- Chapter 6 - The Male Lead Can Finally See the Light
Shu Chen was woken up by the system, radiating a low-pressure aura all around him.
Just before his morning temper could erupt, the system said lazily, “Your parents are both waiting outside. If you don’t care, you can keep sleeping.”
As a rich second-generation who depended on his parents for survival, respecting his elders was a virtue carved into his bones.
Hearing this, he didn’t bother finding fault with the system. He immediately crawled out of bed, threw on some clothes, and went out to greet his parents.
“Father, Mother.” The courtyard gate opened, and before he even arrived, Shu Chen’s greeting reached his parents’ ears.
Looking at their son who had just gotten out of bed, Su Yang said with a smile, “Haven’t seen you in half a year you’ve grown quite a bit.”
Shu Chen was busy recalling how the original owner had interacted with his family, not noticing that in Su Yang’s eyes, he appeared as a completely different person.
From last night until just now, his dreams seemed to be replaying the original owner’s past experiences. With these memories, he felt more confident facing the original owner’s parents.
Shu Chen stepped aside to make way, “Aren’t you coming in?”
Seeing that his wife hadn’t moved, Shu Chi also stayed outside.
Su Yang sniffed the air and said hesitantly to his son, “Is there someone else in your room? I smell something.”
For them, one glance was enough to know how many people were there, and a sweep of their spiritual sense would reveal what everyone in the mansion was doing. But this was their own home, and the person before them was their biological son there was no need to investigate his little courtyard like scouting enemy territory. Using the simplest method to steer the conversation was enough.
Shu Chen: “Mm, I just took in a book boy.”
His improvisation wasn’t great, and he regretted it the moment he said it. With the male lead’s misleading way of speaking, what kind of book boy would he make?
The two elders exchanged a glance, reaching a consensus: He’s lying.
Receiving his wife’s instruction, Shu Chi said with interest, “I’d like to meet him.”
Shu Chen declined, “He’s not fit to see outsiders right now. I’ll bring him to you in a couple of days.” The male lead was covered in injuries, and for the sake of his own image in his parents’ eyes, he needed time to recover.
Su Yang casually picked a pomegranate and tossed it in his hand, “No rush, we can see him in a couple of days.”
On the surface, she was calm, but inside, waves were crashing.
Their son was barely old enough and already doing adult things!
Compared to his wife, Shu Chi was relatively composed. He placed a storage pouch on the table, “Spirit stones, keep them.”
Shu Chen obediently put it away, “Thank you, Father.”
In the cultivation world, spirit stones served as currency, and high-grade spirit stones could also have their spiritual energy extracted for cultivation. From what he remembered, these two elders sent him batches of spirit stones every few days.
After giving the spirit stones, the two didn’t linger. Su Yang grabbed her son to ask about his recent situation before leaving, looking quite busy.
After they left, Shu Chen pushed open the male lead’s door. The sun was already high in the sky, and this guy was still wasting time.
“Get up and put on the medicine.” He picked up the ointment that had rolled onto the floor and tossed it onto the bed.
The male lead kept his eyes closed, wrapped in the blanket as he rolled over, seemingly still asleep. But Shu Chen knew he was being defiant on purpose.
“Do you want to go back to the basement? If you don’t say anything, I’ll take that as agreement.”
Xiao Nian chose that moment to “wake up,” rolling over and kicking his leg.
Shu Chen, who had just sat down, didn’t expect this move. He was kicked off the bed and barely caught the bed curtain to keep from falling to his knees.
Xiao Nian propped himself up on his side, his voice still drowsy, “Ah, why are you here?”
Shu Chen said nothing, staring at him coldly.
Xiao Nian endured the pain and sat up, adjusting his attitude, “Why that expression again? I was just sleeping, how could that possibly offend you?”
Seeing the little pervert’s hand reaching toward him, Xiao Nian instinctively leaned back, but the bed was only so big he couldn’t dodge.
Shu Chen’s finger pressed against his wound, “You untied the rope without my permission again.”
Even prepared for the pain, Xiao Nian shuddered. He lowered his head, his expression unreadable as he thought about something. A moment later, he looked up with a smile, “I don’t like being tied up. If you feel provoked, you can tie it tighter next time.”
Shu Chen knew he had something up his sleeve but didn’t call him out. He went along with him and skipped the topic, pressing harder with his hand, “No feeling? You could still sleep through this?”
“Mm, I’m used to it.”
Shu Chen withdrew his hand and tossed the ointment to him, “Apply the medicine.”
There was no need to fight over such a small matter. Xiao Nian, uncharacteristically obedient, picked up the ointment and applied it to himself.
The male lead had a special constitution simple treatment after injury would heal him completely. But he wasn’t used to doing this now, applying the medicine without any sense of measure.
Shu Chen couldn’t be bothered to watch his self-harming style of applying medicine. He turned and went back to his room to find him some clothes.
After he left, Xiao Nian lowered his head to examine the tattoo over his heart. Without a doubt, the departing Shu Chen received another “pervert” notification.
The one being cursed didn’t know he’d been cursed again, still searching for clothes for the male lead. Finding nothing suitable in his own room, he went out to grab a set temporarily.
When he returned, the male lead had already finished applying the medicine, lazily leaning against the wall with his two long legs casually stretched across the bed. Good thing it was a double bed otherwise, it wouldn’t have been wide enough for his legs.
Anyway, he’d already been seen completely naked, and he was a grown man Xiao Nian didn’t mind continuing to be seen by the little pervert.
Shu Chen tossed the clothes onto the bed. “Get dressed and come find me.” Having secured the old man’s approval, he wasn’t worried about the male lead trying to escape even without keeping an eye on him not within the city lord’s estate.
Xiao Nian rubbed the fabric between his fingers, his gaze lingering on the retreating figure until Shu Chen had stepped out the door before looking away.
Before long, the male lead stood before Shu Chen, fully dressed.
“You seem unusually obedient today. Had a change of heart?”
Xiao Nian still hated him to the bone, but being under the other’s control, he had no choice but to lower his head.
He pointed at his own heart, a hint of roguishness in his smile. “Wasn’t it you who said that from now on, I’m yours? Forgotten already?”
Outside the courtyard, servants still deliberately took the long way around. When they noticed an extra person in the young master’s yard, they couldn’t help but steal a few more glances.
Who was it that had been secretly involved with the young master behind their backs, earning his special regard? Everyone knew that since the young master turned ten, he hadn’t allowed any servant into his courtyard not even the maids assigned to attend him.
If Xiao Nian knew what they were thinking, he’d rather swap positions with anyone in the estate than stay with this little freak.
Shu Chen pointed at the seat across from him. “Sit.”
Unsure what scheme he was cooking up now, Xiao Nian sat down warily.
Shu Chen pushed the plate and pomegranate in front of him, then ordered, “Peel it for me.”
Xiao Nian swallowed the retort “Don’t you have hands of your own?” and quietly picked up the pomegranate to peel it for him.
Eating a pomegranate required peeling it seed by seed this didn’t match Xiao Nian’s style at all. If it were up to him, he’d just crack it open and bite straight in, fast and satisfying. So he figured the little freak was deliberately making things difficult for him.
Shu Chen was indeed doing it on purpose. He hadn’t forgotten that the male lead hadn’t eaten a thing since being captured. And with no idea how to absorb spiritual energy, how much longer could he possibly hold out?
