- Chapter 11 - What Should I Do? He Loves Me So Much!
Having fled the scene, Gu Yuebai could not help but touch his burning earlobes. He kept his eyes cast downward, appearing deeply troubled by the recent turn of events.
From childhood, he had always been the golden child in everyone’s eyes. Because of his refined features and good looks, boys and girls alike frequently confessed their feelings to him.
However, this was the first time he had seen someone try to confess even while passing out.
Help! What should I do? He loves me so much! If I reject him now, will he cry himself to death?
Unfortunately, he was a straight man through and through. Therefore, between them, it was impossible.
“Impossible.”
“What is impossible? Did you not just go to deliver chicken soup to Yan Mingyue? Are you possessed?”
Jin Xi heard Gu Yuebai mutter that nonsensical sentence and raised an eyebrow. He leaned in with a mischievous grin, his tone thick with undeniable gossip.
Gu Yuebai raised his hand, pressing the thermal flask against Jin Xi’s face to push him back. He took a deep breath and said, “I suspect that Yan Mingyue likes me.”
No matter how many words Jin Xi had ready, they all dissolved into a simple, unadorned “Huh?”
Jin Xi’s brain stalled for a moment, and his smirk froze. He mouthed silently for a long time before finally finding his voice again. “How can you tell?”
Gu Yuebai rubbed his temples in frustration and sighed. “A few days ago, after you and Lu Renjia went out to eat, Yan Mingyue ran over to apologize and insisted on making it up to me. And just now, even though he had clearly fainted in my arms, he forced himself awake just to confess to me. You tell me.”
The more Jin Xi listened, the more shocked he became. By the end, he was staring blankly like a stunned dog.
He nodded solemnly as if the realization had finally hit him, then slapped his thigh hard. “Holy crap! I get it! I totally get it now!”
Seeing Gu Yuebai’s worsening headache, Jin Xi considered a new possibility.
“Bro, I have been thinking. What if Yan Mingyue never liked Lu Beichen at all? Is it possible that everything Yan Mingyue did was just to get your attention?”
Gu Yuebai inhaled sharply, feeling a sudden surge of irritation.
Jin Xi shrugged and sat cross-legged on the bed, looking up at him. “What do you think of him? Knowing you, you would not believe his nonsense so easily, right?”
He paused, then continued, “Actually, to be more precise, you do not care at all about what Yan Mingyue did in the past, do you?”
It was clear they were brothers who had grown up together.
The habits and environment Gu Yuebai was raised in had shaped his character. While it would be a lie to say he completely ignored the rumors Yan Mingyue had spread, he felt that wasting time on such trivial matters was worse than reading books or doing something meaningful.
Furthermore, compared to Yan Mingyue, people were much more inclined to believe Gu Yuebai, whom they knew and viewed as their equal.
As for Yan Mingyue himself, Gu Yuebai did not quite know what to think.
They had not spent much time together. His impressions of the boy’s character were based entirely on hearsay. Perhaps the real Yan Mingyue was different from the person others described.
Therefore, Gu Yuebai was willing to give Yan Mingyue a chance to prove himself. Of course, this was definitely not because of the confession!
Gu Yuebai placed the thermal flask on the table. While texting the family housekeeper to come and pick it up, he answered Jin Xi indifferently, “Those who believe in me will do so regardless, and I do not need the trust of those who do not. Yan Mingyue’s words cannot affect me. Besides,” a flicker of doubt crossed Gu Yuebai’s eyes, “based on our interactions over the last few days, he seems different from the Yan Mingyue we knew. It is as if he is a different person. So, I plan to observe him a bit longer.”
As Gu Yuebai’s number one follower, Jin Xi naturally agreed with whatever he said. If Gu Yuebai claimed the earth was square, Jin Xi would likely give him a thumbs up and shout his approval.
Thus, Jin Xi shrugged and gave up thinking. “Fine, I will follow your lead. But you should still be careful. What if his acting is just that good and he is trying to trick you?”
While his acting skills were being discussed, Yan Mingyue realized his nose was bleeding. He practically scrambled out of bed, covering his nose with one hand while using the other to grab tissues. He rolled them into plugs and stuffed them into his nostrils to get some relief.
Suddenly, he could not stop himself from sneezing twice. The tissues nearly shot out of his nose like two missiles. Fortunately, he was quick enough to cover his face and prevent a tragedy.
One sneeze means someone misses you, two means someone is scolding you, and three means you have a cold. Clearly, someone was talking behind his back!
Despite the pathetic nosebleed, he felt like he had finally come back to life. He really wanted to curse, but when he remembered the soup was a gift from Gu Yuebai, he forced himself to swallow his words.
Oh well. That is just how it is when it comes to Gu Yuebai.
