Rich Cat A Would Never Fall in Love with a Fake Heiress - Chapter 21
Early in the morning, Mo Li got up for work to find Mo Wang had already prepared breakfast.
It was scallion and eggs again, this time paired with a chicken breast salad.
Having a ready-made meal, she certainly had no complaints. Mo Li hastily stuffed a few bites into her mouth, threw on her coat, and headed out.
As she was leaving, Mo Wang handed her a packed lunch, and for a moment, Mo Li felt a sense of accomplishment, as if she had a virtuous wife at home.
She pulled Mo Wang close and gave her a kiss.
The entire morning, Mo Li was full of energy, clearing all the documents that had been delayed the day before and instructing Secretary Su to organize and distribute them to the relevant departments.
Secretary Su, who had been run ragged by her these past few days, lethargically picked up the mountain of documents.
Mo Li typed away at her computer, carefully wording her approach toward the Luo Corporation, and without looking up, instructed, “Can you compile all the collaborative projects with the Luo Corporation by today?”
Secretary Su stumbled, barely catching herself on the desk. “All of them? The Mo Corporation’s or yours?”
Mo Li paused her typing. “Do my few projects really need a whole day to organize? The Mo Corporation’s.”
Secretary Su looked as if she were about to cry. “Boss, I’ll drop all pretense of shame, my heat cycle hasn’t come for ages. If this keeps up, I’ll be rendered infertile.”
Mo Li held up two fingers.
Secretary Su firmly refused. “Not even 20,000 will do.”
Without looking up, Mo Li added, “Plus 20 days of paid leave.”
“I’ll do it.” Secretary Su straightened her back, suddenly revitalized. “Add a daily coffee allowance of 30, and I’ll have it done by midnight tonight.”
Mo Li nodded decisively and scribbled a note. “Take this to HR for approval and payment. Also, send over the documents in batches as you finish, don’t wait until tonight to hand them all in at once.”
Secretary Su took the note with both hands, as if a eunuch had received an imperial decree.
She gathered the scattered documents from the floor, bowed respectfully, and left.
Mo Li planned to sell off all the Luo Corporation shares she held.
The Luo Corporation’s overall value was on an optimistic upward trend, and selling the shares now would attract many buyers willing to pay a high price, allowing Mo Li to secure a considerable sum.
However, the stock market operates by its own rules. Dumping all the shares on a single shareholder would inevitably raise suspicion and panic, causing a rapid drop in stock prices.
With Luo Licheng’s sharp mind, he would surely notice, and if the two families turned hostile, the situation would become even more complicated.
Mo Li only wanted to minimize losses before the storm hit. She had no intention of meddling in the Luo family’s affairs or becoming the cause of the turmoil.
Fortunately, there was a solution. She could arrange individual meetings with the other shareholders, selling small portions of her shares to each and emphasizing that the sale was exclusive to them, to avoid upsetting the others.
Share transfers between shareholders didn’t require a shareholders’ meeting, and these shareholders, driven by self-interest, would likely keep the transactions secret from one another.
This wouldn’t keep things hidden for long, but it would serve its purpose.
Mo Li soon received replies from the selected shareholders, all of whom accepted the proposal and agreed to meet.
Satisfied, she shifted her attention and opened her lunchbox, scallion and egg rolls, along with a boiled beef salad.
Mo Li chewed on the cabbage in her salad like an old cow, then pulled open the partition curtain in her office, gazing enviously at the lavish takeout her subordinates had ordered.
Secretary Su pushed open the office door, saw Mo Li’s bland meal, and couldn’t help but mutter to herself.
Who would have thought even a boss like her, an Alpha, would be dieting? Truly, women dress up for those who appreciate them.
She didn’t say anything else: “President Mo, these documents are the projects related to the Luo Corporation handled by your subordinates, and these are the projects overseen by Vice President Mo.”
Mo Li flipped through them a few times and frowned slightly.
The Vice President Mo mentioned by Secretary Su was actually Mo Li’s second uncle, Mo Huli. Back when Mo Li’s father fell ill, this second brother of his had played a part by indulging him in excessive eating, drinking, and social engagements.
When Mo Li’s father suffered a sudden cardiac arrest and was confined to his hospital bed, Mo Huli hypocritically approached Mo Li’s mother, hoping to take full control of the Mo Corporation. However, Mo Wang firmly refused.
At the time, Mo Huli caused a scene for quite a while and even resorted to violence, hitting Mo Wang.
In the end, Mo Wang had people beat him so badly that he ended up in the hospital bed next to Mo Li’s father, where he stayed for a full two months.
But even then, he wasn’t idle. He sold off his shares at a low price, causing the Mo Corporation’s stock to plummet to rock bottom. Then, he bought them back at an ultra-low price and caused trouble at the shareholders’ meeting.
Because of this, once the Mo Corporation recovered, Mo Wang, together with the board of directors, expelled him and forcibly reclaimed the shares he held.
Ultimately, after Mo Li’s father woke up, out of brotherly affection, he assigned him a few projects in subsidiary companies and gave him the position of vice president.
Mo Huli was extreme and paranoid by nature, always suspecting that others meant him harm, making him difficult to negotiate with.
As Mo Li skimmed through the project details, she noticed something unusual.
All of Mo Huli’s projects were led by the Luo Corporation as the primary partner.
He had even introduced traditional projects like real estate and construction, areas where the Luo Corporation was lacking. There were clearly better, more cost-effective partner companies available, including the Mo Corporation’s own contractors, yet he deliberately avoided them.
Mo Huli was essentially using the Mo Corporation’s projects to funnel money and project experience to the Luo Corporation.
Mo Li sneered. He had certainly mastered the art of currying favor.
“Has Vice President Mo been at the headquarters recently?”
Secretary Su adjusted her glasses and thought for a moment. “Yes, he submitted a project funding application to Secretary Liu. I happened to run into Secretary Liu when I was printing the documents earlier.”
Secretary Liu was left at the company by Mo Li’s father to handle affairs. Mo Huli’s project reports were only submitted to him, which was why Mo Li had never paid much attention to the projects under Mo Huli’s purview.
Mo Li closed the folder. “Alright, I understand.”
She quickly finished her salad. She had been worrying about how to justify withdrawing funds, and now Mo Huli had handed her the perfect excuse.
Truly, family knows how to help each other out.
Mo Li pulled on her black leather gloves and headed downstairs without even putting on her coat.
On the 13th-floor office, the windows were wide open, and a strong wind rustled the papers loudly. The office workers stood silently scattered around. It should have been lunchtime, but no one was eating. Instead, they lingered by the windows or near the water cooler.
When Mo Li entered, they all simultaneously showed expressions of surprise and embarrassment, their eyes unconsciously darting toward the enclosed office inside.
Secretary Su, still unaware of the situation, walked over and struggled to close the windows.
“The building is tall, and the wind is strong. If you’re hot, isn’t the air conditioning enough?”
The wind died down, and the rustling of papers ceased.
Rhythmic, soft moans and panting, now unobstructed, reached everyone’s ears. The sounds were coming from that enclosed office, the one reserved exclusively for Mo Huli’s use at the headquarters.
Silence and embarrassment spread. The office workers didn’t dare lift their heads.
Secretary Su covered her mouth and reopened the windows.
The wind howled once more, and the surrounding office workers breathed a sigh of relief.
A short, pockmarked man stepped forward, attempting to smooth things over with unwarranted confidence.
Rubbing his hands together, he wore an exaggerated smile. “President Mo, today really isn’t the best time. Perhaps you could arrange another meeting with the Vice President?”
He winked, flashing a knowing expression as if such situations were commonplace.
Mo Li tilted her head slightly. “Who is he?”
Secretary Su leaned in and whispered, “This is Vice President Mo’s nephew, Mo Rufeng. He’s rarely at headquarters, so you probably haven’t met him.”
Left standing awkwardly, Mo Rufeng flushed with embarrassment.
Ignoring him, Mo Li strode directly to the office medical cabinet, retrieving three suppressants. She handed the smallest one to Secretary Su. “Inject it.”
She then jabbed a needle into the back of her own neck before delivering a powerful kick to the sealed office door.
The strength of an Alpha was terrifying, the glass door shattered inward, collapsing onto the marble floor in a spray of fragments.
As the door gave way, the scent of gun smoke mixed with minty cigarette pheromones flooded out. Mo Li covered her nose, a vein throbbing at her temple.
Secretary Su also wrinkled her nose in disgust with a soft “ugh.”
Mo Li marched into the inner lounge, where two half-dressed individuals stared in shock at the doorway. She snatched a coat from the wall and tossed it to the Omega on the bed, commanding sharply, “Get out.”
The Omega hastily buttoned up and fled.
Only Mo Huli remained on the bed, panicked. Watching Mo Li crack her knuckles, he scrambled backward, forgetting even to pull on his pants.
Mo Rufeng hurried in from behind, forcing a smile. “President Mo, he is your uncle after all. By family ties, you should even call me ‘brother.’ We’re all family here…”
Without a glance, Mo Li slammed the lounge door in his face. “You too, get out.”
Perhaps reminded by Mo Rufeng’s words, Mo Huli finally regained a sliver of composure. “That’s right, Mo Li, I’m your uncle! You can’t hit me in front of everyone…”
Mo Li pulled out her phone and snapped a photo. “Uncle, what are you talking about? I’ve never hit you, not even behind closed doors.”
Actually, she had.
When Mo Li first took over her father’s responsibilities, Mo Huli had been fiercely opposed. In his eyes, with her father stepping down, he, as the most senior, should have taken charge.
But lacking real power or influence, he could only rally minor shareholders to resist cooperation and withhold project handovers, irritating Mo Li like a persistent mosquito, not painful, but endlessly annoying.
At the time, overwhelmed by pressure, Mo Li had him kidnapped and personally beat him up.
Afterward, she had him cleaned, treated, and dumped naked on the street.
Since Mo Huli had been snatched from a brothel, he dared not report it and had to swallow the humiliation. From then on, he avoided Mo Li at all costs.
Now, watching her pull on a pair of gloves, he was instantly reminded of that beating and nodded frantically, eager to cooperate.
“Right, you’ve never hit me. Your uncle made a mistake today. Please be merciful and let me go.”
Mo Li clicked her tongue, and Mo Huli shuddered.
She offered a cold, mocking smile. “Uncle, you make it sound like I came here specifically to cause you trouble.”
Mo Huli shook his head vigorously.
Seeing how pathetic he was, Mo Li decided not to push him further.
“I’m not interested in your private affairs, Second Uncle, just keep them out of my sight.” She kicked the messy pile of clothes on the floor disdainfully.
Mo Huli gratefully snatched up one piece and put it on.
“It’s about the project again. Why did you hand over the real estate and construction contracts under your management to the Luo family?”
Mo Huli lowered his head guiltily. “Well…”
Mo Li kicked the edge of the bed.
Mo Huli flinched. “Young Master Luo always gives me an extra cut… I lost my head for a moment and…”
Just as expected. Mo Huli was as timid as a mouse, any mischief he got into was driven purely by greed. He’d never amount to much anyway.
Luo Licheng, on the other hand, was shrewd. On the surface, he cooperated wholeheartedly with Mo Li, but behind the scenes, he found loopholes to embezzle the Mo family’s money. Truly, the wool comes from the sheep’s back.
Mo Li sighed. There were no friends in business, she should have been more cautious.
“Go back and cut off the project collaboration with the Luo family. The company will cover your breach-of-contract fees. From now on, all such projects will be handled in-house. The savings alone would be enough for you to indulge in lavish feasts.”
Her words meant she wouldn’t pursue the matter further, and the funding for his projects would continue as usual.
Upon hearing that he wouldn’t be punished and would even get money, Mo Huli was overjoyed and couldn’t stop thanking her.
Watching him bob his head like a kowtowing insect irritated Mo Li. She waved her hand dismissively, telling him to get out.
As for the project funding continuing, that would only happen if Mo Huli could secure any projects in the future.
