Savage Kiss - Chapter 93
Shi Qing really liked Ma Xu’s restaurant and suggested going there. Xu Qingyi was treating, and even if Shi Qing wanted to feast like an emperor, she wouldn’t have objected.
Shi Qing hadn’t expected to run into Shen Yanzhou again.
He wasn’t ordering anything, just sitting there with his head down, fiddling with his phone.
Only when Shi Qing called the waiter did Shen Yanzhou look up.
Shi Qing smiled at him. “Care to join us?”
Shen Yanzhou’s expression turned cold as he averted his gaze.
Shi Qing: “…”
In Xu Qingyi’s eyes, Shi Qing’s invitation to Shen Yanzhou seemed like a provocation, so she tugged at his sleeve. “Don’t stir up trouble.”
Shi Qing raised an eyebrow and handed her the menu. “You order. I’m not picky.”
Having eaten with him a few times, Xu Qingyi had a rough idea of his preferences and didn’t hesitate. Since she was treating, she ordered several dishes.
The seaside restaurant catered to many tourists, and around this time, the number of customers gradually increased.
A table of men sat next to Xu Qingyi and Shi Qing. They looked like they had been drinking all night and had come for breakfast.
Suddenly, the men began whispering among themselves, occasionally glancing at her and laughing.
“She looks so much like her. Maybe it’s her?”
“No kidding, her hands are exactly the same, no manicure! Must be for her own convenience when she’s having fun!”
“Hahaha… shh!”
Xu Qingyi indeed didn’t do her nails. In some of those photos, her hands were visible, and coincidentally, her nails were clean and neatly trimmed.
“Hey, beautiful!” one of the men finally couldn’t resist striking up a conversation with Xu Qingyi. “Can I get your WeChat?”
Shi Qing turned to look at them. “Are you blind? Can’t you see she’s with her boyfriend?”
The group of men laughed in response.
Shi Qing, with his fair complexion and slim-fitting clothes, didn’t appear particularly intimidating.
One of the men stood up, swaying as he walked over and slung an arm around Shi Qing’s shoulder. “What’s the matter, little bro? Can’t get enough of her? Let us have a turn too. We wanna see if she’s as tender as in the photos…”
Before the man could finish, Shi Qing splashed a glass of water in his face. “Did you crawl out of a cesspit with your head stuck in it?”
The man wiped his face and slammed a liquor bottle against the edge of the table.
The others at the table stood up as well.
Shen Yanzhou had gotten up at some point and walked over. Just as the man was about to swing the broken bottle, Shen Yanzhou grabbed his wrist.
“Get out,” he said, tilting his chin.
The man, reeking of alcohol and red-faced, snarled, “None of your damn business! Get lost!”
Shen Yanzhou twisted the man’s arm, sending him stumbling backward.
Seeing their friend attacked, the rest of the table, fueled by alcohol, charged over.
The scene quickly descended into chaos.
Shi Qing quickly pulled Xu Qingyi aside, moving her out of harm’s way.
Ma Xu rushed out from the kitchen to break up the fight before things escalated further.
The commotion outside the restaurant lasted a few minutes before the sounds of overturned tables, chairs, and shattering dishes finally subsided.
Ma Xu dragged Shen Yanzhou back inside. The drunken men tried to follow, so he had to shut the door and call the police.
Shen Yanzhou took off his jacket and met Xu Qingyi’s gaze, a lazy smirk tugging at his lips.
“What? Gonna call me crude again?”
He scoffed, grabbed a tissue from the side, wiped the corner of his forehead, and shook the glass shards from his hair into the trash.
After a moment, Shen Yanzhou picked up his jacket and left, muttering, “I’ve always been a rough guy.”
That’s why, from the very beginning, he never stood a chance in her eyes.
Shi Qing had originally wanted to find an opportunity to speak with Shen Yanzhou, to ask if he could continue tracking down the person who leaked the information, but in the end, he just left like that.
He stayed with Xu Qingyi until evening before finally leaving.
When he went to the auto repair shop to pick up his car, it wasn’t fixed yet. The staff told him Shen Yanzhou wasn’t there, he had gone home.
Shi Qing had intended to talk with Shen Yanzhou again, but even the staff didn’t know where he lived.
He tried calling him, but no one answered.
…
As soon as Shen Yanzhou got home, he went completely silent.
Shen Yuqiao leaned against the headboard, looking at him coldly. “It seems like you’re quite disappointed that I didn’t die.”
Shen Yanzhou was already too tired to bother with him, knowing full well that this was how they would think.
He smiled casually. “You caught me. I’m just waiting for that day.”
“With your health deteriorating like this at just thirty, won’t I be able to take over in a few years?”
Shen Yuqiao sneered. “Being delusional is a talent in itself.”
Shen Jiashan had been busy at the company for the past few days and only rushed back after Shen Yuqiao returned to the country.
Seeing that he was fine didn’t improve his mood. “I told you long ago to improve your physical condition. How could something as minor as this cause a cerebral hemorrhage?”
Shen Yanzhou sat there, his brow furrowing slightly.
When he had a minor scrape on his hand earlier, Xu Qingyi’s first reaction was to ask if it hurt.
Shouldn’t a normal person, like her, first ask how the cerebral hemorrhage patient was feeling, instead of scolding him for not taking better care of his health?
Shen Yanzhou glanced at Shen Yuqiao.
Shen Yuqiao, as gentle as ever, said, “It’s my fault. I haven’t been exercising enough lately.”
Only then did Shen Jiashan ask, “How are you feeling now? Can you go to the company tomorrow?”
Shen Yuqiao, ever the workaholic, replied calmly, “No problem at all.”
Shen Yanzhou stood up, ready to leave.
Shen Jiashan stopped him. “What’s this? You don’t even care to have a meal at home anymore?”
Shen Yanzhou, already heading out with his hands in his pockets, said, “I’m afraid you’ll say I eat too much and make me pay it back. I can’t afford that.”
Shen Jiashan clenched his cup, his face dark. Always so irresponsible and idle!
He then looked at Shen Yuqiao. “See? If something happens to you and the company falls into his hands, how long do you think it would last?”
For a moment, Shen Yuqiao wanted to say that if he died, how long the company lasted would be the board of directors’ problem.
He had brushed with death himself, not even knowing how he had passed out. When he woke up, he was in the operating room.
The surgical preparations were already complete, but he had regained consciousness naturally.
The doctors ran another check and found that, fortunately, his bleeding wasn’t severe and had resolved on its own. As long as he took medication for a few days and rested properly, he would be fine. The surgery was ultimately canceled.
Shen Yuqiao’s first decision was to return to the country, the company couldn’t manage without him.
After a simple dinner, Teng Fei arrived.
Shen Yuqiao asked about the matter of Xu Qingyi’s photos. Teng Fei was momentarily stunned, clearly having forgotten all about it.
Shen Yuqiao frowned. “Get someone to handle it now.”
Teng Fei hurriedly took out his phone and stepped out to contact someone.
A few minutes later, he returned to the room. “Mr. Shen, they said the photos were taken down this morning. Miss Xu even had a lawyer send a legal notice.”
Teng Fei pulled up the legal notice for him to see.
Shen Yuqiao instinctively asked, “Who helped her handle it?”
Last time it was Zhou Shengjing, but it couldn’t be him every time. Favors weren’t that easy to use up.
Teng Fei understood what President Shen meant, he wanted to see if the second young master was hiding his true abilities.
