- Chapter 39 - The Fox Spirit is Very Seductive
“So direct?” Although she knew that being a ‘canary’ meant servicing these people, being confronted with it so immediately was a bit overwhelming.
Song Qingxing’s gaze fell on the exquisite gift box. She wondered if expressing dissatisfaction and refusing the gift could let her evade the ‘service’ for today.
But she couldn’t hide forever. Sooner or later, she would have to face this issue. Otherwise, why would someone invest huge resources into promoting her?
Was she bought just to be a vase at home? That seemed ridiculous.
But she really wasn’t ready. Perhaps she could just say she didn’t like the gift. If she didn’t accept it, maybe she wouldn’t have to take the next step today.
As Song Qingxing thought this, her hand reached out to untie the ribbon on the gift box. Her fingertips trembled.
What met her eyes was an entire necklace of blue gemstones. The color of the gems was clear and transparent, like a vast ocean.
It was almost comparable to the ‘Heart of the Ocean’ from Titanic.
The bling was blinding.
Song Qingxing definitely loved beautiful gemstones. She felt diamonds were transparent and useless except for their sparkle, not nearly as beautiful as colorful, vibrant gems.
Only a fool wouldn’t accept such a large gemstone.
Song Qingxing’s thoughts were in a fierce internal battle. Just as she was struggling with her dilemma, Xie Jingcheng moved her hand slightly.
“Keep opening it. There’s another layer underneath.”
Seeing her hesitation, Xie Jingcheng simply urged her to continue. Her goal was to make the person happy, so she didn’t care if she got her way today.
Haste makes waste.
Xie Jingcheng had always been willing to wait slowly; only a gentle simmer could make the most fragrant soup.
Song Qingxing then seemed to wake up from a trance, reaching out to open the next layer of the gift box.
There were blue earrings, a ring, and a necklace—several of which she had saved in her phone’s photo album collection.
All these designs were the work of famous designers, almost all limited edition and long out of print. They had reportedly been collected by an Indian billionaire and should not have been available on the market.
“Did you go to an auction a few days ago…”
Her fragmented thoughts clicked together, and Song Qingxing instantly understood why Xie Jingcheng had gone to the auction house that day.
All these items were real.
The bottom of the box must have been thick with certificates, which was why it felt bulky. Song Qingxing was genuinely shocked. Even some wealthy families’ betrothal gifts for a bride probably weren’t this extensive.
Xie Jingcheng had given so much at once; she must genuinely like her and wasn’t being disingenuous at all.
“But…”
“I’m not ready yet.”
Lowering her head, letting her ears flush red, Song Qingxing couldn’t deceive Xie Jingcheng, no matter how tempted she was. She truly wasn’t prepared.
“As long as you like them, it doesn’t matter if you’re not ready.”
Xie Jingcheng knew she had been too hasty and put the gift back in her pocket. She bought them to give away and hadn’t planned on setting any attached conditions.
Song Qingxing felt utterly pretentious at this moment. If she continued to refuse, she might push Xie Jingcheng further and further away.
The other party was a major backer.
She absolutely couldn’t ignore her.
Song Qingxing bit her lip, finally making a decision. She placed the gift box from Xie Jingcheng’s hand aside and took the initiative to embrace her.
Even though she had never been in a relationship, she had seen plenty on set—whether it was flirting between directors and actresses, or between actors and actresses, both on and off-screen.
Song Qingxing had picked up a few things.
She raised her hand to loop it around Xie Jingcheng’s neck. Her delicate skin brushed against the fine, downy hair at the back of the neck, causing a shiver in the heart.
“I knew from the start you would fall for my beauty.”
Though the statement was arguably shameless, the truth was slowly proving her initial words right.
Song Qingxing never doubted her own charm.
Nor did she see any issue with having a ‘deep exchange’ with a beautiful woman; it would make up for the regret of being single for all of her previous life.
However, she warned herself repeatedly, this relationship must not get too serious.
The price of not getting too serious was that she needed to take the initiative.
She kissed her first.
The difference between active and passive was significant. She had to learn to pry open the other’s lips and part their teeth.
And make Xie Jingcheng cooperate with her.
Softness interwoven, passion entwined.
Xie Jingcheng felt her waist go weak. She couldn’t resist this feeling—a feeling she had for the first time in centuries, a special sensation reserved only for one person.
Raising her hand to wrap around the other’s back, Xie Jingcheng stumbled with her toward the bed. With her dark hair spread out, Song Qingxing, in that moment, looked like a tempting fox spirit leading someone to sin.
Xie Jingcheng listened to the soft moans in her ear and was completely immersed. However, as her fingers started to restrain Song Qingxing’s wrist.
She could feel the other person’s shoulder flinch.
“Why are you trembling?”
Her gentle voice, clear and crisp like pearls dropping onto a plate, brought her somewhat muddled mind back to clarity.
“I might just be too nervous.”
Song Qingxing replied. Noticing that Xie Jingcheng seemed to want to stand up, she immediately hooked her arms around her waist.
“No need. I can overcome this small hurdle.”
Having made up her mind, Song Qingxing wasn’t going to back out. She intended to keep the person there, even if her methods were somewhat extreme.
Xie Jingcheng leaned down again.
That night was one of passionate entanglement.
…
Yu Zhi hadn’t slept well, constantly wondering why Xie Jingcheng was staying on set, watching Song Qingxing.
Even if they were lovers, there was no need for this kind of intensity; it felt slightly obsessive.
She was worried about her boss.
If she exhausted herself, how would she film? There were some scenes that required her to show off her body curves.
Wouldn’t this make it harder to shoot?
However, worry was just worry; she was only a small assistant and her voice carried little weight.
She only hoped that the two were just chatting under the covers tonight, and nothing more extreme would happen. Of course, when Yu Zhi entertained this thought, she knew she was just dreaming.
The next morning, when Yu Zhi woke up.
She was uneasy. She had sent Song Qingxing countless messages, but the other party still hadn’t replied.
It’s over! It’s over!
She must have been thoroughly ‘abused’ by her sugar mommy.
Yu Zhi had read plenty of ‘canary literature’ in the previous days. The books almost featured the ten tortures of the Qing Dynasty, and she was extremely worried about Song Qingxing.
But she didn’t dare to disturb them. This sense of anxiety was like an ant in a hot pot, and the cruel reality was pouring oil into it, making the ant’s feet slip.
It couldn’t climb out of the round; slippery pot bottoms no matter what.
Seeing the clock hand nearing eleven o’clock, Yu Zhi couldn’t endure it any longer. Any further delay would hold up filming, and the company would surely hold her accountable for that.
She could only bravely approach Song Qingxing’s door, bend her fingers, and gently knock a few times.
“Sister Song, we should be heading to the set.”
