Savage Kiss - Chapter 48
She worked part-time for four days. On the final day, as she was driving back to the coastal district, she suddenly received a call from her boss.
Xu Qingyi frowned, first found a place to pull over, and then answered the call.
“Hello?”
Apart from heavy breathing on the other end, there was no other sound.
Recalling what Shen Yaoyao had said to the boss that day, her mind automatically conjured up some decidedly adult imagery.
Why was he calling her at a time like this? Was this some kind of kink for him?
Though, she had to admit, the boss’s low groans weren’t as pleasing to the ear as Shen Yanzhou’s.
“Go ahead, I’ll hang up now,” she said, still offering a polite farewell to avoid giving him any reason to nitpick.
Then, she heard a faint voice from the other side: “Come here!”
Xu Qingyi hesitated for a moment, but the line went silent again. However, a location pin popped up in her messages.
“100,000!”
Those two words came through loud and clear. Without another thought, she immediately started the car and headed for the location.
Eventually, her car stopped in front of a villa, secluded and luxurious were her first impressions of the place.
The front door was open. As soon as Xu Qingyi stepped inside, she saw the man slumped on the floor, his head tilted back, eyes closed.
She checked his breathing.
He was alive, but barely.
Shen Yuqiao cracked his eyes open slightly. Every cell in his body felt weak, his entire body numb and limp, his fingers stiff. His voice was barely a whisper. “Food.”
Xu Qingyi was skeptical. Low blood sugar?
How could such a massive villa not have a single servant? If he only remembered to look for food when his blood sugar crashed, no wonder he couldn’t make it to the kitchen, the place was enormous.
In that moment, she realized there were some perks to being poor after all.
Xu Qingyi dug through her bag and pulled out a white chocolate bar, shoving it into his mouth.
Shen Yuqiao closed his eyes again, taking a moment to recover. Once he had regained some strength, he didn’t bother hiding his disgust. “Tastes awful.”
This was her favorite. When she was little, a neighbor’s child had given her half a bar. When she asked Huang Jiamei to buy her more, she got a beating instead and never had it again.
It had become something of an obsession. No matter how good other flavors were, she just couldn’t get used to them.
Xu Qingyi stood up. “I’ll be going now?”
A hand wrapped around her ankle.
The icy touch, serpent-like, nearly made her kick out on reflex.
“Help me up,” Shen Yuqiao commanded.
With great effort, Xu Qingyi hauled him onto the sofa.
Then, he asked, “Can you cook?”
Xu Qingyi wasn’t exactly thrilled. She had planned to go back and find Shen Yanzhou tonight.
He’d mentioned working the late shift today, maybe tonight would be the night she could finally sketch his body.
But then she glanced at the man on the sofa. “100,000?”
Shen Yuqiao looked at her. What kind of meal was worth 100,000?
Still, he pulled out his phone and actually transferred the money.
Xu Qingyi hadn’t really expected it to happen, but now that the payment had come through, she wasted no time getting to work.
It was too late to make anything elaborate, so she whipped up a bowl of scallion oil egg noodles, her specialty.
She brought it over to him. “Here, it’s not too hot.”
Shen Yuqiao glanced at it. It wasn’t much to look at, but the aroma was decent.
With reluctance, he took a bite, intending only to stave off the hunger. But once the food hit his tongue, his expression didn’t twist in disgust.
He looked at her again.
Took another bite.
“You can leave now,” he said, not even glancing at her, his tone back to its usual aloofness.
Xu Qingyi: “If this happens often, you should keep some candy on you.”
Actually, she really wanted to ask his name… or at least his surname.
But she decided against it.
She drove back to the coastal area.
It was past eight, and the night in the capital was enchanting.
The neon sign of the coastal auto repair shop was still lit. Xu Qingyi parked her car at the entrance, took out her phone, and opened Shen Yanzhou’s WeChat.
[You there?]
He replied almost instantly: [Come in.]
Xu Qingyi unbuckled her seatbelt and got out of the car. The shop seemed empty, eerily quiet. She pushed open the door to the back workshop and saw the light on in his room.
He was definitely doing this on purpose.
She walked to his door, which was only half-closed. Shen Yanzhou had just pulled his pants halfway up, his belt loosely hanging.
His hair was damp, and he hadn’t put on a shirt yet.
He was on the phone with someone, no wonder he had replied to her WeChat after a slight delay.
He glanced at her, signaling for her to take a seat.
Xu Qingyi didn’t stand on ceremony. She took off her coat and sat down on the only chair with a backrest in the room.
The chair was placed beside his small desk. Xu Qingyi sat on it backward, straddling it, resting her chin on the backrest as she watched him.
Shen Yanzhou’s gaze flicked to her, and his train of thought seemed to falter for a second. “Hmm…”
Then he looked away and continued his conversation as if nothing had happened.
Xu Qingyi smirked. She’d heard men had little resistance to chair play, seemed like it was true.
As Shen Yanzhou spoke, he walked over, discussing some inventory list with the person on the other end. He reached past her to pull open the desk drawer.
Xu Qingyi tilted her head up and, as he leaned down, lightly brushed her lips against his chin.
It could’ve been a kiss or just an accidental graze.
“You… sit,” she mouthed at him.
Then she stood up, offering him the chair so he could sit and review the list comfortably.
The call dragged on a bit, but Xu Qingyi wasn’t in a hurry. It was her first time seeing him at work.
Honestly, it was mesmerizing.
Unable to resist, she leaned in from behind him. With the chair back for support, she rested her chin on his shoulder, perfectly at ease.
Her hands grew restless. She wanted to touch his abs, starting with just a light poke of her fingertip.
Shen Yanzhou’s muscles tensed slightly as he spoke, the sensation so enticing that she couldn’t help pushing her luck.
He freed one hand from flipping through the inventory list to gently press hers down, a silent warning not to push it.
Xu Qingyi grinned. From her angle, the sight of his Adonis belt was enough to make her pulse race.
The moment she’d walked in, his half-fastened belt had already captured her attention. Seizing the opportunity, she mischievously took advantage of it, just a quick touch before pulling back with an innocent smile.
He must’ve been on a late shift tonight. The call was taking a while, and the stack of inventory sheets looked thick.
Xu Qingyi tired easily when she was out, and she was already feeling drowsy. She decided to head back and leave things for tomorrow.
But just as she grabbed her coat to leave, Shen Yanzhou abruptly stood up, the chair legs scraping loudly against the floor.
Xu Qingyi turned back to see him stride over in two steps, stopping her with a gesture toward his phone.
Almost done.
She smiled faintly, pressing her palms together and tilting her head to mimic a sleeping motion.
She really was tired.
A shower might help.
Shen Yanzhou took the opportunity to kiss her slightly tilted cheek, then said briskly into the phone, “As soon as possible.”
Without hesitation, he hung up, lifted her chin, and kissed her properly.
