Reborn as a Human Cauldron, But I'm the Top - Chapter 98
Chapter 98: Truth – So That’s How It Is
Shen Yirong discovered that the exit on the All-Seeing Mirror had disappeared. Only she was left in this space, but she wasn’t flustered. She merely sat on the tree branch, looking at the spot Su Wanxing had just healed.
Not long after, the sky opened again. A pair of invisible eyes peered in. Shen Yirong recognized them, they were Su Zhao’s eyes.
She looked no different from the memory, but the gentleness in her expression lacked some of its former hesitation and timidity.
Su Zhao smiled and said, “Sword Venerable, why are you here?”
Shen Shuci transformed into a bracelet and wrapped herself around Shen Yirong’s wrist, then fell silent.
Shen Yirong’s face was serious. “Su Zhao, what is the outside world like now?”
Su Zhao gave a bitter smile. “It’s not good. The entire cultivation world, along with the demon territory, has fallen into chaos. Living creatures are gradually falling into slumber, and the evil souls suppressed beneath the ground have risen to wreak havoc everywhere.”
After hearing this, Shen Yirong’s expression grew sterner. She flew out of the All-Seeing Mirror, only to find that the place she was in was sunny and beautiful.
The scenery was lovely, but there were no people in sight.
Su Zhao sat in a wheelchair. She sighed. “I asked the Heavenly Dao several times but got no answer. If Shuci were here, she could definitely find the Heavenly Dao.”
Shen Yirong comforted her, “Don’t worry, she will be fine. But where is this place? Why don’t I sense any human presence?”
Su Zhao looked a little shy. “I learned a lot during the hundred years you were gone. This is a small world I created.”
Shen Yirong was somewhat surprised. She didn’t hesitate to pat Su Zhao’s shoulder. “That’s impressive. I remember you only knew divination before.”
Receiving Shen Yirong’s praise, a genuine smile appeared on Su Zhao’s face, but as she watched her old friend look around the pseudo-world, her smile slowly faded.
Shen Yirong didn’t notice her abnormality. After looking around, she wanted to leave. “I don’t know how I got here, but the outside is chaotic right now. Since I’m back, I can’t ignore it. How do I get out of here?”
Shen Yirong was too agitated and accidentally triggered her old injury in her chest. She gritted her teeth and cursed under her breath, “D*mn it.”
Su Zhao waved her hand. Branches from a nearby tree lowered themselves to support Shen Yirong. “It’s not too late to go out after you’ve recovered your health.”
Shen Yirong coughed a few times, and her face visibly paled. “There’s nothing here. How can I treat my injuries?”
Su Zhao pointed to a silvery lake in the distance. “Soaking in that Moon Lake can heal injuries.”
A memory flashed through Shen Yirong’s mind. She clutched her forehead, looking somewhat pained.
“Did you remember something?” Su Zhao’s voice was full of concern.
Shen Yirong did recall something, but what she remembered was a little hard to mention. She remembered accidentally entering a certain space, pushing aside some bushes, and seeing a pool of water. Someone was soaking in the pool, their back to her.
Of course, more than one memory appeared in her mind, but she ignored the rest.
Faced with Su Zhao’s question, she didn’t know how to answer. But Su Zhao’s question was very abrupt. Shen Yirong asked curiously, “Why would you ask that?”
Su Zhao patiently explained, “Because you’ve had amnesia for a long time.”
Shen Yirong knew there was something wrong with her memory. She didn’t dwell on it and walked towards the lake water.
She walked quickly, nearly stumbling, but managed to steady her balance.
When her body was submerged in the lake water, Shen Yirong shivered from the cold. She circulated her spiritual energy to ward off the chill, and subsequently, all the minor aches in her body were smoothed away by the lake water.
She sighed comfortably, then turned to look at Su Zhao, who was slightly further away. Her gaze dropped from the other’s eyes to her legs. A hint of pain flashed in Shen Yirong’s eyes. “How did your legs end up like this?”
Su Zhao touched her legs. “Before you left, Wanxing also left. I asked the Heavenly Dao for an answer, and these legs were the price I paid.”
Shen Yirong’s expression changed. Although she had guessed, it was still difficult to accept when the matter was truly laid before her.
But someone else was in more pain than her. Shen Yirong sighed. “What did the Heavenly Dao say?”
Su Zhao tilted her head back, her sightless eyes looking toward the sky. “The Heavenly Dao said she is gone. This was her destiny.”
Su Zhao didn’t seem to need consolation. She smiled. “Wanxing told me to forget her, but for some reason, the more I try to forget, the deeper the memory becomes.”
Shen Yirong knew she just wanted to vent, so she acted as a qualified listener.
But as she listened, drowsiness began to creep up. She tried hard to look at Su Zhao, but she couldn’t control her eyelids.
Su Zhao slowly approached. “Are you tired? If you’re tired, rest.”
Su Zhao’s voice carried a strange familiarity. It increased Shen Yirong’s sleepiness, so she rested her head on her hand and slowly drifted off to sleep.
Feeling Shen Yirong’s soft breathing, the smile on Su Zhao’s face slowly dropped. “Shuci, come out.”
Shen Shuci left Shen Yirong’s wrist. She looked at Su Zhao and asked coldly, as usual, “How did the Pavilion Master know I was here?”
Su Zhao merely smiled. “We’ve known each other for many years, haven’t we?”
Shen Shuci didn’t consider that “knowing each other.” She looked at this world, but in a blink, this space turned into the one where she had been imprisoned.
The place where Shen Yirong lay was not a lake, but a three-legged refining furnace. The unconscious Shen Yirong was draped over the edge of the furnace.
In a panic, Shen Shuci shouted, “Host!”
Shen Yirong seemed to sense something. Her eyes twitched, then sank back into silence.
Above the furnace, there were dolls suspended by silk threads. Looking to the left, Shen Shuci saw her own physical shell.
“You’ve guessed it, haven’t you?”
Su Zhao’s voice was still gentle, but hearing it made Shen Shuci’s scalp prickle. The shape of her main body continuously shifted due to her agitated state. “What exactly are you trying to do?”
A cluster of bright white light was suspended above the dolls’ heads. The white light was bound by strings and emitted a soft glow.
Su Zhao sensed the faint aura of causality from the cluster of light, then sighed. “I want a world where I can write the destiny. In this world, I want to reassemble someone’s soul.”
“What does that have to do with my Host?”
Su Zhao merely shook her head. “In the past, I deceived her while she was severely injured and had amnesia. I thought simply then: if the Sword Venerable, this variable, and Song Yin, this person of destiny, clashed, this already fragile world would be affected, and I could take the opportunity to change a certain destiny.”
Su Zhao’s words carried a hint of unwillingness. “But the Sword Venerable couldn’t be so ruthless. She constantly argued with me, sometimes preferring to be punished rather than commit evil. In the end, Song Yin’s attitude wasn’t one of complete hatred either.”
Shen Shuci’s voice became very cold. “So four hundred years later, you are trying to achieve your goal this way again.”
Su Zhao didn’t deny her unscrupulousness. “Yes, it was I who guided Bai Yuzan to save the Sword Venerable’s soul and create a body that could hold a person’s soul.”
Shen Shuci suddenly recalled something her Host had told her earlier. “My Host mentioned that Bai Yuzan came to see her and asked her to persuade me to visit you more often.”
Su Zhao fell silent, then continued. “My repeated attempt failed. But in my divinations over the years, I realized that the Heavenly Dao is conscious.”
“It showed a flaw, and I seized the opportunity.”
Shen Shuci was startled. “What flaw?”
Su Zhao smiled. “It descended to the mortal realm to take something you gave, and I used the Heaven’s Secret Pavilion to trap it.”
Shen Shuci remembered. She cursed under her breath, yet she was surprised that a Heavenly Dao could be so weak.
And here she was saying ‘Heavenly Dao is above’ every time. How embarrassing.
But Su Zhao was chatting with her like this, which was the perfect time to stall.
Shen Shuci covertly monitored the person in the furnace and continued, “How could the Heavenly Dao be trapped by you? Besides, since you’ve controlled it, why not just resurrect your daughter?”
But then she reconsidered. This world was already chaotic; perhaps the Heavenly Dao’s control wasn’t that strong.
Otherwise, how could Mei Xin and the others have changed their destiny?
Su Zhao sighed. “Only after controlling the Heavenly Dao did I realize it’s completely useless. My previous assumptions were also wrong. Only living people are fit to change destiny.”
Shen Shuci didn’t care about these extraneous details. She was only worried that her Host would be cooked by this obsessive person.
She quietly glanced over again. The other person was sleeping soundly.
Shen Shuci was furious. She had already said it was Su Zhao, but her Host simply didn’t believe her.
This was the opponent’s territory. Shen Shuci dared not make any rash moves. She tried to soften her voice. “If that’s the case, why not turn back? Everyone will try to find a solution for you.”
Su Zhao gave a bitter smile. “I can’t go back.”
Back then, she had prepared two plans. One was to cause conflict between Shen and Song, destabilizing this fragile world so she could seize the opportunity to change destiny.
The second was to use the current cultivation world as a sacrifice to create a new world.
Su Zhao had prepared both, but she hadn’t decided to use the second.
However, the first path was no longer viable, and the second was complicated by variables like Song Yin and Shen Yirong.
Su Zhao felt a little unwilling.
A sense of foreboding rose in Shen Shuci’s heart. Sure enough, bright red flames suddenly erupted from beneath the furnace. Small bubbles began to surface in the water inside the furnace.
The Shen Yirong in the furnace frowned.
Shen Shuci rushed forward regardless, but her body was frozen in place.
She watched the temperature in the furnace climb and couldn’t help but go mad. “What are you doing? Don’t you need her?”
The firelight cast a red glow on Su Zhao’s face. “Don’t worry. I just want to completely alter her memory. After all, Song Yin is still too much trouble.”
Sensing Shen Shuci was still struggling, Su Zhao proposed a trade. “I won’t harm her. You don’t care about this world. After I eliminate Song Yin, you can take her and leave.”
Shen Shuci was furious. “She’s not your tool!”
Su Zhao frowned. Of course, she knew that.
She silently increased the flames, but as the furnace temperature rose, the Shen Yirong inside suddenly coughed up a mouthful of blood.
Hearing the cough and smelling the blood, Su Zhao frantically stopped the action.
Although she couldn’t see, she felt Shen Yirong’s life force draining away little by little.
Su Zhao anxiously pushed her wheelchair forward. There was still residual heat beside the furnace. She cast a spell to lift Shen Yirong out of the furnace.
After placing her on the ground, Su Zhao reached out to check her pulse.
But upon touching her, she found that the pulse was very steady.
Then, Shen Yirong suddenly countered, gripping her hand.
Su Zhao was startled, hearing Shen Yirong’s voice by her ear, “So that’s how it is.”
A wisp of black energy flew out from Su Zhao’s shoulder, then dissipated between the two of them.
The Truth Spell.
