overtook the two runners ahead of her at the turn.
Then, she began to accelerate, pulling away bit by bit.
Fu Zhou’s heart raced. She knew that accelerating a full lap early to widen the gap was exhausting and physically taxing. She also knew Chu Xiyu was doing it because she had promised to bring back the first-place trophy for her.
But Fu Zhou…
Her own desire for first place had been entirely driven by a “peacocking” instinct, she wanted to show off in front of Chu Xiyu.
In the final fifty-meter sprint, Fu Zhou stepped forward, knees slightly bent. As the girl lunged toward her, Fu Zhou lowered her body to absorb the full weight of the impact.
Then, with one hand on Chu Xiyu’s back and the other hooked under her legs, she lifted her in a princess carry, looking down at her pale lips.
“Chu Xiyu, you’re first.”
Hearing Fu Zhou’s tender words, Chu Xiyu tiredly fluttered her eyes open. Her face was pale and fragile from the intense exertion and the strain of maintaining that high speed.
The Alpha’s jawline was tight, and her expression seemed neutral, but her lips were clearly quirked in a smile.
Chu Xiyu’s eyes crinkled. She buried her head in Fu Zhou’s chest, one hand gently tugging at the Alpha’s collar.
“Which little puppy is so prone to getting angry?”
She wasn’t surprised that an Alpha disliked being suppressed by an Omega, especially a newly differentiated top-tier Alpha. But in that moment, all she could think was that Fu Zhou had been drinking the night before, she couldn’t let her run two long distance races in a row.
Furthermore, she didn’t want the next person lying there with a pale face to be Fu Zhou.
She was confident she could coax her out of her mood.
However, Fu Zhou turned her head slightly, walking faster. “You haven’t trained. Why did you push yourself to such a high speed? What if you collapsed too?”
Chu Xiyu blinked in surprise, looking at the Alpha’s awkward profile. She suddenly pursed her lips and laughed softly. “I wouldn’t. Did you forget? I’m very capable.”
Fu Zhou remained silent. She couldn’t pinpoint the source of her irritation, it felt like a heavy stone was sitting on her chest, unmovable and suffocating.
Yet…
She hadn’t truly wanted to lose her temper with Chu Xiyu. She steadied her pace, trying not to look at the pale face of the girl in her arms.
“Aww, Fu Zhou,” Chu Xiyu’s voice grew softer and softer.
“Fu-puppy?”
“Most handsome Alpha, please talk to me.”
The tips of Fu Zhou’s ears turned red, worn down by that soft, waxy tone laced with heavy coquettishness. She looked down at Chu Xiyu.
“What?”
“Stop being angry, okay?”
“Fine.”
There were many onlookers, but no one approached; they simply watched from a distance.
A candid photo was quickly uploaded to the school’s online forum, and within seconds, the thread reached over a hundred replies.
In the photo, the tall, lean Alpha was carrying the exhausted Omega in her arms. Her school jacket was pushed up, revealing a pale forearm. She was looking down at the person in her arms despite the blurry quality, those puppy-like eyes were strikingly bright.
Back at the tent, Zhang Meng was sitting up, hand still connected to the IV, holding a half-eaten biscuit with her free hand.
Zhou Heyu sat on a nearby chair, watching Fu Zhou carry Chu Xiyu back. Her eyes were glued to her phone, scrolling through the exploding forum.
“Fu Zhou, you two are famous.”
Fu Zhou looked over, confused. “Which ‘two’?”
“You and… your sister. Someone took a photo of you two and posted it on the forum. Just you wait, the teachers are going to call your parents.”
Still holding Chu Xiyu, Fu Zhou sat down, letting the girl nestle in her lap. She reached out one hand to take the phone from Zhou Heyu.
From her spot in the Alpha’s arms, Chu Xiyu peeked out with two eyes at the scrolling content.
“Whoa, are they dating? Since when?” “You have to admit, they’re eye candy. Both are so good-looking.” “I’ve seen that Omega before. She seems like the type every Alpha likes, so beautiful and gentle.” “Forget Alphas, even Omegas and regular girls would like someone like her.”
The rest were a mix of skepticism, heartbreak, and trolls tagging the Dean.
Fu Zhou locked the phone, her gaze meeting the girl’s in her arms for a split second.
“Fu Zhou, I want some water.”
“Okay.”
Fu Zhou placed Chu Xiyu on a chair and went to fetch a cup of sugar water for her.
The girl sat there quietly, her face still pale, taking small sips of the water.
“It’s totally normal for girls to be touchy feely and hug each other. Fu Zhou hugged Qi Wen last year, and nobody said anything then,” Zhou Heyu remarked.
Chu Xiyu looked up and gave Zhou Heyu a fleeting glance. The latter immediately shut her mouth, smiling guiltily. “Uh, well, Qi Wen is our classmate. Fu Zhou is just warm-hearted, she usually wants to help everyone.”
Chu Xiyu’s eyes curved into a smile. “Mhm.”
She knew Qi Wen.
The girl Fu Zhou had given coffee to.
Back by the hotpot restaurant when Fu Zhou was differentiating, she had seen that girl hovering at the entrance of the alley, looking anxious to enter. But the moment she saw Chu Xiyu, the girl had retracted her step.
When their eyes met, she had seen a flicker of fear in the girl’s eyes, along with a damp, heavy pain she didn’t quite understand.
Her intuition told her that Fu Zhou held a unique significance for that girl.
Chu Xiyu lowered her gaze, her eyes obscured by the cup as she drank.
To the side, Fu Zhou glanced at the Dean, who had already started checking his phone. “What’s there to fear? Even if they call parents, Chu Xiyu and I share the same one.”
“True. Now that you both are done with your races, where should we go play this afternoon?”
In previous years, as soon as their events were over, they wouldn’t stay at the sports field. They’d either take a formal leave or sneak over the wall. Regardless, they never stayed put.
With so many people at the sports meet, the deans and teachers couldn’t manage everyone.
“I’m not going out. I want to stay at the field,” Fu Zhou said without a second thought.
Zhang Meng gave Zhou Heyu a flat look.
You’ve got to be kidding. With Chu Xiyu here, how could Fu Zhou possibly leave?
Fu Zhou shifted her position, sitting at the head of Zhang Meng’s bed. She looked Zhang Meng up and down scrutinized her until the person on the bed turned her head away awkwardly.
“Zhang Meng, what’s the deal? Did your development not keep up with your differentiation? How do you faint during a 3,000 meter run?”
An Alpha running 3,000 meters should be comparable to a regular girl running 800 meters. Moreover, Zhang Meng’s rank wasn’t much different from hers, and she exercised regularly. She didn’t seem like the type to just pass out.
Fu Zhou reached out, gently tilting Zhang Meng’s chin to examine her face closely from side to side. “You seem to have gotten fairer. You look a bit prettier than before. Why didn’t I get fairer when I differentiated?”
Zhang Meng slapped Fu Zhou’s hand away and leaned back, her back almost touching the edge of the bed.
“Don’t touch me. You’re already quite fair for an Alpha.”
“Oh.”
Zhou Heyu was used to this. Fu Zhou loved to lean on, rub against, and hug her and Zhang Meng. However, Zhang Meng’s reaction was a bit odd, it looked like she was avoiding her. Zhou Heyu blinked, and before she could process it, a pair of hands wrapped around Fu Zhou’s waist, pulling her back.
“Fu Zhou, don’t disturb her rest.” She saw Fu Zhou’s sister, a flash of something unreadable crossed her eyes before being replaced by a gentle, soft smile as if that moment of displeasure had never existed.
What’s going on?
Zhou Heyu rubbed her eyes. Had she been studying too hard lately? Was she hallucinating?
“O-kay,” Fu Zhou dragged out the word. When she looked back, her eyes were full of mirth again.
“Chu Xiyu, do you have to be on duty tomorrow too?”
“I don’t have to.”
“Huh?”
Chu Xiyu didn’t answer directly. Instead, she stood up and turned her head. “If you don’t get it, forget it.”
The Alpha’s warm palm caught her fingers. “Then, Chu Xiyu, don’t go on duty. Stay with me tomorrow, okay?”
The girl didn’t turn around, but a very slight smile played on her lips.
“Okay.”
