Reborn as an Alpha and Still Wanting to Engage in Lesbian Relationships - Chapter 24.4
She was like a little fickle-hearted radish.
The tendencies toward alpha or omega differentiation could be glimpsed even in childhood.
Although Wen Qing usually hung out with a pack of little alpha-puppies and was the most exquisitely beautiful among the little ones, when compared to an omega-leaning child like Wangwang, she still couldn’t match Wangwang’s delicate prettiness.
Wen Qing glanced at Wangwang and then burst into sobbing tears.
Wangwang, who had just stopped crying, saw Wen Qing weeping again, pouted, and started crying too.
The two equally adorable little ones sat on either side of Jiang Man, crying their hearts out. But unlike Wangwang’s straightforward wailing, the pretty little one knew exactly what Jiang Man liked and deliberately found the most flattering angle to let her tears fall.
The tears sliding down her cheeks made the pretty little one appear even more delicate, fragile, and beautiful.
As the center of this rivalry, Jiang Man patted one and comforted the other.
But thinking that Wangwang was, after all, a guest, she gently stroked Wen Qing’s cheek, hastily planted a kiss on her tear-streaked face, then shifted over to comfort Wangwang.
Seeing the fickle-hearted radish so dismissive of her, the pretty little one didn’t even bother with her angle anymore. She let out a genuine, heartfelt wail.
The two adorable little ones cried in unison, creating a veritable duet of noise.
Just as Duan Shui Man was overwhelmed, Auntie Xu Nuo, whom they hadn’t seen in a long time, walked in hand-in-hand with Auntie Wen Yu.
As soon as Xu Nuo entered, she was met with ear-splitting cries. Her wife considerately covered her ears as they headed toward the source of the noise.
When they got closer, they saw their daughter and an unfamiliar little one sitting on either side of Manman, both crying with their heads thrown back.
Xu Nuo glanced at her daughter, who was crying as if her heart were breaking, and couldn’t help but ask Li Chengxi, who was closest to her, for the reason.
“Why are they crying?” Li Chengxi couldn’t hold back a laugh, covering her mouth as she leaned in to whisper gossip into Xu Nuo’s ear. “The other little one crying is one of this season’s guest stars, named Wangwang. They’re fighting over who gets to marry Manzai!”
Watching Wangwang cry so hard that snot bubbles formed, Xu Nuo covered her mouth and chuckled softly. “So what’s the situation now? Did neither of the little ones win?”
Li Chengxi nodded with a smile. “Manzai is still so young, she probably doesn’t even know what marriage means.”
The two carefree adults watched the popular Manzai trying to comfort one child after another, soon working up a sweat, and couldn’t help but snicker quietly.
Listening to the discordant duet of crying from both sides, Jiang Man wiped the anxious sweat from her forehead and couldn’t help but pout.
Though she had once been an adult, Jiang Man was still a young girl who had never stepped beyond the campus. Combined with being pampered by her mother and maternal instincts in this life, as well as the influence of her childlike nature, Manzai who had been trying to comfort others without success began to feel wronged.
They were all children, why did she have to keep comforting two unruly little troublemakers?
Exhausted and drenched in sweat, the little one plopped down in the middle, her usually lively round eyes now misty.
Before the watching adults could react, the child pressed her lips together and began to shed tears, sitting silently in the center.
Compared to the two exquisitely beautiful but wailing children, Manzai crying quietly and alone without making a fuss tugged at the heartstrings even more.
Seeing the tears welling up in the child’s eyes, the previously amused adults immediately panicked, scrambling to pick her up and comfort her.
Wen Yu bent down first, cradling Manzai in her arms.
With her view suddenly unobstructed, Jiang Man paused for a moment. Spotting her two aunts whom she hadn’t seen in a long time, her lips quivered, and she buried her face in Wen Yu’s chest, whimpering softly.
It was the first time the usually energetic and sunny child had cried so sorrowfully.
Her chubby little hands crumpled Wen Yu’s neatly ironed collar, and her tears dampened the shirt.
Unlike the loudly sobbing children on the floor, Jiang Man cried like a helpless little creature, curling up in Wen Yu’s arms and whimpering quietly.
It made her even more heart-wrenching.
Li Chengxi and Qian Duowei, both omegas, were highly sensitive to pheromones. The moment Wen Yu’s pungent scent emerged, they instinctively covered their noses and mouths, their brows furrowing.
The two crying children on the floor also sensed Wen Yu’s pheromones, and their cries abruptly ceased.
Tear-streaked, the two little ones looked up at the alpha who stood like a mountain.
Xu Nuo, unaware, crouched down and pulled out tissues to wipe the children’s faces clean.
Only then did Wen Qing realize that her willfulness had made Jiang Man cry.
The wronged child huddled in Wen Yu’s arms, her small body trembling with sobs, looking utterly pitiful.
Freed from their childish impulses, the two pretty children looked at the adorable little one being held by Wen Yu and began to feel regret.
Wen Yu glanced down at the now-calm children and handed Manzai to her wife. “Manzai is all sweaty be careful she doesn’t catch a cold. Take her to change her clothes first.”
Xu Nuo took Manzai, her heart aching at the sight of the child’s tear-streaked face, and prepared to carry the little one away.
But before she could leave, she noticed someone tugging at her pant leg.
Wen Qing looked up, her tear-reddened eyes fixed unblinkingly on the little one in Xu Nuo’s arms. “Mommy, Wo and Man-man talked.”
Xu Nuo glanced at the child in her arms, who had stopped crying but was still sniffling, and felt conflicted.
After a moment, Xu Nuo decided to respect the little one’s wishes. “Man-man, do you want to talk to Qing-qing?”
Having cried her heart out, the little one had already calmed down. Remembering her earlier behavior, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment.
Oh no, how annoying! It’s so hard to resist a child’s instincts!
The little one, feeling self-conscious about her earlier actions, quickly shook her head, burrowed into Auntie Xu Nuo’s arms, and pretended to be a silent little mushroom, refusing to interact with anyone!
Xu Nuo respected her decision.
She looked at her daughter and shook her head apologetically. “Sorry, Qing-qing, Man-man doesn’t want to talk to you right now. She’s tired from comforting you all earlier, and I need to go change her clothes.”
Hearing her mother’s words, Wen Qing gently released her grip on her mother’s pant leg.
Xu Nuo carried Jiang Man away, leaving Li Chengxi and Qian Duowei exchanging uncertain glances, unsure whether to stay or leave.
Just as they hesitated, Wen Yu, who had just recovered from a serious illness and still looked pale, glanced at them coldly but politely. “Please take these four children away for now. I need to talk to Wen Qing.”
Following her instructions, the two of them quickly gathered the four children and hurriedly left the scene.
The first floor was now empty except for Wen Yu and Wen Qing.
Wen Yu crouched down, looked at Wen Qing’s red-rimmed eyes, and let out a mocking laugh. “You made the person you like cry. She probably realized your true childish, obsessive, and stubborn nature and will never want to talk to you again.”
With every word she spoke, the little girl’s expression grew colder.
Despite being mother and daughter by blood, their relationship seemed more like that of sworn enemies.
Xu Nuo carried Jiang Man back to the nursery, placed the little one in her crib, and went to fetch a change of clothes.
Having skipped her afternoon nap, spent the afternoon studying with Yuan-yuan, and then crying so intensely, the little one’s energy was completely drained.
She had only meant to pretend to be a little mushroom for a while, but before she knew it, she closed her eyes and fell asleep.
When she woke up, Jiang Man found herself lying between her mother and mommy.
The two of them encircled her like two great dragons guarding their one and only precious treasure, keeping her safe and secure between them.
Well-rested, the little one lay quietly without disturbing her mothers’ sleep. She turned her head to look at her mother on the left, then at her mommy on the right, before settling back to entertain herself for a while.
A long time later, her mother and mommy finally opened their eyes and woke up.
As soon as they did, the little one sat up with a soft “hee-ho,” greeting them with a sweet smile.
The child’s skin was delicate, and it was the first time she had cried so hard. Even after a night’s rest, her tear-swollen eyes were still red.
Her smile, paired with her puffy eyes, made Liu Ying and Jiang Feng’s hearts ache.
Usually, at least one of them would stay at the villa, but the day before, both had been busy and had to go out together. When they returned, they found their little one asleep with red, tear-stained eyes.
It would be a lie to say they didn’t blame others, but Liu Ying could at least mask her true feelings. Jiang Feng, who had been born with a silver spoon in her mouth, couldn’t even be bothered to pretend.
She made it perfectly clear that she held no goodwill toward Wang-wang and Wen Qing, who had made Man-man cry.
The atmosphere in the villa today was unusually peculiar.
Watching Jiang Feng carry Manzai after finishing the meal and leave without a backward glance, Xu Nuo felt deeply troubled.
Xu Nuo knew very well that her own daughter bore half the responsibility for making Manzai cry, while she and Wen Yu, who had initially watched the commotion, also shared a significant part of the blame.
Feeling guilty, Xu Nuo wanted to find a way to make amends.
After Jiang Feng left the villa with Manzai, Xu Nuo whispered a few words to her wife, then picked up one of the little troublemakers who had caused Manzai’s tears and went to Liu Ying’s door to apologize.
When Liu Ying saw it was Xu Nuo, she initially didn’t want to let the mother and daughter in. No mother could smile and welcome someone who had made her daughter cry the very next day after the incident.
But seeing the distressed little one in Xu Nuo’s arms, Liu Ying’s heart softened, and she stepped aside to let them in.
“I’m sorry. Qingzai was too willful yesterday and made Manzai so upset,” Xu Nuo said as soon as she entered, setting the child down. Once the little one was steady on her feet, Xu Nuo guided her to bow in apology together.
Seeing how serious Xu Nuo was, Liu Ying quickly stepped aside to avoid their bow, walked over to her, and pulled her up to sit on the small sofa. “It’s normal for little ones to squabble, cry, and laugh. There’s no need for this.”
Sitting down on the small sofa as Liu Ying guided her, Xu Nuo nodded in response but still wore a regretful expression.
Although the two had parted ways later due to matters involving Wen Yu, they had been close friends since childhood. With just one look at each other’s expressions, they could tell what the other was thinking.
“No more apologies, please,” Liu Ying cut Xu Nuo off before she could say more. “First, tell me how your wife is doing. Does she need any help?”
Xu Nuo smiled. “She’s fine now. She said it was due to separation anxiety from being too busy with work lately. Nothing serious.”
Though Xu Nuo said this, Liu Ying clearly didn’t believe it.
Last night before bed, her wife had mentioned casually during their chat that the person in charge of the stables had reported traces of aggressive pheromones on the restroom doorknob.
This morning, Liu Ying had asked the estate manager and confirmed that Wen Yu had visited the estate on the day her pheromones erupted.
Though the exact reason for Wen Yu’s pheromone outburst remained unknown, it was almost certainly related to Xu Nuo.
Looking at the beautiful, delicate child in Xu Nuo’s arms, Liu Ying recalled Wen Yu’s usual behavior toward the little one and reminded her, “You know how important pheromones are in guiding a child’s growth, right?”
