Running a Food Stall to Support My Deceptive Omega - Chapter 38.1
It was true that Mu Jinyu had never truly done anything excessive to her, but Rong Heng could not accept being controlled by Mu Jinyu. That disgusting hand should be hacked off.
Rong Heng’s gaze lowered, a storm brewing within her pitch-black eyes.
Her expression was so sinister it looked as if she wanted to kill Mu Jinyu.
She gripped Mu Jinyu’s neck fiercely, watching as the other woman’s face gradually flushed a deep red under her palms. Mu Jinyu’s eyes were tightly shut, and her head began to toss and turn as if she were trying to break free from the restraint.
The corners of Rong Heng’s mouth curled upward. The two crimson beauty marks beneath her eyes looked like droplets of fresh blood, lending her a hauntingly eerie appearance.
Mu Jinyu, who had been fast asleep on the bed, began to breathe rapidly. She felt as though she were trapped in sleep paralysis; no matter how much she struggled, she couldn’t wake up.
No, no.
Cold sweat broke out on Mu Jinyu’s brow.
The terror of being pinned down by a “ghost” swept through her entire body. In her panic, her struggles intensified. Her hands instinctively rose, seemingly pressing against the “ghost’s” waist, pushing outward.
The “ghost’s” body jolted violently, and the constriction around Mu Jinyu’s neck loosened slightly.
Only then did Mu Jinyu find the chance to gasp for air. Her eyes flew open, filled with terror as she looked up at Rong Heng, who was sitting atop her.
What was going on?
What had happened?
Mu Jinyu panted heavily, her neck burning with a searing pain as if it had been lashed by a rope. Rong Heng sat astride her, looking down with those dark eyes—eyes that seemed to hold a flicker of excitement.
She looked like a total pervert.
Meanwhile, Mu Jinyu’s own hands were pressed against the narrowest part of Rong Heng’s waist. With her hands joined, she had completely encircled Rong Heng’s torso.
She was squeezing tightly, though she didn’t know why.
The bizarre posture and actions startled Mu Jinyu.
She wondered if she had been sleep-walking or had done something inappropriate to Rong Heng while dazed.
But why did her neck hurt so much?
The golden sunlight from outside spilled over the two of them. The brightness made Mu Jinyu feel faint, and her body lacked any strength.
Seeing that Mu Jinyu had awakened, Rong Heng immediately released her neck. Instead, she propped one hand on Mu Jinyu’s shoulder while the other reached out to stroke her full cheek.
She even gave it a pinch.
Rong Heng had her memories; she knew Mu Jinyu hadn’t actually done anything untoward, and she knew she couldn’t tolerate Mu Jinyu doing anything untoward to her.
However, that didn’t mean she couldn’t do something to Mu Jinyu.
She pinched two red finger marks into Mu Jinyu’s fair, tender cheek, then leaned down and bit fiercely into her full lower lip.
The taste of blood welled up. Rong Heng licked it; it was metallic and sweet.
This was the taste of Mu Jinyu.
A smile brewed in Rong Heng’s dark eyes. She had long since forgiven the fact that the woman’s hands were on her; she was in a quite excellent mood.
“Mmph.” Mu Jinyu winced in pain. She used one hand to brace against Rong Heng’s waist, pushing her further away, while the other covered her own lips. She was bewildered—why did Rong Heng bite her?
“What’s wrong?” Perhaps because she had just experienced sleep paralysis, Mu Jinyu still felt weak, her movements floating and unsteady. Even so, she was the first to ask out of concern: “Did I hurt you while I was asleep?”
She was more worried about Rong Heng’s state than her own.
She feared she might have left a traumatic shadow on Rong Heng.
Hearing this, Rong Heng, who was still sitting on her, seemed to let out a small laugh. Then, her lips moved toward the side of Mu Jinyu’s neck.
A circle of red marks had already risen on the throttled neck. Rong Heng pressed her lips against those marks and left a kiss.
The overly intimate gesture caused Mu Jinyu to shudder.
She shrank her neck back with a muffled groan and muttered clingingly, “Don’t.”
This was too strange. She had only taken a nap, yet upon waking, the two of them had somehow become entangled.
Moreover, the Rong Heng before her seemed like a different person.
She was a bit fierce, a bit frightening.
Mu Jinyu couldn’t possibly have imagined that Rong Heng was occasionally recovering her memories. She assumed it would be a long time before Rong Heng recovered, and that once she did, she would immediately leave this place and return to being that formidable Regent.
When facing Rong Heng, Mu Jinyu couldn’t even think of refusing. She would only continually make excuses for Rong Heng’s behavior, even looking for the fault within herself.
After kissing the red marks on Mu Jinyu’s neck, Rong Heng finally answered her question.
Mimicking her amnesiac persona, she widened her eyes slightly and spoke in a voice as innocent as possible: “Your hands weren’t behaving. You were touching me.”
She sat up straight, her cold, slender jade fingers hooking around Mu Jinyu’s fingers and pulling them upward, resting them loosely just above the waist.
She tilted her head slightly, her smooth long hair sliding off her shoulder to drape across her chest.
Because she had just been napping, the collar of her inner robe was slightly open, revealing her snow-white collarbones.
However, she truly couldn’t manage to be quite as pure as she was when she had actually lost her memories. Every movement carried a sense of control, as if she would strike again the moment Mu Jinyu’s reaction failed to satisfy her.
Mu Jinyu had no idea what the person in front of her was thinking. She was startled by Rong Heng’s claim, her clear amber eyes shrinking.
She thought that it must indeed be her own fault. It was hard to imagine she would make such a move in her sleep.
She had never known she was like that.
Yet, looking at the “innocent” Rong Heng before her, she actually felt the woman carried a hint of seduction.
This kind of thought was clearly wrong.
Mu Jinyu trembled, withdrawing her hand as if she had been electrocuted. She felt more and more that the problem lay with her.
She never even considered whether Rong Heng might be lying. With a flushed face, she turned her head away, wishing she could bury it in the pillow.
Heavens, what had she done! Why would she do something so excessive to Rong Heng!
“I didn’t… I didn’t do it on purpose.”
“Did I scare you? I’ll go sleep in the next room tonight. I definitely won’t offend you again!”
Rong Heng gave a small laugh. She stood up, climbing over Mu Jinyu to the inner side of the bed, and said leisurely, “It’s no matter. Goldfish… Wife… Lord.”
The last two words were spoken with a hint of gritted teeth.
Mu Jinyu couldn’t accept that reasoning. She stammered, “No, that won’t do. If I do something excessive again, it will be… it will be bad for you.”
Her bottom line had been repeatedly pushed back for Rong Heng’s sake—from sleeping in separate beds at the very beginning, to being forced to share a bed, to now sleeping in each other’s arms.
All of it represented the closing distance in their relationship.
But that didn’t mean she could touch Rong Heng at will, nor did it mean she could go further.
This was too strange. Mu Jinyu found it somewhat difficult to accept her current self.
She curled her body, leaning toward the outer edge of the bed. She covered half her face with her hands, her skin already burning red like a tomato boiled to perfection.
This made it impossible for Rong Heng to pinch her face, so she instead pinched Mu Jinyu’s already bright red ear and repeated, “I said it is no matter.”
Mu Jinyu’s back was turned, so she couldn’t see Rong Heng’s expression. Rong Heng stopped acting; her eyes were cold and sharp, annoyed at having to repeat herself.
“Hiss…” Her ear being tugged, Mu Jinyu gasped, not knowing what else to say.
The two of them did not continue their nap. Mu Jinyu couldn’t stay on the bed a moment longer; she got up and hurried out to the courtyard.
With her back to Rong Heng, acting as if she were avoiding her, she began to do chores.
Rong Heng was also exceptionally cold. She sat at the stone table and began doing her own work.
She didn’t want Mu Jinyu to notice anything was wrong.
Mu Jinyu was quite an interesting person; she wanted to play with her for a few more days.
On the way to set up the stall that night, the two didn’t say a word.
Rong Heng walked ahead on her own, while Mu Jinyu walked behind with her head bowed, looking like someone who had committed a great error.
Some of the other stall owners greeted her, but she didn’t even hear them.
This caused several vendors to look at her, then at Rong Heng walking in front, and then at the white cloth wrapped around Mu Jinyu’s neck. They clicked their tongues a few times.
Their eyes were filled with sympathy.
When they arrived at the stall, Rong Heng took advantage of the moment Mu Jinyu went to fetch water and casually kicked the ground!
A pebble flew toward two figures standing not far away across the street.
The pebble rolled a few times. Those two figures had been standing sloppily, leaning here and there while cracking melon seeds and chatting. In the next second, they stood up straight as if hit by an electric shock and looked toward Rong Heng behind the stall.
Meeting Rong Heng’s cold gaze, the two of them arrived at the stall almost in a flash, whispering, “Master.”
Secret Guard One and Secret Guard Two were incredibly excited. They thought their Master had finally summoned them.
However, they were afraid others passing by would notice something amiss and ruin the Master’s disguise. Even though they were thrilled, they didn’t show it too much.
Rong Heng hummed in acknowledgment and said, “Go and find a large amount of fennel. It can neutralize the poison in my body.”
From the time she was poisoned until now, she had recovered her memory three times in total.
After the first two times, she might not have guessed exactly why she was recovering her memory, but with the third time, it was impossible not to know.
On all three occasions, she had come into contact with the same thing: fennel. The fennel in the sachet, the fennel in the braised mutton, and the fennel in the stir-fried eggs.
“Yes, we will see to it immediately.” Having received their orders, Secret Guard One and Secret Guard Two left the cart and stood across the street.
Secret Guard One told Secret Guard Two to continue guarding the Master while she went to buy the fennel.
Since it was something that could cure the Master’s poison, she had to ensure it was available whenever the Master wanted it.
After briefing her guards, Rong Heng arranged the items on the cart, waiting for Mu Jinyu to return.
When business became busy, she acted like a normal person, helping Mu Jinyu with the work. However, she spoke much less than usual and was much colder.
When the night market reached its peak hour and business was at its busiest…
The Stallholder Zhang, who had disappeared for two days, actually reappeared.
As soon as he arrived, he walked toward the fish cake stall. He raised his hand, intending to flip the things on the stall over so that Mu Jinyu would have nothing left to sell!
Even though Rong Heng was focused on selling fish cakes, it was impossible for her to let Zhang touch the stall.
She looked up, and with lightning speed, she thrust the tongs she was using for the fish cakes toward Zhang’s throat!
Zhang let out a miserable scream, clutching his neck and stumbling back several steps. His face turned a deep red, and he was both gagging and gasping for air.
He looked bizarre in every way.
A commotion had broken out. The customers lined up at Mu Jinyu’s stall scattered to both sides, leaving a large open space as they looked left and right, trying to figure out what had happened.
As for Zhang, before he could even process what had occurred, he felt a sharp pain in his neck, followed by a surging sensation of suffocation.
The sudden breathlessness made him both terrified and furious!
After being tricked by Mu Jinyu, everyone on the street had been laughing at him, intentionally or otherwise. It made it impossible for him to hold his head up, and he didn’t dare leave his house!
