Reborn as an Alpha and Still Wanting to Engage in Lesbian Relationships - Chapter 21.3
Liu Ying was well aware of her daughter’s charm. Seeing the determined expressions on both little ones’ faces, she guessed they must have made some kind of pact.
With a resigned sigh, Liu Ying gently tapped her daughter’s little nose and turned to the flustered Qian Duowei. “It’s alright, Professor Qian. Manzai probably made some promise with Jinzai. If I recall correctly, you have a class today, right? If you’re comfortable with it, why not let me and my agent take care of Jinzai today?”
Qian Duowei hesitated, but seeing her daughter’s unwavering expression, the words on the tip of her tongue took a different turn.
Noticing Qian Duowei’s gradually relaxing expression, Liu Ying instructed her wife to call her agent.
A few minutes later, Sun Miao rushed in, carrying a bag full of baby supplies.
Seeing how well-prepared Sun Miao was, Qian Duowei finally felt reassured and handed her daughter over to Liu Ying.
It wasn’t that Qian Duowei didn’t trust Liu Ying with her daughter, she just couldn’t help but worry. After all, Liu Ying was a famous celebrity with a busy schedule. What if some oversight led to her daughter getting hurt?
As an ordinary mother, Qian Duowei couldn’t help but fret over her child.
But seeing Sun Miao so thoroughly equipped, Qian Duowei felt a little more at ease.
As a mother herself, Liu Ying understood exactly what Qian Duowei was thinking.
To completely ease her concerns, Liu Ying offered, “Professor Qian, how about I send you updates on Jinzai’s condition every hour once we’re on set?”
Realizing her thoughts had been seen through, Qian Duowei blushed and softly declined the offer. After briefing Liu Ying on Fang Jin’s likes and dislikes, she noticed she was running late and hurriedly left in the car Liu Ying had arranged for her.
Sun Miao, holding the cheerful, carefree little one in her arms, couldn’t help but bounce her gently. “This little treasure is just as smiley as Manzai, so adorable!”
Sensing the adults were praising her, the little golden retriever, Fang Jin, imitated her good friend and proudly puffed out her chest.
The two little pups, chests puffed out like little chicks, were both endearing and amusing.
With an assistant driving, Sun Miao and Liu Ying sat in the back of the van, playing with the little ones.
Unlike Fang Jin, who was fully immersed in play, Jiang Man was a working child!
After playing with her friend for a while, Jiang Man pointed to the script on the table, signaling for her mother to read it to her.
The agent, who had been playing with Fang Jin, couldn’t help but laugh and praised, “Hey, Manzai really has a strong work ethic!”
Along the way, Jiang Man familiarized herself with the script.
This time, her role was merely a young child appearing in the protagonist’s memories, requiring little acting skill just following the director’s instructions to cry or laugh as needed.
Despite this, Jiang Man gave it her full attention, listening intently to her mother’s analysis and gradually shaping her character bit by bit.
By the time the car stopped near the film set, Jiang Man had already formed a clear image of her role in her mind.
Liu Ying and Sun Miao, carrying the two young children, stepped out of the car. After some socializing with the director and screenwriter, they finally got down to business.
The child’s cute outfit, carefully chosen by the nanny that morning, was replaced with a simple white linen dress. A breathing mask was placed over her nose, and she was enclosed in a transparent chamber.
The camera focused on the child, and at the director’s command, filming began.
If the director had expected only four points from the child, the child delivered a full eighty.
This little one seemed born to be an actor!
Without any guidance, she naturally expressed the character’s emotions and actions at every plot point.
Yes, it was an effortless expression, not a performance.
The moment the camera focused on her, the child became the character, no longer herself. Even the director’s prepared instructions and cues felt redundant.
“CUT!”
As the command echoed, the child quickly snapped out of character. When the crew assistant picked her up, she happily waved to her mother and little friend.
Watching the playback, the director couldn’t hide her admiration. So impressed by Manzai’s natural talent, she decided on the spot to include Fang Jin in the filming as well!
But while Jiang Man brought endless surprises, Fang Jin brought nothing but disappointment.
This cheerful child really only knew how to be cheerful!
After much deliberation, the director reluctantly decided to remove Fang Jin from the scene.
The now somber child changed back into her cute outfit, watching intently as her friend was surrounded by a group of aunties with their cameras.
Children naturally admire strength, and seeing her friend switch between appearing weak and returning to normal, she thought it was absolutely amazing!
When Jiang Man finished her scenes and was handed back to her mother, she noticed her little friend had somehow become a starry-eyed fan!
As Jiang Man sat down beside her, Fang Jin eagerly snuggled up, babbling in baby talk and showering Jiang Man with praise, making her feel a little embarrassed.
What was initially expected to take several days to film, including reshoots, was completed in just one day, saving the production a significant amount of money!
Overjoyed, the director stopped Liu Ying and the others as they were about to leave, insisting on hosting a small wrap party for the little star, Manzai, that evening.
Though hastily arranged, the celebration had everything a small bouquet, a little cake nothing was overlooked.
The usually high-pressure, tense film set suddenly became lively and cheerful, making it impossible not to notice.
Some directors from the same filming base grew curious and sent their crew assistants to inquire. They were told that a naturally gifted child prodigy had joined the set!
For a time, Jiang Man’s name began circulating throughout the filming base as an individual entity.
Child actors weren’t just needed by one or two production crews they were genuinely hard to come by. If they couldn’t find a suitable one, crews would either settle for someone passable or reluctantly cut the child actor’s scenes altogether.
Now, with Jiang Man suddenly appearing, every crew urgently in need of a child actor rushed to get her.
Since Manzai was still young and didn’t have a dedicated agent, Sun Miao took on the role part-time.
“This one needs a three-year-old, that one wants a six-year-old.”
As Sun Miao went through the scripts submitted by the various crews, she couldn’t help but laugh. “Seriously, are they that desperate for child actors? They’re grabbing at any straw without even checking how old our Manzai is?”
Liu Ying also chuckled when she saw the scripts calling for children aged four, five, six, or seven.
Meanwhile, the little one at the center of the discussion was happily playing with her friends, completely unaware that her mother and Aunt Sun Miao were busy selecting scripts for her.
Fang Jin had completely become Jiang Man’s little fan. Even though filming had long ended, she persistently circled around Jiang Man every day, begging her to perform her transformation into another child again.
Once, twice, three times Fang Jin watched with undiminished fascination, never growing tired of it. But Jiang Man was exhausted.
With a soft thump, the little one lay down on the floor, pretending to sleep to escape her enthusiastic fan’s live requests.
But before Jiang Man could pretend for long, she heard a flurry of noisy footsteps.
Curious, the little one lying on the floor opened her eyes.
As soon as Xu Nuo entered the living room holding Wen Qing, she spotted Manzai lying on the playmat. Before she could even greet Qian Duowei, her daughter in her arms was already eager to get down.
“Manzai!”
Held by her mother, Wen Qing stretched her hands out pitifully toward the little one on the floor, her beautiful eyes brimming with tears.
Seeing the pretty little sister, Jiang Man rolled over in an instant and greeted her warmly, “Mei ya!” (Little sister!)
Watching the two little ones act like star-crossed lovers separated by the Queen Mother of the West, Xu Nuo had no choice but to set Wen Qing down before standing up to greet Qian Duowei and the others.
On one side, Jiang Man and Wen Qing snuggled affectionately; on the other, the calm and steady Borzoi puppy, Mu Qian, crawled over to Fang Jin and began whispering about Wen Qing’s two-faced nature.
Xu Nuo and Mu Qian’s mother, Li Chengxi, had arrived uninvited, piquing Qian Duowei and Liu Ying’s curiosity.
Li Chengxi smiled helplessly and explained, “Xi Xi and Qingzai just don’t get along. It’s been several days, and they still haven’t warmed up to each other. Sister Xu Nuo and I have been showing them Manzai and Jinzai’s livestreams every day.”
“Today, even the livestreams weren’t enough. They threw a fit and insisted on coming to play with Manzai and the others.”
Xu Nuo sat to the side, nodding with a look of utter resignation.
As the adults chatted, the little ones tumbled and played together, completely oblivious to the producer’s frantic screams upon seeing their premature reunion, which had once again disrupted his plans.
After the four little ones snuggled affectionately, they began chattering and exchanging stories about what they had been up to lately.
Fang Jin, Jiang Man’s number one fan, her eyes sparkling, proudly boasted to the others, who hadn’t seen Jiang Man act in person about how incredibly amazing Jiang Man was.
Her straightforward praise even made the usually supremely confident Manzai feel a little embarrassed.
Blushing shyly, Manzai humbly assured the adoring Mu Qian that she wasn’t that amazing.
No sooner had she finished saying she wasn’t that impressive than her agent, who had been sitting on the sofa, jumped to his feet.
