Rich Cat A Would Never Fall in Love with a Fake Heiress - Chapter 14
Mo Li brushed her hair away with a hint of disdain before remembering the main issue. “Why did you have them move my seat to the middle? Now everyone faces me during class, as if they’re attending my funeral.”
She questioned angrily, “Even the teachers are ignoring me now. What else did you say to them?”
Mo Wang blinked innocently. “As teachers, shouldn’t they be held accountable for turning a blind eye to such severe bullying in the class? They deserved to be reprimanded.”
“As for your seat, no one will disturb your studies there, right?”
Mo Wang reached out, pulled off Mo Li’s hair tie, and casually tied her own hair with it before heading toward the infirmary door.
“You!” Mo Li was fuming.
Mo Wang patted her shoulder and smirked. “Why so upset? Just enjoy your well-fed, well-clothed high school life.”
She really was deliberately getting back at her!
Only after Mo Wang’s figure disappeared into the distance did the female school doctor poke her head out, looking curiously at Mo Li.
“So, you’re Mo Wang’s sister. Of all people to provoke, you had to pick her.”
Mo Li decided to skip the rest of the class and plopped down in the infirmary, muttering angrily.
“It wasn’t on purpose. She’s just petty.”
The school doctor’s curiosity ignited. She poured Mo Li a cup of hot tea from her thermos and urged eagerly, “Care to elaborate?”
After listening to Mo Li’s resentful rant, she burst out laughing. “Mo Wang was right after all…”
Mo Li asked, “What did she say?”
The school doctor replied, “She said you always seem a bit slow on the uptake.”
Mo Li: “…”
A bit indignantly, she retorted, “But it’s not my fault they treated me that way.”
“Too rigid, and you’ll break,” the school doctor said, her smile fading. Her eyes grew soft and hazy in the steam from the tea. “Out of respect for the Mo family, some won’t act openly, but they’ll harm you in secret.”
Noticing Mo Li’s puzzled look, she smiled and changed the subject, introducing herself. “I’m Bai Wu. My sister’s daughter, Lin Qianying, is in your class.”
Mo Li frowned but said nothing when she saw Bai Wu’s apologetic expression.
“Mo Wang came to see me the other day to discuss her. That child is usually suppressed by my sister, yet spoiled by those below her, so she’s become moody and unpredictable. We failed to discipline her properly, I’m truly sorry.”
Mo Li nodded. “Then I’ll help you discipline her from now on.”
Bai Wu was taken aback, then laughed.
“Well then, I’ll leave it to you. Anyway, if you ever want to skip class or have something interesting to share, you’re always welcome here.”
A teacher actually encouraging students to skip class? Mo Li was speechless but nodded hesitantly.
After all, she didn’t really have anyone else to talk to in this school.
Soon, though, Mo Li discovered the advantage of this arrangement: whenever she pestered someone with a request, those who tried to avoid her would quickly give in.
Leveraging this intimidation, Mo Li successfully became a candidate for class president.
Her reasoning was simple: as class president, she’d have to interact with classmates and teachers, which could help ease the strained relationships caused by Mo Wang’s coercion.
But after spending two days preparing a handwritten speech and stumbling through memorizing it word by word…
On election day, a stylish and beautiful international student transferred into the class. With her fluent British accent, she chattered away and successfully became the dark horse in the class monitor election.
Perhaps to compensate for Mo Li’s loss, she was later assigned the role of flag bearer for the school’s anniversary ceremony.
However, most students at this age took pride in being dismissive and lazy, scoffing at the tedious school ceremonies. They only perked up when there was some excitement to watch.
So, when the flag bearer beside her “accidentally” swung the school flag in her direction, the soft fabric enveloped her like an egg-yellow human-shaped stake. The friction between the fabric and her hair generated static electricity, making her strands stand on end. As the flag slowly rose, the stray hairs on her forehead stood up proudly, like the comical spiky hairstyles seen on TV.
Soft laughter rippled from the audience.
Mo Li kicked the flagpole hard, yanked the flag down, and threw it over the face of the flag bearer beside her.
No one laughed anymore.
The flag-raising ceremony ended, but this time, Mo Li didn’t receive any punishment.
She ran alone to the depths of the green wooded area by the sports field, listlessly kicking at pebbles.
This place was a dating hotspot for school couples at night, where the trees and shadows absorbed all light and sound, making it impossible for anyone to be discovered.
There was a rustling sound from the bushes behind her, but Mo Li paid it no mind. She just kicked the tree trunk beside her in frustration.
With all the recent misfortunes and being made a fool of, she could easily guess it was Mo Wang’s doing.
If only she could catch Mo Wang in a compromising situation too.
As Mo Li was lost in thought, she was suddenly bumped into firmly from behind. She tried to speak, but her mouth was abruptly covered. Her feet, flailing backward, were swept out from under her, and she was dragged behind a nearby tree.
“Go find School Doctor Bai. Don’t say anything unnecessary, and watch your mouth.”
Heavy, labored breathing came from behind her, and the hand covering her mouth felt unusually hot.
Mo Li detected a hint of familiarity in the voice and widened her eyes in disbelief. Her struggling hands gradually stilled, and she gently patted the back of the hand covering her mouth.
“What are you doing?”
Mo Wang’s voice was irritable, but it faltered when she saw Mo Li’s face, and she released her hands.
Mo Li scrambled to her feet and turned around.
Mo Wang’s cheeks were flushed with an unnatural redness, and her voice was unusually weak. She was kneeling, leaning against the tree trunk, breathing heavily as if suppressing something.
“You have a fever,” Mo Li stated with certainty.
“Little brat,” Mo Wang chuckled lightly. “Yeah, so please do me the honor and hurry to fetch School Doctor Bai.”
Mo Li hesitated, took a few steps forward, then turned back.
“I won’t do this for free.”
Mo Wang, burning up with fever, lifted her head. Her eyes were like early winter snow: cold, lonely, and fragile. After a moment, she laughed, a touch of self-mockery in her tone.
“Name your price.”
Mo Li raised one finger. “First, don’t call me ‘little brat.'”
Under Mo Wang’s subtly absurd gaze, she raised another finger. “Second, stop messing with me.”
