- Chapter 13 - Help, He Really Loves My Brother!
Yan Mingyue’s gaze was so sorrowful that he looked exactly like an abandoned puppy.
Whatever thought crossed Gu Yuebai’s mind caused him to cough twice, and he turned away with the corners of his mouth curling upward. For a moment, the air seemed to grow a bit ambiguous.
“Cough, cough. Sorry, I will definitely pull you back next time.”
“Hmph, fine!” Yan Mingyue knew when to stop. Today’s mission was complete, and he had successfully committed his daily act of shamelessness. He brushed off the nonexistent dust on his hands, a satisfied smile on his face. He laughed heartily at the sky as he headed out, only to accidentally twist his waist.
Jin Xi looked at Gu Yuebai helplessly and sighed. “You just love to spoil him!”
Gu Yuebai smiled but said nothing. Then, under Jin Xi’s horrified gaze, he hooked his arm around Jin Xi’s neck and grinned. “If you keep talking nonsense, I do not mind sending you back home.”
Hearing the threat of being sent back, Jin Xi made a zipping motion over his mouth, indicating he would not utter another word.
Then, as if remembering something, he made an unzipping motion. “Dear cousin, since we have nothing to do, can I go out for a stroll?”
Gu Yuebai was speechless. “Since when do you need my permission to go out? Dismissed!”
Having received Gu Yuebai’s nod, Jin Xi ran off like a wild horse released from its tether.
“Hiss! Holy crap! I really twisted my waist!”
On the other side, Yan Mingyue inhaled sharply through his teeth. Clutching his waist, he began to climb down the stairs slowly in a very awkward posture.
Who would have thought? After living two lives, he ended up as the vice president of the Anime Club in both!
Since there were no classes this afternoon, it was the perfect time to drop by the club room.
The Anime Club was located on the old campus behind the school. To get to the old campus, one had to pass by East Lake.
Yan Mingyue grumbled to himself as he walked along the small path by the lake toward the old campus.
Because East Lake and the old campus were in a remote location, the surrounding tall trees blocked out the sun. Even on a scorching hot day, the area felt chilly, giving off a vibe straight out of a campus horror movie. Moreover, there were fewer students on the old campus at this hour. Aside from the rustling sound of his sneakers on fallen leaves, there was only the sound of his own heavy breathing.
A gust of chilly wind blew, swirling the leaves from the branches and letting one drift onto Yan Mingyue’s shoulder.
This reminded him of a horror story his roommate told him in his previous life about East Lake and the old campus: people jumping into the lake, the senior sister in red.
In this setting, according to a typical novel plot, a cold wind would blow from behind him, followed by a pale hand reaching out to touch his shoulder.
“Yan Mingyue!” As if validating his fears, a hand slowly rested on his shoulder, and a trembling voice drifted into his ear from behind.
Yan Mingyue jumped in fright. Then, as if his soul had left his body, he turned around with a strangely calm expression. Do not let the calm face fool you; his spirit was already halfway to the afterlife. A little longer and people could have started preparing for his funeral feast.
When he realized the hand belonged to Jin Xi, he took a deep breath and could not help but curse. “Do you have a hole in your brain? Why are you following me? Do you not know that people can be scared to death? I am so done! And why are you using that pinched voice? Did you do it on purpose?”
Jin Xi did not get angry at the scolding. Instead, he hooked his arm around Yan Mingyue’s shoulder like they were best friends. “Good brother, I remember you are in the Anime Club, right? Can you take me with you?”
He rubbed his hands together in anticipation, the light in his eyes very clear to Yan Mingyue. Good kid, I did not realize you liked cosplay too.
Yan Mingyue let out a cold laugh and said sarcastically, “Hehe, you might want to tone down that otaku scent of yours.”
Jin Xi knew Yan Mingyue was still annoyed by his earlier comments and felt quite regretful. He thought about what Yan Mingyue might like and said, “I can tell you about my brother’s interests, hobbies, and his type!”
Yan Mingyue replied, “Hehe, you might want to tone down that otaku scent. Wait! Did you say Gu Yuebai’s interests? Fine, it is a deal!”
He thought to himself that the original novel only briefly mentioned a few of Gu Yuebai’s hobbies, and he did not know enough about him. If he could learn more from Jin Xi, would that not make clinging to that powerful leg so much easier?
Hearing Yan Mingyue agree without hesitation, Jin Xi thought: Yan Mingyue really loves my brother so much. He really does. I am touched to tears. If he actually manages to win my brother over in the future, regardless of who is on top, he will be my one and only brother!
The two guys, both filled with internal drama, actually hit it off. Hooking their arms around each other’s shoulders as if they had been brothers for over a decade, they headed toward the Anime Club chatting and laughing. Their combined aura was so strong they probably would not have been afraid even if ten more senior sisters in red appeared.
