Rich Cat A Would Never Fall in Love with a Fake Heiress - Chapter 16
Since that incident, Father Mo had not woken up. The doctors said he had been deprived of oxygen for too long, causing irreversible damage to his brain, and he might remain in a long-term vegetative state.
Faced with the swarming media and furious shareholders, Mother Mo was so terrified that she huddled in her bedroom, trembling.
After that day, Mo Wang stayed at the Mo Corporation and never returned home. However, she specifically arranged for someone to escort Mo Li to her college entrance exams.
Unexpectedly, Mo Wang acted with swift decisiveness. In just half a year, the Mo Corporation stabilized, and a large number of investors returned.
It was during this period that Mo Wang quickly gained control of all the resources and connections within the Mo Corporation, replacing Father Mo as the pillar of the Mo family.
…
In the ward of Qiang Wei Medical Center.
Mo Li opened her eyes and realized she had fallen asleep at some point by Mo Wang’s bedside, a thin blanket draped over her.
She had been awakened by a nurse coming to change the IV drip. Mo Wang was already awake, half-sitting up and watching the fluid level in the IV tube steadily drop.
Despite having just lost blood, her expression remained as calm and composed as ever, just like back when Father Mo had collapsed, and she repeatedly shielded the Mo family from the wrath of creditors, shareholders, and employees. Stern, reliable, strong, and aloof, that was the impression Mo Li had of Mo Wang at the time.
Seeing Mo Li sit up, the nurse gave an apologetic smile, replaced the IV bottle, and hurried away.
Mo Li stood up, carefully avoiding the IV tube and the side with the wound, and pulled the blanket up to Mo Wang’s chest.
“Why are you up?”
Mo Wang pointed to the back of her hand and smiled. “If I didn’t get up, should I have relied on you to watch the IV drip for me?”
Mo Li, feeling a bit guilty for having slept so soundly by the bedside, tilted her head slightly and explained, “Modern IV bottles don’t cause blood backflow or let air in anymore.”
Mo Wang raised an eyebrow. “So? Can it change the medicine automatically?”
Mo Li, knowing she was in the wrong, reached over to lower the hospital bed, making Mo Wang more comfortable.
“I’m going to buy breakfast. What do you want?”
Mo Wang thought for a moment. “Fish slice porridge, the kind we had last time. And I’d like some of Qing Jia Ao’s crispy pastries.”
Qing Jia Ao was currently the most popular breakfast spot in City A. After being hyped up by influencers from all over, they had started using scarcity marketing, only 100 portions of crispy pastries were sold daily, available until they ran out.
Rumor had it that to get a portion, one had to start queuing at 4 a.m.
Mo Li checked her phone for the time.
5:32 a.m.
She looked at Mo Wang, who gave her a smile that seemed to say, “I may not have long to live, but all I want before I go is a bite of that crispy pastry.”
Resigned, Mo Li threw on her coat and strode out of the ward.
As she stepped out of the elevator, a woman wearing a mask, sunglasses, and bundled up tightly brushed past her and entered the elevator.
Mo Li found it strange. Mo Wang was always strict with her subordinates, employees who didn’t wear uniforms in the company would be reassigned or even dismissed.
A faint herbal fragrance lingered in the air, the scent of an Omega’s pheromones.
Mo Li watched the elevator display as it ascended, stopping at the fifth floor where Mo Wang’s room was located, and she began to understand.
Nevertheless, she turned around, pulled out her phone, and instructed Secretary Su to go secure a portion of Qing Jia Ao’s crispy pastries, while she headed home to prepare the fish slice porridge herself.
When Mo Li returned to the hospital room carrying congee and snacks, only Mo Wang remained. She was half-reclining on the bed, a portable desk propped over her lap as she typed rapidly on her laptop.
The legs of the desk were dangerously close to her wound, trembling precariously with Mo Wang’s movements.
Mo Li’s face darkened. She walked over, pressed the laptop shut, and moved the desk aside.
Mo Wang didn’t seem upset. Instead, she rested her chin on her hand and watched Mo Li’s busy movements with interest.
Considering Mo Wang’s injury was on her side, making it difficult for her to sit up, Mo Li scooped a spoonful of congee and brought it to her lips.
Mo Wang narrowed her eyes contentedly, but only brushed her lips lightly against the edge of the spoon before dragging out her words in a deliberately unreasonable tone.
“It’s too hot. I never imagined the great CEO Mo wouldn’t even know how to take care of a patient.”
Mo Li took a deep breath, reminding herself to be patient, and gently blew on the spoonful of congee.
This time, Mo Wang tentatively extended the tip of her pink tongue to test the temperature, like a finicky cat. She took the congee in several small sips, then let her fingers trail along Mo Li’s arm, slowly moving upward.
Leaning forward, her voice took on a suggestive tone.
“Don’t you want to taste it too?”
Without changing her expression, Mo Li set the congee bowl aside, stood up, and pressed Mo Wang back against the bed. She leaned in cautiously, their breaths mingling as she drew close to Mo Wang’s face.
Her hands moved deftly, pulling a restraint strap from the other end of the bed. She looped it over Mo Wang’s shoulders and neck, securing her upper body firmly.
“Stop moving around.”
Mo Li sat back down and resumed feeding her the congee, spoonful by spoonful. Mo Wang finally settled down and finished the entire bowl.
Once done, Mo Li loosened the restraint and let Mo Wang nibble on a crispy pastry by herself.
As she tidied up the dishes, Mo Li asked casually, “It just occurred to me, Bai Wu is one of your people, right? Back in high school, she was the school doctor.”
“Was she here earlier?”
Mo Wang paused mid-bite, stared at Mo Li for a moment, and said, “Do you have a dog’s nose?”
That was as good as a confirmation.
Mo Li’s brow furrowed, her gaze sharpening. “Did you send someone to seduce Father?”
No matter how strict and selfish Father Mo was, he was still Mo Wang’s adoptive father.
Mo Wang shook her head gently. “I’m not that twisted. That plan was her idea.”
“The Lin family’s affairs are none of my business, but Bai Wu’s method helped both of us resolve a lot of trouble.”
“I simply followed the situation and my instincts, making the most advantageous choice.”
