Running Away While Pregnant with the Villain’s Child - Chapter 33
The very first moment she regained consciousness, Luo Xingran saw a thick sense of guilt and regret on her parents’ faces.
It was true; everything she had seen on the operating table was true.
Seeing their daughter wake up, Mother Luo and Father Luo hurriedly wiped away the tears at the corners of their eyes and looked at her with pleasant surprise.
“My precious daughter, you’re awake.” Mother Luo looked at her daughter’s pale face, her heart aching dully.
What had her daughter done wrong? Why did she have to endure so much pain?
“Mom, I’m fine.”
Luo Xingran’s face was deathly pale, with almost no trace of blood. Her voice was so weak that if the private room hadn’t been deathly quiet, it would have been impossible to hear what she was saying.
“Mom, did you see Pei Junzhuo?” Even though she had already guessed the answer for the most part, Luo Xingran still asked the question she wanted to ask most.
“Ranran, you need to rest well. After a while, Dad will take you to see her. You’re too weak right now.” Father Luo had an unnatural smile on his face as he pulled Mother Luo, who wanted to say something, out of the room.
Then, a caregiver walked in. Father Luo and Mother Luo simply didn’t know how to tell their daughter the truth of the matter.
“Ma’am, could you help me get my phone?” Luo Xingran held the phone and looked at the contacts, once again sensing the intent of the “World Consciousness.”
The contact list was full, yet her eyes could only see Li Dan’s number. When she looked at other numbers, they were not only blurry but impossible to dial.
He could go to such lengths, yet he still required her to marry Li Dan herself instead of directly manipulating her into the marriage.
This indicated that he was not omniscient or omnipotent.
“Auntie, Uncle, we are Luo Xingran’s classmates. We heard she was sick and wanted to come see her.” Two female voices came from the doorway.
Father Luo and Mother Luo did not want to let them in.
“Li Dan told us about it. Can we go in and see her?” After a gentle yet low female voice spoke, Father Luo and Mother Luo knit their brows tightly.
Li Dan? Who was that? On what grounds should they let them in?
But even as they thought this, the words that came out of Mother Luo’s mouth were: “Li Dan mentioned it, did he? He really is warm-hearted.”
“Yes, Li Dan is a good kid,” Father Luo added. Both of them were shocked by the words coming out of their own mouths.
It was as if someone were manipulating them to speak; their brows furrowed. Originally, the two intended to block the path of these two girls, but instead, they automatically made way for them.
Upon entering the ward, Luo Xingran saw Shen Yao and Tan Nuannuan.
“Did you recover your memories?” Shen Yao stepped forward first, a hint of sympathy appearing in her eyes as she saw Luo Xingran in this state.
“Don’t worry about that; she should be a key plot character now. But where is Pei Junzhuo? She should be another key character.” Tan Nuannuan didn’t like Shen Yao getting too close to Luo Xingran and pulled her directly behind herself.
The protective intent couldn’t have been stronger; the way Tan Nuannuan and Shen Yao interacted was exactly the dynamic in Luo Xingran’s memory.
“She’s dead.” When she said these words, Luo Xingran’s eyes were hollow and vacant, without a single spark of light.
In fact, she felt that as she spoke those words, her entire lungs were burning fiercely. A scorching heat originating from her soul almost burned her whole being to ash, leaving behind nothing but black residue.
Hearing this answer, both Shen Yao and Tan Nuannuan gasped.
On their way over, the two of them had considered a thousand possibilities, but this was the only one they hadn’t imagined.
“Why is it that out of the two of you, who are like the centers of the world, one of you could actually die?” Hearing this news, Tan Nuannuan’s entire mental state collapsed.
She had recovered her memories and knew that the person she loved was Shen Yao. If this world continued as it was, she and Shen Yao could never be together.
They could only become mere ornaments in Li Dan’s harem. Just thinking about it made Tan Nuannuan feel disgusted.
The old Tan Nuannuan thought she was an unscrupulous person. No matter what, she would just climb upward.
No person and no event would serve as a reason to hinder her.
Until she met Shen Yao, and until she saw the true nature of this world. No matter how filthy and unbearable this world was, she hoped Shen Yao could remain like a bright, clear moon hanging in the sky.
How ridiculous; she once scorned all the love in this world.
And yet at this moment, she was in agony because of the very love she once most despised.
“Kill him. Kill Li Dan. As long as you do that, you won’t be bound by these restrictions.” Tan Nuannuan gripped her phone, the veins on the back of her hand standing out clearly.
“Do you want to go to prison?” Shen Yao looked at Tan Nuannuan disapprovingly. She stood up from the chair and pulled the girl into her arms, gently patting her back.
Initially, Tan Nuannuan struggled, but after a moment, she gave up. She didn’t want to hurt Shen Yao.
“I don’t want you to live that kind of life.” Tan Nuannuan’s voice was muffled. She wasn’t exceptionally brilliant, but she wasn’t stupid either.
If things continued according to this trend, Shen Yao and the Shen family would surely be sucked dry by Li Dan.
How much pain would Shen Yao be in then?
She was different from herself; Shen Yao had a home—a warm home.
“Why don’t you listen to my plan? If you kill Li Dan, there will be another Li Dan. In this world, every man can be a Li Dan.”
“Can you kill them all?” Luo Xingran watched the two of them embracing, her expression darkening slightly.
“If you cooperate with me, there is a possibility of ending all of this. Of course, only a tiny possibility.” At this moment, Luo Xingran was completely different from the one in Tan Nuannuan’s memory.
She lacked even a shred of tenderness or empathy; she was as cold as a frigid statue.
“Are you certain?” Tan Nuannuan stared into her eyes, as if trying to confirm something.
“I’m not. Not in the slightest. But you don’t have a choice either.” Luo Xingran’s cold tone even surprised Shen Yao.
For a moment, she thought the person standing before her was Pei Junzhuo.
Gamblers with no choice must take their place at the table, even if there is only a one-in-a-million chance.
“One month from now, I will give you the plan. Goodbye.” After Luo Xingran finished speaking, she directly showed them the door.
Tan Nuannuan’s face darkened, and she wanted to say something more. Before she could open her mouth, she was pulled away by Shen Yao.
Only after the two had left did Luo Xingran exhale the breath she had been forcing herself to hold. She had done it on purpose—intentionally using such a harsh tone to speak to them and venting her anger on them.
In this world, it would be best if no one remembered her.
If her guess wasn’t wrong, she still held a fatal trump card in her hand. One week—in just one week, she would know the answer.
Pei Junzhuo, you idiot, wait for me.
In the void space, Luo Xingxing was dumbfounded by the situation. She spoke directly to the Spirit of the Space: “Do you think this is right?”
“It’s not right.” The Spirit of the Space spoke in a tiny voice. She didn’t know why the big brother, who used to bring her fun things, was now so terrifying.
He actually killed someone; there was so much blood, it was horrifying.
